Sometimes I just want to curl up. To hide my face behind my hair; feel soft fur beneath my skin. I want to be safe and warm and not required to do anything except simply be.

Two things that I am good at helping others to remember - and often terrible at remembering to do myself - are to ask for help and to look after myself first. Adonis reminded me of both of these as he took these photographs. Then he wrapped himself around me and reminded me I was safe; let me let control go for a while.

Right now I am very stressed, very tired and very tense. There is too much going on and I need to be the strong one. But while I am the foundation and strength for my brother, so too are my husband, lover, boyfriend, girlfriend, and many friends foundation and strength for me.

So I can curl up and let go and be safe. They are my security, my blanket, my warm soft strength.

Playing with stereotypes is always fun - whether it be a gender trope, or simply the opportunity to subvert the expected! This week's favourites all very successfully play on perceptions.

Slipping them on HNT

I really love visiting second hand stores - there's something I find intensely pleasing about finding just the right thing I never knew I wanted, and at a good price too!

One of my best finds over the past few months has been a pair of red leather gloves. I spotted them under the counter at a St Vincent de Paul shop, and when I asked to try them on they fitted perfectly, and I knew I had to take them home with me!

They're tight at the wrist, needing to be wriggled into - but the elastic there keeps it snug against the vein. And the length of each finger is perfect, with no extra space at the end, and fitting comfortably against the webbing.

Wrong turn

I enjoy getting lost. Provided I have the time to spare and a map in the car, I always view getting lost as an adventure – I am perpetually entertained when I take a wrong turn and end up where I did not intend to be. It is exciting and interesting, not to mention a great way to discover new places and new experiences.

Last Thursday, Persephone and I managed to take a wrong turn on the way to the medical centre. I should know the way by now, having driven it a dozen times, but I still managed to get us thoroughly turned around! Following our noses down completely the wrong road, we found a gorgeous view looking out over the Tamaki Estuary, as well as a carpark next to the Tahuna Torea Nature Reserve.

That carpark would make a great making-out spot, we both agreed. And, having paused to look on a map and get our bearings, we headed off to her appointment.

Later that evening Adonis and I needed to run an errand over to St Heliers. It was a journey that would take us reasonably near to that same carpark, and I suggested that we pause there on our way back. To look at the view, of course (the view of the estuary in the dark being absolutely stunning. Ahem).

Funnily enough, I had no trouble finding my way back to the Reserve, and the carpark next to it. No wrong turns at all! We followed the road down the hill, with houses on the right all shiny and bright, while to our left was dark and sleepy bush. Ahead was the inky blackness of the water, with lights from houses on the far side sparkling.

I pulled the car in, cutting the engine so we were facing the darkness. There was light from a streetlamp nearby, and from the houses looming up the slope.

What does a couple do when parked, in a car, in the dark? Well, for starters there was admiration of the view. The view inside that car, that is – my breasts were rather rapidly freed from their black singlet, and as I lay back on my ratcheted-down seat they were thoroughly explored by hand and mouth. What was more interesting was what Adonis saw. Because as we pulled out and away he was looking at the house, and saw a long hallway window, also without blinds. Someone was pulling curtains across as we came past, and he saw a teenage girl turning away and going to join her family in the lounge.

He thinks she watched the whole thing. He thinks that, living over a carpark where it’s likely a lot of people go to make out, she’s been learning a thing or two watching from above. He thinks she really was watching, whether her mother was or not.

I hope she learned something. I know I did – I learned that getting lost leads to marvelous adventures indeed.

Keeping control

I need to be in control. Or at least to perceive that I am.

I cannot waver; cannot let myself feel it slipping. I only feel safe giving up my control when I know that I am passing it to someone I can trust. (I can give my control to you, for a time. But I cannot drop it otherwise.)

Still, how is it that I have fooled myself into thinking I have retained control, when all around me events are spiraling? It’s not so much that it’s slipped from my grasp, rather than it’s too large, too slick and slippery and fast for me to hold on to. I can see, finally, that I don’t have control and never did, and that I’ve just been pretending all along.

When I don’t have control, or rather, when I know I don't have control, I am frightened. No, more than that - I’m terrified. I clench my teeth and prevent myself from digging my nails into my palms, but it all comes out when I sleep. I dream of being overwhelmed.

Clouds thunder over my horizon. Mutant blooms cascade across meadows. Oceans tsunami over my hiding place, choking and drowning me. Not subtle, my subconscious.

I don’t have control. I never did. But I need to feel it, and without it all I want to do is howl and weep and rip my skin with my nails. Of course, if I were to howl and weep and rend then I would be admitting I don’t have control, and showing it. So I keep the only control I have – a tight grip on my desire to grieve for the loss of it.

Can I give up control to you, when I have none to give? Of course I can – but it is only giving you what you already have: my trust. My love. My need to submit to your desires. That you desire to hurt me as much as I desire to be hurt is a convenient thing for the both of us.

If you were truly a sadist I imagine that you wouldn’t hurt me, and thus hurt me in denying me that. But you give and take together, and we work out our issues and control and lack of same on my skin.

I hurt and whimper and howl and weep and feel the agony of no-control, the pain of overwhelming loss-to-come, the harshness of the world we inhabit.

I hurt, and I accept that I have no control. None of us do. Except for how we choose to cope with it.

I need to be in control. I need to learn that I am not in control. I need to live with it.

I need you to help me.

Ocean View HNT

Auckland is on an isthmus, which means that whichever direction I point the car, I pretty much end up at the water - usually within twenty minutes. It's rare, though, that I actually get out in the (Waitemata or Manukau) Harbour, or indeed into the wider (Hauraki) Gulf. So when Demeter offered to take me over to Waiheke Island for the day, I was happy to say yes!

We both took heaps of pictures on the ferry as we travelled over - those of you following me on twitter would have seen quite a few of them! But the real fun came when, after a gorgeous lunch, we tootled down to the isolated and very beautiful Rocky Bay.

Yes, of course I took my clothes off (even though it's the middle of winter). What an opportunity for amazing photos! Rocky Bay faces back across the Hauraki Gulf to Auckland city, but from this distance it's mostly water and boats and general serenity.

The two men working on a boat nearby got themselves an eyeful - but no one else came by the entire time we were there (and I had my clothes off for a good thirty minutes at least). Here's hoping they enjoyed the view!

Rich Treat HNT

It's always a treat to get new lingerie, and Rich Lingerie always has divine undergarments that I lust after - which is why I don't walk into the store very often! Luckily for me, when I visited a few weeks ago they were having a sale, so I felt justified in buying more than I would have otherwise.

I went in looking for just one thing: a new black bra. This is what I got instead:

Because black-and-red beats black every time! This lovely set is made by Ulla, a German company, and both looks and feels amazing. Not to mention I got it for less than half-price...

The bra came in two types: one had the sheer panels like the knickers have; while the other had black backing and really promoted cleavage. I went for the latter! The bra also has removable straps, and an option for a halter-neck strap. Not that I have any halter-neck tops, but still.

Now, these weren't the only items I purchased. But they came first, and I happen to be wearing them today (doesn't everyone put on pretty underwear just to make themselves feel good?), so I thought I'd show them off. What do you think?

As I've gotten more confident with photoshop, I've started to play with selective colour - and I've appreciated it more as I've seen it in the images others put up! This week both two images in particular really impressed me with both their sexiness and their contrasting colours.

Raunchy Review: Evolved Citron Florentine

The Citron Florentine, by Evolved, is a damned fine toy. And it's damned fine for a number of reasons - all of which come down to 'yum'!

Here are some of the reasons why:

1: It's a waterproof toy that's actually waterproof.

This pleases me more than you'd imagine. I've tried a number of supposedly waterproof toys - and they've either been a) waterproof but not very good at vibrating/getting me off; or b) not as waterproof as claimed, which does bad things to batteries. (Also occasionally c) not waterproof, and with crappy vibes. But cute to look at!)

The Evolved Citron Florentine is actually waterproof. I use it in the shower regularly, have immersed it in the bath more than a few times, and covered it in bubble bath for good measure. It's taken it all and kept on buzzing - the waterproof seal that keeps the battery compartment dry works exceptionally well. And, of course, I've ejaculated over it many a time - because that's just how I roll. It copes with that, too.

4: Let's get going with some good vibrations!

I'm a word-geek. I've always been one of those people who goes mental when words are consistently spelt incorrectly; apostrophes are in the wrong place; or people just don't know which word to use in the right place.

But there are some few words that it's taken me years to learn to spell correctly. I'll know that I have it wrong, but I can never remember how to get it right. In cases like that, dictionaries are my friend.

How is this related to HNT? Well, this month's parasol is a delicious fuschia colour - and fuschia is one of those words I get wrong (Blogger's spell check, incidentally, thinks it's spelt the other way - fuchsia).

So far as I have been able to ascertain, fuchsia is the botanical name, while fuschia is the colour (colour being the British and NZ spelling - color is the Americanization (as is the 'z' in Americanization, for that matter)). Nothing at all like the way I want to spell it - fiucha (which looks wrong as soon as I type it, so I know to go and look it up). And then, no matter which way you spell it, it's pronounced 'few-sha'!

You know, fuschia is a lovely colour, and it's a lovely word. But it's a bitch for me to get right. So I'll just twirl my parasol in the sunshine, and wonder if you can see through the diaphanous material to the skin behind it ...

Lessons from an Orgy

What you've been waiting to read, of course, is how Sunday's orgy was. And the short answer is: it was fantastic!

The medium answer is: Why in the hell haven't I done that before? Because I'm sure as hell doing that again.

I learned a lot of things from Sunday's orgy. And I've been mulling them - and discussing them with the participants - for the last few days, so I thought it was time to write some of them down.

Lesson 1: I should have done that a lot sooner
This was the first orgy I'd ever organised, as well as the first I'd ever participated in. It seems, through my various internet readings, that there are lot more spontaneous orgies than planned ones out there (please enlighten me if I am wrong), but I'd never partaken in one of those either.

Still, I really should have done this sooner.
