A cute Noah's Ark Card

I was commissioned to crochet a Noah's Ark blanket

and wanted to make a card to go with it.

That way the client has a themed card to write on and put with the gift.

I saw the card here and used their template that you can download on that page to

make it MTC friendly. It turned out really cute!

I used the lion and tiger

instead of the elephant and monkey. So, if you want those you'll have to

make them MTC friendly yourself.

My Craft Room Revisited

My Updated Craft Room

I hope everyones new year is off to a great start! I updated and re-arranged my craft room a couple of months ago and am just now finding the time to share with you. Michael's Arts and Crafts had a 50% off sale of the white Jetmax storage cubes and so I took advantage and got some of those. I really like them and although I've filled some of them I still have many that are empty so I'll definitely have space for new stuff! My sweet husband got me all of the Jetmax shelving and the roll cart at the door.

The best part of the update, was getting a huge monitor so that when I use Make the Cut (MTC) I'll be able to see what I'm doing. I bought this monitor from my mom and then purchased a holder so that it attaches to the table but keeps it up off of the table so it takes up no table space. I have a small little netbook and now I just keep it closed underneath my table and use this second monitor as it's monitor. Works wonderfully! I just use a cordless mouse and purchased a little cordless keyboard for those times I need to type something in MTC.

Also, when my son visited home for Christmas he fixed my internet connection back in my craft room. For some reason it wouldn't work wireless or even when I hooked it up with a direct cable. Justin figured it out and now I have internet which is useful when using the Lettering Delights ART function within MTC! Plus, I was taking my Maxtor drive back and forth from my craft room to my main pc in another room when updating my cut files. Now, I can just get them directly from the other pc or online at Dropbox or Box or SugarSync!

Although I use this room mainly for scrappin', I also knit and crochet. So, the room has a yarn closet and fiber goodness here and there. You'll notice these huge fabric yarn balls in the middle of the room as I have just started crocheting these fabulous crocheted rugs using these fabric strips. They are so soft to stand on barefoot and are one of my favorite fiber projects.

I just wanted to say "Thank You" to those of you that have followed this blog this past year and to wish you a very Happy New Year! I haven't posted here on a regular basis, but hope to do better in the coming new year! I truly love scrappin' and cutting on my Black Cat Cougar, but I also love knitting and crochet! I tend to go back and forth between my crafting loves! I still use and love MTC and the updates to MTC just keep coming that I find it hard to keep up. LOL
I'm looking forward to sharing more projects with you in the coming year~!

Stationary Box

I saw this box awhile back here at this blog and had been wanting to make it. So, with the Christmas in July crop going on at the Black Cat USA forum, it was the perfect opportunity to get it done. When I first saw the box on Dannie's blog my immediate thought was to make it Make the Cut friendly. I've had the MTC file ready to go and so the only thing left to do was make it!

One of the things I changed was to make the lid look like a roof and to place a house facade on the front of the box. This turned my box into a little house hiding stationary goodies inside. I replaced the note pad with a tiny 2012 calendar that I printed and cut from here.

For the tags I made 12 using the #14 tag from the Basic Tags set from Lettering Delights and printed out the 12 days of Christmas from this file, cut them apart and adhered them to each tag. You can download my MTC file below. All files and links included in MTC file!

Sharing some Projects from Bundle of Joy

I love SVGcuts and I love this cute Bundle of Joy SVG set!

I'm planning on using these as holders for my knitted baby washcloths that I will give as gifts. I put one in the baby buggy and let it hang over the edge to look like a baby blanket! Too cute! For gift giving 2 baby washcloths fit well in the baby buggy. I didn't get pictures of the rocking horse with the washcloths in them as they were not completely dry when I took the photos. I think 2 will fit nicely in the rocking horse as well.

I embossed certain parts of each project which I think gave it that extra oomph! I also added stickles and a light misting of a clear glitter spray on each of the rocking horses. I used my distressed tea ink pad to distress the edges of all the rocking horses. A little extra trouble but well worth it. Last I tied a cute bow using some Bakers Twine that I recently purchased from this great etsy seller.

Manhattan Roses my Way

They are called "Manhattan Roses". It's a sizzix folder, but I didn't want to order it and have to wait!
So, I pixel traced the image from a website using MTC and saved it as an svg. Then I opened it in SCAL2 to close the open petal edges using the edit nodes feature. I then saved it as an svg and opened it again in MTC to cut with my Black Cat cougar.

I cut 4 pieces of just regular card stock and adhered them on top of each other. Then I used my Big Shot to emboss the image. I used the de-bossed side and using a brayer and 3 colors of ink, I brayered on the colors starting with the lightest and ending with the darkest. I used a portion of the 12 x 12 sheet that I had cut from to use as a mask so I would only get ink on the roses. Then I stamped a message on the outside, spritzed a clear sparkle mist on all and put tiny dots of diamond stickles around the edges. I popped up the image with pop dots before adhering to the front of the 5" by 7" card. I hope this inspires you to give this technique a try!

New Forum Home

Just a quick post to let you all know about a new forum where you can get help, chat and generally feel welcome to talk about any cutter or cutting program you use!

Black Cat USA Forum

In the past week or so, I've seen things happening on the MTC forum that I just don't agree with. It disappoints me that a place I loved checking into on a daily basis, now makes me feel unwelcome. I haven't been posting hardly at all there for fear of saying something **** or *** doesn't like for fear they will ban me too!

When a forum starts banning, deleting entire threads, ignoring post and causing certain post NOT to go to the top of the list...it's just wrong! You also used to could see who was on without signing in, now you can't. Now if you post to certain threads they won't be put to the top?

I still LOVE my MTC program and will continue to use it, but I fear support for the cutter I use which is the Black Cat Cougar will soon cease to exist. Many have asked certain Black Cat cutter questions put to **** and they are ignored. I don't feel I can ask for help with my cougar anymore over there.

I've shared much there and helped many and call many friends that I met while there. Many have already moved over to the new forum and many others are just now having the wool pulled off their eyes. Many others will soon have their eyes opened and many others will choose to ignore what's been going on there and choose to blindly follow.

I'll still check in from time to time there, but for me the new forum will be my new go to place for inspiration, sharing and helping others and getting help.

Happy Ladies with their Starbucks Cups!

My dear friend Rose saw my Starbucks cup that I made for myself and showed it to her co-workers. She called and said if I could make them that they would like one. So, I headed out to Michael's to get the cups on Friday and had them made by that afternoon. Well, Rose emailed me this morning to say that they all loved their cups and she sent me this photo! Here they are showing them off!

I have had so many emails/comments asking how to curve the name that I've decided to address this here. The MTC file and SVG file download above only has the logo without the name added. You have to add the name yourself.

NO I do not have a video showing how to do this and NO I can't explain how to do this as the procedure is different depending upon what program you are using.
I used MTC (Make the Cut) and the process of curving the name is very easy once you know how. You can visit the MTC forum for help with doing this and I'm sure you'll find someone that has time to explain it or point you to a tutorial to do it.

If you still just can't figure it out or don't want to do it yourself, then YES I will curve the name for you and add it to the logo! However, I do charge for my time to curve it for you! I will curve the name and then send you the SVG file with YOUR name on the logo so that you can then cut it with your cutter. I charge $5 for the first name and $3 for any name after that as long as you pay in one transaction. I am NOT charging for the logo! I'm charging you to curve your name.

My first ever ATC swap!

So, what is an ATC?

It stands for Artist Trading Card. They are always 2 1/2" by 3 1/2" and are always traded. Just about anything goes otherwise. I've enjoyed finding out more about them and the one thing that everyone says, is once you start making them you'll become addicted. This is so true! I have had so much fun putting these together and wanted to share them with you.

Zenita on the MTC forum is the one that organized this swap. It was so popular she had to make a second group of 12 and that is the group I'm in. The theme was Spring and so I thought flowers and birds. I did search around on the web for idea's and saw a card very similar to this and so that is what I decided to do for mine. Although we didn't have to use our cutter's I decided to use my cougar and MTC for most of my elements since this was a swap in the MTC forum. I admit my old (crapcut) could have never cut these tiny little flowers!

I used a heavier watercolor card stock for the base and vellum for the layer above that. I used lots of Stickles glitter glue and my glaze pens to give certain parts their shine. I took apart an old chain for the top of the birdcage and attached it with a small brad in the corner. I popped up the limb and bird with pop dots to give it more dimension. At the bottom I added a small button over some tissue paper confetti strips and last I added a touch of scent with my card scents so they also smell fabulous! The last thing to do was slide each into it's own protective sleeve. Even though mine are slightly 3D they went in easily. I got the sleeves at Hobby Lobby where the baseball card hobby area is. That is actually what they are.

My Starbucks Coffee Cup

I have been wanting to make me one of these ever since I saw them on the MTC forum. Well I finally ordered my green vinyl on etsy and it came today. So, I went in my craft room tonight and thought I'd at least get the vinyl cut. Well, this was the easiest vinyl project ever! It cut like a charm on my Black Cat cougar and the weeding was easy. The only problem was the nose. It just disappeared never to be found? So, I used the right eye for the nose...worked perfectly!

So, what do you think?

Hinge Top Card Times Two!

I had so much fun making these cards! This type of card is called a Hinged card and they have been around for sometime and are very easy to make. Especially when we have MTC to cut all of the parts. Anyway, on the pink one I did embellish the top and shadow of the bottom section using a punch I had and then I used that same punch to cut the corners for the pop up deco front piece. I then finished it off by putting a flower on the front using pop dots underneath.

The second one I made using only the head and tail of the lion in the Lettering Delights SVG set called Animal Boxes and Bags. He turned out so cute! For this one you assemble the top hinge to swing down over the front instead of inside like the first one. This is why I added the heart inside so that the top would have something to sit on. I give more instructions in the MTC file. The MTC file has the main components and parts to the main card plus I added the lion base card piece and the lion bottom front section. You will have to add the lion head part yourself but it's very easy to do as you only need to size the head to fit the bottom portion of your card. Then just cut and layer him as you would normally. So if you don't already have the Animal Boxes and Bags svg set, head on over to Lettering Delights using my links in this post so I will get credit for your purchase! It will really help to fund my scrappin' obsession so I can keep offering files here to share! So a HUGE Thank you in advance!

Valentine Conversation Note Cards with Box

Valentines Day is tomorrow and so I got in one more project for the heart day!
These adorable little note cards are fashioned after the popular Valentine candy and are quick and easy to make.

I used the DB Be Mine Hearts doodlebat font from Lettering Delights and used MTC to turn them into note cards. Be sure to pick up that doodlebat font before the sale ends tomorrow!

Heartstrings Valentine Card

I wanted to share another file with you today! I saw this on one of the blogs I follow and had to make it MTC friendly. I found that this idea was also shared on the Martha Stewart show. I've included a link to those instructions in the MTC file and instructions on how to make the card.

This is the card that I made for my hubby! I also used the spiral heart generator at www.festisite.com to write him a message and I adhered that to the back. His is the red one and then I made another using pink card stock and a clear vinyl front. I love how you pull the center string to reveal the message underneath! I've included 3 different heart styles and envelopes to match in the MTC file. Enjoy!

Saturday Share - Tulip Gum Bouquet

Hi everyone! I have a fun project for today's Saturday Share.

Each one of these tulips has a slit so that you can slip a piece of gum through it and then they are attached to a plastic straw and placed in a container with styrofoam in the bottom to hold them. This is a photo of the one that Lindacrew4 made on the MTC forum, isn't it pretty!

This would be perfect to brighten anyone's day! She also used the "Frogs and Kisses Gum Wrappers" from Lettering Delights which are perfect for this Valentines Day Bouquet.

A Stick of Gum and a Frog Valentine too!

I made these cute Valentine Cards using a card template that I made and the Lettering Delights

"Frogs and Kisses" SVG set + I used their free "Frogs and Kisses Gum Wrappers" to wrap up my gum.

I used the SVG's for Print and Cut with MTC for the frogs and sayings and then decorated them using my Sakura Glaze Pens and Stickles. I added wiggly eyes and some heart puff stickers and I popped up each frog with pop dots and then made my own wobbles for the sayings using 1" circles cut from card stock, 26 gauge wire and scotch tape. Here is a link to a you tube video showing how to make wobbles. Then I wrapped a stick of gum and slid it into the slit pocket on the front of the card!

I've also included an envelope in the MTC file to perfectly fit your Frog's and Kisses Valentine Cards.
