Card Base

This card starts off with Desert Storm Cardstock that I used for the base and inside layers. I stamped several of my images directly onto the Desert Storm Cardstock. I love the slight “speckles” you see in this cardstock. It’s like a literal desert storm with the wind blowing. It’s fabulous!

Layering & Stamped Images

Two of the cut-out spaces, as well as all the fishing images, were cut using Natural White Cardstock. As you can see, all of my stamped images look fabulous stamped onto either color of this cardstock. The papers are absolutely gorgeous.

Final Touches on Masculine Fishing Card Design

That STUNNING blue paper that I used for the second base layer and the tackle box were cut using Lessebo Premium Misty Blue Cardstock. Again, the weight and thickness of this high-quality paper is amazing. It’s firm, easy to work with, cuts so nicely, and really makes my card pop with color. Why These Cardstocks Work So Well

For this card, I chose Cougar White Smooth CardStock 110 lbs for the card base and sentiment shadow because it creates a sturdy foundation and has a smooth finish that is perfect for crisp die cuts.

The Yellow Jacket DCS Discount Card Stock adds a warm, sunny tone for the flowers and butterflies. It blends beautifully with ink, making it easy to create soft shading and dimension.

The Hydrangea Purple DCS Discount Card Stock provides contrast and richness for the layered floral elements and sentiment. The smooth surface makes the ink blending seamless, especially around the petal edges.

Step 1: Die Cut and Ink Blend the Floral Pieces

Begin by die cutting the floral elements from the Golden Poppies Die Set using Yellow Jacket DCS Discount Card Stock and Hydrangea Purple DCS Discount Card Stock.

Use Sunkissed Ink to softly blend color onto the yellow flowers and butterflies. Then use Lavender Ink to add shading around the edges of the purple flowers and butterflies. For the leaves and stems, apply Olive Ink over the yellow cardstock to create natural greenery.

This simple ink blending technique adds depth and brings the die cuts to life while keeping the color palette clean and cohesive.

Step 2: Build the Floral Arrangement

Assemble the layered floral pieces with liquid glue.

Cut a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ top-folding A2 card base from Cougar White Smooth CardStock 110 lbs. Arrange the flowers in the center of the card front, mixing heights by attaching some pieces with liquid glue and others with foam squares.

This layering trick adds beautiful dimension while maintaining the clean and simple style.

Step 3: Create the Sentiment

Die cut the shadow layer from Cougar White Smooth CardStock 110 lbs using the Hugs Edger Die Set.

Next, die cut the word layer from Hydrangea Purple DCS Discount Card Stock. Adhere the purple sentiment to the white shadow layer with liquid glue, then attach it to the bottom of the card front using foam adhesive.

The layered sentiment helps anchor the floral arrangement and adds a soft elegant touch.

Step 4: Add the Finishing Details

Use a black gel pen to color the butterfly bodies before adhering them around the floral arrangement. Attach some butterflies flat with liquid glue and others with foam adhesive for extra movement.

For sparkle, brush clear shimmer pen onto the flowers and butterfly wings. Finish the design by adding a few Glasier Jewels around the card front and in the centers of some flowers.

These final details make the card shine while enhancing the soft, dimensional look.

Final Thoughts

I wanted this card to feel bright, cheerful, and full of floral charm while keeping the design simple enough for any crafter to recreate. Limiting the palette to yellow, purple, and green helps the arrangement stay balanced, while the layered die cuts add texture and depth.

A helpful tip when working with layered florals is to vary the adhesive height. Using both liquid glue and foam squares creates natural depth and keeps the arrangement from looking flat.

This card features a textured brick background, soft floral accents, and a bold yellow umbrella. This design is full of dimension, movement, shaker bits and an encouraging sentiment that is sure to raise spirits.

Supplies for Uplifting Umbrella Shaker Card

• Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock
• DCS Canvas Textured Rubber Ducky Yellow Cardstock
• Lessebo Salt Water Blue Cardstock
• Bright Foil Silver 10 pt Cardstock
• Brick embossing folder
• Die-cutting machine
• Floral corner die
• Umbrella die
• Shape die (for shaker window)
• Acetate
• Foam adhesive
• Sequins or shaker mix
• Ink blending tools & inks
• Sentiment stamp & black ink
• Liquid adhesive

Step 1: Create the Card Base

Cut a piece of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock to 7 x 10 inches. Score at 5 inches on the 10 inch side, fold and burnish to create an A7 (5 x7 inch) card base. Set aside.

Step 2: Die Cutting for Uplifting Umbrella Shaker Card

Use a shape die to cut a window from the center of a 4 3/4 x 6 3/4 inch piece of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock. This will be the focal area for your shaker.

Die cut 2 floral corner pieces out of Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock.

Cut 2 umbrellas. One out of Bright Foil Silver 10 pt Cardstock and one out of DCS Canvas Textured Rubber Ducky Yellow Cardstock. The silver piece serves as the base of the umbrella. Trim the handle and top off of the yellow umbrella. Draw in sections and shading on the yellow piece. See photo for reference.

Step 3: Inking & Stamping Sentiment

Run the shaker window panel through your die-cutting machine using a brick embossing folder to create texture. Add ink with an ink blending tool to the raised areas.

Ink the floral borders to add color and adhere to the embossed panel.

Cut a piece of Lessebo Salt Water Blue Cardstock to 5 x 7 inches for the card background and base of the shaker. Stamp the sentiment so it will be seen through the shaker window. Adhere to the white card base.

Step 4: Build the Shaker

Attach acetate behind the window opening. Add foam adhesive to the back side.
Pour sequins or shaker mix onto the card base.
Adhere the panel to the card base.

Step 5: Finishing the Uplifting Umbrella Shaker Card

Assemble the umbrella pieces and adhere to the card.
Add sequins to complete.

You now have a bright and uplifting umbrella shaker card featuring texture, movement and a pop of sunny color! The combination of embossed detail, soft florals, and interactive elements makes this a standout design for any occasion.

Hi Carrianne here! I’m excited to walk you through each step so you can recreate this card and send a little light to someone special.

Supplies & Materials

CutCardStock Colors Used:

• DCS Dolphin Gray
• Classic Crest Solar White

• DCS Gumdrop Green

Other Supplies:

• La-La Land Crafts: June 2025 Kit of the Month, Cloud, Grass Border Dies, Snowbanks Die
• Distress inks: Tumbled Glass (sky), shading die elements
• Copic Markers: (C0) for clouds and lighthouse highlights
• Adhesives: liquid glue, foam tape for dimension
• Altenew for sentiment

Step 1: Die Cut All Elements

Before we start assembling the card, it’s helpful to cut all the pieces from CutCardStock first. Laying them out lets you see the colors and plan where everything will go.

Step 2: Add Shading to Grass and Sun

Next, we add shading to the grass and sun. This step brings dimension to flat cardstock and gives your card a more realistic and lively appearance.

Step 3: Shade the Lighthouse

Now it’s time to add shading to the lighthouse. Red highlights help define the structure and make it the focal point of the card.

Step 4: Clouds and Lighthouse Highlights

Once the lighthouse is shaded, we move to the clouds and small details. Light shading on clouds and marker highlights on the lighthouse add subtle depth without overpowering the scene.

Step 5: Blend the Sky Panel

With the pieces prepared, we create the sky. Using Tumbled Glass distress ink, blend from the top down to leave a soft, daytime sky that will serve as the perfect backdrop.

Step 6: Add Water and Adjust Sun

At this point, I decided to make a small design change. Originally, I planned to use two layers of grass, but as the scene came together, it felt a bit heavy at the bottom. Instead, I removed one grass layer and added DCS Surf cardstock using a snowbanks die to represent water. This simple change lightened the design and felt more natural for a lighthouse scene. I also swapped the large sun for a smaller one, cutting it from DCS Yellow Jacket again, to give the sky more breathing room.

Step 7: Test the Layout Before Adhering

Before adhering any of the main elements, I used tweezers to temporarily place the lighthouse on the panel. This allowed me to arrange the clouds and sun around it and make sure the sky felt open and balanced before committing with adhesive.

Step 8: Adhere the Scene

Once the layout was finalized, all of the elements were adhered to the panel. The small cloud was glued directly to the background, while the larger cloud was popped up with foam tape so the sun could peek out from behind it. The lighthouse was secured with a small piece of foam tape near the top for subtle dimension, and a tiny seagull was added as a finishing touch.

To complete the card, I stamped the sentiment directly onto the panel in the open space to the right of the lighthouse. The finished panel was then adhered to a DCS Dolphin Gray card base, which frames the scene and helps the colors stand out.

Taking a closer look really shows how all the pieces come together and the subtle details that make the card special.

Build the Perfume Bottle Shaker

First, start with a rectangle cut in Stardream Metallic Pluto White. Make sure the cut you use has nested dies to go with it. Cut one folded card in Classic Crest Solar White in the same dimensions.

Next use the rectangle die and one shape smaller and cut approximately four or five frames in Classic Crest Double Thick Solar White. I like to use this weight because it’s thicker and will make a nice cavity for the shaker bits, and you don’t have to cut any foam.

Glue those frames together, then glue it onto the white rectangle. Additionally, dust the edges with a dryer sheet to remove static cling. Fill the cavity with assorted sequins or beads in your chosen color. I like both for glitter and noise!

Now adhere a piece of acetate to the top frame, after you’ve lightly tapped it on a dryer sheet. Cut one final frame in your chosen color. I chose the Stardream Metallic Pluto White. Glue it to the top. Disregard the bottle top in the picture, we’re coming to that next.

Build the Perfume Bottle Shape

It’s time to build a perfume bottle! First, start with a top note style die cut, preferably a smaller one with a rounded top but anything that would resemble perfume bottle cap. Cut this in CCS Gold Glitter.

Next, cut another perfume bottle cap shape in Silk Glitter Black Prince and Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz and trim a few strips to adhere to the top of your CCS Gold Glitter cap. Glue this to the back of your rectangle.

Then, adhere the folded card to the back of the panel. This will cover the bottom of the perfume bottle cap, so it’s not seen from the back.

Embellish the Bottle

Now it’s time to print your sentiment on your perfume bottle shaker card. I chose NO.25 to represent a Chanel bottle because my daughter was turning 25! If this is for another event or Mother’s Day, here are some of my ideas for you:

• No. 1 Mom
• Forever Her
• Est. (birthyear)
• La Vie de Mom

As you arrange the image on your computer, make sure it fits your top note shape that you will use for the label. I used Classic Crest Solar White because it prints up so nicely on my printer! Additionally, you could add images as well, especially if you have an electronic cutting machine.

Finally, it’s time to embellish! I used the same CCS Gold Glitter frame to put around my label. I cut a bow in Stardream Metallic Rose Quartz and added a large rhinestone to the top. I am so excited about this project and want to make several in many shapes and colors.

FLOWERS: Hydrangea Purple Textured Cardstock, Plum Textured Cardstock, Aqua Cardstock, Light Yellow Cardstock, Yellow Jacket Textured Cardstock, Orange Fizz Cardstock , Flame Tree Orange Textured Cardstock, Pink Lemonade Cardstock, Pop-Tone Razzleberry Cardstock
CUP & SENTIMENT: Patriot Blue Cardstock
BACKGROUND LABEL & SENTIMENT LABEL: Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock

Second, die cut the sentiment word ‘happy’ three times from the Patriot Blue Cardstock. Next, adhere them together to create a chipboard type word.

Step 3: Assemble the Florals

Adhere all the flower pieces together using wet glue.

Step 4: Cut the Card Base & Labels

Now cut a 5″x7″ size card base. Create a layered label for the card front. Then gather the other elements for the card.

Step 5: Put the Floral Mother’s Day Card Together

Glue the Pre-cut 5″x7″ Textured Beetle Black Textured Cardstock to the card base. Additionally, adhere the two background label shapes together.

Add the cup and the background leaves to the card front. 

Arrange the flowers in the cup.

Stamp the sub-sentiment on the small label cut from Classic Crest Solar White Cardstock and add the sentiments to the card front.

Finally, add a few tiny gold gems to the flower centers and around the flowers. Here is a close up of the flowers.

This pretty floral Mother’s Day card is complete!

Cut Card Base & Layers

Firstly, cut a mini slimline card base from Lessebo Navy Blue at 6″ x 7″ and score it at 3-1/2″ on the long side. For reference purposes, I make my finished mini slimline cards 3-1/2″ x 6″. That size fits perfectly in a #6-3/4 size commercial envelope.

Secondly, cut front and inside layering panels from Dolphin Gray cardstock.

Thirdly, cut your tissue box panel for the front to the desired size. Then cut a panel just slightly larger than the tissue box panel from Bright Silver Foil.

Finally, cut an inside sentiment panel from Neenah Classic Crest 80# Solar White.

Optional: Cut a smaller piece from the tissue box panel to embellish the inside sentiment panel. Can layer that onto a scrap piece of Dolphin Gray like I did.

Die Cut Front Sentiment

Die cut a large sentiment twice and adhere them together for a little dimension. Affixing adhesive sheet to the back of the die cuts make them a breeze to adhere together.

Adhere Layers

Create the front panel by adhering the tissue box panel to the silver foil and then to the gray panel.

Next, create the inside sentiment panel by adhering the small piece of tissue box to the left side of the white panel. Finish this by adhering it to the gray panel.

Add Sentiments

Now add the die cut sentiment to the front panel and stamp a sentiment on the inside panel.

Complete Easy Mini Slimline Card

Finish the card by adhering the front and inside panels to the card base.

Additionally, add several silver glitter enamel dots.

Judy R here today to share flowers sent with love – paper flowers! Let’s get to the steps!

Step 1 – Gather Your Supplies

Gather your supplies and choose your papers/cardstocks. Today I am using a stitched flower die set (Stampin’ Up!), but you can choose any flower dies in your stash. Many companies offer something similar to the ones I am using. If you save your paper scraps, this is the perfect opportunity to use those, and determine your colors from the scraps you have. The cardstocks I am using today:

DCS Discount Card Stock: Canvas Textured Galax Olive Green
Poptone Pink Lemonade
Basis 8.5×11 Light Yellow
Lessebo Colors Premium Ivory Discount Cardstock
Classic Crest Solar White

Step 2 – Card Bases and Die Cutting

My card base is 4.25×11″ from the Pink Lemonade, scored in half and folded. The mat base is from the Ivory, cut 4×5.25″. All of the flowers and foliage were cut at the same time on my large electronic die cutting machine.

Step 3 – Stencil and Stamp

Before adhering any of the flowers, I wanted to add a bit of faux texture with a stencil (A Colorful Life Designs) in a subtle color. Any graphic or floral stencil will do! I chose a light yellow to match the cardstock, and stenciled just on the upper left corner. I then stamped my “Sent with Love” sentiment (The Greetery) on top of the stenciling. My favorite black ink is VersaFine Clair Nocturne. It’s a pigment ink, so you have to emboss or let it dry to prevent smearing.

Step 4 – Assemble the Card

I like to use liquid glue, adhesive tape, and foam tape to assemble my designs. I used a couple of Distress Oxide inks to give some dimension to the flowers and change the color of the pinks. For a little extra bling, I added some clear bubble dots on the flower centers and to the card base.

Step 1

Trim Stardream Metallic Onyx cardstock to 3 ¾’’ x 5’’. Paint golden stripes on the card panel with Sheer Shimmer Gold. One trick to avoid the gold shimmer from pooling on the edges is to swipe your paintbrush onto the craft mat. Another alternative is starting with a bigger piece of cardstock, then trimming the panel down to size. 

Step 2

Dry the cardstock panel with a heat gun, and repeat steps 1-2 until you achieve bold, gold stripes. The Stardream Metallic Onyx cardstock has a subtle shimmer as well – it adds an elegant touch to the card base.

Step 3

Die cut roses and leaves with DCS Gold Glitter Heavyweight 12 x 12 cardstock. I find this glitter cardstock very easy to cut through. Some of the glitter cardstock I’ve used before uses adhesives to bind to the glitter, which takes a little more time to peel the die cut pieces off each other. This glitter cardstock, on the other hand, separates very easily after it’s been cut through.

Step 4

Next, adhere the die cuts to the strips background panel. I used On-Point Glue since the fine-tip nozzle is perfect for applying small amounts of glue. Then, use an acrylic block to press down on the die cut so that it completely adheres to the background. 

Step 5

Finally, stamp the sentiment with Brilliance Galaxy Gold ink pad. This gold ink pad matches the Sheer Shimmer Gold so well! I added some black enamel dots to complete the card. I love the classic black and gold color combo, and I hope this card inspires you to try different kinds of gold shimmer on your project.

Creating the jungle backdrop

To begin, I started the card by sponging a Lessebo Sweet Mint cardstock panel in a couple of shades of green. Notice I left the center of the front largely uninked to create a spotlight.

Next, I diecut a tropical leaves and vines cover plate from Pop Tone Gumdrop Green cardstock. Then I adhered this to the card front. Further, I added a branch cut from Environment Desert Storm cardstock with additional Pop Tone Sour Apple cardstock leaves sponged with a darker green so they would pop out.

Adding the tropical bird

I have no idea if pink birds exist out in the real world, but I do know they certainly should. On mine, I used Lessebo Blossom Pink and Discount Raspberry Ice along with Silk Glitter Princess Pink cardstock. Additionally, I added Pop Tone Black Licorice and Pop Tone Lemon Drop cardstock for contrast.

Of course, I used the same pinks and lemon yellow along with Lessebo Bubble Gum Pink cardstock to add some blossoms here and there.

As a final step, I embossed the sentiment in white on a scrap of Pop Tone Black Licorice cardstock. The boldness of the sentiment balances out the pink bird quite nicely, don’t you think?

Step 4: Add Decorative Details

For extra elegance:

• Add shine and sparkle to the royal theme
• Layer the crowns above the King and Queen letters

These small accents elevate the overall design.

Step 5: Final Assembly

• Glue all playing card layers together using Bearly Arts precision glue
• Add foam tape behind the crowns for dimension
• Layer the sentiment across the center
• Glue hearts and spades

Step 6: Finishing Touches

Finish the card by:

• Adding scattered gems
• Light splatter (optional)
• Small white accents for balance with white gel pen

This project started with a sturdy white box with a magnetic catch. I couldn’t let it go to waste!

Start with the Ink Smooshed Panels

I have been playing around with inks on Vellum and Kromecote cardstock. I love the tones you can create!

Start with a 5.5 x 8.5 inch piece of White Kromecote Cardstock. Add one distress ink color to your craft mat, add a little water spritz and run your fingers through to break up the color. Dab the Kromecote into the ink, rotating and dipping until you are happy with the color. Use a heat tool to dry this layer. Clean the mat and use the next darker color and repeat. Keep going with additional similar ink colors until you are happy with the base. Be sure it is completely dry and then add Micro Glaze to seal the panel.

Measure the box sides and top and then trim the panel to cover the areas leaving a small margin all around. Glue the panels in place and allow plenty of time to dry. I placed acrylic block on top of each area to assure I had good coverage.

After the panels are dry, use archival ink plus a sentiment stamp of choice to stamp on the top to add interest.

Create the Vellum Floral Image

Add distress ink to the 65lb. Translucent Vellum Cardstock in coordinating colors. I mixed the coral and pink colors to create areas of different colors. After the Vellum is completely dry, die cut the petals and leaves using the Pink Star Tulip die set from Altenew. I love the size of this gorgeous bloom.

Assemble the bloom using the least amount of glue possible and concentrating the glue near the center where it may be more hidden by the layers.

Create the Frame and Cut the Sentiment

Use the Bright Foil 10 pt. Cardstock plus the embossing folder plus die from Altenew’s Frozen Moment Set to create the gorgeous, detailed rectangle frame. I layered three frames for dimension. Cut and layer two grateful sentiments from Concord and Ninth using the same gold cardstock. (I did alter the sentiment by cutting off the word so leaving only grateful).

Assemble the Box

Arrange the bloom and leaves on the gold frame. Attach the gold from in the upper right corner allowing space for the sentiment in the lower left corner. Use a glue dot to attach the bloom in the center.

Before attaching the sentiment, splatter the top with gold paint. Attach the sentiment in the lower right corner!
