Todos los que han planeado un viaje a Culebra se han enfrentado con varias decisiones. 1) ¿Cuantos días vamos? 2) ¿Alquilamos villa o nos vamos camping? 3) ¿Que llevamos con nosotros y que compramos en Culebra? 4) ¿Vamos en lancha o en avión? Aquí mis recomendaciones rápidas:

1) ¿Cuantos días tienes libres? Siempre que uno se encuentra en Culebra busca como retrasar el regreso a la "isla grande". Hágase un favor y quédese cuanto tiempo tenga disponible. ¡No se arrepentirá!

2) La decisión de alojamiento varía dependiendo de su grupo. En Culebra hay muchas villas y apartamentos para alquiler a corto plazo de varios tamaños y precios. A mí siempre me ha gustado tener una ducha y una cocina cuando visito la isla.

3) En Culebra hay varios colmaditos donde puede encontrar de todo lo que necesite. Viaja con poco equipaje, en Culebra puedes comprar comida, bebida y artículos como "sunblock", jabones, baterías, etc. Recomiendo que lleve una neverita vacía con sus maletas dentro de ella y compre comida y bebida en Culebra. También es buena idea traer un radio y briscas o algún juego de cartas o de mesa.

4) Vuela. La experiencia de volar es mucho mas placentera y consume menos tiempo. Volar desde Isla Verde tarda 25-30 minutos y volar desde Ceiba solo tarda 15 minutos. Me alegra ver que se esta hablando de mejorar el sistema de lanchas pero aun falta mucho tiempo. Recomiendo que vueles.

Most people strive to achieve financial success in their lives. Financial success can mean a variety of different thing depending on each person's point of view. Whether you're seeking thousands, millions, or billions of dollars, taking care of yourself is vital to success. A sound body and mind allows us to be effective in our work and in our lives. We've all heard about the value of hard work and it's importance in achieving success but I'm going to talk about the other side of things. Hard work isn't the only thing that's important in our quest for success. My father's take on hard work is the best one I know: "work hard, play hard".

We strengthen relationships with our friends and family when we go on vacation.
Traveling broadens our horizons and helps us be more open minded.
Gives us time to rejuvenate our bodies and minds allowing us to be more effective in our daily lives.

As the cold season approaches in the northern hemisphere many people begin planning their vacations. The tropical climate destinations are always a big hit due to the weather and the clear, warm waters. I've been fortunate to visit some beautiful beaches and some of the clearest water I have ever seen is in Culebra, Puerto Rico. There are areas where the ocean floor can be seen clearly at depths of 40 feet!

It's truly amazing. One of the main reasons Culebra is blessed with such waters is the dry climate of the island and measures that have historically been taken to conserve the island town and its surrounding waters and keys. So when you visit Culebra this winter, be aware of two things:

Conserve water while you are visiting: Whether you are camping or staying in an apartment, house or villa it is important to not over use the fresh water. The arid climate that provides breathtaking views also causes limited resources available to residents and visitors

take a short shower
don't leave the faucet running while doing the dishes or brushing your teeth

Don't leave trash behind: At the beach and at your lodging make sure you leave areas the way you found them, even if that means picking up a can that someone else left on the ground.

July 23, 2011 will mark the open of the 2nd, hopefully annual, celebration of the "Fiesta Pirata Verde" (Green Pirate Party) sponsored by 'Organizacion Legado Ambiental (OLA). This two day festival promoting ecological awareness is the only one of its kind in Puerto Rico. It is looking to create awareness about the importance of maintaining the ecosystem, specifically the role of recycling. It counts on over 100 volunteer workers, musicians, and artists who all join for the cause of creating awareness.

Culebra Vacations is a proud sponsor of the festival and supporter of OLA who is setting a great example for this, and future generations.

Don't forget when you visit Culebra that part of what makes it so special is the natural beauty and tranquility brought on by mother nature. During the busy summer season it is important that all of us take responsibility for maintaining and keeping Culebra Beautiful.

Pick up after yourself after a day on the beach.
Don't throw trash in the water or anywhere but a trash can.
Don't leave the water running more than it needs to be in your villa.
Don't touch the corals, they are as delicate as they are beautiful. They take years to develop and moments to destroy.
Don't fish in protected areas. Areas are protected to help maintain the ecosystem, not to bother you.
USE COMMON SENSE, we all know what is good and bad for the environment. JUST DO IT.
