How to navigate this site for PreK

2020-06-25T14:45:00.001-05:00

Starting your homeschooling journey can be overwhelming enough. I hope this site guide makes it easier to have all the cullinsisd resources at your fingertips. These pictures come from the mobile version of the site but are essentially the same on a computer.

To get started go to the PreK tab at the top of the homepage. Click this for the PreK plans for the entire school year. We call this the Scope and Sequence. It will help you see what themes you will be covering each week and how to plan your school calendar so the themes match up with the holidays.

Then click on each Week # to get the lesson plan for that week. The plans are not day specific. You may choose to do it a couple of days a week or spread to everyday if needed.

Workstations are the same thing as centers or activities. The references in parenthesis will refer you to a page number in your recommended teacher's books.

Next, see the Preschool Planning tab at the top of the Cullinsisd home page.

It has links to all the things you need to know to plan your PreK year.

Now to see pictures of the activities you will do each week, go to the side Menu, PreK by the Week tab. There you will find a list with PK then a week number. Blogger won't allow me to put the numbers in order ( eeekkk) but you can scroll down and find the right number.

For example this will show ALL posts for PreK week 1

These are just thumbnails for each post so click MORE ON THIS to see the entire post and all the pictures.

Then even still when you get to the bottom of the page of thumbnails click MORE POSTS to see even more. These posts are in chronological order backwards (as blogs do) so I recommend going all the way back to get a full picture of the week.

Next one of the best parts of the Cullinsisd site is the Thematic Index found on the side Menu.

There you will find all the activities we have done over the years for each theme.

Don't expect to do each activity with each year. These photos and ideas include a childhood's worth of learning on the subject matter. The PreK and K activities are specific and you can usually tell from the pictures or description which year I did the activity with each child.

If you can't find what you are looking for or don't want to navigate through ten years of blog posts you can go to the search tab at the top of the web page.

The supply list for PreK currently just goes through week 5. If you have time to make lists as you plan your PreK year send them to me and I will add them to the blog to help someone else in the future, Happy Homeschooling!

Where Does our Food Come From?

2020-06-05T11:34:00.004-05:00

How to: Wash out inside of cans while keeping the wrapper untouched. Have kids use a nail and hammer to make small drain holes in the bottom of the cans. Fill with seed starter, potting soil, or dirt from the yard. Plant a few seeds (you can thin later) in the correct store labeled can. We did green beans for green beans, tomatoes for diced and stewed tomato cans, pinto beans for Ranch Style bean cans, and peppers in a Rotel can. Place in a tray or saucer (to catch water from the drain holes) and place in a sunny window. Water carefully with a turkey baster. When they grow to size, you can plant them in your own garden or give as a gift to a friend.

Termite Mound Craft

We happen to live in West Texas where termites abound. We were able to go out in the pasture and trap termites in their tunnels and observe them closely. We then came in and made our own termite mounds from brown clay.
