Digestive system concept

Gall bladder functions for storage and secretion of Bile into small intestine. Bile helps in lipid digestion by emulcification, However the surgically removal of gall bladder dont have any severe effect on lipid digestion.....WHY.?

Ans...

Gall bladder function only for concentrate and storage of Bile but the synthesis of bile takes place in liver. So even if Gallbladder is surgically removed from the body the liver will directly secrete bile into small intestine and fat will be emulsified. That is the reason in case of gall stone Gall bladder is removed and patient not suffer from any severe problem in Fat digestion.

Explanation...
G1 is considered as most variable phase of cell cycle because of its variation in time periods of different types of cell. Like mammalian cell in culture take about 10-12 hours whereas in zygotic cleavage it takes less then a hour. While the time taken by all others phases of cell cycle remains about constant.

Applications are invited from Indian citizens for admission to the post graduate programmes for the session commencing from July 2014

Eligibility;-

Ph.D. (Engineering): M.Tech./ME./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. The candidates with Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or Master's degree in Sciences in an allied area with exceptional academic record and having a valid GATE score may also apply. For Ph.D. in BSBE, candidate with MBBS, B.Pharma or M.Pharma Degree may also apply.

Ph.D. (Sciences & HSS): M.Sc./M.A. Degree in respective or allied area with a valid GATE/UGC/CSIR score.

Ph.D. (Management): A master's degree in management or relevant disciplines in engineering / technology with a valid GATE / UGC / CSIR score.

Ph.D. (Design): A master's degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Design with a valid GATE / UGC / CEED score.

M.Tech. (Engineering): B.Tech./BE./M.Sc.(Engg.) degree in the respective or allied area. For admission into M.Tech. in Biological Sciences and Bio-engineering, applicants having bachelor’s degree in pharmacy/medicine with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum may also be considered.

M.Des.: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Design or Architecture with a valid GATE / CEED score. Candidates holding degrees in Fine Arts or Interior Design are not eligible to apply.

M.B.A.: A bachelor’s degree in Engineering with minimum 60 percent marks/6.0 CPI with a valid CAT score. Candidates from Architecture tream may also apply provided they have Mathematics as a subject at 10+2 level.

GENERAL INFORMATION:

All applications must be filled online. After filling the online application, one has to take a print out and send it to the department concerned, along with all the certificates, photograph, and a draft for application fee. The list of attachments are provided on the application page .

Financial assistance may be provided to students selected in M.Tech. and Ph.D. programmes.

IMPORTANT DATES:

The online applications will be available from 28th March 2014, till 14th April 2014.

The printed application, must be received by the departments latest by 17th April, 2014. (along with all certificates and applications fee)

M.Tech. + Ph.D. (Dual Degree)

Candidates eligible for admission to M.Tech. Progamme are also eligible for M.Tech.+ Ph.D. Dual Degree Programme, in certain disciplines/ specializations. There is a common application for M.Tech. and M.Tech.+ Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme.Candidates after getting admission to M.Tech. Programme will be considered for M.Tech.+Ph.D. (Dual Degree) Programme if they have opted for it in the application.

ONE of the following in appropriate subject areas:

The National Institute of Plant Genome Research is an autonomous institution supported by the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India. The Institute has been established to coincide with the 50th anniversary of India's independence as well as birth anniversary of Prof. J. C. Bose.

National Institute of Plant Genome Research, is an Autonomous Research Institution, funded by Department of Biotechnology, Government of India, and conducts basic and applied research in the frontier areas of plant biology. The Institute invites applications from candidates who have completed or will be completing M. Sc. or equivalent degree (by August 31, 2014) in Life Sciences and/or in related disciplines with minimum 55% marks, and have cleared the CSIR-UGC NET exam / DBT-JRF (selected through BET/BINC) / ICMR NET exam for JRF (with a valid Junior Research Fellowship as on September 1, 2014), for conducting advanced researches in the frontier areas of Plant Biology such as, Computational Biology, Genome Analysis and Molecular Mapping, Molecular Mechanism of Abiotic Stress Responses, Nutritional Genomics, Plant Development and Architecture, Plant Immunity, Transgenics for Crop improvement, Molecular Breeding and other emerging areas based on plant genomics . Reservations are as per statutory norms. The selection will be made on the basis of interview only.

The selected candidates will be enrolled for Ph.D. program in academic affiliation with the Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi. NIPGR will provide shared accommodation to selected candidates.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

Application should be typed on A-4 size plain paper in the enclosed format.

Item 3 in the format should be filled in as shown in the Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent.

Each page in the typed application form should be signed by the candidate.

Completed application must be accompanied with a crossed Demand Draft for 300/- in favor of Director, National Institute of Plant Genome Research, payable at New Delhi. A demand draft of 100/- is acceptable from SC/ST candidate provided relevant documentary proof is enclosed. The Demand Draft is not refundable.

Application should be accompanied by attested copies of certificates and mark sheets mentioning the division obtained and Fellowship Award Letter/Admit Card.

Two passport size recent photographs should be enclosed. One of these should be signed by the candidate and pasted on the application form, while the other should be enclosed.

A candidate seeking admission to the course of study leading to the award of a Degree of Doctor of Philosophy must possess at least one of the following qualifications of a recognized University/Institute:

(1) A degree of Master of Sciences or Master's degree in any subject allied to Bio Medical Sciences or Master's Degree in Nursing with at least 60% marks or Master of Surgery or Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree or Diplomat of the National Board of Examinations.

(2) MBBS degree with a minimum of 55% aggregate marks in the professional examinations.

Note:

(i) The Candidates who are likely to complete requisite qualification and degree by 30th July, 2014 may also apply. However, the candidates who are completing their requisite qualification after 30th July, 2014 are not eligible to take up this examination.

(ii) Candidates working in Central Govt./Semi-Govt./Autonomous Organizations should submit their Applications (Downloaded copy of Registration Slip) through proper channel i.e. employer. They will be required to submit a 'No Objection Certificate' from their employer before they are allowed to take the entrance examination of Ph.D. Course at AIIMS

iii) A candidate is allowed to submit application for one speciality/department only

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course will be the time period from registration to submission of thesis.The minimum period of registration in respect of all the candidates who are registered for Ph. D. shall be three years. The maximum period of registration shall not exceed five years.

Centre for Examination : Examination will be conducted in Delhi only in both online & offline modes.

METHOD OF SELECTION

Selection for Ph.D. registration will be made through 2-stage performance evaluation as under: Stage I : Written test carrying 80 marks of 90 minutes duration in the subject the candidate has applied for. The question paper will consist of 50 Theory based Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) and 30 clinical/practical/lab based Short Answer Questions (SAQs)/MCQs. Each correct (MCQ) answer will be awarded 1 mark and each wrong (MCQ) answer will be awarded one-third (-1/3) negative mark. More than one answer will be treated as wrong answer and awarded negative mark. Zero mark will be given for questions not answered.

Stage II : Out of the candidates who secured 50 percent or above in the written test (Stage-I), candidates 3 times the number of seats advertised will be called for departmental clinical/practical/lab based assessment (carrying 20 marks) on the fourth day.

Note:

I) The result of stage-I will be displayed on the Notice Board of the Examination Section, AIIMS and on website. No individual intimation will be sent.

II) Candidates who fail to attend any of the two stages mentioned above will not be eligible for admission.

III) Admission to Ph.D. Course will be subject to the availability of research funds/fellowship/ grant from recognized funding agencies. The admission will be finalised and offer will be sent to the candidate only when evidence of availability of research funds/grant/fellowship for the project is submitted by the selected candidate through the concerned Head of the Department.

Selected candidates are required to join on 01.08.2014 or before 16.08.2014. In case the candidate fails to join by this date and no written request for extension is received by 16.08.2014, it will be assumed that he/she does not intend to join the course and the seat will be offered to the next candidate on the waiting list. No further correspondence will be

Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology, Hyderabad, invites applications from candidates who are bonafide Indian citizens, to pursue research in modern biology leading to a Ph. D. Degree. The projects offered for Ph.D. would be in the broad areas of Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Genomics, Developmental Biology, Nanobiology, Plant Molecular Biology, Conservation Biology, Ecology, Protein Structure and Function, Biology of Macromolecules, Biology of Infection, Epigenetics, Chromatin Biology and Bioinformatics.

Candidates who satisfy the following criteria only need apply:

Candidates with a Master’s degree in any branch of science or a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Pharmacy or Medicine having a valid National level fellowship (JRF/SRF of various funding agencies, e.g., CSIR, UGC, DBT, ICMR, etc.), DST-INSPIRE or any other equivalent fellowship can only apply. Valid fellowship is an absolute requirement for pursuing PhD at this Centre.
Candidates qualified only for lecturer-ship in CSIR-UGC (NET) examination need not apply.
Upper age limit is 28 years as on 05.05.2014 which is relaxable by 5 years as per GoI rules for SC/ST/OBC/Women/Physically Handicapped candidates.

Applications: Candidates who satisfy the above criteria may submit their applications online by 05.05.2014. Candidates selected for the written test will be intimated through email by 15.05.2014.

Written Test and Interview: The online applications will be screened and the eligible candidates will be called for written test on 11.06.2014 at CCMB, Hyderabad. Candidates qualified in the written test will have to appear for interview on 12.06.2014 and 13.06.2014. Candidates selected in the interview will be asked to stay for discussions on 14.06.2014. Travelling Allowance is not payable by CCMB and candidates have to make their own arrangements for stay, etc. at Hyderabad.

Candidates qualified in CSIR-UGC-NET or ICMR-JRF or DBT-JRF or any other equivalent fellowship such as DST-Inspire can also walk in on the day of the written test (11th June 2014) at 7.30 AM into CCMB along with proof of their qualification for the respective fellowship.

Mere fulfilment of the minimum requirements stipulated in the notification would not automatically entitle a person for selection. The decision of the Centre in this regard shall be final. Canvassing in any form and/or bringing in any influence, political or otherwise, will be treated as a disqualification.

Master’s (MSc/MS) degree in any of the disciplines of Biological Sciences with a minimum of 60% marks or CGPA 7.0. Eligibility for Admission

The eligibility criteria prescribed below are the absolute minimum. The Selection Committee may prescribe requirements over and above these.

(a) PhD Program in an Engineering discipline

1. Applicants with a Master's degree in Engineering namely M.Tech, M. E., M. Sc. (Engineering) or MS by Research with at least 60% marks or at least 6.5/10 Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) or Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA). Such students are required to have at least 60% marks or 6.5/10 CPI or CGPA in Bachelor's degree.

2. Applicants with a Master's degree in Sciences with at least 70% marks or at least 7.0/10 CPI or CGPA with a valid GATE, CSIR, UGC or NBHM score card. Such students are required to have 70% marks or 7.0/10 CPI or CGPA in Bachelor's degree.

3. Applicants with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering with

(i) a B.Tech, B.E. or B.Sc. (Engineering) degree with at least 80% marks or at least 8/10 CPI or CGPA and a valid GATE score, and

(ii) a B.Tech. degree from any of the IITs with at least 8/10 CPI or CGPA with a valid GATE Score Card.

(b) PhD Program in Science discipline

1. Master's degree in Sciences with at least 60% marks or at least 6.5/10 CPI or CGPA with a valid GATE, CSIR, UGC score card or equivalent. Such students are required to have at least 60% marks or 6.5/10 CPI or CGPA in Bachelor's degree.

Applicants holding Master's degree in Engineering also are eligible to apply for PhD Programme in Sciences with at least 70% marks or 7/10 CPI or CGPA. Again, such applicants are required to have at least 70% marks or 7/10 CPI or CGPA in both the Bachelor's and Master's degree.

2. Applicants holding only Bachelor's degree in Engineering with

(i) a B.Tech, B.E. or B.Sc.(Engineering) degree with at least 80% marks or 8/10 CPI or CGPA and a valid GATE score card

(ii) a B.Tech. degree from any of the IITs with at least 8/10 CPI or CGPA or a valid GATE score card.

(c) PhD Program in Humanities and Social Science Discipline

1. Master's degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Engineering or allied areas with at least 55% marks or 6.0/10 CPI or CGPA with a valid GATE, UGC or CSIR score.

2. Applicants holding only Bachelor's degree in Engineering with

(i) a B.Tech, B.E. or B.Sc.(Engineering) degree with at least 80% marks or 8/10 CPI or CGPA and a valid GATE score card

(ii) a B.Tech. degree from any of the IITs with at least 8/10 CPI or CGPA or a valid GATE score card.

Part-Time and Sponsored students in any discipline: Three years of relevant experience is needed for those with M. Tech degree and five years of relevant experience is needed for those with B. Tech or M. Sc. degree. This category is only for those who are working in research labs or in similar institutions. Please note that no financial assistance will be provided under this category.

Financial Assistance

Ph.D. students shall be offered Teaching or Research Assistantships in return for 8 hours of work per week.

The assistantship is Rs.18,000 for students enrolled for PhD in Engineering discipline, and Rs. 16,000 for those in Sciences and Humanities & Social Sciences discipline for the first two years. It can be raised to Rs. 20,000 and Rs. 18,000, respectively, for another two years on the basis of formal review conducted by the Supervisor(s) of the PhD student.

Also, the Institute provides partial financial support up to Rs. 25,000 to each PhD student during their entire PhD Program for presenting research papers at International conferences, workshops or seminars.

The norms of reservation for different categories shall be adopted as laid down by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India.
