If you look for a French gene really hard, a gene that all individuals who speak French have, a genetic cause for speaking French, if scientists look hard enough, they'd probably find something similar to what they find when they look for genetic causes of autism and other mental disorders that are not objectively diagnosable using standard pathophysiological and histopathological medical tests. It seems that way to me anyhow. If my memory serves me, Thomas Szasz first pointed out some sort of logic along those lines.

Of course, speaking French is a social and cultural artifact, it does not purely arise from genes. If a child of French parents were raised without French speaking parents or around French speakers, of course that child will not just naturally start speaking French.

The point is not that mental disorders are a parents fault, but simply that with genetic research, if you look hard enough, there is a decent chance that you will likely find what appears to be order or patterns where they might not actually exist in any way that is actually useful or fruitful to recognize and that money for research might be best spent in other ways.

Diagnosed mental disorders and their supposed effects are used as reasons and justifications for effectively imprisoning adults in psychiatric hospital wards. Psychiatric slavery is wrong and immoral. Psychiatric slavery should be illegal. Civil commitment is a primary force that creates psychiatric slavery. Civil commitment should be outlawed. I understand that psychiatry is the medical specialty with the highest percentage of doctors being atheists. So, if we just die and go into the ground and nothing happens, then why should not all adults have the right to engage in suicide? I'm not stating that suicide is good or moral. Why does events turn out like they do? What has history happened the way it has? It seems that individuals create history collaboratively. Good and bad choices are recorded.
