Methusalem by Cathy Vogan (FR)

"A sensitive portrait by Cathy Vogan of the dancer Ernest Berk at over eighty years of age. His body, his wrinkles, his views on old-age and sexuality, his zest for life link up with a reflection on time from both a biographical and a scientific viewpoint. Experience and wisdom has gathered in the wrinkles of the skin just as in the warped bark of ancient trees. The recent death of Ernest Berk makes this approach to him as "Methuselah," the magician of life, a final poetic document of the times."

City Paradise by Gaelle Denis (UK)

"Gaelle Denis initially draws a gray, desolate picture of the metropolis, depicting it as an intimidating presence. And so it is with Tomoko, a young Japanese girl who comes to London to learn English. At first, she doesn't like it a bit there. She hardly even leaves the house. But that changes radically when, quite by accident, she discovers a mysterious, secret underground city below London, a place that's colorful and friendly. In the wake of this experience, she meets a lot of new friends, learns English and makes one wonderful discovery after another. Gaelle Denis is 29 years old. She was born in France and moved to London in 2000 to study at the Royal College of Art."

Picasso at work A film trailer for the Minotauromachy exhibition LACMA

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) presents Picasso’s Greatest Print: The Minotauromachy in All Its States, a groundbreaking exhibition of Pablo Picasso’s etched masterpiece, Minotauromachy (1935). On view together for the first time in the U.S., the eight etchings that comprise this focused exhibition (the print’s seven states, plus a second impression of the seventh state, hand-colored) represent the only existing suite of all the states of Minotauromachy. Together, they offer a remarkable opportunity to trace Picasso's creative process through the evolution of a single, complex image—one that gradually unfolds from bold conception to glorious fruition.
