Cricket is a game of bat and ball. Both of them are equally important. Everybody will remember them game as long as cricket lives. Terms like fast bowl, medium fast bowl, leg spin bowl, off spin bowl, bounce bowl, etc. are the outcomes of the cricket ball.
The bowling is a skill, and to craft the skill bowlers need to learn the construction of the ball very well. They have to become the master of controlling the ball. They need to learn how to grip the ball and how to control the seam.

The World Cup has travelled places in 15 countries so far. The first three and the 2007 World Cup were four occasions when a single country hosted the event but the rest have been co-hosted with two or more countries getting together to organise the tournament. In this article, I will present the illustrious history of the Cricket World Cup.
# 1975 in England: The first ever tournament was played in England with 8 teams participating in the tournament namely Australia, England, India, New Zealand, Pakistan, West Indies, Sri Lanka and East Africa. The tournament had 15 games in total with West Indies beating Australia in the finals at the historic Lords to become the inaugural World Champions.
# 1979 in England: in the second edition The East Africa was replaced by Canada. Billed as favourites to win the tournament, West Indies once again matched expectations to lift their second successive World Cup under Clive Lloyd.
# 1983 in England: Zimbabwe made their maiden array in this tournament and though the number of teams still remained 8, the matches increased from 15 to 27. West Indies were outright favourites to win the trophy for a third successive time but underdogs India upset them in the finals to become the second nation to win the World Cup.
#The World Cup of 1987 was played in India and Pakistan co-hosting the event. The game was also shortened from 60 to 50 overs but the format remained the same as that of the 1983 World Cup. The final still remains the closest to date as Allan Border's Australia trounced England by 7 runs to lift their first ever World Cup title.
#In this edition that was played in Australia and New Zealand in 1992, There were several changes such as the introduction of white balls and black sight screens. This was also the first cup where the game would be played out under floodlights.the name of the game at the 1992 World Cup as cricket changed from its traditional white flannels to coloured clothing. The tournament would also see its fair share of controversies as long returnee South Africa was knocked out of the semi-finals after rain rules left them requiring 21 of just 1 delivery. Pakistan under Imran Khan beat England in the finals thus becoming the second Asian country to lift the trophy.
#The 1996 World Cup organized in India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka once again found its way into the Indian sub continent with the teams significantly increasing from 9 to 12. Sri Lanka went on to win the tournament and in the process also became the first host country to have achieved the feat of a winning a World Cup.
#The 1999 World Cup was primarily hosted in England but Wales, Ireland, Netherlands and Scotland also organised a few games. This tourney is however remembered for the semi-final game between Australia and South Africa where needing 1 run to win, a horrible mixup between last wicket pair Klusener and Donald resulted in the latter being run out and the game being tied. Australia would qualify for the final by virtue of a superior net run rate and eventually be crowned World Champions.
#in The 2003 World Cup that organized in South Africa, Kenya and Zimbabwe, The teams participating in the tournament increased to 14 but the format was the same as that of the 1999 edition. The tournament started controversially with star leg spinner Shane Warne being sent back after being tested positive for drug usage and it was also one full of upsets as South Africa, Pakistan, West Indies and England failed to make it past the first round while underdogs Kenya went on to make it to the semi-finals. However in this tournament, Australia was a cut above the rest as they proceeded to lift the cup without being beaten even once in the tournament.

#This 2007 tournament organized in West Indies was severely criticised for its longevity as it had 51 games, the longest to be played at World Cups. The fact that two of the most followed teams, India and Pakistan were knocked out in the group stages also didn't help matters. 16 teams participated in the tournament and just like Super Sixes, the Super Eight concept would involve which would be followed by the semi-final and final. Australia once again remained unbeaten throughout the tournament as they went on to pick up their third successive crown.

#The 2011 World Cup organized in Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka was originally planned to be co-hosted by the four Asian giants, the political turmoil in Pakistan forced ICC to remove the nation from the list. The tournament with 14 participants proved to be a grand success with India under MS Dhoni going on to lift their second World Cup after 28 long years.

The History of Cricket in Sri Lanka was begins with British colonization of the country. The first cricket match in the country was played in 1832. First class match here was played in 1905. First international cricket was played in 1926-27 but officially it entered the international cricket in 1975. The Sri Lanka National cricket team entered test cricket in 1982 and Domestic first class cricket began in 1988.
The history of cricket begins in Sri Lanka when it was known as Ceylon and was a British Colony. Ceylon came under the control of British East India Company in 1796 after defeating France and in 1802 it became a crowned colony. Wherever Britishers arrived cricket followed and it's assumed that the first cricket match was played in 1800 on this Island although the first recorded match was played in year 1832.
While The first Domestic cricket competition was played in this country in 1938 where 12 teams competed for daily news trophy. In 1988-89 it was designated as first class cricket. In 1988-89 the first limited over cricket tournament was held over here in which only four teams participated.
Cricket kept increasing its popularity throughout the 20th century in the country and it became much popular with teams victory in the ICC trophy in 1979. On 21 July 1981 the country was given full membership of ICC and was awarded with status of test playing team. The inaugural test was played in Colombo in February 1982 but England won the match.
The National team of Sri Lanka won the Asia cup in years 1986, 1997, 2004 and 2008. The team's first major victory in International cricket was in Cricket World cup of 1996 beating the top ranked team Australia. In 2003 World Cup the National team remained a semi finalist. In 2007 World cup it could be among runner ups only. In 2009 T-20 world cup against it was among runner ups but in 2010 ICC T-20 world cup it reached to the finals.

Of course every nation has its own cricketing legends that they believe were better than those of other teams.in This article,I will introduce you to 9 of the world's great cricketers from past and present.
Imran Khan was a great Pakistani cricketer who played at the highest level for over twenty years from his debut in 1971. He was a great all rounder who led the Pakistan team to their first world cup just before he retired. he was one of the best all-rounders that the game has ever had. He played in 88 tests with a batting average of 37.69. He took 362 wickets with an excellent bowling average of 22.81.

Shane Warne is an Australian spin bowler who is one of the greatest spin bowler . He was born in 1969 in Victoria and has played test cricket since 1990. He has taken more test wickets than any other player in history. He was also the first player to take more than 600 test wickets. He played in 140 tests and has taken 685 wickets with a bowling average of 25.25,he was retiring in 2007.

Gary Sobers was a highly talented cricketer from Barbados,he was born in 1936. He played 93 tests for the West Indies and scored an impressive 8032 runs. He had a batting average of 57.78. He was also a very good slow left arm bowler, taking 235 test wickets, with an average of 34.03. He is best known for being the first batsman ever to score six sixes in one over in 1968 in a first class cricket match while playing for Notts against Glamorgan.

Ian Botham was a great English all-rounder. He was the scourge of bowlers with his prodigious batting ability and he was just as adept as a fast medium paced bowler. He was born in Cheshire in 1955 and played mainly for Somerset. He was very much a true all rounder as he was as good at bowling as batting. He played in 102 test matches and scored 5200 runs, with an average of 33.34 and he took 383 wickets with an average of 28.40.

WG Grace is the most influential cricketer. He was born in 1848 at a time when cricket was not the massive sport that it is today. He is one of the reasons, that cricket became so popular, with his great batting ability. When he was out first ball at a match once, he refused to go telling the umpire that, "the crowd are here to watch me bat and not to watch you umpire!". There were not many test matches then so he played only 22 and scored 1098 runs with an average of 32.29. He took 9 wickets with an average of 26.22.

Allan Border was Australian captain.was born in 1955 in Sydney . He still has the world record for the greatest number of uninterrupted test matches. He also had the record, at the time, for the most runs in test matches at 11174 in 156 tests. He was also one of the most prolific hitters of centuries with 27 in test matches. He also took 39 wickets with an average of 39.10.

Shaun Pollock is a South African medium fast bowler who is well known for his accuracy and reliability. He is also a very good batsman who has scored over 3406 runs in 100 test matches with an average of 31.24. He has taken 395 wickets at an average of 23.25. He is South Africa's most prodigious wicket taker in both one day international and test matches.

Viv Richards is one of the all time greats of West Indian cricket. He was a very successful captain to one of the best West Indian sides ever. He was a powerful batsman and scored an average of 50.23, scoring 8450 runs in 121 matches. He only lost 8 matches in the 50 that he captained.

Don Bradman was the best Australian and the best batsman of all time.He was born in 1908 in New South Wales. His batting skill was so good that the England cricket team in the 1928-1929 tests resorted to bowling at the batsmen rather than the wickets in order to try to win. This was known as the bodyline series. He played in 52 tests and scored 6996 runs so he had an incredible average of 99.94. These statistics make him the best batsman ever.
