Pakistan announce squad for Bangladesh tour

Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the squad for all three formats ahead of the series against Bangladesh.

Doosra specialist Saaed Ajmal and all rounder Mohammad Hafeez have made comebacks in all formats despite concerns over their bowling actions. Ajmal had his bowling action cleared before the world cup but has not taken part in a competitive game since, while Hafeez is set to undergo the action test this month.

A bunch of youngsters have also made into the team including Sami Aslam, Babar Azam and Saad Nasim.

Umar Akmal has been dropped from all forms of the game while Ahmed Shehzad has only been included in the T-20 squad.

Australia announce Ashes squad

Australia have announced their squad for the Ashes Tests, which will begin from 8th July.
Pakistan-born leg spinner Fawad Ahmed and veteran batsman Adam Voges have been included.

According to the national selector Rod Marsh, both players had exceptional domestic seasons and were thus included in the 17 member squad.

Peter Nevill has been selected as the back-up wicket keeper ahead of Matthew Wade while Shaun Marsh also makes way into the squad.

However world cup heroes Glenn Maxwell and James Faulkner were unable to force their way into the test team.

Vettori retires from international cricket

Veteran New Zealand player Daniel Vettori has announced his retirement from international cricket.

The decision came after the New Zealand side that lost the world cup final to Australia, landed in Auckland.

Vettori, now 36, was expected to pull the curtain on his international career after the world cup. He thanked Brendon McCullum and Mike Hesson for supporting him in his comeback for the world cup after a long time out with injuries.

Vettori had already announced his retirement from tests in 2014, making his last appearance against Pakistan at Sharjah.

Vettori made his international debut against Sri Lanka in March 1997. He has since gone on to play 113 tests and 295 ODIs (including those for World XI), making him the most capped New Zealand player in both formats.

He is New Zealand's all-time leading wicket taker in ODIs with 305 scalps while second only to Richard Hadlee in tests with 362 wickets. Though primarily a bowling all rounder, Vettori had some unique achievements with the bat as well. He is one of the only three players to have a double of 300 wickets and 4000 runs in tests.

He also captained the national side between 2007 and 2011, leading his side in 82 ODIs and 32 tests.

Official ICC team of the Cricket World Cup announced

International Cricket Council (ICC) announced its official team for the cricket world cup which is dominated by New Zealanders.

The team was selected a group of experts which included the ICC General Manager Geoff Allardice, journalists Andrew Alderson and Chloe Saltau, broadcaster Harsha Bhogle, ICC elite umpire Richard Kettleborough and former England captain Michael Vaughan.

The team was chosen not only based on statistics but with a view to create a balanced side. According to Allardice, some of the notable performers who missed out include Mahmudullah (BAN), Shaiman Anwar (UAE), Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Shami and Ravichandran Ashwin (all IND), Wahab Riaz (PAK) and Imran Tahir (SA).

The team is captained by Brendon McCullum, and the 12 member squad consists of 5 New Zealanders, 3 Australians, 2 South Africans, 1 Sri Lankan and 1 Zimbabwean.

ICC announces new ODI rankings

After the conclusion of the world cup, International Cricket Council has revealed the new One Day International Rankings.

Not surprisingly, Australia are the number one ranked team in the world, followed by India and South Africa.

Amongst the batsmen, AB de Villiers sits at the top while fellow countryman Hashim Amla is ranked 3rd with world cup century machine Kumar Sangakkara separating the two.

Mitchell Starc's ferocious bowling propelled Australia to the title and has earned him the top spot in the bowling rankings. South Africa's Imran Tahir also had a great world cup and is ranked 2nd, while New Zealand's Trent Boult has moved to 6th position after some memorable performances in the global event.
