Kentucky Mission Trip

Reminder to sign the sheet in the foyer if you plan to participate in this year’s mission trip. Choose whether you want to be on a work team or help with VBS. We also need non-perishable items for their food bank and gently used clothing for their store.

Also, in the Welcome Center is a list of needed items for their trip including paper items and suggestions for the non-perishable food items.

1. Grow deeper through teaching that is culturally relevant and doctrinally pure. Mt. 28:19-20.

2. Grow stronger through worship that is authentic and energetic. Jn. 4:24.

3. Grow larger through evangelism via ministry that is focused on people. Lk. 14:23.

4. Grow broader through good works that is local and done in Christ's love. Col. 3:17

5. Grow warmer through fellowship, not only with each other but also with the community around us! Ps. 133:1.

At Cross Pointe, we are pastor led, elder governed and people gifted.

Powerful Points from Sermon

Looking at 2014, Pastor Bill offered some great tips the New Year. This post is based on Pastor Bill's sermon on Dec. 29th 2013.

1. Forgive yourself and others from the past. Forgive yourself. Forgive others. Deal with God. Deal with others. Feel free to move on to a new year. Think of it as a clean slate. God wants to you to be free from your previous mistakes!

1 Jn 1:8-10:

8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

Col. 3:12-17:

12 Put on therefore, as God's elect, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, meekness, longsuffering;

13 forbearing one another, and forgiving each other, if any man have a complaint against any; even as the Lord forgave you, so also do ye:

14 and above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfectness.

15 And let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to the which also ye were called in one body; and be ye thankful.

16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly; in all wisdom teaching and admonishing one another with psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts unto God.

17 And whatsoever ye do, in word or in deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

2. Get rid of your grudges. These are bad for your health: emotionally, physically, spiritual and with your relationships with others.

Rom. 12:17-21:

17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. 18 If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. 19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. 20 On the contrary:

“If your enemy is hungry, feed him;
if he is thirsty, give him something to drink.
In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.”

21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Children's Ministry Needs

Our Children's Church is in need of donation for crafts:
10 2 1/2" Styrofoam balls
10 small paint brushes
Bottles of acrylic paint (green red, yellow, black, pink, nude, green, and white).
6 squares of green craft foam
1 square of white craft foam
10 wooden skewers
20 wiggly eyes
1 bag of flour
thumb tacks, craft scissors, craft glue, magnet tape, 1" nails, and yarn of any color

1.Pass Out Flyers. We will be passing out flyers in the neighborhood to let our neighbors know about this community weekend. The dates and times for canvassing are:

If you are willing to help with this form of advertising or some other form (of advertising) please see Andrea or call her.

2. D.U.C.K. Style lunch. Sunday August 4th, help is needed, see or call Debbie.
We could use some volunteers to bring in corn muffins, biscuits, Miss Kay's Banana pudding (recipe will be provided), fresh strawberries & blueberries.
If you are willing to prepare, set-up, refill food/drinks and/or clean up after, we need help in that area also. Let;s make this D.U.C.K. Community event wonderful! It will be an awesome witnessing tool.

A very special thank you to all our Cross Pointe friends that took the Fun Bus to Wheelersburg for the Speer Family Reunion. We appreciated you being there so much. A big thank you to Shirley Wasem for organizing the details and Mary Lou Marsh for also helping in coordinating this event. We heard there was a lot of fun, cookies, candy, laughs and a few surprises!! You all looked good in your shirts. Thank you again and keep wearing those shirts to support our group and our church. See you at the next outing.
