Hi!

It's been a while since my last newsletter. I'm sure I'm connected to most of you here on one of the many social networking services out there, but I'd just wanted to make sure that you are all aware of the NetTokyo 2008 event coming up this Saturday : www.nettokyo.jp.

As you know I started NetTokyo in 2005 with a few other community leaders as an event to bring together people from different networks for a fun afternoon of business networking. We are expecting around 400 people this year and are aiming for a 1000 person event buy 2010!

COST: 4000 yen in advance/5000 yen at the door. Includes food + one drink. 500 yen drink specials thereafter.
RSVP: HIGHLY appreciated so that we can plan for food. Attendance is limited to 500 people, so we encourage advance online registration & payment via the website

Would be great to catch up with many of you at the event.

On other matters, I'm sure any of you in the industry already know about the monthly www.tokyo2point0.net event which is now in it's 2nd year and attracting almost 100 people a month.

On the online front, I set up www.iphoneinjapan.com for sharing information about the phone almost everybody wants.

Finally I'm very excited about the progress we've been making at www.joblet.jp and we have some more exciting things in the pipeline so stay tuned. Check the site if you are looking to hire, know anyone looking for a job or need a revenue generating job board or widget for your web site.

Hello to all my friends and newsletter readers!

It's already March and spring is in the air but this is my first newsletter of 2008!

As many of you may have seen from my blog I was wondering whether to leave Japan and head to the US this year. Well 2008 just got off to a ROARING start and there is so much energy in Tokyo that I'll certainly be here for the time being. (More and more that looks like it means forever. I love it in Japan and there is no real reason to leave :-)

I'm now regularly co-organizing 2-3 events a month. The first is the free Pink Cow Conspiracy Event (next Wednesday) for small businesses and entrepreneurs (or anyone wanting to be).

The second is the Tokyo 2.0 event (next Tuesday) for internet professionals and anyone interested in the latest internet trends. There is an endless number of cool things happening in this space in Tokyo so we always have good speakers (with Japanese or English interpretation) and the event is growing every month with 50+ attendees.

Finally, I continue to be a geek at heart and follow my passion for smart phones and organize events for the Windows Mobile in Japan community.

Hard to believe that those are just done on a volunteer basis, but I enjoy it and love the great feedback from everyone.

As part of the CVP business, this year I'm also following my passion for the internet and the solutions it can provide and working with two very cool companies. One company will be launching their service for English speakers over the next few months so I'll save that for next time. The second company is Joblet - a no risk, results-driven job listing site and network - and is described below.

If you haven't already heard about it, check out details of tonight's Communication Nite and Biz Nite business networking event taking place tonight in Shibuya.

This week I'm off to Amsterdam for a few days for the Mobius Summit. Mobius is described as 'a group [of about 100 people] devoted to following and reporting on topics and news related to mobile devices and consumer electronics'. Approximately twice a year 25 or so of the members are invited to a summit to meet other members, hear from industry pundits and talk and brainstorm on mobile technology. I'm lucky to be invited and it's sure two be a lot of fun talking tech for two full days.

Back in Tokyo, there are lots of events coming up in December. See below for details of some including the Video Blogging Night with a chance to win one of two Xacti digital video cameras.

If you are free this evening drop by Stereo Japan in Roppongi for the Ad Night and Success Night where my friend Gary Bremerman nwil be presenting.

The main purpose of this earlier than normal newsletter is to give you a heads up about a workshop I'm giving on the this Sunday November 4th (see the right hand pane below) and also give you lots of advance notice about the really great speakers planned for the next Pink Cow Conspiracy and Tokyo2Point0 events (detailed below).

If you are aged 21-45 and have ever bought anything using a mobile phone and are interested in a opportunity to be interviewed (in English) about m-commerce for a video podcast in November drop a note to Marie Lena Tupot (marielena@scenariodna.com or Skype:scenariodna) with 'Tokyo Video Podcast' in the subject.

Finally if you are not a member of the American Chamber of Commerce note that during October and November their is an initiation fee (15,000 yen) waiver for new and additional members. The end of November is also the deadline to ensure you or your company is listed in the membership directory for 2008.
