SchoolVue version 10 is a complete solution that keeps teachers in control of classroom technology at all times. SchoolVue is rich with new and enhanced features that provide educators with the ability to instruct, monitor, and interact with students individually, as a pre-defined group or to the overall class. Many of SchoolVue’s new and enhanced features are unique to classroom management software, and the whole package is known for its ease of use.

“SchoolVue is better than ever and sets a new standard for classroom management software. This is undoubtedly the most impressive product release since the category was first introduced a decade ago,” says Turner Dean, VP Sales of CrossTec Corporation.

“Classroom management software originated as a simple monitoring and show tool for teachers. This latest SchoolVue solution is a comprehensive set of teaching tools for teachers, learning tools for students and support tools for technology managers.”

CrossTec SchoolVue is the first classroom management solution to integrate a unique Tech Console. Dean explains, “A great classroom management solution is not simply about providing the right tools for each teacher. Equally important are tools to ensure all computers in the school can be managed and maintained centrally so they are always available for teaching, and without the added cost of separate software for IT management.”

Also new to version 10 and specifically designed to enhance the student learning experience, is SchoolVue’s Journaling feature. “This is a tool that makes learning easier for the student, and promotes learning comprehension and ease of data retention,” Dean says. “SchoolVue’s new Journaling feature provides a complete record of the information covered during a lesson, including teacher notes, selected screenshots, and websites, survey results, as well as, the student’s own dynamic in-class notes.” Dean goes on to say, “With Journaling, SchoolVue brings invaluable benefit to the students, it’s not just simply a set of management tools for the teachers anymore.”

CrossTec SchoolVue version 10 was showcased at the National Educational Computing Conference June 29 – July 2 in San Antonio, Texas and the NSBA Teaching + Learning Conference, October 28-30 in Seattle, Washington and is immediately available for evaluation and purchase. For a free 30-day evaluation copy please visit http://www.crosstecsoftware.com/tryit.html. Annual maintenance subscribers will automatically receive SchoolVue v10 for no additional cost.

CrossTec Corporation Releases ResQDesk, Help Desk Software

Web Based Help Desk Solution

BOCA RATON, Fla. (May 19, 2006) – CrossTec Corporation announced today the release of CrossTec ResQDesk™ help desk software. CrossTec ResQDesk is a powerful web based service desk solution aimed at minimizing the amount of system downtime while providing effective support for all users of IT assets. With ResQDesk, a help desk can be consolidated into one location while still generating detailed recording and tracking of enterprise-wide support requests. CrossTec ResQDesk fully integrates with the CrossTec asset management tools.

“Our customers have come to us asking for a help desk product that is fully integrated with the CrossTec line of software. ResQDesk is just that. It can operate as a stand-alone module, or in conjunction with CrossTec EMS and CrossTec Remote Control,” says Turner Dean, VP Sales of CrossTec Corporation. He goes on to say, “ResQDesk is a simple and efficient web-based way to track incidents and assets across the corporate network. (January 22, 2008) – CrossTec Corporation announced today the release of the new CrossTec VueAlert™ instant desktop alerting system. CrossTec VueAlert provides a simple means for administrators to reliably deliver alerts and important notifications to staff and pupils. Messages can be sent across an enterprise to both Mac and Windows desktops without the need for network modifications or switch configuration. Hence, CrossTec VueAlert can be installed and operational in a matter of minutes, saving valuable IT administrators time and effort.

“School leaders and business leaders are re-evaluating their emergency plans and procedures, and experts agree that having a quick and coordinated means of communicating is a key element of such plans. Most students are required to turn off their cell phones in class, and many employees also turn off cell phones when working, making a text message solution impractical for every situation.” according to Turner Dean, CrossTec Sales Manager. He goes on to say, “When time matters, CrossTec VueAlert will instantly deliver your message to those who need it.”

CrossTec VueAlert lets an administrator send a clear and concise message to all connected computers. These messages can be prioritized by severity and a reply can be requested. The alert message automatically pops up on the student or employee screen and can also have an accompanying audible alert. The administrator’s system logs date and time of sent messages, thus ensuring that that the messages were received and that no further attempts to notify those individuals is necessary.

CrossTec VueAlert delivers a low-cost, high speed notifications system for organizations looking for a backup for failures, such as e-mail, and a tool for delivering staff alerts and guidance. VueAlert's advantage is the fact that the delivery is 100% internal, there is no reliance on the Internet or outside servers, and delivery is confirmed. A notification, as mundane as “the file server is experiencing difficulties” can be sent out to all.

CrossTec VueAlert will be showcased at the Florida Educational Technology Conference, January 21–25, 2008 in Orlando, Florida; CrossTec Secure simplifies desktop security by protecting the Windows® operating systems and desktops from unwanted or malicious changes. CrossTec Secure prevents users from deleting files and applications, making unauthorized changes to the desktop or operating system, saving or using unauthorized programs, or utilizing USB or CD drives. New to CrossTec Secure is integrated hard disk protection and roll back and recovery technology. When required, the system will restore back to a previous point in time, quickly and transparently. CrossTec Secure protects the operating system and files from accidental or malicious deletion and even provides a means for automatic restoration on re-boot. Clients have told us that they want to lock-down files and protect PC settings without going through lengthy and complicated procedures.”

CrossTec Secure fully integrates with CrossTec SchoolVue® Classroom Management Software. This true cross functionality increases usability, product stability, and saves time and effort for educators. This full integration between CrossTec Secure, SchoolVue and the rest of the CrossTec product line, allows for efficient and economical management of classroom PCs. For instance, educators can easily engage or disengage Secure’s protection features from a SchoolVue desktop.

CrossTec Secure will be showcased at the Florida Educational Technology Conference, January 21–25, 2008 in Orlando, Florida; the Texas Computer Education Association 2008 Convention and Exposition, February 4–8, 2008 in Austin, Texas; and The League for Innovation in the Community College, Innovations Conference, March 2-5, 2008 in Denver, Colorado. Activeworx 4.5 incorporates all of the full log management capabilities for every event that occurs on a network and/or system, in addition to the complete Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tools found in Activeworx 4.0 plus major enhancements for security service providers and enterprise customers with distributed installs. Activeworx 4.5 allows organizations to separate data into distinct, non-comingled data stores, giving security service providers a cost effective way to build a log service with one Activeworx install. Also included in the release is a light version of the powerful Activeworx Audit Logger. The Audit Logger Light module offers high speed log collection for a small number of devices, giving SMB customers or enterprise customers with a few devices falling under a compliance requirement a means to accomplish their logging goals.

"We are very excited to offer Activeworx 4.5 in the marketplace. When we introduced Activeworx 4.0 the market responded with tremendous enthusiasm and our product was met with significant sales and enterprise implementations from the first week the product went gold; Activeworx 4.5 builds on that market share, and incorporates a number of new enhancements that bring log management to security service providers and small to medium business; two market segments that are very important to our continued success. The complete Activeworx version 4.5 product really accomplishes the goal of bringing our integrated SIEM and logging functionality to a broader market," said Jeff Richards, VP of sales for Activeworx. "Our product line now offers enhanced security information management, log management, out-of-the-box regulatory reporting, and data management to enterprises of all sizes and with all budgetary constraints. When we launched Activeworx we said our goal was to work with and grow with our client's needs; Activeworx 4.5 is the continuation of our commitment to that goal."

Other new features found in Activeworx Enterprise 4.5 enable organizations to create immediate on-screen reports based on data found both on the screen and in separate logged files, set parameters for log management and logging capabilities and timing for this organizational necessity, normalize and filter reports based on a non-SQL fashion, integrate multiple databases and information found in them for logged events, and more. Not only does the functionality of Activeworx Enterprise 4.5 enable enhanced demonstrability of data management from a regulatory perspective, but it also helps facilitate a greater and time sensitive understanding of what is happening -- and what is not happening in an organization -- both centrally and from localized perspectives.

For more information on Activeworx Enterprise 4.5 or the CrossTec family of products, please visit us online at www.crosstecsoftware.com.

Akeydor and Sisonke Announce South African and Sub Saharan Partnership to Exclusively Market CrossTec Products

Nov 19, 2007 09:00 ET

ATHENS, GREECE and BOCA RATON, FL--(Marketwire - November 19, 2007) - Akeydor and Sisonke Software Solutions have today announced that they have formed a partnership to bring the CrossTec Activeworx products family to South Africa and to several other markets in the Sub Saharan region.

Activeworx is a Security Information Event (SIEM) and Log Management Software platform enabling Corporations to monitor, capture, visualize, correlate, report and log security events within their network. New Change Management allows change processes to be properly and efficiently controlled. Change requests can be raised against any assets, incidents or problems and users can approve changes through voting. Comprehensive notification and reporting keeps everyone in the loop and because Change Management is an integral component of Richmond SupportDesk, there are no additional licensing requirements. A new Customer Satisfaction Survey feature provides configurable questionnaires that can be sent to individuals or groups of end-users to gather feedback about their support experience. Service Desk managers now have access to essential information about the quality of service being provided. Thanks to feedback from Richmond’s enthusiastic customer base, there are numerous enhancements throughout the product to improve system usability and administration.

Many other brand new features have been added to the v6.5 release, including an Active Directory™ quick setup, a time zone feature to define the time zone where the SupportDesk server or Service Desk is located, resolution codes that allow easy statistical analysis about how incidents are resolved, and sign-on capabilities including "reserved sign-on" that allows licenses to be allocated by named and un-named users.

Eric Wright continues; “Building on the success of previous Richmond SupportDesk releases, version 6.5 demonstrates our commitment to protecting our customer’s investment in SupportDesk by providing enhanced functionality and ideally places Richmond Systems for the continued growth in uptake of ITIL and Best Practice ITSM.”

Richmond Systems is a leading provider of Service Desk and IT Management solutions that enable organizations to deliver fast, effective and high quality service and support. Founded in 1984, Richmond became a leading supplier of remote support solutions and in 1995 introduced Richmond SupportDesk, one of the first Windows™ based help desks. Key benefits of SupportDesk are its ease of use, live reporting and the speed in which it integrates in real time with complementary business applications. In effect this would enable them to monitor the monitoring software.

Indeed CrossTec provides just such a solution by combining the CrossTec Remote Control "Control" module with a SchoolVue installation. If you buy CrossTec Remote Control you can install any of the modules available in Remote Control and SchoolVue. Which means that the Client that runs on all the machines is both a SchoolVue Student and a Remote Control Client, and can accept connections from either Tutor, Control or both.

So a common set up is that there are multiple Tutors out there conducting class, an admin or principle can be running the CRC Control module and be monitoring both the Student machines and the Tutor machines without a problem.

Lab Management in a 1 to 1 Environment

According to one study published in eSchoolNews more than 23 percent of schools with over 4,000 students said they are implementing 1-to-1 computing programs in at least one grade. As wireless one-to-one environments in schools become more popular schools must deal with the many challenges of providing students with laptops.

Schools with a one-to-one environment face several challenges, ranging from students with local administrative rights to wireless network administration with many access points and subnets across a large campus. All of this requires some design planning to successfully run lab management software such as CrossTec SchoolVue.

Resolving computer names to IP addresses over subnets and VLANs complicate the building of class lists in real-time, primarily because it is not possible to get a complete list of all student computers from a network browse. Only those that are turned on and connected to the wireless network at that moment will appear in a typical network browse. Furthermore, many teachers are only trained on the usage of the software once or twice before the first day of class. If they were to try and browse either a Gateway or the network and retrieve a list of one thousand computers named by their serial numbers, there is little chance they will be able to build six different class groups every semester.

CrossTec Technical Product Manager Albert Caballero has written a 15 page guide to setting up SchoolVue for use in a 1 to 1 environment. The paper covers: Reliably and quickly connecting to DHCP Clients over subnets and VLANs; Building Class Lists without Tutor/Client interaction;
Staying connected to Clients even if there is a less than optimal wireless infrastructure.

If you are considering such an environment, or have already established one and your current lab management application doesn't work - you will want to download this white paper - Using SchoolVue over One-to-one Wireless and Multi-subnets.

Video: What's New in SchoolVue v9.0

Seven minute video highlights major new features in new CrossTec Schoolvue v9.0

NEW CrossTec SchoolVue v9.0 features many of the features that users have requested. How can a business quickly adapt to ever changing compliance rules? Does this mean that a corporation has to continually buy new software and hardware in order to comply with these new regulations?

Activeworx Security Center (ASC), CrossTec Corporation’s Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) tool, provides the software solution for these ever growing problems by providing real-time security event analysis, reporting, and correlation. ASC’s robust, built-in reporting engine and multi-vendor support enables administrators to leverage current technologies and is FLEXIBLE enough to support any new technologies as they are implemented. Comprehensive reports for investigative or compliance purposes can be quickly generated with ASC. These rich, graphical reports are CUSTOMIZABLE to meet current and future compliance needs, and detailed enough to provide a picture of the overall security posture of the organization. This is all in one software solution, not an expansive device.

Another question that needs to be addressed is how does an administrator guess what information will be relevant at a later time or which electronic data must be archived for compliance? There’s no need to try to predict the future. With ASC Enterprise (ASCe), CrossTec Corporation is introducing complete Log Management capabilities for every event that occurs on your network and/or systems. Caballero continues to explain that “although SIEM and Log Management are tightly related, their purposes are completely opposed. Whereas SIEM allows an analyst to discard tons of unnecessary events to pick out the few that are important, the goal of a good Log Management solution is to log every single event from every single device or system on the network and store them to disk for regulatory compliance and future analysis”. Thus, with ASCe, information that may be needed in the future is ACCESSIBLE.

ASCe will be released this Summer and it will support the logging of over 20,000 – 30,000 Events Per Second (EPS), boast 20 to 1 compression of all logs, MD5 check summing and password protection of log data, daily rotation of log files for archives and backups, easy search capabilities on archived audit data. ASCe fully integrates with the ASC SIEM component, so events that occurred in the past can be imported and analyzed today. Thus, ASCe meets compliance regulations and saves administrators time, money and headaches!
