We were very lucky with the weather today - mostly blue skies, but very blustery!

Well done to Linda Berriman for a stunning performance - 42 points in that wind is a very good result.

Lubo Matis won the 'Archie Sampson Trophy' for the best stableford score across the par 3 holes. Lubo scored 11 points. Well done!

The Yellow Ball Challenge was won by Team 3 - Lubo Matis, Robbie Burns, Nick Carter & Martin Whelan - with a score of 32 points, and they managed to keep the yellow ball until the end of the round.

Bert announced that the Society AGM would be held on Wednesday 18th January 2012 at Sidcup Recreation Club at 8.00 pm. We would like a good turn out, so please try to be there.

November 2011 - Poult Wood

It sounds like I missed a great day at Poult Wood on Tuesday. The weather held and there was a good turn out including 5 guests. Lubo Matis and Richard Linney won the A Division and B Division competitions respectively, and Brian Bendle won the guest prize.

That is two monthly competitions in a row for El Bandito Linney!

The A division points competition has been won by Mark Hopkins by 3 points, ahead of Lubo Matis in second place. The B Division points competition was won by Derek Howe, with Richard Linney coming up on the rails to take second place.

Well done all, and I'm looking forward to seeing you all at the December Fun Day at Upchurch River Valley.

October 2011 - Kent & Surrey Golf & Country Club

Another great society golf day was held at Kent & Surrey today. We held a number of competions with the following winners:-

Mark Hopkins and Richard Linney won the A Division and B Division competitions respectively.

Jim Pullum won the 28 Handicap competition.

The B Division beat the A Division in the annual inter-division competition.

Well done to all todays winners.

September 2011 - Gillingham

It sounds like I missed a good day at Gillingham on Tuesday. Well done to Nick Carter and Steve Gould who won the A Division and B Division respectively with a score of 67. Well played both of you!

Nick Carter also won the putting competition with 30 putts - Again well done!

Lastly, Bob Evans beat Steve Gould in the final of the knock out competition. Well done Champ!

August 2011

Congratulations to Mark Hopkins and Derek Howe for winning the August monthly competition. Mark won the A division with a score of 39 points, and Derek won the B division with 37 points. Well done Captain, and well done to Derek following up on a few second places!

Captains Day - Cray Valley - 24 July 2011

Mark Hopkins had a very good turnout for his Captain's Day at Cray Valley today, and there were some excellent scores all round. Well done to Tom Hastie who won the main competition with a tremendous 46 points. Derek Howe was runner-up for the third competition running with 45 points. In the guest competition J Davis won with a commendable 44 points.

It was great to have Roy Dennis join us for the meal following his recent operation. It was good to see you Roy!

Our thanks go to Mark for organising the day, and providing the refreshments and the competition prizes. It was a great day - well done Mark - a Captain's Day to remember!

July 2011 - Lullingstone

We were very lucky, yet again, with the weather this month at Lullingstone. The rain held off and, although it was a little windy, I think most people emjoyed the challenge.

Well done to Joolz Hemborough and Cliff Riley for excellent rounds of 69. Thats two wins each this year. Well done!

What a fantastic day we had today at Upchurch River Valley. The course was in very good condition, the sun was shining, and they fed as very well.

May 2011 - Weald of Kent

Congratulations to Tony Middleditch and Martin Whelan on winning at the Weald of Kent. Tony was in good form scoring a very impressive 64, but this has led to a handicap cut of 4 shots. Martin scored 68 and loses 2 shots from his handicap. Well done!

April 2011 - High Elms

April's society meeting at High Elms was a very well attended meeting with 31 golfers playing (mostly) under a blue sky. Joolz Hembrough won the A division with 36 points and Dave Reid won the B division with 35 points. Well done! It was great to see so many old faces, new members and guests.

February 2011 - 2011 Venues Now Published

Hi One and All,

It's time to get those clubs out, give them a good clean, and to hit a few balls on the range. The venues for the year have now been published (see the Venues tab) and the weather is gradually getting warmer.

News from the AGM is that our handicaps will be cut in the same way as last year - you will be cut just one shot for winning a competition plus a cut for standard of play if you score better than your handicap (half the difference between your score and your handicap). It was agreed that there would continue to be no cuts for winning the stableford and stroke play averages (Oops - I got this wrong at the last meeting! There were no cuts for last years stableford and stroke play averages after all!) Also welcome to our new members: Geoff Bean, Lyn Riley and Tony Rossiter.

Another great Christmas fun day at Upchurch River Valley. We had a great cooked breakfast, a cold but mainly dry golf day and a super Christmas dinner.Brilliant! Well done to Martin Whelan who won the overall fun day competition, and also to Jim Pullum who won the par 3 competition. Luckily for Martin and Jim there are no handicap cuts for these competitions.

Bert also announced the winners of the stableford and stroke play averages for 2010. They are:

Well done to Tom Hastie Snr for winning the A Division trophy at the November meeting at High Elms and also to Jim Pullum for winning the B Division trophy. It was a bit damp for a few of the holes but luckily the rain did not last too long!

October 2010 - Chelsfield Lakes

Congratulations to Nick Isom for winning the A Division trophy at the October meeting and to Rob Burns who won the B Division trophy.

Chelsfield Lakes also hosted the annual A Division versus the B Division competition which I understand was won by the A Division team by 6 points to 3. Well done to all those who played.

October proved to be another high scoring meeting, with 12 members playing better than their handicaps, so I have been busy cutting handicaps again - such joy!

Lastly, well done to Mick Pressland in winning the 2010 knock out competition, and also to John Kitchingham for reaching the final.

Mick Taylor and Bob Evans won the September monthly competition for the A and B divisions at Poult Wood. Well done to you both. There were a number of good scores this month so I have been in my element wielding my handicap cutting sabre.

John Kitchingham and Mick Pressland both won through to the final of the 2010 Knockout Competition, beating Rob Moloney and Bert Styles. Good luck in the final guys and let the best man win!

News from our August meeting:

Well done to Nick Carter and Rob Burns in winning the August 2010 monthly competition in the A division and B division respectively.

The other news worthy of reporting here is the endeavours of the Riley family at the August competition. First of all congratulations to Lin on winning the guest prize with a terrific score of 41 points (I feel a handicap cut coming!). On the other hand ....... Cliff ...... Oh dear! ..... The Stick Man.
