Merry Christmas!

Almost. I have been in college, which is why I have not posted the rest of the Hunger Games themed outfits.

Never fear, I shall continue that eventually.

For now though, I am going to show off what we college people do with our spare time.

We dance!

(And yes, that is a Pokemon mask...)

During this past semester my darlings friends and I have taken every opportunity to shop for and wear all things glitzy and glamorous.

We threw a ball, attended a bridal shower, randomly sacked thrift stores searching for perfect dresses..

And we were in a play.

That too.

(Thanks, Modcloth, for a majority of my costume!)

So I thought I would share some pictures from our most magnificent moments.

We truly do dazzle. ;-)

The Fashion Games: Outfit#1- A Hunting We Will Go..

Happy Hunger Games!

While I've yet to see the movie,

I have read the book(s).

Thus the inspiration for this next CNM series!

It's been awhile since Alice in Fashionland,

So I thought we were due a few new fiction based outfits.

In the Hunger Games series, Katniss Everdeen

is a ridiculously poor girl who has been taking care of her mom and sister, Prim,

since the tragic death of her father.

In an attempt to protect her sister from certain death,

she volunteers to take Prim's place in the abhorred Hunger Games.

But before this valiant act of love takes place,

Katniss goes hunting.

*Note: These outfits are INSPIRED by The Hunger Games.

Not meant to be worn in them.

Therefore, I'm using skirts, and possibly heels.*

;-)

So, this jacket is actually what inspired me to create this outfit series.

I saw it and thought

"That's what Katniss would wear."

The green will help camouflage, I'm sure.

I love floor length skirts.

If I was going hunting in a skirt, this would be the one I wore.

Lace-up boots are the bomb.

(That is not Hunger Games humor, by the way...)

These actually would be fairly useful out in the woods.

Tie them up tight, and there is no chance of spiders getting in your shoes!

;-)

Mmm, I love this bag!

Cross-body bags are so stylish!

The flap on this one is adorable.

If someone ever actually used this as a forage bag, I might cry.

School Dayz

Georgetown College.

Just down the road from the ever yum-o Fava's diner,

this little patch of collegiate-ness serves to educate youths from all over the world.

It comes complete with food that is only good in the morning,

Dorms that I most definitely will not be staying at,

and this thing called a G-Card which is actually quite awesome.

As this is where I will most likely spend the next four years of my life

(It's always a good time....)

I figured I should do a blog post about it.

So Georgetown's mascot is a tiger.

This means our colors are black and orange.

How lame is that?

What is not lame, is the fact that the little Eiffel Towers,

and other such French-y symbols on this dress,

are in black and orange!

The lovely Robin's Egg Blue background definitely helps

tone down the Halloween-ish vibe those colors normally have.

I own this dress, and I must say, it's fantabulous.

Wedge heels and peep toes.

I'm a creature of habit.

This is a great transitional shoe,

And what's more transitional than college, right?

So, apparently, kids that go to real school have to tote their books all day.

This inspired some kindhearted soul to invent this lil beauty,

The backpack.

This chic edition of this fabulous invention is just the thing for a sophisticated college student.

While I'm not a fan of the colors, I do have to show *some* school pride here..

And this cute little tiger bracelet is just the thing!

Subtle, yet styling, this shows just the right amount of school spirit!

Prom Girl Review

Hello!
I am doing something I've never done before-

A store review!

While I have done outfits strictly from one store, this will be the first store I actually write a review for.

The store is called Prom Girl.
As most of you know, I'm homeschooled.
I don't do prom..
However, I do love dresses of any kind.
Excepting cocktail dresses.
(If you like cocktail dresses, they offer those here:)
I was really excited to get the request to review this website.
I have looked at Prom Girl before during one of my many hunts for the perfect dress.
It's a very easy site to use, lots of ways to narrow down your hunt.
There are several dresses in a variety of colors and styles.
Not really any modest ones, though.
Like, not at all.
(Which is why I haven't been able to use them before.)
However, there are some dresses you could probably use the skirt part.
I mean, who doesn't love a satiny, floor length skirt?
The 2012 Prom collection
has some seriously zany colors.
You gotta love a tie-dye princess dress, right?
Most of them are the high-lo style; therefore useless for the purpose of using the skirt.
The skirt on this dress is pretty awesome.
Along with prom and formal dresses ,
Prom Girl also offers a variety of shoes, jewelry, and underclothing
for whatever big event you're preparing for.
The jewelry is fairly priced, and quite sparkly.
Really that's the best way to describe the shoes as well.
My over all opinion of the website is as follows:
Shoes and accessories, I'd buy.
Dresses... It really just depends on how much altering I'd have to do.
The website itself was wonderful.
I wish some of the modest prom sites were as user friendly as Prom Girl.

To finish off this review,

I've put together an outfit from Prom Girl

(Of course)

that's as modest as I could get it.

Like I said,

They have some seriously sparkly jewelry.

Including this fantabulous tiara.

You can't have a princess dress without a tiara.

It's just not right.

This one is subtle, yet suitable.

This dress was the most modest I found on the site. I think.

You could add a shrug to a few others and they might work,

But this was the only one I saw that actually showed a shrug.

And it's a lovely shrug.

I really like the flowery detail on the skirt,

and cream colored dresses are just plain dreamy.

I love broaches.

Next to pendents, I think broaches are my favorite.

I personally have about 14.

This particular broach I'd use right at the neck of the shrug.

Just to add some sparkle.

Because you can never have enough.

;-)

Ok, you're in a princess dress.

You need some sparkly heels.

These are an awesome gold color.

(I think gold looks better with the yellow in this case.)

I live the rhinestones on the shoes, as well as the lovely geometric pattern up the strap.

September marks the beginning of fall.

(Yes, it does.)

Fall marks the beginning of hat season.

Floppy hats are very vogue this year, and while this hat's brim's not as floppy as all get out,

It's still pretty darn cute.

Much like this vest.

It was love at first sight.

Seriously, it's sooo cute!

I love the color. It's all blueberry and such.

Basic brown tee.

Good structure. Good color.

Not too heavy, not too light.

Yes, I've used this skirt a lot.

It's so great though!

The dark denim is perfect for fall.

I love the details on these shoes.

And they're perfect for showing off cute fall nail colors!

Bronze is the perfect metallic for fall.

I love the pockets on this purse.

The little change pouch is so useful!

Ok, if you haven't noticed, traveling is something I've always dreamed of doing.

And therefore I've always liked anything to do with passports, planes, maps, you name it!

Birthday Surprise: Wishin' & Hopin'....

It's true.
My darling blog is a whole year old now!
And though I have had to give up fashion blogging for the time being,
I was NOT going to ignore this wonderful occasion!
(Proof I've been busy: CNM's birthday was actually the 1st..:-P )

Though I still cannot blog on a regular basis,
I put together what I think Cute N Modest would wear on her birthday
if she was a young lady.

Though I've been away for awhile,

I haven't changed much in regards to my taste in fashion.

I still love ruffles.

Peppermint Winter Outfit#1: Snowy Stargazer

(A freezing fashion fairytale)

So according to Grooveshark,

I am addicted to this song..

But for good reason(s)..

(It came out on a really good day, it's a super sweet song, it's Christmas-y, lotsa other reasons..)

So please enjoy the following mini-story

inspired by this song

Plus,

the outfit inspired by both.

It was a very cold night.

The young lady was curled up by the fireplace reading

"The Two Towers"

and drinking hot chocolate with French vanilla flavored marshmallows.

The rest of her family was watching the end of the TCU vs New Mexico game.

There was a scratching on the door.

Her dog, Dug, wanted in for the night.

Her little brother offered to bring the pup in for her,

But she said no, she's got it.

As it was mid December,

she was wearing her adorable penguin shirt she got at

ModCloth.

It was super comfy, and very cute..

Perfect for a night like this..

She grabbed her coat from the closet on her way out.

She didn't normally like to wear coats,

but how could she not like this one?

Not too light or too heavy,

plus it was pretty.

;-)

Perfect to just throw over her shoulders,

which was her favorite way to wear it.

She opened the door, and grabbed her scarf off the hook.

It was colder than she thought it would be.

Well, that, and she loved this scarf..

The random pops of color made her smile,

and, of course,

the pockets were a plus.

:-)

She felt her scarf get caught on something.

She uncaught her favorite necklace from a stray piece of yarn.

It is *Slightly* possible that she did just buy this necklace for the name..

That, and wishing wells were one of the cutest concepts ever.

(to her anyway..)

"I guess I won't be doing much stargazing tonight.." she thought,

looking wryly at the snow covered car

(her favorite stargazing spot)

and pulling her coat tighter around her shoulders.

It seemed the snow had ceased, but the fluffy layer of clouds

still blocked her view of all but one

extremely brave little star.

Her favorite star.

He was a cute little thing..

Always shining no matter what the weather.

She was very impressed, because she didn't think he'd be able to make it through the thick clouds of the first snow of the season.

Completely forgetting about bringing Dug in,

she looked up at her star and made a wish.

The wind starting blowing a bit harder, and it started snowing again.

Little white flakes landed on her skirt.

She shivered and smiled up at her star.

Dug came up beside her and started whining.

And dramatically shivering and rolling on his back..

The girl laughed and rubbed her little dog's belly.

He rolled back over and started running in circles around her.

She laughed again and started chasing him.

And then she realized that she hadn't grabbed a pair of shoes on the way out!

Now her favorite pair of socks were all wet!

Oh, well..

She knew she'd get about 45 new pairs for Christmas.

;-)

She scooped up Dug and went back inside,

with one last parting smile in her star's general direction..

Later that night, as she was getting ready for bed,

she looked out her window at the falling snow.

It was very beautiful.

"Now, if only it'll stick around a few more days till Christsmas!"

She said hopefully to herself before shutting the blinds and crawling into bed..

The Perfect Victorian Outfit!

So, first we start with the shirt. I found this on Overstock.com and it comes in one of three really cute colors, but I happened to like the purple one best! :)

Next, we have the vest. This part was really what inspired this outfit. Why? I have no idea. But this paired with the shirt makes a 10 of 10 on the cuteness meter! Plus it has lace!

Now, we have the skirt. Simple, black, elegant, Victorian. Nuff said.

And here is one of the best parts of an outfit! The shoes! Now, if anyone is out there saying, "But those aren't historically accurate!",

I would like to remind them that this is a fashion site, it's not really historical.

(However, if Natalie wants to turn it into one, I'm okay with that! ;D)

Okay, so what outfit wouldn't be complete without jewelry? I actually did look up Victorian jewelry and found out that it actually looked a lot like jewelry we wear now. Which is why finding the jewelry was the easiest part of this outfit! So first we have the beautiful necklace....

.....and then, the really pretty earrings!

And, last but not least, the purse.....

This was the most difficult thing to find as nobody sells the type of satchel I was looking for in colors that would match much of anything. But, that's what Amazon is for, right? And just look at it! It is not just the picture of cuteness, it's cuteness itself!

This is possibly my new favorite

outfit that I've put together!

Two of my favorite things God created are sand and sapphires.

And it just so happens that those two colors look great together!

Therefore I made an outfit and named it

Sand and Sapphires.

(I also haven't slept in three days, so things might be a little crazy..)

The Traveling Heroine of a Mysterious Romance

What is wrong with me???

For the past month I've been dying to watch some kind of

detective/mystery/ the heroine wearing a hat&trench coat

movie!

Something involving

traveling,

and mystery,

and the sad, dramatic sort of romance..

(See? I told you something was wrong with me.. =P )

Sadly, the only movie I could think of that would have any of that was Casablanca.

A movie I don't remember much of,

but what I do remember, I didn't really want to see again...

*Sigh*

So, instead of watching something, anything like that,

(I settled for Hoodwinked last night...

Close enough? =P )

I decided to do an outfit that I would wear if I was the traveling heroine of a mysterious romance movie.

(Not the good, Princess Bride kind of romance, the sad, Roman Holiday kind. =P )

The name of this intriguing movie?

Well, that's for you to decide.

There's just something so

mysterious

about black, wide-brimmed hats..

The movie heroine always has it pulled down just slightly over her eyes,

so she can watch people,

unobserved...

Mysterious, right?

I love the little flower on this particular hat.

Um, so yeah..

I do have a thing for trench coats..

Especially this one..

"Who knows the reason she was so inlove with this trench?

Is it because of the ruffled collar?

Or the creamy color?

Or perhaps there's another, deeper, darker reason..."

How awesome is the color of this shell?

Since we are on movies,

I might as well say that I saw this and thought of that Princess Bride quote:

Which is why this lil' wristlet is perfect for her!

Lipstick, passport, about $500 in cash.

She'd die without it..

I also have a thing for fingerless gloves...

Alone..

Now, much as our heroine probably needs a moral booster,

She's not going to wear 4"heels while traveling.

Even I can't support her there.

The masquerade outfit of my dreams!

I really don't know what it is about the movie

that makes me like it so much!

(Besides, you know, her outfits, her acting, her cat, and her song Moon River...)

I instantly fell in love with this outfit when I saw it!

It's just so pink, and sparkly, and wonderful!!!!

Speaking of pink, and sparkly, and wonderful..

Any excuse to wear a tiara is a good excuse!

And a pink tiara to boot!

Alice in Fashionland: Outfit#4 - Sailing the Wonder

Yes, I had planned on

doing my masquerade outfit today,

But apparently I won't need that until

August 31st!

(Which is good, 'cause I have NO clue what I'm doing yet! =S )

I don't know if you noticed, but I did indeed skip two of her outfits.

(Her armor and her cute pajamas.)

(Ok, ok..They probably weren't PJ's, but they looked like it to me! =P )

This is the outfit that she wears at the end of the movie.

As it is the end of the movie I can't say anything about what is going on...

Other than that she is going sailing on a ship named Wonder.

(Best name for a sailboat ever.)

Don't you love tranch coats?

They're so

mysterious!

This jacket is an adorable shade of blue,

and I love the details on it!

It's perfect for keeping warm on the high seas!

"A vest is just a cheap, sleeveless jacket."

Whether or not you agree with this statement,

Alice is wearing a vest,

and therefore this outfit needed one.

(And for the record, I think they're cute.)

This is a very lovely and basic white blouse.

It's even cute enough to wear on its own!

(But I like it with the vest and coat too.)

If you look closely at Alice's skirt,

You'll notice that it's not just a solid blue.

And even if it was,

This skirt is so pretty,

I ♥ the Um dress.

But as it was made from curtains,

I doubt modesty was their first thought..

(Actually their first thought was probably to

"Clothe this enormous girl!" )

Despite that look,

I do think this jacket is perfect for the Um look!

The stripes and the whimsical sleeves

are both great for this outfit!

Good, old fashioned, basic, black tank.

You wear it under stuff.

Um....That's about all I can say..

(No pun intended with the Um..)

This is such a lovely skirt!

Sadly, not quite as poufy as Um's...

I mean Alice's..

But it is still deliciously full and flowing!

For some odd reason that I'm not sure I want to know,

the Red Queen was my Yaya's favorite character...

So... I was watching Alice again..

This time I picked a dress that she wears from one of my favorite scenes all the way through to...

Another of my favorite scenes.

If you've seen the movie, you'll remember that

The Mad Hatter

makes Alice a lovely formal to wear while she's tiny.

Sadly, he didn't make it too terribly modest.

Which is where I come in.

Yes, it was mostly the

ribboned sash

that attracted my to this dress.

It really has nothing to do with it's lovely color

and very awesome

SPARKLES!!!!

(Yes, I know the cost of this dress.

But hey, it's a good price for a formal.)

What almost made me not use this dress is the low-cut

V-neck...

But that's what camisoles are for,

so why not put them to good use?

This insane color teal totally coordinates

with the dress

SPARKLES!!!!

Alas,

There don't seem to be any

shoe stores in Wonderland...

But that never seemed to stop Alice from

Rockin' some cute footwear!

In this outfit it looked like she was using ribbon,

So these shoes were perfect for the part!

Sadly, my dress lacked a flower..

But I think this darling headband totally makes up for it!

So, I was watching the new

Alice in Wonderland

and I got inspired by this amazingly beautiful dress:

I love this dress.

It's my favorite costume in the whole movie!

So I decided to do an outfit semi-based on her Garden/ Engagement Party dress.

Now, the dress she is wearing is obviously not sleeveless.

And the dress I am posting is.

Therefore a cute jacket is a must.

And this adorably ruffeled shrug is just perfect!

This dress is just too wonderful!

It's just the dress for a garden party!

And the color is so lovely!

"I'm late! I'm late!"

That's actually not in this new movie..

Possibly the only thing I missed from the original..

(That's not going to keep me from putting it on here though. ;-D )

The rabbit plays such an important role in the movie's garden party,

I had to add him to mine one way or another!

I love Brielle Costumes!

(And not just for the name! ;-D )

These fingerless gloves are totally cute!

You can also get them in black stripes, but I might use those later...
