CrushCrush Couture is proud to introduce our October Featured Jewelry Designer Paul with his line, “From War to Peace.” From War to Peace has a commitment to a world without war and wasteful use of materials.  During the Vietnam era, Paul was a peace activist and later became a legislator.  Paul’s inspiration comes from his involvement in the political arena and anti-war activism.  Paul’s unique designs feature completely recycled materials.  The most notable of which is called Peace Bronze, which originates from disarmed nuclear missile systems from the American Midwest. It is not radioactive and is safe to handle– just as the coins in your wallet. 

 Paul’s pieces feature various symbols of peace from around the world.  One such symbol, the circle, conveys the message of infinite and timeless peace.  Others include the Muslim and Jewish open palm symbol, and the Christian cross.

Red Magma Crystal Heart Necklace

KMarie is one of six children and was raised in upstate New York by parents who were both artists. Out of necessity, she started sewing her own clothes which paved the way for her love of wearable design and art. After active duty in the U.S. Marine Corp and several years in the Interior Design Business, she decided it was time to get back to her love of wearable art.

KMarie’s jewelry makes a statement. KMarie Designs are truly distinctive and are heirloom quality with color combinations of brass filigree and Austrian crystals.

Her inspiration came from Victorian style jewelry which became popular in the USA in the late 1800’s and continued through the mid 1900’s. During this period, there were many USA brass houses producing Victorian style brass components for use in jewelry and decorative items. The tooling for many of these pieces are still in existence and to our delight, are being reproduced for our enjoyment today! With aging/antiquing technics, it is virtually impossible to tell the difference. As you can see in her designs, she mixes old & new in many of her pieces to give that modern twist to Vintage inspired, heirloom quality jewelry.

The Victorian Era is named for the reign of Queen Victoria (1837-1901). Known for its eclecticism, the Victorians took on many of the styles from the middle ages including Gothic & Renaissance motifs. Iron & steel were also used in jewelry throughout these eras (from the early 1700’s) and can also be found in jewelry as late as the 1930’s.
