When you crimp a contact you get a perfect crimp every time and the failure is very low. The problem with soldering is most people do not know how to do it right and they get a cold solder joint. There are 10 colors which designate a number. The BIN codes are read from the wire barrel end of the contact towards the mating end. The first band is wider than the other two to further facilitate identification. Bin-code can also be stamped on the contact.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt; &lt;br /&gt;0 = Black  2 = Red  4 = Yellow  6 = Blue  8 = Gray&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;1 = Brown       3 = Orange      5 = Green       7 = Violet      9 = White  &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For example, a BIN code appearing as Red (wide band closest to the wire barrel), Yellow and Black would designate the BIN code 240.
