I have not used Ezine @rticles in a while but I have another endeavor I am exploring so got back to writing articles. I wrote said article at least a month ago and submitted to GoArticles, ArticleCat, and Article Directory ... and put it out there on DropJack. Well I had the brilliant idea to submit it the other day to Ezine @rticles. That went over like a lead balloon, this morning I open my email

Stop Just Read this short post if you really want to know.

I’m sure you have seen this advertisement “a lot” don’t fall for it. Don’t buy any program E-book or into any program that promises to put your keyword phrase or term at the top of Google’s search either 1st place or 2nd or where ever they promise it to be.

Why not?? You ask. Because you can do it your self for free. If you have a blog I can tell you how I got my search term in second place in less than 10 days. If you don’t believe me open another window go to Google and search for

ce’s eco

in Google it should be the second listing which is ceseco.blogspot.com. Make sure your type it exactly that way ce’s eco. It will show.. I will update this post in a bit if you want more information.

Oh and by the way this blog has a page rank of 0 right now and still shows up as second place.. and is only 10 days old if you dont belive that check the first post its dated 3rd Dec. 2008.

As the top of my blog states, TRUST NO ONE, not even me.

But, with that in mind this blog has taken a minor deviation for a while .. I will still be trying to help the consumer not to get bitten by the seller. But until I can get a bit more traffic I am going to try some different things.

If you can handle (what they say) once a week advertisement in you inbox then try this it takes 5 min. of your time and you have to see 6 web sites (you can sign up for a free hotmail acct just for this if you want). I have surfed 1000 times that with TrafficSwarm and LinkRefferal. So I have nothing to lose here.

Hi,

I recently graduated from college and I am looking to buy my first car. I have basically no experience with loans of any type. My question is basically about different loan amounts, but I will explain further.

Please correct me if I am wrong, but here is how I see things. I can buy a car at a dealership and trade in my old car, or buy a car at a dealership and sell my old car privately. However, I can't be without a car, meaning I can't sell the old car privately before buying the new one. I know I could get more selling it privately as well.

Here is my question: How does what I decide affect the overall cost of the loan.

For example, If I want to spend 20k on a car (assume no down payment in this example, but there will be a decent down payment), I could take out a 20k loan, paid off over x months at y interest rate. I could then sell my car privately, and get, say, 5k, and put that straight back into the loan. Or, I trade in the old car, get, say, 3.5k for it, and take out a 16.5k loan over x months at y interest rate.

Now, from what I can tell, if I got the 20k loan and put the 5k right back into it, the monthly payment wouldn't change, it would just require less months to pay off the balance of the loan (assuming I am the standard monthly payment for the life of the loan).

If I got the 16.5k loan for the same number of months, the monthly payment would obviously be lower, but would require the full number of months to pay everything off (assuming standard monthly payments).

I would assume I could adjust the total number of months to make the monthly rates similar. For example, the 20k loan over 72 months would have a similar monthly payment to a 16.5k loan over 60 months (not sure on the math here, but you get the idea).

Please let me know if anything is confusing, it is hard enough to keep things straight in my head.

There is a similar situation for me as far as the down payment. I am going to be coming into some money at the end of the year, but if the right car comes along at the right price, I need to know if I can jump on it without being hurt in the long run.

This is just all what would make sense to me and I am not sure if it is all correct. I am looking for advice on a couple things: Is there any advantage/disadvantage to one way over the other? Is there any reason to not pour 5k into a 20k loan right off the bat? Is there something I am missing? Just tell me what you think, I am soaking up all the information I can get.

Not sure if this will help or not, but here goes ..
If you get a loan for

$ 20,000
Dealer handling say 294.50
Tax rate of say 8.60%
Intrest rate of 7% (should be real close to Credit Union rates right now)
No dealer funny stuff … extended warranties… under coating

60 month loan (5 yrs) $437 or so..

With trade value of 3500 your loan would be 362$ or so..

Now if you sold your trade your self.. (make sure there are no pre payment penalties with the bank) selling your car sometimes seems easier than you think (unless it’s a high demand vehicle) but if you can sell it and put that back in to the loan it will reduce the interest you pay to the bank .. but the payments will stay the same. The length of the loan will decrease though.

Rebuilt Title / Salvage Title Q and A

I'm looking to get my first car soon and I’ve had my eye on a Scion TC. I found one for around $8,000. I called the person and asked if it had a rebuild title and it does. Everyone I’ve found on auto trader for this price range are rebuild titles..... Anyway, from what i understand a rebuild title means the car was totaled and then put back together. So while i was talking to the guy he said all that damage that happened was on the front bumper and lights.... Does that sound sort of iffy like he might be trying to scam me into buying a POS car? It is always possible that an insurance company would total out a car if the estimates for repair exceed the acv (actual cash value) of the car by the insurance companies standards. Some of them go by Kelly Blue Book, Nada, Black Book, and some have even created there own valuation system. But with that said … if you really want that one.. take it to a mechanic, and then take it to a body shop and have them check the frame.. Just remember you will not be able to ever get full coverage insurance on this car either .. so that is something to think about to.

Car loan help! Not So Good Credit Q & A

I have a few questions concerning car loans. I currently want to purchase a car and I’ll need around a $20,000 loan. My credit isn't the greatest, I’m currently in the process in repairing it and it should improve a lot in the next few months, but I kind of want to purchase a car sooner than that. I went to a dealership and priced out a car, and they offered me a loan at 13.5% which is a lot higher than I wanted I was looking for around 6%. I've read that car dealership loans are usually higher. My questions are with my score (they listed it as 665) will I be able to get around 6% from outside the dealership or should I wait the few months to bring my score up. Also how easy would it be to refinance down the road maybe 6-12 months later if I took a high percentage loan then repaired my credit?

I’m not a finance guru, but I would say (and this is probably not what you want to hear) wait.. continue to rebuild your credit .. better the credit better the loan percentage rate. You can also shop loans the way you shop for a car. If you have a buyers order made up from the dealership you can take that to your own bank that you normally deal with they can approve you as well and give you a letter of credit to buy the car. My suggestion still goes back to .. wait. Join a Credit Union they will have the best rates. But it takes time to rebuild credit through your fico scores and time with the Credit Union will help too. Hope that helps you make your decision.. Never let emotion get in the way of buying a car. Also .. I have not heard of much good coming out of refinancing cars after the fact .. it will just reset you back to 0 on your equity and in the long run could hurt you because the value of the car drops exponentially once you drive it off the lot. Times are difficult for a lot of folks right now (including my self) so I can empathize. With that being said, have you tried approaching your bank where you have your checking and savings? If you have had a long standing relationship with them it is a possibility they will extend you the loan you are looking for. You could have the private seller draft a personal buyers order showing the cost of the vehicle, miles, vin, and accessories. The only problem I would foresee in this adventure would be the loan value the bank is willing to lend could be less than the seller would be willing to take. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome are you tired all the time?

During my service to our country many years ago, I had a buddy that was diagnosed with this CFS. His regular cure for this was a couple of shots of Vodka (Stolies), my out look on this was it just made him more tired and grumpy. IMO in retrospect I wish he had this information at the time it would probably would have helped him a lot more than the vodka. I also know that a person very close to me will benefit from this information as well, she has a constant “I’m tired syndrome” , or feels like she is coming down with the flu or bug all the time. CFS is a flu-like condition that zappes or drains your energy, and this can last for years

Directly from the CDC (Centers For Disease Control and Prevention), “studies by the CDC and others have shown that between 1 and 4 million Americans suffer from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) “

“CFS is a complicated disorder characterized by extreme fatigue that doesn’t improve with bed rest and may worsen with physical or mental activity.” Quoting from the Mayo Clinic.

“Women are diagnosed with CFS far more often than men are. However, it is unclear weather CFS affects women more frequently or if women report it more often than men do.”

Myth: I have 3 days to return my car

Simple answer is NO. There is not a provision, law, or documentation any where that would give the right or possibility of rescinding a vehicle purchase from a dealership.

Straight out of Colorado Department of Revenues web site “The right to rescind does not cover motor vehicle/powersports vehicles purchased at a dealership. Once you sign a buyer's order and the appropriate forms required by law, you have bought a motor vehicle/powersports vehicle.”

So where does this myth come from? Well apparently there a situations that you would have a so called “cooling off” period, or a three (3) day right to rescind.

From contract law on the Colorado Bar Association:

Home Solicitations: Consumer has 3 day right if all of the following are true
1. the contract is signed in the consumer’s residence or another person’s residence
2. the sale was not previously negotiated at a business establishment
3. the purchase was made on credit without use of a credit card.

Charitable Organizations.
Security Interests in a Home
Buyers Clubs
Time Shares
Dance Clubs
Ect… the list goes on it can be read here if you would like. Moral of the story as I have said before make sure you know what you are getting in to. Make sure you have done your home work. Research, research, then do some more research. And never let your emotions get involved in the purchase of anything. Buyers remorse is just that buyers remorse and there is nothing that can help you after the contracts have been signed.

Lemon Law is my Vehicle covered

There is confusion on this issue as much as AS-IS, does the Lemon Law cover my vehicle.

Well, your vehicle is covered under the Colorado’s Lemon Law if and only if it fits all categories below taken straight out of lemon law pdf file on Colorado State Revenue Site:

1.) Colorado’s Lemon Law covers only NEW and self-propelled vehicles, including pickups and vans.
2.) Under the law, a “reasonable number of attempts” to repair a defect applies when the same defect remains after it has been subject to repair four (4) or more times within the first year after the date of original delivery.
3.) Also applies when the vehicle is out of service for repairs for a cumulative total of thirty (30) or more business days during the warranty term or one year after original delivery, which ever comes first.

There is more to this document and you can read the whole thing at the link above. But there are many stipulations that come with this. First of which, NEW vehicles are only covered under the law. If you purchase a used vehicle from a dealer or private party the Lemon Law will not cover you. Some consumers consistently have the misconception that all they have to do is threaten Lemon Law and they will get a replacement vehicle, this is utterly not true. Even under the law “This Does not mean that the manufacturer will automatically replace the vehicle or refund money.”

Car buying AS-IS means AS-IS

This question seems to never be answered correctly or taken as a matter of fact by some consumers, AS-IS what does it really mean when purchasing a used car from a dealer or even a private seller. I will follow this up with definitions and documentation, but in all reality if you buy it AS-IS and you drive off in the vehicle and it blows up in to a million pieces and parts you now own all million parts, and still have to abide by the contracts you have signed in the process. When a car is purchased from a dealer and there is not a warrantee sold with the vehicle a Statement of Non-Guarantee should be signed by both the seller (Dealership) and the consumer (at least in Colorado not sure about other states). Taking excerpts from form Rev. 10/25 approved by Colorado Independent Automobile Dealers Association.

“Unless a separate ***written*** instrument showing the terms or any dealer warranty or service contract is furnished by the dealer to the buyer, this vehicle is sold “AS IS – not expressly warranted or guaranteed”, and the seller hereby disclaims all warranties, either express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.”

“The purchaser shall not be entitled to recover from the dealer any consequential damages, damages to property, damages for loss or use, loss of profits, loss of time, loss of income, or any other incidental damages.”

***written***… Never, Never, and I mean NEVER take the sales person’s / Manager’s word (or any one else for that matter) make sure it is WRITTEN down. Promises spoken are not promises at all. It will never hold up in court or other wise. No matter how reliable, friendly, or how much you trust them… DON’T TRUST ANYONE.

So what does all of that mean, well most of it is straight to the point. But in blunt terms, if you buy it AS-IS and you drive off the lot and it breaks in half. You now own both halves. It does not matter how long you have had value out of your purchase if it was one minute, one hour, one day, or one year it is still AS-IS. Now all of this sounds very harsh and unforgiving. Sorry but it is that is just the way it is. Not all of us can afford to go out and either buy cash or finance a new car with full warranty and all the benefits that go along with it. So what do we do?

Do diligence, do your research.

Research the Dealer you are buying from. Check them out with the Better Business Bureau. If you have a friend or an acquaintance that purchased from them ask their opinion of their buying experience.

Ask if you can take the vehicle to an independent mechanic. If they refuse or beat around the bush you might consider going else where. They should be happy to allow that and have a test drive agreement ready for you to sign.

Have a mechanic ready, if you know one or have a regular shop you take your cars to use them it may cost a little bit in the short run but could save you in the long run.

If you can afford it, or if you can finance it a warrantee may cover the major items such as engine or transmission. But be careful of the warrantee as well some of them do not cover much either. And can claim pre-existing issues, or will not cover certain items.

Check it out your self. Test drive it, not just around the block. Take it out on the highway, side streets, and back roads. Drive how you normally drive, if you work down town head down there. Make sure you know what you are getting in to. Check the oil, transmission fluid, and all other fluids. Check the breaks, lights, tail lights, turn signals, backup lights. Don’t kick the tires.. I have never known or seen this give any evidence of a good vehicle.

Tom Martino Wrote an Article some years ago in the Rocky Mountain News dated May 19, 1994 “Debunking consumer myths: ‘As Is’ really does mean ‘As Is’”.
