I think one of my favorite things about a beach destination wedding in the US Virgin Islands is that you don't feel as though you have to conform to all the wedding traditions. At this wedding, the couple's daughter was the first to walk down the 'aisle' as the flower girl, wearing an adorable handmade blue dress from Etsy. Don't you just love her dress?

Rain on your wedding day!

The photographs above where made on Trunk Bay Beach and are a great example of what it looks like if it rains at your wedding. Really it was only a little sprinkle of rain while we where on the beach but you can see a lot of rain in the background of the photographs where it creates a dramatic sky.

This photo shoot was a lot of fun: the couple was actually married in the states and where just visiting St John for the day on a cruise ship. The bride had been to Trunk Bay Beach in the past and wanted to return to the beach so she could stand in the ocean in her wedding dress.

Vy and David's wedding photography had the best of both worlds since they planned for photos in the morning as well as at sunset. They planned a pre-wedding photo session a couple of days before their wedding at Hawksnest Beach and at the Annaberg Sugar Mill Ruins - it was wonderful for them to become comfortable with me and the camera before their wedding. This also allowed us to really enjoy being with their family and friends for the ceremony and reception that they had planned to happen at sunset on Trunk Bay Beach and at the Waterfront Bistro.

I had so much fun photographing this wedding on St John that I had to pause every now and then to stop myself from laughing for fear the photographs would be blurry. Kerri and Yehudah are such a fun loving adventurous couple they are a complete joy just be around.

Every now and then I get a bride and groom that are planning their wedding themselves (DIY) like this wedding. This wedding had a few unique challenges because the couple works for a boat charter company and is constantly on the go throughout the Caribbean, they planned their entire wedding via emails. I'm so impressed that everything came out so lovely.

The wedding ceremony was held on Hawksnest Bay Beach and performed by a friend, we stopped at the Trunk Bay Overlook for a couple of scenic photographs on our way out to Concordia for the Reception.

This was such a fun, yet simple, wedding to photograph on Trunk Bay Beach on St John. I love that the bride didn't wear the conventional white wedding dress. Beach weddings have so much freedom to personalize your wedding ceremony, the possibilities are endless.

A HONEYMOON IN PARADISE
A destination wedding in the Virgin Islands isn't for everyone, some people like to get married in their hometown, but I can't imagine anyone feeling that way about their honeymoon. The US Virgin Islands is an amazingly romantic location to have a honeymoon; with it's pristine white sandy beaches that are perfect for a long walk as a newlywed couple and only a short flight away from the US.

Island Destination Wedding

Jessica and Chris traveled down from New Orleans to get married on St John with 50 of their closest family and friends. I met the bridal couple in Peter Bay Estates at Villa Rotunda for a few pre-wedding photographs of the couple getting ready. We staged the moment of the groom seeing his bride for the first time in her wedding dress, so that we were able to photograph them together before the ceremony. Chris was a little nervous, yet excited and Jessica had to be one of the coolest brides I've photographed: she said, "I'm marrying my best-friend why would I be nervous?"
Jessica and Chris exchanged their wedding vows on Trunk Bay Beach as the sun set under a beautiful arch of flowers. Their reception was held at the Waterfront Bistro in Cruz Bay. The DJ played music that had everyone up and shaking it on the dance floor.

P.S. I love how Jessica's pink Kate Spade shoes matches Chris's tie.

It's hard to believe but the morning of Savannah and Jack's wedding it was torrentially raining. So, we had to change their wedding day and hope for sunshine. We where all so happy that we did because the day couldn't have been more picture perfect for a wedding.
