May 20th we are starting our first summer new members class. We would love for you to prayerfully consider attending the 3 classes that will take place from 4:30-5:30pm on Sunday nights with snacks and refreshments.

The first class, May 20th, will cover the basics of the Gospel. The second class, May 27th, will cover the Church and the third, June 3rd, will cover our vision and mission to love and serve the city of Miami. All of those considering membership will meet with an elder from our church to share briefly how the Gospel is impacting your life.

This is a really exciting time for our elders to hear how the good news is impacting the lives of people in the city and for you to get to know the leaders of Crossbridge. Then at the end of June we will bring you up in front of the church for you to declare your dependence on Christ and your commitment to give generously to the work of the kingdom at Crossbridge Brickell with your life and gifts. This is also a time to declare your willingness to submit to the gracious and loving accountability of our leadership.

Crossbridge is excited to partner with WellSpring Counseling (some of the best licensed counselors in the city) to facilitate some FREE marriage, parenting and singleness workshops. : for the gospel

If you’ve been attending Crossbridge for a while now you’ve probably heard Pastor Felipe say more than once, “the more you apply the gospel in your own life, the more you’ll be propelled into mission”. That’s simply because the gospel isn’t only an invitation to peace, forgiveness, and reconciliation, but also a charge to go out and become the “city on a hill” that will shine the light of the gospel in the places we work and communities in which we live. We need to meditate on the fact that we’ve been forgiven and in turn forgive others, been given peace and become peace makers ourselves, been reconciled and given into the ministry of reconciliation; always praying, “Father, Your will be done in Miami as it is in heaven.”

: for the city

Some of our community groups this last month have served cheerfully alongside projects such as Habitat for Humanity with their annual Blitz Build, Taste of Pinecrest (a family event designed to raise money for the local public schools), and some groups are even getting ready to serve along side Touching Miami with Love and their tutoring program this month. However, there is something that’s been brought to my attention recently, a dirty secret happening beneath the cosmopolitan veneer that has left me unsettled; that is the issue of child/human trafficking. Child trafficking is the recruitment, smuggling, transporting, harboring, buying or selling of a child through force, threats, fraud, deception or coercion for the purposes of exploitation, prostitution, pornography, migrant work, sweat shops, domestic servitude, forced labor, bondage, peonage or involuntary servitude. According to UNICEF this is one of the fastest growing trends in the US and has Miami ranked 3rd in the nation for this lucrative crime. Crossbridge, here’s an opportunity for those who are willing to be challenged and participate in shedding some light on this gross injustice. Come join us on Saturday March 24th from 9-12pm as the Kristi House will be giving a 3 hour training at Crossbridge to raise the awareness on human trafficking and what we can do as individuals and as a community to put a stop to it. : for the nations

One of Crossbridge’s very own, Betsy Coyle, took a trip to Myanmar in South East Asia last month to serve at an orphanage with painting, construction, bible teaching, etc. With this part of the world being over 90% Buddhist, this trip really opened her eyes to the fact that there are people living out the gospel even where there’s very little access to it. This being Betsy’s second trip to Myanmar she says, “The way the local folks are incarnating the gospel has given me a sense of urgency to do the same here in my own city…this trip has in some ways solidified my calling to Miami.”

It’s easy to forget how Jesus said His followers would actually live and what their lifestyle would actually look like.They would, He said, leave behind security, money, convenience, and even family for Him. Let us begin to live with the radical sacrifice that the gospel demands, begin to be peace where there is restlessness, be salt where there is staleness, and light where there is darkness…for the gospel, for the city, and for the nations.
