Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here. Did you make a Father’s Day card this year? I wanted to share a fun card idea for all of the dads working in the corporate world. This design features a black suit that is perfect for a Father’s Day card, but it can easily be changed into a wedding card for the groom as well. Let’s make a simple suit and tie card for Father’s Day!

Step 1

Trim a piece of Stardream Metallic 5 x 7 Onyx cardstock to 4 ¼’’ x 5 ½’’. Then, center the “V” shaped die from Stampin’ Up’s Suit and Tie set to create the suit opening. On a different piece of Stardream Metallic 5 x 7 Onyx cardstock, die cut the lapels of the suit jacket. 

Step 2

Adhere thin strips of double sided tape to the back of the die cut. You could apply adhesive to the entire backing, but I wanted to leave the edges adhesive-free so that I can curl the edges of the die cut. This would add a more dimensional look to our suit. I love the subtle shine of the Stardream Metallic cardstock – it mimics the sheen of suit fabrics so well. 

Step 3

Next, die cut the shirt collar with Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. For the skin, I used Environment Desert Storm cardstock. 

Step 4

Finally, pick a piece of patterned paper to die cut the tie. I chose this geometric print from the Chalkboard Prints 6×6 card stock pad. 

Step 5

Adhere all of the die cut pieces together and this suit and tie card for Father’s Day is complete! I adhered the tie underneath the shirt collar first, then I glued both pieces to a piece of Classic Crest Solar White cardstock. After that, I lined up the black suit with the white cardstock and stuck it both together. I hope you enjoyed this quick and fun tutorial!

Setting the scene

Shall we begin with the vibrant door? I diecut an arch from Pop Tone Lemon Drop cardstock, then embossed it with a wood plank embossing folder. In addition, I sponged the edges with Catherine Pooler Tiara ink to give it visual depth.

Next, I created a stone arch and doorstep with DCS Discount Sand Castle Tan cardstock and a Tim Holtz Alterations embossing folder. Again, I lightly shaded this with Catherine Pooler ink.

The touring bike

Although in my head the bicycle is red in my dream Italian vacation, I chose a subtler palette here. Instead, I used Pop Tone Sno Cone cardstock for the frame. To complete the bicycle, I reached for Pop Tone Black Licorice, Cougar White, Bright Foil Silver and CCS Silver Glitter cardstocks.

Obviously, I had to add a cute Cougar White cardstock pup, backed by a scrap of Pop Tone Gumdrop Green cardstock. Furthermore, I sprinkled a few DSC Discount Raspberry Ice cardstock flowers in the basket for a spot of color. I added a swag of flowers above the door as well. I imagine them to be heavenly-scented wisteria.

To create balance, I embossed the sentiment in white on Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock and placed it diagonally from the touring bike.

When you are creating a card with a clean yet colorful design, choosing papers with the right weight and finish makes all the difference. I brought in a striking variety of shades from CutCardStock to capture that retro pop art feel. I selected Beetle Black for its deep, graphic contrast with Red, Blue Calico, and Yellow. For the hot foiled background, I relied on the ultra-smooth surface of Heavy Recycled Conservation White 110 lb cover, and I put everything together on a super sturdy base made from Classic CREST Smooth 130 lb. This brilliant selection of papers provides the perfect foundation for a high-energy card layout.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Die Cutting the Lightbulb Pieces

I started by cutting out all my focal elements using the Trinity Stamps Thanks a Watt die set. I cut the main bulb base and script words from Beetle Black, the shadow layer and bulb backing from Blue Calico, the inner glowing layer from Astrobright Yellow, and the small heart from DCS Red. Having all these vibrant pieces cut out and ready to go makes the assembly process incredibly smooth.

2. Hot Foiling the Background Burst

Next, I pulled out my Glimmer Hot Foil Machine and paired it with the Trinity Stamps Time Warp plate. I foiled a brilliant gold burst over a panel of Heavy Recycled Conservation White 110 lb cover. The smooth finish of this cardstock is absolute perfection for heat foiling, capturing every single ray of the starburst flawlessly.

3. Constructing the Comic Background

To really lean into that classic comic book layout, I trimmed both my foiled starburst panel and a piece of DCS Red cardstock down to about 3/4 size after using a postage-edge rectangle die. To finish the background and mimic retro printing press textures, I ink-blended some red stenciled dots on one side of the burst to look like vintage Ben-Day dots.

4. Building the Lightbulb Focal Point

Next, I glued all the die-cut lightbulb pieces together. Design Tip: To make the red heart pop against the bright yellow glow, I added a small piece of vellum directly behind the heart. It softens the yellow just enough to give the heart extra separation! I added some foam tape to the back of the completed bulb for a bit of dimension.

5. Final Assembly

I attached the pieced background to my Beetle Black A2 panel, then mounted the lightbulb and the “Thanks a Watt” sentiment across the center. Finally, I glued the entire finished panel onto an A2 card base made from Classic CREST Smooth 130 lb. To complete the look, I scattered a few red gems around the design for some extra sparkle and shine.

There is such a great glossy surface when using this cardstock!

Create the Inked Kromekote Background

Cut 12 pt/250gsm Kromekote Cardstock to 4 x 5 1/4 inches. Place the glossy side facing the debossed side of your chosen embossing folder. Run through your die cutting machine with the coordinating plates. The embossed design should be debossed. This will allow the addition of colors using Distress Inks.

Lay the panel on your craft mat with the positive embossed side facing the mat. Using a small finger dauber, ink blend the lighter color into the debossed areas in small sections. Once you complete a small section, use a craft towel to rub over the area removing excess inks. Continue until the entire base is covered. I used Shaded Lilac as my first color and Uncharted Mariner as the second. Using the entire ink pad, rub a darker color over the entire flat background in small sections at a time, rubbing with the towel as you go.

Prepare the Card Layers

Cut Textured Plum Purple Cardstock to 4 1/8 x 5 3/8 inches. This allows a 1/8 inch border. Glue the embossed base to the purple panel. I find that liquid glue versus tape runners allows for better adhesion.

Create your card base with Cougar 110 lb. White Cardstock. I create my own card bases by cutting the 8.5 x 11 sheets and scoring them. Attach the purple panel to the cardbase.

Die cut the sentiment of your choice using Cougar White Cardstock. I like large sentiments. This Happy Birthday Die is from Lawn Fawn. Die cut 2 or 3 sentiments and stack them by gluing them together.

Finish the Card

Glue the sentiment to the center of the embossed panel. Set an acrylic block on top and allow to dry.

Once dry choose a purple Distress Mica Spray and Splatter dots over the top for interest!

Adding Layers & Texture

Creating layered and textured cards is really easy. Let me show you how! This card has multiple layers on the base – Cougar White Cardstock, Pop Tone Pink Lemonade and DCS Textured Plum Cardstock. To give the card base additional texture, I used an embossing folder on the DCS Textured Plum Cardstock layer. Using embossing folders is a great way to add texture. There are lots of embossing folders out there and they seem to be making a come-back. For this card, I chose one with repetitive dotted circles which adds subtle elegance.

Finishing Touches

To add even more layers and textures, I cut several flowers from the same cardstock used on the card base. Layers of Pop Tone Pink Lemonade and DCS Textured Plum Cardstock created the prettiest flowers for this card front. I cut all the stems from Jellybean Green Cardstock. With each flower added, more and more layers and textures appear. A few sprinkles and splatters of paint were the finishing touch. Do you like to use sprinkles and splatters on your projects? Why I Chose These CutCardStock Papers

One of my favorite parts of creating a card is selecting the color palette. For this project, I searched through my collection of CutCardStock papers to find colors that felt perfect for a summer wedding.

I chose Indigo Blue DCS Discount Card Stock to add a rich pop of color instead of relying on traditional black or gray accents. The combination of Fruit Punch Pink DCS Discount Card Stock and Pink Lemonade Pop Tone Cardstock adds a touch of romance while keeping the design bright and cheerful.

For the base, I used Cougar White Smooth CardStock 110 lbs because it creates a sturdy card foundation. The embossed layers and stamped images were created with Cougar White Smooth CardStock 80 lbs, which embosses beautifully and provides a smooth surface for crisp stamped impressions.

Create the Card Base

Begin by cutting a piece of Cougar White Smooth CardStock 110 lbs to 4 1/4″ x 11″. Score the cardstock at 5 1/2″ and fold it in half to create a top-folding A2 card base.

Add Texture with Dry Embossing

Cut a piece of Cougar White Smooth CardStock 80 lbs to 4″ x 5 1/4″. Emboss the panel using a lace-patterned 3D embossing folder. The detailed texture adds elegance and helps create a wedding-themed background.

Mat the embossed panel onto a piece of Indigo Blue DCS Discount Card Stock cut to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″. Adhere the completed panel to the card front.

Creative Tip: Embossed white cardstock instantly adds interest without overwhelming your focal image. It’s an easy way to create dimension while keeping the design elegant.

Create the Layered Focal Point

Stamp the wedding bell image onto Cougar White Smooth CardStock 80 lbs using navy ink. Trim the panel and mat it onto Pink Lemonade Pop Tone Cardstock cut slightly larger than the stamped image.

Next, stamp the same image onto a panel of Indigo Blue DCS Discount Card Stock using the same navy ink. Mat this layer with Pink Lemonade Pop Tone Cardstock and adhere it to the card front.

Add the smaller stamped focal panel on top to create a layered design with depth and dimension.

Finish with Die Cuts and Embellishments

Die cut the floral heart layer from Pink Lemonade Pop Tone Cardstock and the solid heart layer from Fruit Punch Pink DCS Discount Card Stock. Layer the pieces together and attach them to the card front.

Stamp the congratulations sentiment onto a scrap of Cougar White Smooth CardStock 80 lbs using navy ink. Die cut the sentiment and adhere it across the heart.

Finish the card with a few rhinestones for sparkle and shine.

I love how this project combines products from my stash with beautiful cardstock from CutCardStock. The blue and pink color combination feels fresh and modern while still capturing the romance of a wedding celebration.

Step 1: Create the Card Base

Start with a 5 x 6 1/2 in card base using Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.

Cut layering panels:

• Bright Foil Gold 10 pt Cardstock 4 7/8 x 6 3/8 inches

Step 2: Create the Decorative Center Panel

Emboss a piece of Curious Translucent Clear 65lb Cardstock using your favorite swirl embossing folder. The embossed texture adds elegance while keeping the design clean and sophisticated.

Cut a rectangular frame out of Stardream Metallic Azalea Cardstock.

Adhere the embossed panel to the backside of the frame. Add the layering panels to the card base.

Step 3: Die Cut the Gold Frame

Using Bright Foil Gold 10 pt Cardstock, die cut a decorative frame.

The reflective gold finish creates a luxurious focal point and beautifully frames the embossed background.

Adhere the frame over the embossed panel using liquid adhesive. Add to card.

Step 4: Create the Layered Flower

Die cut flower pieces from Lessebo Blossom Pink Cardstock, DCS Vanilla Bean Brown and Lessebo Taupe Cardstock. The leaves are cut from Lessebo Moss Green Cardstock.

Add a little ink to the flower petals before assembling.

Step 5: Assemble the Floral Cluster

Arrange the flower and leaves in the lower left corner of the card.

Once you’re happy with the placement, adhere the leaves first and then attach the flower using foam adhesive for extra dimension.

The large floral cluster balances the framed center panel while drawing the eye toward the sentiment.

Step 6: Add the Sentiment

Die cut the sentiment from Stardream Metallic Azalea Cardstock. Cut the shadow out of Classic Linen Solar White Cardstock and layer.

Attach the sentiment across the center of the framed panel using foam adhesive.

This raised sentiment creates depth while standing out beautifully against the embossed background.

The combination of the dark pink, crisp white layers, elegant gold cardstock, and soft pink florals creates a timeless card suitable for many celebrations. The embossed background adds texture without overwhelming the design, allowing the flower and sentiment to remain the stars of the card.

Step 1: Gather Supplies & Plan Color Palette

Start by gathering all cardstock and dies so you can see your full color story before cutting anything. This helps establish how the deep navy, rich purples, and bright yellow accents will work together in the final design.

At this stage, focus on balance—where you want contrast, and where softer transitions will help guide the eye across the card.

Step 2: Die Cut Hydrangea Pieces

Die cut all hydrangea elements from your cardstock. Once everything is cut, spread the pieces out and loosely group them into floral shapes.

This step is helpful for visual planning—it allows you to “pre-build” the flowers before committing to adhesive, making it easier to adjust placement later.

Step 3: Stamp the Leaf Image

Stamp the leaf outline image onto Crest Solar White cardstock using your leaf stamp set.

Step 4: Color the Leaves

Color the stamped leaves using Altenew Alcohol Markers in the Green Fields collection. Start with a light base layer, then build mid and darker greens to add depth and shape.

This layered coloring helps create dimension even before the leaves are added to the card.

Step 5: Begin Floral Assembly

Begin building the floral panel using the hydrangea die set and the letter guide from the stamp set to place each petal in the correct position. Alternate between Wild Blueberry and Grape Jelly petals as you assemble each flower to create natural variation and depth in the blooms.

Continue layering the pieces according to the guide until each hydrangea cluster is formed.

Step 6: Complete Floral Arrangement

Continue building and adhering the hydrangea pieces until each floral cluster is fully formed. The alternating Wild Blueberry and Grape Jelly petals create natural depth and variation throughout the blooms, while the Yellow Jacket centers add contrast and definition to each flower.

Once all pieces are adhered, the floral arrangement should feel balanced, layered, and dimensional across the panel.

Step 7: Add Ink-Blended Edges

Lightly blend soft lilac ink around the edges of the panel using Distress Oxide inks. The goal is subtle framing—not overpowering color.

This step softens the white space and helps draw focus toward the floral arrangement.

Step 8: Assemble Final Card

Adhere the finished floral panel onto a Wild Blueberry mat layer, then mount everything onto a Classic Crest Solar White A2 card base.

Add a heat-embossed sentiment strip in white on black cardstock, placing it on the bottom right of the card, slightly over the leaves. This placement helps anchor the design while keeping the florals as the focal point.

Finish with a few clear embellishments for shine and final dimension.

Final Thoughts

This card really shows how versatile CutCardStock cardstock is for layered, dimensional designs. The mix of Wild Blueberry, Grape Jelly, Yellow Jacket, and Crest Solar White creates strong contrast while still working together as a cohesive palette.

With just cardstock, stamping, and die cuts, you can build depth and interest without needing overly complex techniques.

Bouquet Box Cuts

First, start with two 8.5″ by 11″ sheets of Cougar White 110lb. Cardstock. I like this cardstock for the sturdiness it provides with box-making. Cut the first sheet at 5.5″ by 10.5″. Cut the second sheet at 5.5″ by 9.5″. One panel becomes the back and bottom and the other is the front and sides.

Score the first sheet at .5″ and 2.5″. Score the second sheet at .5″, 2.5″, 8″ and 10″.

Next, lay out the sheets as shown in the photo. The first sheet, with the score lines on the bottom, will be cut from the center (2.75″) down on either side in a diagonal. Aim for 2″ down on each side. Additionally, you can mark that spot with a pencil if needed. Cut corner tabs on all areas scored at the .5″ marks.

Now take your first sheet and mark a center spot with a pencil at the tip of the “envelope” on your second sheet to find the similar center point. It helps to think of this as an envelope, similar to where the flap would intersect. Cut an inverse V-shape on this panel.

Box Assembly

It’s time to assemble the bouquet box! First fold in on all score lines, then lay the second sheet on the edge of the first one, using the side tab and the bottom fold as your alignment spot. Glue into place with your favorite adhesive. Wait until this is secure and dry.

Next, fold the second sheet over and adhere the tab to the other side. Also, to confirm that your box isn’t crooked, be sure to line up the bottom with the bottom fold line. Again wait until the glue is dry.

Finally, glue the tab on the bottom of the box to the inside front panel. This is optional if you’d prefer to allow the box to fold flat. However, if you are giving it away with items inside, I suggest you glue it in.

Decorating Your Bouquet Box

What gives this envelope box its design is the extra panel layers on the outside. The great news is because this is an A2 sized box, all of your cuts will be similar to what you’d use for a standard card. First, start with a contrasting cardstock. I’ve chosen Curious Metallic Electric Blue, which is currently sold out; however, another great choice would be Stardream Metallic Sapphire. Cut a 4″ by 5.25″ panel in this and then cut it from corner to corner at a diagonal. Apply three of the pieces to the front. Additionally, if you have A2 stitched dies like mine, you can use these as well.

Next, cut two pieces for the sides at 1.75″ by 3.75″ and apply with adhesive. Then, choose your favorite patterned paper for the background and cut two pieces at 5.25″ by 6.75″. Note: all cuts are .25″ smaller than the box. Cut at the diagonal for both patterned sheets at 1.75″ down from either side. Then apply one panel to the inside back, and one to the outside back.

Now, cut a bow from any dies in your stash with Pop Tone Banana Split cardstock. I actually used two different bows and glued one on top, bending the edges in for dimension. Attach to the corner of the front of the box along with fun ephemera pieces, like these adorable lemons.

Continue decorating to your heart’s content! I then filled the box with color-coordinated items like a small perfume, flower sprigs and a small journal. These boxes are so sturdy – you can fill them with many things! I’ve seen stuffed animals and candy on sticks, real flowers with a small vase and more.

This box is sure to cheer someone up – or say “Welcome to summer!” This would be a great end of year teacher gift in fact. I recommend searching on Pinterest for bouquet box because the ideas are endless. Then, add your favorite CutCardStock papers and voila – instant fun. Instructions

Create the Card Base

Start with a white A2 card base. Trim a panel of Neutral Twine Kraft Cardstock slightly smaller than the card front and die cut it using a scalloped rectangle die. Adhere the panel to the card base.

Die Cut the Honeycombs

Using hexagon dies, cut three honeycomb shapes (two large and one small) from Light Yellow Cardstock. Arrange the honeycombs around the card front in a triangle pattern. One large near the top right, small one near the middle left, and the other large one near the bottom right.

Create the Floral Accents

Die cut leaves from Pearl Green Curry Textured Cardstock and Scottish Highland Textured Cardstock.

Die cut small flowers from Hydrangea Purple Cardstock and Pop-Tone Pink Lemonade Cardstock

Layer the flowers and leaves to the bottom of each honeycomb for a soft floral look. Add black rhinestones to the flower centers for contrast and shine.

Add the Sentiment

I die cut the “hello” sentiment from Beetle Black Cardstock three times. Adhered them together for some dimension. Then I glued the sentiment across the center of the card, slightly overlapping the small honeycomb.

Embellish the Card

Add a tiny acrylic bee embellishment near the top of the card to tie the honeycomb theme together. Finish the card with additional black rhinestones scattered around the background for balance and sparkle.

Create Focal Element

Using a vintage VW bug die set in my stash, I cut the pieces from the following cardstock:
Classic Crest Patriot Blue: VW bug body, fenders and side mirror
Lessebo Pitch Black: Car outline and wheels; and Lessebo Granite Gray: Front and back bumpers
Bright Silver Foil: Hubcaps
Classic Crest 80# Solar White: Rear and front lights (rear light colored with red marker)

Cut Card Base & Layers

Firstly, cut a standard A2 size side-folding card base from Classic Crest Patriot Blue.

Secondly, cut one full-size and one roughly third-size layering panel from coordinating light brown patterned papers. Oh, this navy blue and light brown look so good together!

Thirdly, cut a sentiment panel for the inside from Classic Crest Recycled 100% Classic Natural White.

Adhere Layers for Masculine Card Inspiration Project

Next, glue the two light brown patterned paper panels together with the narrow one across the bottom.

Notch the corners of the card base, the patterned paper layering panel, and inside sentiment panel.

Now grab a leftover strip of patterned paper and adhere it to the left side of the inside sentiment panel.

Add Focal & Sentiments

Glue the focal element to the card front and stamp a sentiment in blue ink.

Afterwards, stamp a sentiment on the inside sentiment panel.

Complete Masculine Card Inspiration Project

All that’s left to do is add a few glitter enamel dots to the front and adhere the inside sentiment panel. Your awesome masculine card is complete!

Hi everyone! It’s Jessica here. Graduation season is right around the corner, so I was inspired to create an uplifting card for someone that is out of this world! If you don’t know any highschoolers who will be graduating soon, you could turn this concept into a birthday or Father’s day card! 

Step 1

I wanted to watercolor a starry night sky background, so I pulled out Strathmore 100% Cotton Watercolor 5×7 cardstock. This is a heavyweight cardstock that can handle wet media and is great for watercoloring. I stamped the Night Skies background stamp from Brutus Monroe with VersaFine Clair Nocturne ink several times to get a clear impression.

Step 2

Then I heat embossed the entire panel with clear embossing powder. Alternatively, you could also heat emboss with white embossing powder to create a background with white stars. I thought that would look good, too, but decided to go with black stars for a more dramatic look. 

Step 3

Now it’s time for some watercoloring! I scribbled with several blue shades of ZIG Clean Color brushes (No. 034 Dull Blue / No. 035 Deep Blue / No. 038 Peacock Blue) to create the night sky scene. The colors blend so easily on the Strathmore 100% Cotton Watercolor cardstock with a waterbrush, it almost feels like you are moving wet paint! I also stamped a rocket ship and colored it with No. 022 Carmine Red / No. 050 Yellow / No. 091 Light Gray. Once the watercolors were dry, I trimmed down the background panel and fussy cut the rocket image. 

Step 4

Next, I trimmed a piece of Stardream Metallic Onyx cardstock to 4’’ x 5 ¼’’. The metallic shine of the Stardream cardstock is just fabulous! The shimmer is elegant and adds the perfect touch to this mysterious stellar galaxy. I also heat embossed the sentiment in white using this same cardstock. 

Step 5

Finally, I added a gold circle frame and various star die cuts to complete the scene. The DCS Gold Glitter Heavyweight cardstock is so sparkly, it really makes the stars pop against the black background.
