Description: Οι οινοποιοί της Κρήτης ετοιμάζονται για τέταρτη συνεχή χρονιά να καλωσορίσουν τους φίλους του κρητικού αμπελώνα στην Έκθεση «ΟΙΝΟΤΙΚΑ», που θα πραγματοποιηθεί στις 11 και 12 Μαρτίου 2012, στον χώρο εκδηλώσεων, «Κήπο των Αισθήσεων» στις Μαλάδες.

Με αφορμή λοιπόν, την ευρεία απήχηση της έκθεσης τα τρία προηγούμενα έτη, οι οινοποιοί μας προσκαλούν να περιηγηθούμε μαζί τους στις διαδρομές του κρασιού και να γνωρίσουμε τα μυστικά του, τις δυνατότητες του και τη δυναμική του αλλά και τον ξεχωριστό του χαρακτήρα.

Οι επισκέπτες της έκθεσης θα έχουν την ευκαιρία να γευτούν κρασιά παλιάς και νέας εσοδείας από 23 διαφορετικά οινοποιεία του νησιού, να έρθουν σε επαφή με τους παραγωγούς τους, να ανταλλάξουν απόψεις και ιδέες σχετικά με την προώθηση, την ποιοτική αναβάθμιση και την προβολή ενός από τα βασικότερα προϊόντα του νησιού καθώς και να ενημερωθούν για τις τρέχουσες εξελίξεις στον τομέα της οινοποίησης.

Στη φετινή έκθεση θα υπάρχουν παράλληλες εκδηλώσεις με σκοπό να προσφέρουν μια επιπλέον διάσταση. Ενδεικτικά αναφέρεται, η ομαδοποιημένη παρουσίαση των γλυκών κρασιών της Κρήτης, σε έναν ειδικά διαμορφωμένο χώρο, έτσι ώστε να δοθεί η ευκαιρία στους επισκέπτες να δημιουργήσουν μια ολοκληρωμένη αντίληψη για το συγκεκριμένο είδος.

Τη Δευτέρα 12 Μαρτίου και ώρα 10.00 π.μ., θα πραγματοποιηθεί μια δίωρη συνέντευξη και παρουσίαση του επιχειρησιακού προγράμματος ΚΟΑ, στο πλαίσιο του οποίου έλαβαν μέρος τα δίκτυα της Κρήτης και το Επιμελητήριο Ηρακλείου. Κεντρικός στόχος του προγράμματος είναι η κοινή προώθηση του κρητικού κρασιού και του τουριστικού προϊόντος που απορρέει απ αυτό. Καλεσμένοι της συγκεκριμένης εκδήλωσης θα είναι οι τοπικές αρχές, τα Επιμελητήρια και τα τοπικά ΜΜΕ.

Σας περιμένουμε λοιπόν να τσουγκρίσουμε τα ποτήρια μας και να απολαύσουμε κρασιά που έγιναν με μεράκι και πολλή αγάπη από τους οινοποιούς του νησιού.

ΣΤΗΝ ΚΟΜΜΩΤΙΚΗ ΤΕΧΝΗ HAIRDRESSING ART
1. ΑΝΔΡΙΚΟ ΚΟΥΡΕΜΑ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα ανδρικό κούρεμα επί σκηνής. Δεν υπάρχει καμία σχετική προετοιμασία εκτός του χρωστικού μέρους το οποίο δεν είναι απαραίτητο στην κατηγορία αλλά επιτρέπεται εάν το επιθυμεί ο διαγωνιζόμενος. Χρόνος επί σκηνής 25 λεπτά.

2. ΑΝΔΡΙΚΟ TRIIBALL
Η προετοιμασία του κεφαλιού ( κόντεμα μαλλιών στο μήκος που επιθυμεί ο κάθε διαγωνιζόμενος). Η διαδικασία αυτή μπορεί να έχει ήδη γίνει από πριν
Το θέμα είναι αυστηρά tribal και όχι π.χ. πρόσωπο, δράκο κ.λ.π. τα οποία δεν αντιστοιχούν στο θέμα. tribal
Απαγορεύεται να έχει ζωγραφιστεί οποιοδήποτε σχέδιο πάνω στο κεφάλι με μαρκαδόρο ή με οτιδήποτε άλλο το οποίο μπορεί να δίνει τα χαρακτηριστικά του σχεδίου ώστε να βοηθήσει τον διαγωνιζόμενο να «πατήσει» επάνω με την μηχανή και να σχεδιάσει.
Δεν θα πρέπει ο διαγωνιζόμενος να χρησιμοποιήσει φωτογραφία ή εκτύπωση κάποιου σχεδίου το οποίο να βλέπει μπροστά του και να αντιγράφει. Πρέπει να είναι καθαρά σχέδιο της φαντασίας του.
Για κάθε διαγωνιζόμενο επιτρέπεται να χρησιμοποιήσει για το σχέδιο του μηχανές κουρέματος και ξυράφι, τίποτε άλλο.
Χρόνος επι σκηνής 45 λεπτά

3. ΝΥΦΙΚΟ ΧΤΕΝΙΣΜΑ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος καλείται να παρουσιάσει ένα νυφικό χτένισμα επί σκηνής. Έχει δικαίωμα κατά την προετοιμασία να έχει ολοκληρώσει το χρωστικό μέρος και να χτενίσει απλά και ίσια τα μαλλιά του μοντέλου. Απαγορεύετε να χρησιμοποιήσει κάθε είδους πρόσθετα μαλλιά (συμπεριλαμβανομένου και μπομπάρια), ενώ επιτρέπετε η χρήση σε στολίδια και αξεσουάρ καλύπτοντας την επιφάνεια έως 30%.
Η συμμετοχή σε αυτή την κατηγορία απαιτεί απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση την εμφάνιση του μοντέλου αντιστοίχως και ενδυματολογικά.
Χρόνος επί σκηνής 35 λεπτά

4. ΒΡΑΔΙΝΟ ΧΤΕΝΙΣΜΑ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος καλείται να παρουσιάσει ένα βραδινό χτένισμα επί σκηνής. Έχει δικαίωμα κατά την προετοιμασία να έχει ολοκληρώσει το χρωστικό μέρος και να χτενίσει απλά και ίσια τα μαλλιά του μοντέλου. Μπορεί να χρησιμοποιήσει κάθε είδους πρόσθετα μαλλιά (συμπεριλαμβανομένου και μπομπάρια) καθώς επίσης στολίδια και αξεσουάρ καλύπτοντας την επιφάνεια έως 30%.
Η συμμετοχή σε αυτή την κατηγορία απαιτεί απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση την εμφάνιση του μοντέλου αντιστοίχως και ενδυματολογικά.
Χρόνος επί σκηνής 35 λεπτά

5. ΜΟΝΤΕΡΝΟ ΓΥΝΑΙΚΕΙΟ ΛΟΥΚ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα μοντέρνο γυναικείο λουκ επί σκηνής. Θα πρέπει να χρησιμοποιήσει το λιγότερο δυο χρώματα (το χρωστικό μέρος είναι ήδη έτοιμο). Απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση είναι το κούρεμα και το χτένισμα να βασίζεται πάνω σε μοντέρνες γραμμές που εκφράζουν το σήμερα και την εποχή μας. Ενδυματολογικά θα πρέπει να εναρμονίζεται με τη γενικότερη εμφάνιση του μοντέλου για την καλύτερη επιρροή των κριτών και του κοινού. Χρόνος επί σκηνής 30 λεπτά
6. ΧΤΕΝΙΣΜΑ ΦΑΝΤΑΣΙΑΣ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα χτένισμα φαντασίας, ένα χτένισμα που παραπέμπει σε κάτι φανταστικό, σε κάτι που δεν το συναντάμε στην καθημερινή μας ζωή. Το θέμα είναι ελεύθερο και επιτρέπεται η χρήση όλων των πρόσθετων μαλλιών, στολιδιών και αξεσουάρ. Το μοντέλο είναι ήδη έτοιμο και επί σκηνής απλά παρουσιάζεται εν' όποιων κοινού και κριτών.
Ενδυματολογικά θα πρέπει να εναρμονίζεται με τη γενικότερη εμφάνιση του μοντέλου για την καλύτερη επιρροή των κριτών και του κοινού. Χρόνος επί σκηνής 15 λεπτά

7. ΓΕΝΙΚΟ ΣΥΝΟΛΟ ΜΟΔΑΣ
Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα στυλ που πολλές φορές παραπέμπει σε ένα συγκεκριμένο χαρακτήρα, ή μια συγκεκριμένη ομάδα ή κατηγορία ανθρώπων. Εδώ εναρμονίζεται όλη η εμφάνιση του μοντέλου, ενώ επιτρέπεται η χρήση όλων των πρόσθετων μαλλιών, στολιδιών και αξεσουάρ. Το αποτέλεσμα θα πρέπει να παραπέμπει σε κάτι που υπήρξε ή υπάρχει θεωρητικά ή πραγματικά όπως π.χ. μια νεράιδα. Απαγορεύεται να παραπέμπει σε κάποιο δημόσιο φορέα (στρατό, αστυνομία) και γενικότερα να μην προσβάλει ή γελοιοποιεί κάποια κατηγορία, ομάδα ή κάποιο συγκεκριμένο πρόσωπο.
Η κατηγορία αυτή έρχεται πολλές φορές σε σύγχυση με την κατηγορία ΧΤΕΝΙΣΜΑ ΦΑΝΤΑΣΙΑΣ αλλά η κύρια διαφορά τους είναι ότι εδώ παρουσιάζεται ένα σύνολο που παραπέμπει απαραίτητα σε κάτι, ενώ στο χτένισμα φαντασίας βαθμολογείται κυρίως το χτένισμα και μπορεί να είναι απόλυτα φανταστικό και δεν απαιτείται απαραίτητα να παραπέμπει κάπου.
Το μοντέλο παρουσιάζεται έτοιμο εν' οποίων κριτών και κοινού. Χρόνος επί σκηνής 15 λεπτά

ΣΤΗΝ ΤΕΧΝΗ ΤΟΥ ΜΑΚΙΓΙΑΖ MAKE UP ART
1. Βραδινό Μακιγιάζ: Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα μακιγιάζ ελεύθερου θέματος. Απαραίτητη προϋπόθεση είναι το μακιγιάζ να βασίζεται πάνω σε μοντέρνες γραμμές που εκφράζουν το σήμερα και την εποχή μας. Ενδυματολογικά θα πρέπει να εναρμονίζεται με την γενικότερη εμφάνιση του μοντέλου για την καλύτερη επιρροή των κριτών και του κοινού.

2. Μακιγιάζ Φαντασίας (creative make up): Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει ένα μακιγιάζ όπου εκτός από τα μάτια μπορεί να καλύπτει και την περιοχή του πρόσωπου, του λαιμού, του ντεκολτέ κλπ χωρίς όμως αυτό να είναι δεσμευτικό. Επειδή το θέμα είναι ελεύθερο επιτρέπεται η χρήση όλων των ειδών προϊόντων. Ενδυματολογικά θα πρέπει να εναρμονίζεται με την γενικότερη εμφάνιση του μοντέλου για την καλύτερη επιρροή των κριτών και του κοινού
Και στις δύο κατηγορίες το μοντέλο είναι έτοιμο προετοιμασμένο και παρουσιάζεται εν' όποιων κοινού και κριτών. Χρόνος επί σκηνής 15 λεπτά

ΣΤΗΝ ΤΕΧΝΗ ΠΕΡΙΠΟΙΗΣΗΣ ΑΚΡΩΝ NAIL ART

Εδώ ο διαγωνιζόμενος θα πρέπει να παρουσιάσει τη δουλειά του στα χέρια ενός μοντέλου έτοιμα προετοιμασμένο εν' όποιων κοινού και κριτών. Το θέμα είναι ελεύθερο και επιτρέπεται η χρήση όλων των ειδών προϊόντων. Το μάκρος νυχιών δεν είναι δεσμευτικό. Ενδυματολογικά θα πρέπει να εναρμονίζεται με την γενικότερη εμφάνιση του μοντέλου.
Χρόνος επι σκηνής 15 λεπτά.

Στην κατηγορίες MAKE UP και NAIL ART μπορούν να συμμετέχουν μοντέλα που συμμετείχαν και σε άλλες κατηγορίες π.χ. νυφικό χτένισμα , χτένισμα φαντασίας κλπ. Με το ίδιο μοντέλο μπορεί να κατέβει σε περισσότερες από μια κατηγορίες και να συμμετέχει ο ίδιος διαγωνιζόμενος ή κάποιος άλλος που δούλεψε επάνω στο μοντέλο. Π.χ. ένα μοντέλο που παρουσιάζεται στην κατηγορία ΒΡΑΔΙΝΟ ΧΤΕΝΙΣΜΑ μπορεί να παρουσιαστεί και στην κατηγορία MAKE UP ART και στην κατηγορία NAIL ART, και να διαγωνισθεί ένας ή δυο ή τρεις διαφορετικοί διαγωνιζόμενοι (π.χ. ο κομμωτής, ο make up artist, ο nail artist)

Οι παραπάνω κατηγορίες του διαγωνισμού διαχωρίζονται για τους επαγγελματίες και τους σπουδαστές.
Οι όροι και οι προϋποθέσεις που ισχύουν είναι ίδιοι με το ΠΡΩΤΑΘΛΗΜΑ CROSS, παρακαλώ διαβάστε προσεκτικά ότι ισχύει για την κάθε κατηγορία. Σας προτείνουμε να διαβάσετε όλα όσα ισχύουν για όλες τις κατηγορίες και να δώσετε έπειτα την βαρύτητα που απαιτείται στις κατηγορίες που ενδιαφέρεσθε να συμμετέχετε.

Description: The Department of Educational Programs tries to convert the children's visit to the museum to a pleasant educative experience. It has organized 7 educational programs up to now and continues to generate new programs.
The programs are built around the three main themes of the museum: Folk culture and traditional life, environment and folk art.

The objectives set for them are:

To familiarize the children with the museum exhibits and the sense of tradition.
To make them realize the interrelation between man and nature.
To nurture their aesthetic criterion.
To encourage them to undertake action for the preservation of our folk culture and environment.
To cultivate the children's special skills and competences (imagination, creativity, critical thinking, initiative, autonomy, social interaction).

Theoretical basis and methods

The educational programs are based on constructive learning. The children are not considered as passive receivers of information but as active creators of knowledge. They are called to discover and generate knowledge, which is built gradually upon their previous experience. The learning is child-centric, dialogic, and connected with the national curriculum. It is achieved through the activation of all the senses in role games, acting, dancing, story telling, artistic creation etc. The educational material consists of audiovisuals, cases with educational objects, leaflets and questionnaires. The latter are in the form of multiple-choice test and are used as a knowledge game.

The educational programs -generally concerning children between 4-12 years old- are the following:

1. "The aroma of tradition".
This program is based on aspects of the Cretan folk culture and environment and its interrelation with the local people. It is applied in the museum's windmill, threshing- floor and herb garden, and introduces the traditional occupations of milling and threshing as well as the fascinating world of Cretan herbs and rhymes.
Period of realization: April-October

2. "The anonymous artist".
This program takes place in the gallery of folk art exhibits as well as around the open-air art exhibits. It concerns folk art and aesthetic education. It attempts to familiarize the children with the materials, techniques and topics preferred by naive artists. The children are called to observe, discuss, play and create their own pieces of art.

Period of realization: April-October

3. "The rainbow of nature".
The program takes place in the gallery of recyclable material. It concerns environmental education. At first the children observe and identify plants and then they come to realize how useless material can be converted to useful objects with a different use through recycling.

Period of realization: April-October

4. "The coastal lily returns to the coast".
This program is in the context of environmental education.
Lilies where flourishing in the coasts of Hersonisos before the development of "package tourism".
The program contains the re-planting of the endangered species at the coast around the museum through a team activity with specific roles for each participant.

Period of realization: November- December

5. "Child and tradition"
The program takes place at the open-air theater and the museum courtyard. It contains the theatrical version of a local tale and an activity about traditional toys.

Period of realization: September

6. "Feast with the bees"
It attempts to familiarize the children with the bees' society and the production of honey and wax. Using the "spider strategy" the children gather information, create the "tale of the honeycomb" and act it.

Period of realization: April-October

7. "Hersonisos, the history of a sunk town".
The program concerns adolescents between 12-14 years old. It takes place at archaeological sites and monuments of Hersonisos.
It attempts to make the students realize the historical continuity of the area and to re-conceptualize life during the Classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Early Christian years. It motivates the students to gather information from various sources, -using also oral history-, and prepare a short publication or poster.

Ο φακός του φωτογράφου εστιάζει στον άνθρωπο, στο χώρο, το αντικείμενο, την δραστηριότητα και αποτυπώνει... Σκηνές από επαγγελματικές δραστηριότητες με πρωταγωνιστή τον άνθρωπο που ασκεί μια δραστηριότητα. Επίσης σκηνές από επαγγελματικές δραστηριότητες που υπονοούν την ύπαρξη του ανθρώπινου στοιχείου.

Δικαίωμα στον διαγωνισμό έχουν όλοι οι ερασιτέχνες και επαγγελματίες φωτογράφοι ανεξάρτητα από εθνικότητα, τόπο διαμονής, χώρα, κλπ..

Οι φωτογραφίες θα κριθούν από 5μελή επιτροπή η οποία θα αποτελείται από τους:

Θεοδωρόπουλο Δημήτρη, Διευθυντή φωτογραφίας, επίκουρο καθηγητή, ΑΠΘ - τμήμα κινηματογράφου
Κόη Σάββα, φωτογράφο μέλος του ΔΣ της ΛΕΦΚΙ
Πλατή Νίκο, συγγραφέα
Σγουράκη Γιώργο, Πολιτικό Επιστήμονα, Παραγωγό - Σκηνοθέτη, πρόεδρο Ελλήνων παραγωγών κινηματογράφου - τηλεόρασης
Σιάκα Θ. Σπύρο, δρ. στην Εξ αποστάσεως Εκπαίδευση, Σκηνοθέτη animation, εκπαιδευτικό.

Θα δοθούν 3 βραβεία και 3 έπαινοι.

Οι φωτογραφίες που θα επιλεγούν από την κριτική επιτροπή θα εκτυπωθούν και θα παρουσιαστούν σε έκθεση που θα γίνει στα Χανιά, αλλά και σε άλλες πόλεις της Ελλάδας αμέσως μετά την λήξη του διαγωνισμού. Παράλληλα θα αποτελέσουν υλικό για έκδοση πολυτελούς φωτογραφικού λευκώματος το οποίο θα δοθεί σε όλους τους συμμετέχοντες στο διαγωνισμό (ανεξαρτήτως βραβείων ή αναρτήσεων).

Τελευταία μέρα αποστολής υλικού για συμμετοχή στον διαγωνισμό ορίζεται το Σάββατο 31 Δεκεμβρίου 2011 (σφραγίδα ταχυδρομείου). Πέρα αυτής καμιά συμμετοχή δεν θα γίνεται δεκτή. Τα αποτελέσματα θα ανακοινωθούν την Πέμπτη 15 Φεβρουαρίου 2012.

Description: The First International Mediterranean Festival of Arts will be held in Heraklion (Crete, Greece) from 21 September to 2 October 2011. The main goal of the Festival is not just to promote the rich historical and cultural heritage of Crete and Greece at large, but also the contribution of Crete and the Hellenic Republic as a whole to the spiritual development of mankind. Our purpose is to make Heraklion and Crete an influential cultural centre not only of the Mediterranean region, but of the entire world.

Within the Festival program there will be held numerous concerts of classical and folk music, performances by ballet and folk dance companies. Our Festival will be staged at the highest international level. Distinguished performers in various genres from some thirty countries of the world and all five inhabited continents - from USA to New Zealand and from Russia to Africa - will participate in the Festival events.

The central event of our Festival will be the first-ever Crete International Tattoo dedicated to the 2,500th anniversary of the Battle of Marathon, the great victory of the Greek people and the entire Western civilization, and to the 70th jubilee of the Battle of Crete in 1941. The Tattoo will take place on 29 September - 2 October 2011, after four days of rehearsals. Nearly 1,500 musicians, members of over twenty military and civilian orchestras and bands from Greece and abroad will participate in the Crete Tattoo.

The culmination of the Festival will be the premiere of highlights from the opera Idomeneo, King of Crete by W.A. Mozart, with the participation of international stars. The first-ever staging of this great opera will be done on Crete (where the opera plot takes place) and what is even more important, in the historical and architectural setting of the Knossos Palace, a brilliant masterpiece of the world`s cultural heritage.

The forthcoming Festival events will be attended by numerous audiences from Heraklion and Crete, guests from other parts of Greece and foreign tourists. A considerable number of concerts can be attended for free, on charity principle. A part of funds raised in charity concerts will be used to preserve the historical monuments of Crete.
The Festival will be widely covered by leading Greek and international mass media and information agencies. According to plans of the organizers, the Festival should become a major international cultural event and contribute to form a positive image of Greece.

Institution now the International Sculpture Symposium

The dream of the residents of Paliani to safeguard the institution of the International Sculpture Symposium and the creation of a large outdoor Sculpture Gallery, open to the public, is slowly - slowly come true!

The 5th International Sculpture Symposium Paliani underway these days in a specially designed area of Venerato. This time, as you can and next year, the symposium is supported by the Municipality of Heraklion, taking even more extensive.

Through the stone, the Cretan limestone, "emerge" human figures in a "magical" for the public process that only sculptors with their art they create. Everyone can watch this process, small and great, and the entrance to the site is free.

The sound of wheels, essential tools in modern sculpture in stone, and heard this year Venerato creating joy and excitement to the residents of the area since 2006 supporting the institution that went through great difficulties to reach the fifth consecutive tournament. It is the first time in Greece for five consecutive years of an international symposium of sculpture and even a village! The locals claim they like the institution. Local businesses were sponsors, teams participating in the tournament, while residents treat the sculptors with fruits, vegetables, olives, plenty of wine and raki.

The stone of patience ...

The theme of the fifth International Sculpture Symposium is the verse of Seferis: "The stone of patience expect a miracle."

The symposium participants this year, Professor of Sculpture, School of Fine Arts former Rector George Houliaras, Professor of Sculpture at the TEI of Athens Kyriakos Rokos and sculptors Jan Gkiknamper (France) Gabriel Grass (Romania) Adelina Montasie (France), Mayor George Nikolakakis Gouves and Assistant Head Silkchim (Albania) to Rosto Beata (Hungary), John Tsingenis (Heraklion), the Light Hatzakis (Avgeniki Paliani) and Manolis Harkoutsis (Venerato Paliani). Also taking part his assistant Mr. Chouliaras sculptor Andreas Arapakos.

The 5th International Sculpture Symposium Paliani began on July 23 in a specially designed area at the entrance of the village Venerato. The symposium will conclude on August 12. The evening will be the closing event of the symposium, which will display the works created by artists in front of art lovers. The Entrance is free, and at the end of the event will offer local dishes and excellent wines, offering clubs and winemakers in the region Palianis.

Very regularly, for hours every time he visits the site of the symposium, Heraklion mayor Yannis Kourakis. Daily site are the mayor Palianis Aristide bowl, Eva Tylianakis by the City of Heraklion and the Peace Senetaki Paliani.

The history of the event

The "spark" for the start of the international event was just an idea that had sculptors Tsoumplekas and Chris Manolis Harkoutsis, which suggested the mayor Aristides bowl which he immediately accepted.

This was the starting point in the summer of 2006, the organization of the International Sculpture Symposium Paliani, an institution that today has significant past and future, much more. Sculptors from various countries hosted by the municipality for about a month and carving their works before the eyes of art lovers. The projects remain in the municipality and copyrights for artists.

Initially no experience with the financial support institutions and entrepreneurs and the tireless work of municipal services and ordinary citizens', held the first International Meeting of Sculpture in September 2006 in the municipal area outside the monastery Palianis. Sculptors from Italy, Germany, Switzerland, Turkey and Greece have worked for a month then eager to give the municipality wonderful artwork.

The second International Sculpture Symposium Paliani in Summer 2007 with the support of the Union of Heraklion. Sculptors from Germany, Italy and Greece have worked at the Model Palianis Winery, then a site to deliver excellent work on "Hymn to Wine and its people." The works displayed at art modern winery.

The 3rd and the 4th International Symposium of Sculpture Paliani in 2008 and 2009 respectively, were made at the symposium this year, with the participation of artists from Greece and various countries and issues for the wine.

Michalis Stavrakakis was born in the village of Armanogeia in Heraklion on the island of Crete and brought up in Anogeia in Rethymnon in a family of many well known traditional musicians of the Cretan musical idiom. He is a self taught musician and learnt how to play the laouto and the mandolin with the help of some of the most renowned artists of the Cretan musical tradition.
During his 25-year -career, he has collaborated in concerts and recordings with some of the legendary figures of Cretan music such as Kostas Mountakis, Giannis Xylouris, Stelios Foustalierakis, Manolis Faragoulitakis, Vasilis Skoulas, Dimitris Sgouros and many others.
Together with Ross Daly and his cousins Vasilis and Mitsos, he was a founding member of the group "Labyrinth" in 1982. Later on he joined the group "Chainides".
He has developed a very special technique on the mandolin and he is considered the best mandolin player on Crete today. He has composed music for the theatre and he teaches at the State Music School for traditional music in Heraklion.

Zacharis Spyridakis is one of Crete's finest and most innovative lyra players. He was one of Kostas Mountakis' foremost students since childhood and, upon completing his studies, worked for many years as an assistant teacher to Mountakis. In recent years he founded the group Palaina Seferia, whose fresh and different approach to Cretan music deeply impressed Cretan music lovers on Crete as well as elsewhere. He also has broad experience in incorporating the lyra into ensembles of music other than Cretan. As a teacher, he is much sought after because of his extreme generosity in giving all he knows freely to his students, and also as a result of his particularly well-organized method of teaching.

The laouto was originally the most important instrument of accompaniment in Cretan music, but, in recent decades, it has also developed into a solo instrument in its own right. Giorgos Xylouris has played a very important role in this process, not only due to his numerous technical innovations, but especially due to his aesthetic approach. He studiously avoids any innovations which compromise the aesthetic individuality of Cretan music, whilst simultaneously working in a very creative and imaginative way with any elements which compliment it. This is a very difficult and time-consuming process which started many decades ago with his uncle Giannis Xylouris, who was considered to be one of the foremost laouto players of the second half of the 20th century, and who was Giorgos' teacher. Today Giannis and Giorgos Xylouris often perform duets together in which the laouto is featured as a solo instrument of exceptional beauty. In this seminar Giorgos will teach various aspects of the technique of the laouto as well as shedding light on the repertoire of Cretan music.

This seminar is tailored to students who, on the one hand, are at a beginner's level with regards to Cretan music and, on the other, to advanced musicians of other traditions who would like to become acquainted with the basic characteristics and repertoire of Cretan music. Certain very representative pieces will be worked on from all of the various regional idioms of the island

Stelios Petrakis belongs to the new generation of Greek musicians. Born into the Cretan musical tradition and having become one of the foremost masters of the Cretan lyra, he subsequently extended his musical interest to other related genres thus leading him to collaborate with many important Greek and foreign musicians.
He performs with his own ensemble in Greece as well as abroad and also works as a soloist with various respected composers and other musical ensembles both in concerts and recordings.
His two personal cds have received exceptional reviews and awards from the Greek and the international press.
The instruments he plays are constructed by Stelios himself and he also records his music in his own studio.

Description: One August sunset, the whole island of Crete is dancing to its unique rhythms. The main event takes place in the central road axis of Crete between Chania in the west and Aghios Nikolaos in the east, a length of 200,000 kilometres. It starts with a slow dance, the siganos, with 250000 plus dancing people, followed by professional Cretan dancers and "Friends of Crete" dancers, organized through local, national, and worldwide dance groups from New Zealand to Alaska, Canada, Greenland to Antarctica.
This event will capitalize on the advantages of the closing down of the island at night time. During the event, Crete, "Planet Crete", will be sending messages of fellowship, love and togetherness to all the peoples of the Earth, inviting them to dance along and come together to become one.
