Shahid Afridi and the Akmal brothers were fined Rs2-3 million for various misdemeanors and put on six-month probation. That is a whopping verdict against SEVEN top players of the present Pakistan cricket team.

“Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan, keeping in view their infighting which resulted in bringing down the whole team, their attitude has a trickledown effect which is a bad influence for the whole team should not be part of national team in any format,” Typically there was confusion and the board later appeared to climb down by clarifying that this was not the end of their careers. In a statement released at least six hours after the original release, the board said, “that the recommendation of the Committee is not a life ban on these cricketers. There is no specified term in the recommendation for these two players. As and when the PCB deems appropriate, these players will be considered for selection for the national team.”

“Rana Naved ul Hasan and Shoaib Malik be fined Rupees Two million. They should not be part of national team in any format for a period of one year.” Malik’s name has figured persistently at the centre of speculation over the last year in inciting player unrest within the team, though nothing substantial has appeared in public to back that up.

In contrast, the cases of Akmal brothers and Shahid Afridi are straightforward. The brothers were fined for their behavior in the aftermath of the Sydney Test; Kamran was dropped by the board but insisted publicly he would be selected in the run-up to the third Test. Younger brother Umar was alleged to have feigned an injury to not play the Test in protest, though he did eventually play. Kamran has been fined Rs 3 million, Umar Rs 2 million and the pair are on probation.

Afridi was punished for the ball-biting incident in the Perth ODI, where he was captain. He has already been punished by the ICC, who immediately gave him a two-match ban. “For the shameful act of Shahid Khan Afridi, which has brought the game and country into disrepute, he be fined Rupees 3 million,”

Personally I believe this is a very strong decision and fully support the PCB for making a stand against indiscipline. What only concerns me is it is the same board that tip-toed around Mohd Asif Dubai drug issue, he should have been let to rot in prison in the UAE as he had wholeheartedly disgraced the nation – yet he was released from Dubai and allowed to play in the team, then how can we forget the favoritism for Shoaib Akhtar. Both also need to be ushered out of cricket along with these seven disciplined players.

I am ready to guess counter law suits to come flying in left right and center from the players, im also ready to bet concessions will be made to face-save the situation and then I think I would go against the PCB. Indiscipline is a very eroding issue for a sporting team and it must and should be dealt sternly to prevent future issues, it has been left unchecked which has turned the Pakistan team into a roving team of lunatics. Time to hunt for new talent and time to make sure they know the rule book and simply concentrate on cricket and cricket alone. Till then we shall be found to rot at the bottom of the ICC rankings table

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had made a fresh appeal to Dubai authorities requesting them to revoke the ban but UAE has refuse to comply. It should be recalled that Mohd Asif was arrested in Dubai in June 2008 after he was caught in possession of small quantity of opium but with some arm wrestling by the Pakistani Govt it was dismissed.

PCB’s Chief Operating Officer, Wasim Bari, is quoted to have said “We made a request with the UAE authorities but they turned it down as it’s not possible under their laws,”

I’m shocked that Pakistani government had the galls to apply for a pardon after all what he did to disgrace the country in 2008. I say ban him for life, including Shahid Afridi

Ponting rightly said “If I was the fielding captain tonight, I would have definitely brought all the players in and had a chat to them about how they felt about it, That wasn’t the first spectator that had been out on the ground tonight either. That’s what I would have done if I’d been the captain out there.”

I believe Afridi was too preoccupied with other pressing issues that walking out would have been looked up unkindly by the english speaking audience after all the Aussies can do it in Pakistan but desi’s don’t have the balls to pull off a stunt like that in a jam packed english speaking stadium, unless its our famous Inzaman who chose to walk out of the oval

The PCB is seeking to make a fresh appeal to Dubai authorities requesting them to revoke the traveling restrictionson fast bowler Mohammad Asif who was banned from entering the UAE after being stopped with a small quantity of opium at Dubai airport in June 2008.

He spent 19 days in detention in the UAE and was barred from re-entering Dubai, though no criminal charges were pressed as the government of Pakistan intervened and help wriggle him out of jail. Last year the PCB had tried to negotiate Asif’s reentry into Dubai for the series with New Zealand but ran into a dead end, this year they will apparently try again.

Saldy my opinion back then was to leave this disgraceful cricket rotting in jail. He had gone to represent Pakistan and disgraced the nation in a foreign land, there should be no room for cheat and morons who think they can go skipping around tarnishing the name of Pakistan. Ban him (and Afridi) for life, from ever representing Pakistan ever again

As if the morale of the Pakistani nation could not be taken to another embarrassing lowest point on earth. Shahid Afridi was caught on TV actually biting the cricket ball, aka tampering to help his bowlers win matches. The 3rd umpire, Ranjan Madugalle caught the irregularity and instructed his on field umpires to confiscate the ball.

After the match, Afridi was called into a hearing with the match referee Ranjan Madugalle immediately after the match. Afridi pleaded guilty to the charge admitting to have tampered the ball but added that the practice was common among all teams.

“I shouldn’t have done it. It just happened. I was trying to help my bowlers and win a match, one match, There is no team in the world that doesn’t tamper with the ball. My methods were wrong. I am embarrassed, I shouldn’t have done it. I just wanted to win us a game but this was the wrong way to do it.”

The umpires have served him with a two 20-20 match ban, but I believe the Pakistan Cricket Board must take this into serious attention and serve a definite response, these representatives of the nation of Pakistan cannot and should not tarnish the image of a nation by publicly cheating, how can we be sure they haven’t done so in the past or will not engage in other forms of sporting corruption.

As if we weren’t already embarrassed enough with having a crook like Zardari running our country, we now have to face the world’s torment of labeling Pakistanis as sporting cheats. I am sorry, if someone cheats, regardless if he might be the super star of cricket in Pakistan, he must be simply expelled…. but sadly reality is that our country is brimful of one embarrassing example after another, be it politics or cricket, literally where do you start….

NewZealand: In the First Test match against Pakistan NZ put a reasonable total on the board. By repeating the triditions Pakistan batting lineup fell in trouble in the early session of the first inning. At one time Pakistan lose its five wickets just on 85. But the two Akmal brothers played their role to save the test. After the ton of younger brother Kamran lost its mind on tried to go after the NZ Skipper but he lost his wicket. Young Akmal hit the ball all around the ground and scored a respected debut ton. The brothers saved the best for Bond, though. After Kamran hit him for three boundaries in two overs, Umar gave him the real treatment in the next. Three short deliveries, three pulls, left of mid-on, right of mid-on, and through midwicket, and the partnership had crossed 100. Umar had reached 72 off 91 then, and Kamran 47 off 81.

Narrative of the brilliant 110 plus world-record partnership between two Pakistani tail-enders from the perspective of a 23 year old, cricket crazy fan.

It was a usual, mild November evening. I had gone to my maternal aunt’s house for a dinner with my mother. Me and a couple of my cousins were eagerly watching the final between Pakistan and New Zealand. Confident that Pakistan will easily chase the 212 target, we set about discussing who will be the man-of-the-match, how much will Boom Boom Afridi score, and bla bla bla. Less did we know, our cricket team had a terrible surprise up its sleeve. One after another, like a pack of cards or a like a falling Domino puzzle, our batsmen started losing their wickets by playing totally wild and rash strokes.

It seemed as if they wanted to score stylishly rather than winning the match. It was totally unprecedented to witness world-class batsmen playing like a gang of 13 year-olds out to impress their friends. Suddenly, the small score of 212 on a good batting track was not looking that small and achievable anymore. After being 86-8, I thought Pakistan is going to lose it by a huge margin. Sensing a defeat, we decided to answer my aunt’s call for dinner. We didn’t even talk about the match during the dinner as we were totally disgusted. Moreover, we didn’t want to spoil the taste of the deliciously cooked food that we were having. Finishing our dinner, we went back to our cousin’s room and switched on TV only to find Umer gul get out on the next ball. At this stage, we were sure it would be Pakistan’s lowest total against the Kiwis. Again, we shouldn’t have been so sure about our cricket team. The Pakistani cricketers once again proved why they are termed as the most unpredictable team in the history of World cricket.

As Saeed Ajmal joined Mohammed Amir for the 10th wicket, I turned to my cousin and said, “Ajaml doesn’t know how to play. He doesn’t even know how to hold a cricket bat properly.”

The Ajmal and Amir duo started very gingerly, and I was expecting a wicket to fall anytime soon; But, suddenly on the third ball of Daniel Vettori’s over Amir struck a beautiful sweeping six on the leg side. The next ball, it was another six in the same direction.A ball later, it was another six. Three flat sixes in an over! Daniel Vettori was gutted. We were ecstatic. The crowd that was leaving in droves suddenly stopped and came back to cheer the 17 year-old left armer, who was now standing up to the Kiwis.

Suddenly, a new life was breathed into the stadium. People starting applauding, chanting “Jeetay ga bhai jeetay ga, Pakistan jeetay ga”. The stadium wasn’t that quiet anymore. Amir struck a couple of fours, almost knocking out Saeed Ajmal in the process, and the game was taking a twist. Me and my cousins were not lying on the bed anymore. We were sitting up, closer to the TV, our fist clenched into our hands, and going back and forth like a pendulum, in utter anticipation of some more big shots. And they came. Some were intentionally struck, while some were totally because of sheer luck. Either way, they were all adding to the total.

The required rate suddenly started to come down slightly, the runs required to win were dropping from 100 to 90 to 70 and now to 60. We were looking at each other in amazement as how these players can play like that. At this point, our biggest fear was of Saeed Ajmal getting out as he is not renowned for his batting; But, somehow he started playing some great wristy strokes for ones and twos that would even challenge Sachin Tendulkar for pure wrist twisting. Amir and ajmal’s partenrship was growing rapidly, breaking many personal, team, and world records in the process. Amir’s fifty was up, and he was still going strong. These tail-enders were reading the line and length of the bowlers much better than the reputed batsmen of our team. We started hoping that there might be a win here. As the required runs to win dropped into single digits, the duo started to get a bit shaky. That was bound to happen as they are not used to “batting” in such pressure. As the last over started with 8 runs to win, the whole nation was hoping for a miracle victory here. The crowd at the Abu Dhabi stadium was now up on their feet.

The first ball from Jacom Oram was a really short one, an Achilles heel of the whole Pakistani team. Ajmal tried pulling the short ball, top-edging it, and was caught out by Kyle Mills in the deep. The kiwis had one. Pakistan had lost. But this defeat was acceptable. The crowd started clapping as soon as Ajmal got out. Appreciating the fighting spirit of the two bowlers who gave the Kiwis a run for their money. Me and my cousins were ecstatic that our team escaped the rather imminent 140 run defeat and almost gave Daniel Vettori a heart-attack in the process.

As I left my aunt’s house, I had a big smile on my face even though our team lost. That smile was courtesy of the fighting spirit showed by the duo of Amir and Ajmal..!!

The main objective of the organization is to create opportunities and expand cricket for the physically disabled.

We have organized our 1st national event in 2008 successfully and now organizing 2nd National event for 2009 in all over the Pakistan. We are now also moving towards the international events

PCAPH organized a friendly match on the Eve of the 62nd Independence Day of Pakistan, which was wholeheartedly supported by MOL Pakistan. Nokia Simons, National Aids Control Programme (NACP), Progressive Movers, Coca-Cola, Saha International, Aircom, and Darul Salam as the valuable Sponsors.

The Twenty 20 cricket match was played between the teams of Physically Handicapped and TV / Media Icons of Pakistan on 14th August, 2009 at 5:00 PM at Margalla Cricket Ground, G-9 Markaz Islamabad.

The audience and the guest speakers on the occasion appreciated the role of PCAPH in organising such healthy activities which will not only create awareness amongst the general public for special people but also bring a good name for PCAPH.

At the end of the day and night match, a closing ceremony was held and hosted by Mr. Abbas Hashmi Chairman Pakistan Cricket Association for Physically Handicapped (PCAPH). He paid thanks to all distinguished guests and media partners for organizing such an event successfully for helping PCAPH in the noble cause for promoting physically handicapped cricket in Pakistan. Awards/ medals and souvenirs were also presented to the teams and other participants.

Kolkata, Feb 15 (IANS) The Mumbai terror attacks have not only soured Indo-Pak ties, but they have also affected sporting exchanges between the physically challenged cricketers from the two neighbouring nations.

The national team selected by the All India Cricket Association for the Disabled (AICAD) was scheduled to tour Pakistan in February to play a cricket series with Pakistan Cricket Association for the Physically handicapped (PCAPH) , but the tour got cancelled after the freezing of relations between the two countries as a fall-out of the Mumbai mayhem.

“A Pakistan Cricket Association For The Physically Handicapped team was also supposed to come to India on a reciprocal tour thereafter. But in this situation, that will also have to wait,” AICAD president and former Indian cricket captain Ajit Wadekar told In media.

Little words can express the happiness with which I celebrate the fact that Pakistan are the World Champions of the Twenty20 world cup. To have defeated Sri Lanka with a comfortable margin of eight wickets and many balls to spare. Pakistan erupted with a roar of celebrations heard not only in Pakistan but practically every corner of the world where Pakistanis were watching this match.

This victory in my opinion was not only a sporting victory but a godsend for a nation which has been bogged down for months of uncertainty and choas, if anything, the 11 players won it to revive the ailing heartbeat of an entire Pakistani nation, for which we shall be forever grateful.

A lot can be said about this captivating moment but what will be cherished is to have watched the smiles return back onto the faces of our people. Following the match I too headed onto to the streets of Karachi to celebrate and it was festive watching ecstatic carefree people dancing on the streets and chanting to Pakistani songs unified under the green and white flag, a sight to cherish with the hope that this patriotism could be harnessed forever.

On our digital sphere the e-rally was a tremendous success and we happily watched the twitter hashtag #PakCricket touching the 5th trending topic, meaning that it was the 5th most talked about subject anywhere across the millions of users on twitter.com. Shout out to each and every Pakistani who was a part of this digital rally and left a positive mark for Pakistan

Lets savor this moment, lets keep the terrorists away and move forward. Id now love to welcome the team home but I dread an untoward incident in the making, so maybe a short word of advise to te PCB Chairman Mr. Ejaz Butt, please avoid a grand public reception for the victorious team and maybe instead organize a grand reception televised across Pakistan so that everyone can celebrate along.

It is after some time the happiest day in my life. Please lets keep it this way for sometime. Congrats to all Pakistanis
