A year ago today my little niece was born, Happy Birthday Peytra. I've been lucky to have the opportunity to get on my belly here at our house and capture some precious moments within this first year... thank you Peytra girl, you've been a light to our world! A family affair... that's the best way to describe this intimate, authentic wedding day. Every bit of it held meaning; I couldn't help but focus on the generational wedding portraits as the day for us began. Here we were, about to capture the wedding day of their granddaughter and daughter, their grandson and son; the next set of hearts that would forever tie together two families. And, we know how special they are, being very dear friends of our own.

I love the glee of this couple. You can see it in his smile and her rosy cheeks, and spending an afternoon in them in the fall of 2011 has been long awaitiing a view on the blog. Traci's smile is contagious, and Todd's happiness is evidence of that. The word "Sweetheart" perfectly describes them. What began as a plan for the Indianapolis Canal transformed in a matter of months into a beautiful, beach front, bright sunny evening wedding in Marco Island. John and I were thrilled to go along for the change and even more so when arriving and seeing the fabulous hotel, meeting the friendly guests of the wedding and seeing how happy our clients were on their wedding day.

This handsome couple had style, beauty, and wit, and the results are making me very happy. And, this short collection here is just a handful from one of the ten hours we spent together. Someone once said that for every minute of organizing an hour is earned, and I applaud this couple for working with me on understanding that and making it happen. Whenever I sit down with a set of new potential clients, I never get too far in the idea of photographing their wedding without discussing the time frame of the day...

Whenever it comes time to print for a show, I nearly agonize over trying to narrow the scope; which photos have lingered with me, which will be the ones to say the most about how we shoot, and {always important in printing a large scale photo you'll be near often}, which photos display the personalities we've fallen for even without the lens. There is just so much that can be told through a photograph, equally from the world of the photographer and the world of the subject. The best is when they meet in just the right moment and tell it true.

This evening my father came home from a family reunion in Georgia that I was not able to attend, but it has me thinking of the silos I used to see every summer, the quiet open spaces of cotton fields and the color of empty dirt roads. It's easy to imagine the romance of rural life, but what's even easier is to see the simplicity of what matters most, what the land needs, what we need. I immediately thought of Sam and Brady.

Sweet moments of reverie and nostalgia were not hard to emphasis in this luscious green field where our senior shoot took place. Emily and I met just prior to the shoot, but we were on the same page of the book long before the cover was even opened. I've started to name the moments... sun kissed, violet, cotton candy... a harry callahan second, a carnival memory... they go on and on. Thank you Emily, you are a beautiful young lady with a smile contagious and blessed. The path of your next journey is waiting for you, congratulations on your graduation.
