Jenna Lord's found dead after two weeks

Jenna Lord

According to information by Philly.com, the body of 23-year-old Jenna Lord has been found in a vacant lot in Camden, New Jersey. As you may know, Lord went missing on July 5th, she was last heard of on a phone call she made while she was on a train station to head home after a July 4th barbecue.

“The second I came to this lot, it was like a very strong feeling. I don’t know how to explain it. I walked straight to her. She was on her back. The smell wasn’t even that strong. . . . I’ve been praying. Maybe God led me to this spot,” her uncle Ariel Morales said.

Around 40 family members gathered to start looking for Jenna Lord, after they considered police wasn’t being too helpful in finding their loved one. On the surveillance tape of that day, there are two men who can be seen near Jenna; family believes these two men are the ones responsible for her death. The same tape shows Lord getting off the train to take what appear to be clothes from another woman to then head back to Camden on train.

There are still losse ends in this story, and Jenna Lord’s family is looking to solve them.

Refudiate: A twitter typo or something else

2010-07-19T14:16:00.000-07:00

Well, maybe the mistake was slightly more than a typo, but not one that isn't all-too-similar to one many of us have made—in some form or another. If nothing else, Palin's error serves as the ultimate reminder of how powerful social networking platforms such as Twitter have become for public figures (and everyone else). After all, the incorrect word at hand—"refudiate"—only graced her page for a few minutes before removed and replaced with the word "refute," the former quickly becoming one of the most searched-for-words on the web. Kind of scary. Twitter is great because it makes celebs seem like they’re “real”—but, oftentimes, being “real” means making grammatical errors and typos.

Refudiate

“‘Refudiate,’ ‘misunderestimate,’ ‘wee-wee’d up.’ English is a living language. Shakespeare liked to coin new words too. Got to celebrate it!”

It remains unclear if the former Alaska governor meant refute or repudiate –she first referenced the word last week on Fox News, calling on President Obama and his wife Michelle to “refudiate” the NAACP’s suggestion that the Tea Party movement was racist.

As word of the word (no pun intended) spread, Ms. Palin presumably decided to delete the tweet. A second tweet asked “peaceful New Yorkers” to “refute the Ground Zero mosque plan.”

Ms. Palin was in New York on Sunday in an effort to assist protesters who are opposing the building of mosque just blocks from ground zero where the World Trade Center once stood.

Rich Cho became the Blazers' choice after meeting last Thursday in Helsinki, Finland with owner Paul Allen.

"He introduced me to sushi nine years ago and taught me to play a little bit of Ping-Pong," Blazer coach Nate McMillan said. "So I knew him as a person."

Rich Cho spent the past eight years as an assistant GM. He said he takes an analytical approach and will seek the opinion of others in the Blazer organization, which has been known for having a lot of people involved in decisions and taking its time to think things through.

"One thing I've learned is that I certainly don't have all the answers," Rich Cho said during a noon press conference at the Rose Garden. "My management and leadership style will be very team-oriented. I will ask for a lot of input. ... We will be very process-oriented and methodical in our approach."

Nokia Siemens to Buy Motorola’s Network Biz

Nokia Siemens to Buy Motorola’s Network Biz

Almost ten years ago, I read a research report by a financial analyst — I can’t remember his name, though I distinctly remember what he predicted — who said that in ten years the wireless hardware business would consolidate around Ericsson and Nokia, which would own Motorola and Nortel. Of course, like many on Wall Street, he didn’t see Huawei coming. But his predictions are indeed coming true.

Earlier today, Espoo, Finland-based Nokia Siemens Networks, a company created by the merger of Siemens’ and Nokia’s networking business announced that it would acquire Motorola’s wireless infrastructure networking business for about $1.2 billion in cash. Motorola isn’t selling the iDen business, which is a key technology used by U.S. government agencies, nor is it selling most of its wireless network infrastructure patents. However, NokiaSiemens Networks will inherit about 7,500 Motorola employees.

For Nokia Siemens Networks, the deal allows it get a bigger traction in two key markets — the United States and Japan. With the deal it becomes the third largest infrastructure provider in U.S. and second largest in the world. It will now be the top gear provider in Japan. NSN also gets access to the CDMA business and about 50 carriers including Sprint, Verizon and Vodafone. NSN also gets hold of Motorola’s WiMAX business, which has 41 deals in 22 countries. The deal should close by the end of this year.

The U.S. and Japan might be great markets for now, but the long term growth for companies like Ericsson and NSN are in emerging markets such as those in Brazil, India and on the African continent. In those markets, wireless gear makers have to contend with low-cost competition from the Chinese. NSN is fighting an uphill battle, and is finding itself in tough competition with Huawei and Ericsson, and from that perspective alone, the $1.2 billion price tag is a bargain, theorizes Mark Sue, an analyst with RBC Capital Markets in a note to his clients. The purchase price represents an EV/Sales multiple of just 0.31 times the FY10 revenue, Sue says.

In her video, she trolls her haters by saying that she’s better than you, has more friends, and that you should get aids, then put a glock in their mouth and make a brain slushie. While most people agree that /b/ is not anyone’s personal army, tumblr took action and trolled the comments of said video. And thus, the Epic of Jessie Slaughter was born.

Large aid package for Pakistan

2010-07-18T14:55:00.000-07:00

Islamabad: Large civilian aid package for Pakistan from US authorities are expected this Monday. It is an attempt to show that Washington has extended its relationship with Pakistan and its not just anti-terror partner but now helping the people of Pakistan.

According to a senior US Official "The (Obama) administration didn't feel good about what we inherited in Pakistan. We felt the relationship was much too much transactional," and ""No country is more important to us than Pakistan ... This represents a sea-change in our approach."

This aid is a result of most waited US legislation, Kerry-Lugar Bill entitling Pakistan for an aid of $1.5 billion a year for the next five years. This package will include projects for public welfare and some main issues like work on dams, irrigation system, clean drinking water systems and health clinics.

"Eighteen months into this (Obama) presidency, we've identified the problems, got the money from Congress, and now you've got the plans together," said the U.S. official. "It's a very big deal."

After meeting with Clinton, Pakistan's President, Asif Zardari said: "We are keen to meet the energy (shortage) challenge head on and pursue policies of public-private partnership to promote investment and production to create jobs and wean away the frustrated youth from resorting to extremism."
