SACHIN TENDULKAR'S FAREWELL SPEECH

Sachin Tendulkar retired from international cricket after playing his 200th and final Test. India went on to win the second and final Test against the West Indies in Mumbai by innings and 126 runs to win the series 2-0 and presented Tendulkar with a perfect parting gift. We won’t generate the kind of crowd again here for a Test match that we witnessed today. An immortal cricketer who retained his humanity throughout. Sachin Tendulkar gave an emotional speech after the match ended that had everyone in tears at the Wankhede Stadium.

“Friends please settle down, I’ll get more emotional. It’s hard to believe my wonderful journey is coming to an end, my life between 22 yards for 24 years has come to an end. I’ve a list of names to thank. The first is my father, who passed away in 1999. Without his guidance I wouldn’t be standing in front of you. He said ‘chase your dreams, don’t give up, the path will be difficult.’ I miss him today. My mom, I don’t know how she managed a naughty child like me. She just prayed and prayed from the day I started playing the game. For four years I stayed with my uncle and aunt when in school, they treated me like their own son. My eldest brother Nitin doesn’t like to talk much but he said, whatever you do, I know you will give 100%. My first cricket bat was presented to me by my sister Savita. She still continues to fast while I bat. Ajit my brother – we have lived this dream together, he sacrificed his career for me — he took me to Achrekar sir first. Even last night he called me to discuss my dismissal. Even when I’m not playing we will still be discussing technique. If that hadn’t happened, I would have been a lesser cricketer.

SACHIN TENDULKAR IN HIS 200TH TEST MATCH

At the Wankhede there are huge queues outside the ground and every single gate because it is the final Test of god of cricket Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar man-in-focus. Sachin Tendulkar's mother, who is watching him play for India for the first time.

India have won the toss and will bowl first. Bhuvneshwar Kumar shared the attack with Mohammed Shami. West Indies were playing quite sensibly till 5th over. In the next over Mohammed Shami bowed a back of a length delivery, and Gayle poked at it takes a knock and the ball gown to the gully where Rohit picks up the catch. At lunch West Indies were looking good scoring 93/2 wickets in the first session. All set for the second session and it was the dream session for India. India had bowled out the West Indies Team on 182 runs in just one and an a half session. Pragyan ohja took 5 for 40 and R Ashwin supporting his partner taking 3 for 45.

The India openers are doing their stretches out on the pitch, everybody looked surprised to see Darren Sammy has the new ball in hand. The Indian opener again giving a good opening start to the team and scored 77 runs until the Shikhar Dhawan was looking to sweep the ball and lost his wicket and suddenly after 2 balls Murali Vijay also lost his wicket and there was a cauldron of noise because now the fans would get a chance to see their Little Master Sachin Tendulkar on the ground. Sachin didn't upset their fans and score an unbeaten 38 at the end of the first day of the Test and took India's total to 157/2 at the end of the day.

The second day of the Test will be crucial as everyone wants to see Sachin scoring a 100 in his 200th Test match. So fingers crossed lets see will Sachin will make his last Test rememberable for his fans.

DRS - PROBLEM OR SOLUTION

DRS is Umpire Decision Review System. It is a technology which is used in modern day cricket. In this if the batsman is given out by the on-field umpire he can review the decision to the third umpire to check whether the he was out or not. It was first launched in Test cricket by ICC (International Cricket Council) on 24 November 2009. Later it was used in an ODI in January 2011. At the outset it was mandatory in all international matches but later it was no longer required. To the mutual understanding of both teams only then DRS has come into use.

The BCCI (Board Of Control For Cricket In India) and likes of Sachin Tendulkar, M.S Dhoni are against the use of DRS in Cricket. Sachin stated few lines on DRS that he wasn't against the DRS but he feels it will be more effective with hotspot and snickometer technology. It will make you more consistent results. M.S. Dhoni stated on DRS that adulteration of something is quite bad whether it is natural or technology.

India Vs West Indies 2013 Test series. In the first Test when Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed LBW by Shillingford who flighted the Doosra, Tendulkar tried to defend from his crease and the ball hit the back leg quite high. The impact was too high, the ball would have gone over the top, but umpire Nigel Llong did not think so he gave Tendulkar out. If DRS is used here Sachin wouldn't be given out.

SHIKHAR DHAWAN- A HANDY OPENER

Shikhar Dhawan a solid left-handed opening batsman. He made his ODI debut against Australia and Test debut also against Australia. He set up a new record in his Test debut which was the fastest century by a debutante. He is one of the attractive stroke player from Delhi.

Domestic cricketers who played with him say he is very confident and his flamboyant personality with his ever-changing looks like his fancy mustache. Dhawan has always demonstrated his talent since 2003 where he was the player of the tournament in under 19 World cup but he did not overlook by the selectors for reasons best known to them, but his attitude of a self-belief and vision of an achiever made his dream come true almost after 9 years playing the domestic cricket.

Only the time has changed for him when India's both openers lost their form dramatically, giving him a chance and then he grabbed the chance with arguably smashing 187 to set up India's win in a Test He is the first Indian to score 150+ runs on a debut Test Match. And soon afterwards Shikhar Dhawan became almost an overnight hero and later on he was picked by the selectors soon after for the champions Trophy in England. He persisted in his sizzling form into the tournament also giving India a chance to win their first ever champions trophy.

Today we see Cheteshwar Pujara, Virat Kholi because Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman retired. And now we see Shikhar Dhawan because Virender Sehwag was finally dropped. It's just the young players needs enough time and an equal number of chances. This young boy has waited enough and now it's time to welcome him.

Shikhar Dhawan started his IPL career with his home team Delhi Daredevils and was traded to Mumbai Indians next year. He played two seasons of IPL for the Mumbai Indians. After that Deccan Chargers bought him. He didn't get much appreciation for his performance playing for Delhi and Mumbai. But playing for Deccan charger(Sunrisers Hyderabad) had given his career a real boost.

YUVRAJ SINGH - MATCH FINISHER

Yuvraj Singh is a left-handed middle order batsman and a part-time left arm spinner too who is best known as the match finisher in an ODI. His father was also one of the former Indian fast bowler Yograj Singh. He made his ODI debut in 2000 against Kenya on the basis of his under 19 World Cup performance, but his Test debut came in 2003 against New Zealand. If he is good form he can be very brutal in the limited overs cricket. But he always struggles to cement his place in Test cricket.

His batting, his athleticism on the field and his canny left-arm spin made him an overall package for the ODI and Twenty-20 formats. In World Twenty20 triumph in 2007 where he was famished for hitting six sixes in an over against Stuart Broad. He was presented with a “Porsche 911” car for his 6sixes achievement by the vice president of BCCI. Then in the late 2007 he was the vice-captain of the Indian Team. His ODI career is full of highlight reels, one of his unforgetable innings was a partnership with Mohammad Kaif in the NatWest Series final against England in July 2002 which led India to victory but the biggest impact being his contribution to India's World Cup triumph in 2011 - 362 runs, 15 wickets, and four Man-of-the-Match awards, and the Player of the Tournament.

Win the World Cup in 2011 was the biggest moment of his cricket career, but soon after that came the biggest challenge of his life, when he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer which required a two-and-a-half month treatment in the USA. He returned home after completing his chemotherapy in April 2012, fairly confident that he could take up his duties in the cricket field reasonably quickly and in August he was named in India's squad for the World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka.

Hitting 6 sixes in 6 balls made him the most favorite player in the IPL. Rohit Sharma is one of India's most promising talents over the next couple of years. He is a right-handed batsman, He first came to limelight when he played CB Series in Australia in early 2008, scoring two fifties, including a vital 66 in the first final in Sydney.

His ability to look right at the crease but didn't translate into long innings and his lack of consistency didn't allow him to be a part of India's World Cup-winning squad.

He made his ODI debut against Ireland in 2007 and still struggling to get in the Test team. He was selected for the Test team but he hurt himself playing football during the warm-up. Rohit Sharma made an impact with his batting in the first three seasons of IPL for Deccan Chargers. After that he was bought by Mumbai Indians in 2011. His last ball winning six and his hat trick was still remembered by the public. The turning point of his career in the IPL came when in 2013 Ricky Ponting who was leading the Mumbai Indians was stepping out from the team due to his poor performance with the bat. Rohit Sharma was named as captain for the rest of the matches to be played. The captaincy has changed him completely even his batting was improved. The ability of staying calm in a crunch situation helped him to flourish as a captain. And he was the man who led the Mumbai Indians to their maiden IPL title in 2013. If you think it's a miracle then you are wrong its not. He was also led Mumbai Indians to their first ever Champions League Trophy T-20 in the same year.

GAUTAM GAMBHIR- BEST PLAYER OF SPIN IN INDIA

GAUTAM GAMBHIR a gutsy left-handed opening batsman with his blazing batting style who is aggressive in his approach and a feisty fielder too. His nickname is “Gauti”. He made his ODI debut against Bangladesh in 2003 and Test debut against Australia in 2004. He was consistent in his performance between 2008 to 2011. But you know what when he was dropped from the World Cup 2007 squad he said he didn’t want to play anymore but he stuck with cricket and made a comeback in the Indian team.

Having a batting average of 40 plus in ODI and 50 plus in Test is just outstanding. Gambhir proved his batting skills on many big occasions like he did in Twenty-20 World cup final in 2007, by scoring 75 runs and scored 97 runs in the World Cup final 2011. His opening partner Virender Sehwag proclaimed him as the best opener after Sunil Gavaskar.

He is the only Indian player to have scored five consecutive hundred in five consecutive Test matches. He is the only Indian player to have scored 300 plus runs in 4 consecutive Test series.

For his impressive performance in the year 2007 Gautam Gambhir was signed by his home team Delhi Daredevils to play for Delhi in the Indian Premier League (IPL) in 2008. After the World Cup 2011, Gambhir's failures went unpunished. In England and Australia, where India lost eight continuous Tests, Gambhir was finding himself to score runs and getting out while poking at deliveries outside off. RAVICHANDRAN ASHWIN is a right-arm off-break bowler and very handy lower order batsman. He made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2010. He is always willing to flight the ball unlike other spinners don’t.

RAVINDRA JADEJA is currently known as Sir Ravindra Jadeja. He is a left-handed lower order batsman and a useful part-time spinner. Jadeja made his ODI debut against Sri Lanka in 2009 and scored an unbeaten half-century. His Test debut however came in 2012 against England in Nagpur. His performance in ICC Champions Trophy where he emerged as the highest wicket taker with 12 wickets and also won the golden ball.

Why people called him as Sir Ravindra Jadeja?

His disastrous performance series by series in 2009. He has been a consistent target by Indian fans on social networking sites referred as Sir Ravindra Jadeja jokes and this went viral. When he performed well in the Test series against Australia in 2013 there were Jadeja’s jokes everywhere comparing him Rajinikanth the superstar of South film Industry.

He looked like an effective bowler, but we Fans were left shocked when he became the number one bowler in ICC ODI rankings ahead of Sunil Narine and James Anderson. SURESH RAINA is a left-handed middle-order batsman and occasionally used as an off-spinner. He is also an electrifying fielder in the ground. Zaheer khan a left-arm fast bowler known for his reverse swing. He made his ODI debut against Kenya and TEST debut against Bangladesh in the same year 2000. RAHUL DRAVID - THE WALL

Rahul Dravid born on 11^th January 1973 is a former Indian team captain in both ODI and test. He was also named as THE WALL .His test debut was more successful rather than his ODI debut. Later on he accomplished himself more in test cricket rather than in ODI and his contribution in test cricket is much more than in an ODI.

After 2000 he became the most dependable batsman of Indian team. He gets to his remark against Australia where the Indian about to miss the match after put into follow on he made 180 runs and hold the partnership of 376 with his teammate V.V.S Laxman who made 281 runs in that match.

VIRENDER SEHWAG AN UNCONVENTIONAL BATSMAN

VIRENDER SEHWAG is an aggressive right-handed opening batsman for India. He made only 1 run in his ODI debut against Pakistan in 1999 and scored 105 runs in his Test debut against South Africa in 2001. He is the only Indian cricketer to be honoured as the Wisden leading Cricketer in the world, and the first one to retain that award in the next year as well.

SOURAV GANGULY THE MOST SUCCESSFUL CAPTAIN

Sourav Ganguly was born on 8th July 1972 in Calcutta. He had a luxurious childhood because his father was one the richest man in the city. He had started his One Day International (ODI) debut for India against the West Indies in 1992 scoring just 3 runs. He was dropped from the Team immediately. Later on he made his Test debut against England at Lord’s where he scored a century in his debut match. He scored his first ODI century against Sri Lanka in 1997.

In 2000, he was named as the captain of the Indian Cricket Team. His career as a captain started really well he won an ODI series against South Africa and took Indian Team to the final of ICC knockout trophy in 2000.

During the final match of the 2002 NatWest trophy at Lords after winning the final, Ganguly took off his shirt in public to celebrate India's wins. At 2003, India reached the World cup final for the first time since 1983, where they lost to the Australians. Ganguly had a successful tournament .

In 2004 he had achieved significant success as captain and was deemed as India's most successful cricket captain.

INDIA WINNING THE WORLD CUP AGAIN IN 2011

On 2^ND April 2011 the day when India regained the coveted the World Cup 2011 after 28 years as they surpassed Sri Lanka with a six wicket victory in the final in Mumbai. The clamorous jam-packed crowd at Wankhede Stadium erupted in wild celebration when Dhoni finished it off in style by hitting the winning six to give India biggest cricketing moment and crown themselves as the ODI World Champions.

FINAL INDIA VS SRI LANKA

Sri Lanka wins the toss electing to bat first, Mahela Jayawardene used his vast experience and batted throughout the innings to give Sri Lankans a defending total of 274.

The Indian innings began on a disastrous note as the devastating opener batsman Virender Sehwag was dismissed LBW in the very second ball of the innings by pacer Lasith Malinga. After that Malinga struck again by dismissing the Sachin Tendulkar and there was utter silence in the crowd.

But the contribution of Gautam Gambhir, Virat Kholi, and the captain himself M.S Dhoni managed India to win the title. It was a proud moment for every Indian and the more for Sachin Tendulkar because it was the only trophy missing from his collections in his long 20 year career.

INDIA FIRST TWENTY-20 CHAMPIONS IN 2007

The inaugural World Twenty20 tournament which had been devised by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in 2007 in South Africa. India had won the inaugural Twenty20 World Cup under the captaincy of M.S Dhoni.

In Durban, India and Pakistan played out a tie, and were involved in the first ever international bowl out, which is the equivalent of a soccer penalty shooting out, which India won 3-0.

Winning the toss and deciding to bat, India scrapped their way to a 157-7 on a pitch where 180 was possible. The final match went into the last over Pakistan needing 13 runs to win in the final over, with only 1 wicket remaining. Joginder Sharma bowled the last over he hit a six by Misbah then Pakistan needed just 6 runs to win from the last 4 balls. Misbah attempted to hit the next ball with over fine leg,but he only managed the ball to go within 30 yards from the pitch,and it was caught at short-fine leg by Sreesanth, leaving Pakistan all out for 152 runs.

The Indian Team played so well throughout the World Cup, and finally they made the World Cup which they deserved. The highlight of this World Cup is that Yuvraj Singh, had hit six sixes in an over, which Stuart Broad had bowled.

INDIA WORLD CHAMPION IN 1983

The 25^th June 1983 is the biggest day for India in the history of Cricket. India had won the world championship under the captaincy of Kapil Dev by defeating the two consecutive time champion team West Indies. The 1983 World cup was held by England and the world cup final match was played on Load’s in England.

The Indian team had won 4 matches out of 6 matches they played. Due to their victories Indian managed to get a place in the semi-finals. The 1st semi-final was played between India vs England where Eng made 213 runs batting first. The Indian team easily won the match by 4 wickets to spare.

FINAL INDIA VS WEST INDIES

Then the Indian team met West Indies in the final the favorite team of the World Cup. Where the Indian team lost the toss and put into bat. They were somehow managed to get a decent total in the final 183 all out.

On seeing the West Indies batting line-up the score did not look decent but the great bowling done by the Indian bowler. Mohinder Amarnath who was awarded the man of the match for his all round performance he made 26 runs in the batting and took 3 wickets by giving just 12 runs in his 7 sever over.

The first cricket club in India was established in Calcutta in 1792, India's national cricket team did not play its first Test match until 25 June 1932 at Lord's.

India proved weaker than Australia and England, winning only 35 of more than 200 Test matches they played. The team, however, gained potency at the end of the 1970s with the emergence of players such as Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev and the Indian spinner Erapalli Prasanna and Srinivas Venkataraghavan (both off spinners), Bhagwat Chandrasekhar (a leg spinner), and Bishen Singh Bedi (a left-arm spinner).

In the 1980s, India developed a more attacking batting line-up with hard-hitting batsman such as the Mohammed Azharuddin, Dilip Vengsarkar and all-rounder Ravi Shastri. With the assistance of these players India won the Cricket World Cup in 1983, defeating the favorites and two-time defending champions West Indies in the final, owing to a strong bowling performance.

In spite of this, the team did poorly in the Test arena, including 28 succession Test matches without a victory. In 1984 aside from gaining ground in India. India remained a weak team outside the Indian subcontinent.

If you look at the current Indian cricket team many of them like M.S Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar etc. The reason why many of them are from small towns and cities is that they took cricket as a passion and live for the cricket only while in metro cities they took it as a sport and play for the enjoyment.

Lack of Infrastructure

There are so many talented players in small towns for them cricket remains their only route to escape from the battle. The lack of exposure, funds, facilities in their own town hurts them. The small town cricketer is not getting ample opportunity to demonstrate their talent like other big cities cricketers.

In the recent times Cricket has become really popular game among the people in India.Cricket is not the national sports of India yet all Indians feels like it is merely equal to national sport.

How can you say like that?

The turning point came in 2007; when Indian team was consider as a dark-horse but the victory of the Twenty-20 World Cup an unknown format within India and from there onwards, the recent win in the 2011 World Cup has ensured that cricket will continue to be India's national game.

WE ARE CHAMPIONS

After the formation of Indian Premier League in 2008 was initiated by Lalit modi and the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). it has been an enormous success.

In current scenario it has become a shorter way of earning money for all who are somewhere related to it. I want to share an incidence with you all last week before i went to an academy where i saw a father introducing his talented son to the coach and asking him to give placement to his son in any of the ipl teams rather than domestic teams or even in Indian team. He also told him i will pay you whatever it takes. This shows the mentality of the people and on seeing this i felt really bad.
