WE NEED TO GET THE DEPOSIT AND NUMBER OF CAMPERS AND PARENTS PLANNING TO ATTEND CAMP TURNED IN BY:

NO FORM TO COMPLETE AT THIS TIME:

We simply need a confirmation of who plans to attend. The Pack will be turning in one form with the total number planning to attend along with the deposit.

$25 DEPOSIT FEE FOR EACH SCOUT AND PARENT IS DUE!

Turn in your deposit checks to your Den Leader no later than Wednesday, March 11th.
Checks can be made payable to PACK 184.
PLEASE NOTE: You are committing to a nonrefundable $25 deposit!

If you decide later that your scout and/or you will not attend camp you will lose the deposit – this is nonnegotiable. Again, if you commit, the deposit is owed regardless of attendance.

If you do not reserve a spot with the pack by 3/13, you are not guaranteed a spot! This cannot be negotiated. We have had problems with this in the past and were not able to add any more campers at a later date.

Fellow Pack 184 Parents,

I want to share with you an opportunity for you and/or your employer to get involved in an upcoming event that directly benefits our local Scouting Council.

On Friday, June 7, 2013, the Pennsylvania Dutch Council, will host its 11^th Annual Boy Scout Golf Classic at Conestoga Country Club. The Golf Classic is a scramble-style tournament, which is open to and enjoyed by golfers of all skill levels. The purpose of the event is to fund the Council’s summer “Campership” program, which assists families in need of financial assistance attend summer camp – including our favorite camp, Camp Mack! In case you were not aware, the Pennsylvania Dutch Council is providing programs to over 5,500 families through 217 Scouting units (including our own Pack 184) and 140 community partnerships throughout Lancaster and Lebanon counties. Pack 184 is fortunate to be affiliated with such an engaged and well-organized Council. The Golf Classic is a great way to get your employer or business to support a program that is not only important to your family, but also important to our community.

The attached flier provides an overview of this year’s Golf Classic and details the various sponsorship opportunities. It also provides registration instructions if you are interested in playing. Various levels of sponsorship opportunities exist – with opportunities as low as $150. Most of the sponsorship levels include a really nice, embroidered golf flag for you or your employer to proudly display at home or in the workplace. The event is a first class event and “sold out” last year, with over 120 golfers participating – making it a great marketing/advertising opportunity for your employer or business.

Hershey Bears Sleepover

Please download the form and bring to the pinewood derby or scan and email to Rich Brown next week.

Attached is the Hershey Bears sleepover form. Please distribute quickly to your dens. The Bears will not do a website portal and need a commitment by February 8th for sleepovers only; this means I need to know sleepovers by February 7th. Rich Brown reserved a section of 40 seats (consistent with past 2 years).

Join Pack 184, Cocoa the Bear, and the rest of the Hershey Bears on Saturday, April 6th for the 8th annual scout sleepover event at the Giant Center.

Sleepover scouts will receive a Game Day Admission Ticket, a Giant Center Dinner Meal Voucher, a Hershey Bears Scout Patch, and a parking pass. Plus post game activities (ice skating) and entertainment (movie). On Saturday morning enjoy a hot breakfast before departing the Giant Center.
Can’t sleepover? No Problem! Please plan to join us and purchase a game only ticket.

This event sells out fast so we need to have everyones payment by the February 8th; we will have someone at the Pinewood Derby to receive payment for both the Blue & Gold and Hershey Bears Event. Please make your payment to "Pack 184."

Game Only = $13 per person
Sleepover = $41 per person

As my father-in-law would say, "Boy that's salty!" Well if you never did the sleepover it is worth the price, the kids have a crazy fun time! Not only is there the Hockey game, but then they get to ice skate after the game and usually have a nature presentation with animals from the zoo. The night caps off with a movie on the big screen with popcorn and bedtime around 2am! At the crack of dawn, enjoy a pancake breakfast. Who knows, maybe Doug will lead the adults on a morning run around the complex? When you factor in the lack of sleep, it is priceless.

What to bring? Sleeping bag, pillow, camping mat (you sleep on the floor near the concessions area), pillow, comfortable clothing, and toiletries. If you own ice skates I recommend bringing them to avoid the long lines at the rental counter.

School Kits for December meeting

School kits are Mennonite Central Committee(MCC)'s most-requested item. Notebooks and pencils become treasures to families who struggle to afford basic school supplies. School kits are also given to refugee and displaced children, helping students and teachers add some normalcy to disrupted lives. They are frequently requested after natural disasters. MCC sends school kits to places including Iraq, Nicaragua, North Korea and to poorly funded schools in Canada and the United States.

4 spiral or perforated notebooks (about 21.5cm x 27cm / 8.5in x 10.5in and 70 sheets U.S)
4 unsharpened pencils
1 ruler (flat, flexible plastic; indicating both 30cm and 12in)
12 colored pencils (in packaging)
1 large pencil eraser

As a pack, our goal is to put together 50 school kids. Each Den should try to collect enough of their assigned item below for 50 kits. The goal is to put together the kits at the December Pack meeting.

Tigers (Grade 1)— 200 Unsharpened Pencils (we have 32)

Wolves ( Grade 2)— (50) packs of 12 Colored Pencils (??)

Bears (Grade 3)— 200 Notebooks (we have 8)

Webelos 1 (Grade 4)— 50 Rulers (complete)

Webelos 2 (grade 5)— 50 Erasers (complete)

Please forward and coordinate with your Dens to make this happen. It is Pack 184's Christmas gift to those in need.
