So yeah, I've been absent for a wee little bit... ok so maybe a little more then wee, but just a little!! I've been crazy and once again my life has been completely turned around, but it's looking up up up!! and you need to be prepared for some serious creativity and cookery! This blog will be once more!

So I'm starting with this new market bag I just finished! Cute eh? I'm a big fan of it! I made one years ago in yellow but with my move and everything I tossed it! (to be fair it was super worn out at that point.) This one I've made in more neutral colors, It tends to be all I wear any who! Pastels and neutrals!

So what can you look forward to you ask? Well I've bought stuff to begin my very first quilt. I'm also starting a hot water bottle cover, and my massive grey cuddly cable cardi is well on it's way at this point and I hope to finish it before the year end! My Cooking is still a bit lax, as I don't quite have my own kitchen yet, but I'll see what I can do about getting a little bit in there too!

Strawberry Rhubarb Smoothies!

This is my first ever time using rhubarb. It's definitely a weird thing! I stewed it as they say and it was easier then I thought. I keep reading that one can stew with apples which I might try next! I decided that for my first go though I would use my bran new blender! It's perfect, exactly what I wanted and oh so cute too! I made a strawberry rhubarb smoothie and it was delish!

Strawberry Rhubarb Smoothie

1/2 cup of stewed rhubarb
1/2 strawberries
1/2 apple juice
4 table spoons of yogurt
1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

And simply blend it all together!

Roast Chicken

After the holidays chickens go on sale, its perfect! What better then a sunday roast! We had chicken, stuffing, roast potatoes and peas, simple and sweet a lovely meal! The question is what to do with the leftovers? I usually spend the week secretly munching on the left over chicken and skipping proper meals. One of my new year resolutions though is to attempt a 5 a day lifestyle! 5 servings of fruit and veg every day. so I'm counting this wonderful honey mustard apple celery chicken salad as my 3rd of 5 a day!

I love snow! I always get super excited about snow and have been super bummed by the idea of moving to London where they in theory get very little snow. Since I've been here they've got more and more snow, its wonderous! I couldn't resist the clean snow today to make a snow kitty, even if it was to powdery to even make a snowball!

Sweet Potato French Toast Bites, these were absolutely delicious, and a great way to use up bread before it gets stale! I adore sweet potato and all of it's friends, squash, pumpkin, the taste of fall indeed! yum! yum! yum!

I like to imagine that I have regular blog readers and that they would be exceptionally devastated due to my recent lack of posting. The flaw in this amazing plan is the fact that this recent lack of posting tends to be quite regular. But I swear I have a good excuse! This is a floor plan of the Queen's House in Greenwich, its much more of a design floor plan then a technical one as its more about the tiles, and mouldings, then the building dimensions (however don't get me wrong they're all to scale.)
This is a section of the same building, also more of a design section. They've both been sketched out in vectorworks ( a program I just taught myself) to scale, then transferred to illustrator and detailed tile... by tile... It wasn't about the ease it was about exploring the space, exploring how things such as tiles, windows, doors, and extreme crown moulding fits into the space. This is what I've been doing with my lack of blogging life. Tons and tons of things like this.

Trés Berry Galette

Blueberries... Strawberries... and Blackberries.... are what make up my Trés Berry Galette! I adore the taste of mix berries but for just two a whole pie never seems to get eaten! So I decided to turn my very special pie dough recipe into a single crust and form a small two person Galette.

My pie crust recipe has been adjusted many times in an attempt to perfect it, I really feel like I have the perfect crust down. However because of that it's top secret! So I absolutely can not post it, but you can use your own favourite pie crust recipe. Mine's an all butter crust which worked absolutely perfect for my Galette.

The insides consisted of a bit of lemon juice, tons of berries and a whole bunch of sugar! I added a bit of cornstarch also to thicken it up a bit so that it didn't wet the bottom crust too much and make it mushy. It worked out so well, one big golden crusted fruity, sugary, galette.

After crafting the strawberry and getting feedback on my jam cosies I decided to get a bit more into the idea of fruit! All made with a thin cotton to really emphasis the nice rustic quality that is homemade jam. I loved making these and they went so fast! I'm thinking about making a pattern set of them and selling it on Ravelry, I think they'd make great christmas presents! Maybe one day when I have more then just my little balcony garden.

Blackberry-Apple Muffins

I received some fresh picked Blackberries and decided what better to make with them then muffins! Waking up early one morning due to an early phone call I took some leftover apples and threw them in! I've been getting a lot of requests for recipes so I'll throw in my muffin one. I've edited a bit in an attempt to perfect it and as most things these muffins are best fresh!

INGREDIENTS
(I half all of my recipes as I'm only cooking for two)
- 3 cups of all-purpose flour
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 10 tbsp salted butter (1 1/4 sticks)
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cup plain yogurt
- 1 cup blackberries
- 1/2 cup apples

METHOD

- Preheat oven to 375f(190c)
- Whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and set aside.
- In large mixing bowl, cream butter and sugar together until fluffy! Add eggs one at a time and beat until incorporated.
- Beat in one half of the dry ingredients, one half of yogurt, one half of dry ingredients, and one half of yogurt, beat between each addition until just incorporated, do not over beat.
- Fold in fruit, be careful not to completely demolish blackberries.
- Place into buttered muffin tin and bake until muffins are golden brown, about 25 to 30 min. Test with a long toothpick to make sure centre of muffins are done and let cool for atleast 5 min.

Oh look at this little cutie! Meet little Will, he's sporting the hat I made just for him and his fellow expat mommy, Angela! He's so adorable, I could not wait to send this hat, I didn't even take a picture before it went into the mailbox! Luckily she's an amazing photographer and it got to her super fast so I could update you folks on my knitting adventures once again!

Cozy Jam

This Sunday at work I made Jam Cozies, I didn't even know such an amazing thing existed! I think they would be fun to make into little christmas gifts, of course only if I get the time to make my very own homemade jam! I've never done it on my own and my parents never made it look easy for sure! I've been knitting up a storm, knitting baby hats on commission. It's ruined my creativity a bit... and all my time as they wanted it done in two days, two absolutely crazy knitting days!

Moussaka

I made Moussaka last weekend and I sat around wondering if I could really do yet another recipe update. So much food and so little else that I promised! I'm still knitting, still crafting and gardening my heart out, but nothing has reached it's finished stages yet so nothing has been brought to your attention. I promise to work hard to finish at least one project, and my pepper plants have tons of little white flowers which is very promising! For now I update you with my first attempt at moussaka, there it is almost gone already! It was so tasty my girl friend didn't believe it was my first time! Even the Béchamel browned so heavenly on the top, I couldn't take the photograph as fast as I wanted to eat it!

Summer Salads

Summer Salads are by far one of my favourite things in the entire world. There's nothing like the crisps greens after a long hot day. (Though to be honest it was a bit more of a busy weekend then a long hot day.) This was directly before I put the grilled honey mustard chicken on top, I just had to take pics as it was cooking, that or I was going to eat the entire salad before it even finished!

A Sweet Bread for Chimps

When I saw this bread, complete with stories from a childhood on Butter and Cream's Blog I couldn't help but instantly fall in love. I knew this would taste amazing yet before this moment I had never heard of such a thing! I joked with my friends about putting chimpanzee inside of bread to the point where my friends started asking me how was my "sweet bread for chimps" and let me tell you, it was amazing! It's so sticky and sweet that it's almost to much to eat, but you don't want to stop! I didn't defer much from the recipe posted on Butter and Cream's blog as I had never even heard of the bread let alone made it. I did however decide it was already to sweet to put icing on top of so skipped that part, which in my opinion makes it ok to eat for breakfast... hehe.
