In the Philippines, Team AutoCraft is one of the most well-known teams in the world of Drifting. With numerous wins in their bag, they’ve become a spectacle to look out for.

This year, they’ve got onlookers at them again, with the new wheel fitment style they’re showcasing on their drift cars. If the “Hellaflush” trend has been making its waves here in the Philippines, then they’re defying all odds poking at it with some “Mexiflush“.

Mexi what!? Ok let’s define what it means: Mexiflush is when the wheels are simply too wide for the wheel arches that they poke out beyond the fenders. Both the wheels and tires poke out.

Some say inspiration came from the hotrods of the old days, or from 4×4 offroaders. But what I think is that the term “Mexi” was because of those Mexican lowrider cars on hydraulic suspension. Whatever it may be, the Mexiflush fitment gives a car a whole new image. Looks like you can get tons of grip with all that big fat rubber! But then the question is, will this will actually be functional on a drift car? Or is it more for form than function? Let’s find out! Read on…

The latest iteration of AutoCraft Team Principal Audel Sison’s (a.k.a. Dr. Drift) Toyota 1JZ-powered Nissan S13 Silvia named “Jawbone”. Why? Check out that front bumper and tell me if that doesn’t look like a jawbone.

“Jawbone” just screams with attitude, thanks in part to that banged-up exterior. This is, after all, a purpose-built drift car. And yes, you need a massive engine to burn all that rubber. Ever wonder if the tires mess up the fenders when it’s going full tilt while drifting? More on that later. Read on.

Norman Agojo’s Nissan S15 Silvia named “Slingshot”. Powered by 2JZ engine no $#!+! Both Slingshot and Jawbone are already sporting wide body kits, yet the wheels still poke way beyond the fenders showing off that big fat rubber. Nothing that 2JZ can’t handle!

Tin Tin David’s Nissan 350Z. Ok it’s not really poking and is closer to Hellaflush than Mexi (Hellaflush definition here), I just wanted to post this coz it was reppin’ AutoCraft. Matte black and camo is the theme. What do you think of it guys?

Anyways, going back to Mexiflush fitment, Norman Agojo’s Mazda RX-7 looks aggressive in every way!

For those who haven’t seen one in person, the RX-7 is quite a small car. But the massive wheels on Mexiflush fitment give it a huge presence. Quite unique as well since most tuned RX-7′s usually have a ground-hugging appearance, while this rendition favors track width over extremely low ride height.

Ok, now to answer the question: "Is Mexiflush Functional on a Drift Car?", or is it form over function?

It seems the boys at AUTOCRAFT have pulled it off well. Their formula seems to be Gobs of Engine Power plus Large Tire Contact Patch plus the Right Driver equals More Tire Smoke and a Better Show.

Honestly, when I first saw the Honda Civic EF Sedan way back in my younger years, I thought it was an ugly car. Whilst I loved the EF Hatchback, which was my dream car back then, I used to despise the EF Sedan as much as I loved the Hatchback. But I guess there was something I missed back then – one crucial factor that makes or breaks your love for a certain “species” of cars. And that crucial factor is known as “car customization”.

It seems there’s a secret recipe to making an EF Sedan look good, and that’s dropping it to the floor. Boy did that change my perspective on EF Sedans. With my new-found respect, I’ve grown to love these EF Sedans, to the point I even wished I owned one for just one simple reason – to scrape the floor.

So when Garage C rolled in to the StreetWise Auto Show in this teal Honda Civic EF Sedan, I’ve taken notice. It looks awesome! Check out the rest of the gallery below to see what I mean…

I personally think that this would look even cooler with some spacers to bring the wheels flush to the fender, and some narrower tires for a good stretch. I hope they do that! That would make this car even more drool-worthy. What do you guys think?

Shot during the 2012 StreetWise Auto Show at SM Center Las Pinas, Manila, Philippines. We spotted this cute baby girl, who was still wearing diapers under that attire, mind you, doing a dance showdown against this completely modified Honda Civic EG Hatchback bouncing on its custom hydraulic suspension, while music was blaring from its badass sound system.

I think old-school car enthusiasts of any age will agree with me when I say that nothing says “Pinoy Classic Car” more than the Mitsubishi Lancer Boxtype. While the rest of the world have been into restoring AE86 Toyota Corollas, then Pinoys have been into restoring these Boxtype Mitsubishi Lancers. I think this was due to the fact that this particular Lancer was made available here in the Philippines, while the AE86 was not.

Nevertheless, this is something that distinguishes us Pinoys from the rest of the world, and something that brings Pinoy car enthusiasts together across the globe. This car will always and forever be the Pinoy Classic Car.

Valued at roughly around Php 40 Million, the Lexus LFA that you’ll find in the Lexus Manila showroom is undoubtedly the most expensive car I’ve done a photoshoot of to date. It’s an epic car indeed, literally, as this is the last car developed with the help of Toyota’s chief test driver – Hiromu Naruse, the “Godfather of the LFA”, who died while testing the Lexus LFA Nurburgring Edition back in 2010.

The recently concluded StreetWise Auto Show held last May 12, 2012 at the front parking lot of SM Center Las Pinas, reminded me of car club meets where you do some hard parking, then chat with like-minded car enthusiasts. The ambiance was more like that than an it was an actual competition, which to me, was really good!

And Custom Pinoy Rides, being a media sponsor of the event, was able to do some awesome coverage with the “Car Photobooth” that we’ve set up. So Philip Aragones and I set out to work that day, and we’ve taken a photo of just about every car in this event. Rest assured that car spotlights will be coming showcasing some notable cars. Just when I thought that a Hachi-Roku couldn’t look any better, I came across this stunning AE86 Trueno Coupe by Toycool Garage. Instead of the traditional panda black and white that you’d usually see on just about every other AE86 in the planet, this example was done up in blue and black, giving it an attention-grabbing aura.

I can clearly see why they left the headlights up. Check out the projector lamps!
