Scrapbook expo find!!!

2012-03-17T21:10:00.001-07:00

When the expo was in Anaheim I went with Judesmama! We had a good time and enjoyed walking the floor and seeing what is out there!!! Mostly the same stuff year after year!
So imagine my surprise when I found something so amazing!!! Wobble springs!!! Absolutely amazing!!! Did I mention I spent under 10$ at the expo aside from the parking and the entrance to get in!!!
You can see how neat this invention is!!! I was getting hung up on where to put my journaling on my 50's prime time cafe layout and it worked out perfectly!!!
What do you think?

Valentine Day Gifts

2012-02-24T12:54:00.000-08:00

This year my baby is in preschool. A few Moms have gotten together and have done a co-op type thing, where we all take turns teaching. Its been a lot of fun! We also get to have field trips and parties! Like last week we got to go on a FUN FILLED FIELD TRIP to California Pizza Kitchen where the kids got to make their own pizza and moms got to eat for free!!! The day before CPK we had our valentines party and Kira gave these....

A couple of weeks before Valentines I happened to be at JoAnns for some other projects and ran across these. I'm a sucker for owls and I thought these were super cute! So I bought them......

Then I hit the dollar store for some candy, some pencils and some erasers..... and then put the pencils together to make them look like chop-sticks. I also put some letter stickers on them so I knew whose was whose and there ya go. A Very CUTE {even if i do say so myself}, relatively inexpensive (not as cheap as those cards from the store but I like these more) Valentines Gift.

Total price for 6 containers was 4.99, a dollar for the pencils (10 pack) a dollar for the erasers (10 pack) and a dollar for the little candy we put inside.... so $8.00 for 6 gifts (we gave the other two to some other friends) comes out to $1.33 a piece. Something like this would also be great for birthday parties etc!
Hope you guys have a good day!!!

been busy

2011-12-02T13:03:00.000-08:00

I've been busy creating recently so i thought i'd show you a small fraction of what i've been up to.
i made this flower, which you could attach to a bag, or use as a brooch or hair clip.
The fabric advent calendar was all sewn by hand and is quilted quite thick and plush.
i've made several bookmarks, all fairly similar, just embroidered in different colours etc.

i made the scripture cover from scratch with no pattern, again hand sewn. Im really proud of this one!
the cushion cover is envelope style, so there was no need for zips or buttons. the letters on the front were attached using bondaweb, and then sewn for decoration.
the paper advent was made out of matchboxes. so cute!!

finally, i made about 25 felt ornaments for my christmas tree, of
which these are just three. i went with red and white this year, so
they are all variations on this theme.

anyway, its been fun. if you want to see any more or know details about how to make anything in particular just leave a comment.

thanks for looking xx

ps. sorry this post is all over the place, blogger is not being co-operative today!

While i am usually on top of things and would've had the trip posted by now, i dont want you all to think that i am a slacker, I was admitted to the desert springs hospital in vegas on may 15th (yes mothers day... Happy Mommys day to my mom) anyways i basically had a heart attack and died but was revived... If you want to read more click here at Santa Ana firemen save my life... so i contracted pneumonia and they had to postpone my surgery.... i was in a medically induced coma for 3 days.... which this was all more scary for my friends and family than it was for me.... as i didnt know what was going on... anyways i am now going into my 6th week of recovery... i dont remember what happened from the time we boarded at the Baltimore airport to well lets just say i remember bits and pieces from the hospital...
I had narrower arteries in my heart than normal people and 2 were 100% clogged and one was at 80% clogged... Desert springs is rated #1 in the country for cardiology and so i was definitely in good hands...

Shouldve posted this on here as well instead of my family blog...
I am doing so much better... the picture taking didnt quite happen the way i wanted it to... so i am hoping that i will snap out of it and get back to my creative self soon...
Thankyou all for your patience

Low Cost Easter/Spring Wreath

2011-04-06T23:01:00.001-07:00

I just bet you were thinking to your self, "Self, we need to decorate for Easter... but things are tight right now so how can I get festive on the cheap?" Well Self, have I got the answer for you! Wanna guess how much this wreath cost me.... in total?! $3.81 cents plus a couple of pins and dab or two of hot glue... yep less than 4 bucks!! And I for one, LOVE IT!

It breaks down like this...

$1.00 for the wreath at the Dollar Tree

$1.00 x 2 for the ribbon from the dollar bin at Michaels

$..27x3 for the sheets of felt from Michaels

Instructions: Wrap the ribbon around the wreath.... (I believe this wreath is about 8-10 inches, so if you go any bigger than that buy more ribbon) I dabbed some got glue on the inside as I was wrapping so it would stay in place.

Then keep the wreath around the house for a couple of weeks until you can decide if you want flowers or eggs, then print out some stencils of cute flowers BUT forget to take them with you to craft night. Then have your friend tell you to just cut circles in the felt fold it in half and then half again and then have her show you and then do it a bunch of times in matching colors and pin the felt into the wreath where ever you want

So, if your looking for a cute easter decoration you can make on the cheap.... try this... I think it's fantastic!!!

another week

Right now i am waiting on my pictures that i sent as of yesterday to persnickety prints and i only used them instead of creative memories is due to i wanted to receive it all in one package... at the same time... Creative Memories always takes longer for me to receive... they come from MN and PP comes from UT so that is one difference the other is that usually PP takes about 24-48 hours to have printed they send me a confirmation email that it is going out... Creative memories takes a bit longer and then it is coming from further away...
anyways i will take more photos of my version of project life as soon as i get my photos and pages in... just wanted to give an update...

Project Life

2011-03-05T09:48:00.001-08:00

Here are some photos of my project life book so far… I still have a long way to go… a lot of holes to fill up… For extra photos I am using the 8x8 for our scouts (I do digi scrapbooking for them so they have a souvenir of their year) and then the 8.5X11 for our extra fun stuff as a family… so I hope you have enjoyed this so far… for one of our meetings for scouts I didn’t take a photo so instead I made a 4x6 scouting photo myself… I had fun with that I also did that for MLK day since that was a day I had off and I was at home the whole day and didn’t take any photos… I know boo shame on me… I am a bit upset at myself for not remembering that CM cuts off some of the photos and I need to remember to place my words a little bit more in on the photo… the only stinker is since I have bought 4x6 for 90$ through CM photo center I use them but it takes forever to get my prints… so I try to put as big an order as I can together… for my pages I use Persnickety prints they are awesome and in UT which is closer than MN… and so they are fast and a great quality with a lower price… I did order my MLK and Scouting 4x6 through them and they charged 29 cents for each print where I can get them through CM for like 12 cents so I don’t know… Trade offs I guess… There is a bunch I am in the process of doing… I still need to do the booth sale page for our troop from last night…I really love how my Project life is coming together I mean I am using product that I bought over 5 years ago and incorporating it into my album.. see the paper on the sides of this layout on the journal cards… that is from a Michaels stack from either late 2004 or early 2005 so maybe 6-7 years old… my mom was working on her cards and needed some paper so I pulled this stuff from my stash… well we had some scratch paper and I put it by my supplies and thought hey this is a way to spice up my journal cards and make them beautiful…

I have added things from events like my husband participated in his company's annual Bowling tourney and so I cut up the sign with the name of the team or department that was bowling and added it to the layout… I love this about scrapbooking, it allows you to be a packrat and still throw things away with out the guilt… I used what I needed from the sign and threw the rest away… an organized packrat or a scrap booker whatever you want to call me is fine by me… As you can see I am still liking the hands on and creating of my own stuff for my book… Where as Becky Higgins has everything ready for you… which depending on how much hands on or time you have you will find the right fix for you… I love Becky Higgins idea of making it simple and easy and taking a photo a day and journal everyday… It is a journal that I am trying to keep up with… I am using up my embellishments that I have had forever(ok maybe not that long) it has been awhile… I have been taking my camera out early in the morning on my way into work when I see a beautiful sunrise… this Project is forcing me to not only smell the roses but to enjoy them as well… So lets see how March treats us… see it’s a bit empty… I bought some Girl scout Embellishments from K&Company about 2 years ago and since we are doing booth sales this is helping out to spice up my journaling cards… Oh and to help keep me organized I have 4x6 index cards with each weeks layout design on them so that way I can keep track of which way I need to take the photos and what goes where… a little organized I am… lol

Not going to lie I did by a package of Becky Higgins lined 4x3 cards and her page protectors A&B…

POTD-Becky Higgins Project life…

2011-02-12T10:12:00.001-08:00

Here are some of my photos from the last few weeks

As you can tell these are not in any particular order… I Love the Flame broiler and that is my treat to myself on Tuesdays when DH is bowling…

And then I took a picture while in the Canyon on my way home…

Then on Friday we played (well mostly DH) Epic Mickey on the WII… he spent a good hour or so…

The Saturday before super bowl the sunset was so eerie I had to take a photo of it…

Yes I will admit I don’t like the cold that much and we live in socal yes that reads 39 degrees..WTH?I heart our Dog Norton he is such a Drama Queen…

I made a new mac n cheese by kraft that the DH wanted to try… It was ok

I got many packages these last few weeks… I found the amazon app for the iphone… Yeah not good for me… so I got some of my orders in

Superbowl… I know we are one of the rare few families that could care less about the superbowl let alone football in general… (I was hoping that Greenbay won… I have family in Wisconsin)

Then DH got a package in the mail as well… a new Tom Tom… this one actually speaks the street names… our other one only says turn in 100 yards… etc…

I have been going from Saturday to Friday on my Pages… Only because the new year started on a Saturday… I am ordering this photos today… Once I get them and inserted into my album I will take a photo and show you all…

Anyone else doing Project life?

Project life

2011-02-09T20:41:00.000-08:00

I am so excited... I got my Persnikety prints order today... which means that i got my 8x8 layout, my 8.5x11inch layouts... yes and my 8x8 page protectors in the mail today... now i am just waiting on the 8.5x11 inch page protectors... I know that my project life isnt going to be as uniformed as if i had bought the kit... but it will have my personality written all over it...
I used a lot of stuff that i had and bought some new stuff... mainly page protectors bought... but i cut down a lot of my own cardstock down to 4x6 and 4x3... So it will definitely be colorful... it has been fun so far... Once i get a chance i will post some more photos... of the album... Would love to see anyone elses project life and thier progress... Please comment and paste in a link to your blog...

Valentines Day (Kid's project)

2011-02-01T21:15:00.000-08:00

Hi everyone... it's been a LONG time....so I'll just jump right into it.

My Boppa is now at the age where she is aware of Holidays. You may remember last year when we made an Easter Egg Mobile. This is very similar. This craft literally cost me $1.00.

SUPPLIES:

Heart Doilies from the Dollar Tree

Acrylic Paint in 3 colors

paint brushes

Scrapbook paper

Extra Frame (I used an 8x10)

The Boppa and i started out picking our colors and laying out the hearts out on the table.

We painted them how we wanted them and then once they were dry we laid them under a book to stop them from curling.

Then she picked out some scrapbook paper and cut it to size. After attaching some yarn to the hearts we made holes in the paper. I followed "the Boppa's" instructions on this matter but you can certainly even out the spaces if you were to do this on your own.

We are so happy with the results and used the extra hearts to decorate our windows. This took us about 3 hours in total but did it over two days so the paint could dry totally.

Hope you guys gals like it as much as we do!!

Becky Higgins Project life

2010-12-30T20:50:00.000-08:00

Well, after much thinking and some advice from the hubby... I have decided not to purchase the project life by Becky Higgins... I am going to try to make it on my own... as my DH says " what does an experienced scrapbooker like yourself need with a kit? I mean you own thousands in scrapbooking supplies, you should be ashamed of yourself for wanting to purchase such a kit...the Kit is for those that are starting out in the scrapbooking" yeah i think he couldnt get over the 52.99 price tag... well lets see if i can make it cheaper? now I know someone who contributes to this site that bought one... Would love to see her's compared to mine... the actual Becky Higgins Project Life compared to my measly one... My husband gave me a challange and i am going to run with it... will post when i can... I know i havent posted as much as i like... New years resolution for me is to blog more...
I really wanted to get one... Its just not happening without the blessing of the DH... I love Becky Higgins and all her beautiful craftiness...
if you get one are you getting Turqouise or Amber? or are you going digital? which she hasnt released yet...
BTW Happy New year...

Happy Turkey Day…

2010-11-25T12:04:00.001-08:00

Happy Gobble Gobble To all my wonderful friends and family…

I am thankful for a few things… Number 1 Being my Husband Matthew…

Number 2 Being my Family (my mom, my dad, and even my brother)

Number 3… My wonderful In-laws… They truly are amazing…

Number 4…

Our wonderful dog (Beagle) the Notorious D.O.G…. Norton

Number 5… Our friendships that we have… They mean the world to us…

Number 6… My new found family on my Randy’s side… I met My “DAD” for the first time in December 2009 and was finally able to meet my sister and her family in august 2010… I am so grateful that I have other siblings that are closer in age to me… and that we now have somewhat of a relationship… it is a work in progress… My sister and I hit it off and I can not wait to meet my brother and my Sister in law and my two nephews… In may I was able to meet my Step mom Karen up at the Big Bear Cabin… it was a lovely day… unfortunately I didn’t take any photos…

So I have a lot to be thankful for… rounding out my top 10… are as follows

#7 Health, #8 roof over our heads, #9 Working and #10 able to put food on the table…

I am also thankful for the slow return of my creativeness… I have done a few more traditional layouts that I will share later on… So thankful for the long weekend…

What are you all thankful for?

More Digi pages

2010-11-05T20:38:00.001-07:00

As you all know I have been trying to get my scrapping up to date and the best way I know how is to cheat a little with the digi… Which helps me a lot when I am feeling a bit overwhelmed… and certainly there are things that I can do digi that I would have a harder time doing as traditional… The first two layouts are everything from Creative memories… except the pictures of course… The one at the bottom Oktoberfest I got the digi stuff From Ryn Creations So much cute stuff… since I really only had 2 pictures I just decided to do a somewhat plain layout…
