I've thought long and hard how to write this and still haven't come up with much. Here's the fact, Cutie Pies will be officially closing this Saturday. The Saturday Winter Market at Hope Artist Village will be our last hurrah.

The menu? Whatever I feel. I was thinking maybe a Drunken Coconut Turtle, or a Lemon Thistle. Not sure yet, but I know it'll be amazing, and exactly what I want to see. If there's any requests, now is the time. I don't doubt there'll be more than two pies, because who can say all they want to with just two?

The question a lot of y'all must have on your mind is why. Very simple, though twofold. First is the economy. We're small, one full time employee (me) and a part time, sometimes more depending on the season. It's been two years, to the day, and we haven't gotten any bigger. I can't find any funding to grow, the SBA is dry and every backer I find takes a look at the tax codes here in Rhode Island and backs right out. Food is also a risky investment. So I have a choice.... I can stay small and barely make ends meet or move on to something else with a little more security.

The other big reason is my mother. As some of y'all know she's been sick and is only getting worse. I'm taking this time to head down to Florida in order to look after her and run her business for a little while. Until she gets back on her feet or until something else. What will happen to Shea, you ask? He'll stay here for the time being, until things are figured out. We're taking the next few months as they come. It's what times of transition call for.

Before I sign off, I'd like to say a few things and some folks I'd like to thank. First to my partner Shea. He's been very supportive and has struggled with me through everything, lent a hand when he could and backed off the best he knew how when he had to. Also Josh Selle, the owner of the now gone Blue Elephant. He rented his kitchen to me when we started out and we wouldn't have gotten anywhere without him. Ian Wade, now at Julian's, has been a great support and a fantastic cook, there's no amount of praise I can give that's worthy of him.

I'm deeply indebted to Tina of Tina's Jamaican Caribbean Restaurant. She took up our cause after we parted ways with the Elephant, and has been my personal champion. Tina, in all her warmth, love and glory, is one of the best human beings I've had the pleasure of meeting. Please, keep going to her place, show her support. I know of no harder working, loyal and genuinely lovable people. Her food is amazing and walking into her place you'll feel a great homecoming. I did.

And while there's a whole host of folks I'd love to thank personally, I wont bore y'all. There's just one big ass group. And that's y'all. If you're reading this, you've bought something in the past or been part of this little adventure. You've supported and loved us beyond the call of duty, read all the updates, ordered, showed up at markets, festivals, hired us for weddings, tea parties and everything else in between. You've delighted in my weird little creations and enjoyed classics. You've hung on when maybe something didn't turn out exactly as expected and been surprised when the unlikely knocked it out of the park.

Thank you.

Because of y'all I made it two years. That's longer than most in this business, and if I were to go on I have no doubt y'all would still be with me. I am grateful.

While I know this is kind of sad, especially for those who've no idea how I made that Sweet Chai Pie or crave Chicago Blues, know this isn't the end. I'm leaving the door open. I'm willing to come back to being the Pie Lady in the future, here or elsewhere. Nothing is ever the end and never say never and all that.

You're welcome to come around on Saturday to send us off, take a picture or get one last cinnamon roll. I'll be there and happy to see you because you've been great.
Thanks.
~Iris
--
Cutiepies - Our only competition is Mom.
400 flavors, 9 crusts, and 3 sizes
at your local market or for home delivery.

BEST PIE IN RHODE ISLAND
- Providence Phoenix & RI Monthly 2009

cutiepiepies@cox.net
http://www.cutiepiepies.blogspot.com/

French Vanilla Strawberry and Sunrise Pie

Hey all! Yes, another late entry into our ongoing menu release. Why? I just got strawberries.

Strawberries, you say... not just any strawberries, but local organic greenhouse strawberries!
There aren't many, so I'm making a French Vanilla Strawberry pie. This has just about everything you'd want. Sweet, light, rich and chock full of bursting fresh berries. I love berries more than almost anything else, so it is a delight to work with really good ones.

In other things I love, I love sunshine. We have finally come out of the worst of winter, it's almost behind us, almost all done. As some of you know, I'm a southern gal and can't stand the winter, just makes me want to sleep. But then spring starts to come in, the windows get thrown open and I shake off the doldrums of winter and get into something new.

Hence, Sunrise Pie. This is a playful orange cream with toasted coconut layered on top. This reminds me of bright days, warm breezes, picnics and kite flying. Which are all things I'm looking forward to.

We'll be at the Hope Artist Village in Pawtucket tomorrow, that's Saturday, from 11-2. And if you're lucky, and early enough, you'll find some cinnamon rolls and a bit of Cutie Quiche. See you then, and stay tuned, big announcement next week.
~Iris

Giveaway ~ Get a free pie from Cutie Pies!

Here at Cutie Pies we love to work with other great people (that's why we work with Tina's, Farm Fresh, I Heart Providence, etc), and Erika Smith at I {heart} Rhody is no different. Not to worry, we've got you covered. This week the Cutie Pie crew are putting together little gift bags that won't break the bank but will make your loved one feel special. A little bit on that later, first, where to see us this week!

I Heart Providence has come back around, and this year should be an even better party. Held at City Hall and starting at 6PM on Thursday the 11th, this party is the end all be all of lovers and lovers of Providence. Come by for some food, music, and get in the media booth to tell the world why you love Providence. Things aren't that bad, show some love.

We'll also be at the Hope Artist Village Winter Farmers' Market, complete with our Valentine flavors, just in case you can't join the festivities at City Hall. The market starts at 11am and we'll stick around as long as we've got pie.

So what are we serving? Four delightful flavors this week! Follow me down the wonderful and wicked ways of love.

Falling in Love This was a favorite last year and has been heavily requested. A chocolate crust filled with a dark chocolate smashed with raspberries and a mint ribbon, this is the perfect way to let your loved one know exactly how you feel.

Wild at Heart Not just in love? Completely bananas? Chocolate whipped with bananas and covered in caramel, this succulent little pie will have your sweetie swinging from the chandelier.

Vanilla Heart Not a chocolate fan, are you. So, try this lush vanilla with an eggy center, complete with a bruleed top. Yes, vanilla might sound boring to others, but Cutie Pies makes it decadent and new. Surprise your partner with... vanilla!

Cupid Can Suck It Ok, not everyone is in love, and the big V-Day celebration isn't always well timed. So what? You can have a pie, too. Chocolate filled pie full of cherries and hand made marshmallows. No love has ever tasted better.

So that's it, y'all! Give a shout, email or phone, and we'll hook you up with a gift box, whole pie, tasters, cuties, whatever you'd like. You can even call and tell me what you think the next pie name should be! Hope to see you at I Heart Providence, it will hoot of a time, but if not we'll catch y'all later in the week. Until then, keep warm!

~Iris

Who Dat Pie & Sweet Ricotta

Hey all!!

Alright, so unless you've been living under a rock or you're just not interested in football, the Saints are headed to the Superbowl this Sunday. Now, I admit, usually, I don't care. I am, however, from New Orleans, and am part of my tribe.

So in honor of my city's team heading to the big show in so many freakin' years, I'm doing a Who Dat Pie. Now, I have to maybe explain this a little bit. I've been getting a lot of questions about what, exactly, a Who Dat is. It's our fight song. As in, "Who dat sayin' they gonna beat them saints, who dat?! Who dat?!"

The Who Dat song has sorta.... well, let's just say the city has done exactly what my city does, and everyone is now doing their own version of the Who Dat song. In case you'd like to know what that sounds like, take a look at the Times Picayune/NOLA.com site to hear the whole line up of songs. It really is quite fun. http://www.nola.com/music/index.ssf/2009/12/new_orleans_saints_tribute_son.html

So what's in a Who Dat Pie? Chocolate, lots of it, and pralines. And lots of lots of love. Molasses. And more pralines. And cream. And more pralines. Who dat sayin' they gonna eat that pie? Who dat?!

While I'm usually very fair and like to put in both sides of pie, in love and not in love for Valentine's day, all political candidates, the front runners of any race..... not this time. I'll admit, I live Persimmon Pie (the best persimmons being found in Indiana), but they aren't in season. And no one around here really knows Shoofly Pie. So what to do?

Go local.

That's right, this week we're featuring a local favorite, the Sweet Ricotta. For once I won't put berries or honey or anything in it, just let this wonderful little pie speak for itself.

We'll also have a few Key Lime Pies at the market this Saturday, but only in whole pies, the crust won't allow little ones. So jump on them while they last! There's also going to be some quiche (new flavors!) and maybe, if we have time, cinnamon rolls.

Alright, y'all, see you at the Hope Artist Village tomorrow from 11-2. Hope you have a great weekend!
~Iris

Wild About You & Lime in the Coconut!

Hey all!

Sorry these posts have been a little sparse, just keeping it simple for the next few weeks.

This week we're previewing one of our Valentine flavors, Wild About You. This delightful pie is filled with dark chocolate, bananas and caramel. Cause, y'know, I'm wild about y'all. Sinfully good.

On the other hand, I'm missing the warm weather, and who isn't right now, so I'm bringing on board Lime in the Coconut. This is a lime, coconut and rum whip, so light and sunny you'll feel like you're on a beach. And who doesn't want to feel that?

Our Cutie Quiches this week are a feta with green onion, spinach and garlic (that's one) and the other is a tomato, basil Parmesan. If you want Cinnamon Rolls or Pecan Cinnamon Rolls, get their early while they are still hot and still around.

We'll be at the Hope Artist Village on Saturday from 11-2 on Saturday, right on Pawtucket. Holidays are over, feeling a little cold and dreary. I have to tell you, as a Southern transplant, I don't believe there's any time of year harder to keep your focus.

So with that, I'm striking out and focusing on what I love! And filling in a request (or two)

Tomorrow we'll be featuring a very classic, very traditional and very rich and creamy Chocolate Cream Pie. Yup. This is the lighter than air, richer than sin kind of stuff. I do go with a good classic once in awhile, and this is beyond classic. I can't have whipped cream on site, but the chocolate makes up for it.

We're also going to give in a little and fill the request for all those screaming for the Thai Green Tea Pie. Layered with green tea, lime and coconut, this is a pie I thought only I'd like, but lo and behold! It's loved by all. So come out, give it a shot!

We'll be at the Hope Artist Village in Pawtucket at the Winter Farmers' Market from 11-2. What makes tomorrow special is the weather is supposed to be beautiful, so come on out and say hey. Also Monday is a Holiday (Happy Birthday MLK!), so you might have a little more time on your hands to do all you want to. See you there!!
~Iris

Happy New Year!

Hey all!
Just a heads up, we will not be at the Winter Farmers' Market tomorrow. I'm curious to see how well it bakes and what exactly it'd do, so I'm going with that. There's also going to be something chocolate (maybe a Chocolate Cherry Whip? A Chocolate Carmel Puff? We'll see! It's a surprise, even to me!), both will be featured at the Hope Artist Village in Pawtucket this Saturday at the Farmers' Market from 11-2. Hope to see you there!

Now for the holidays....

I love holidays, as anyone can tell you. Any reason to get together with those you love or feel a bond with is a good reason, and an even better one to share a pie.

For this year you'll see some old Cutie Pie holiday favorites and a couple new on the menu. If there's something that really floats your boat, just give a shout and we'll make sure it hits your table. Here's the line-up:

Classic Pecan Pie - $25.00 You know it, you love it, nothing says Christmas like pecans!
He-Can Pecan - $25.00 As featured in the Thanksgiving Rhode Island Monthly issue. Decadent Chocolate Pecan Pie, sure to wow everyone!
Traditional Pumpkin Pie - $20.00 This classic isn't just for Thanksgiving!
Naughty Pumpkin Pie - $24.00 Pumpkin fused with brandy and covered in candied pecans. One of our best sellers and the best of both worlds.
Dutch Apple Pie - $22.00 This double crusted beauty is everything an apple should be, and a little more.
Jelly Mince Pie - $22.00 A sweet, jellied mince version of the traditional English Mince. Not for everyone, but just the right person.
Eggnog Pie - $20.00 Eggnog in a pie. A huge hit last year and we're happy to present it again. One of my personal favorites.
Sweet Potato Pie - $20.00 A sweet potato is the perfect potato, this pie screams love from the south.
MERI Mint Pie - $20.00 Rich and cream chocolate peppermint Schnapps with a peppermint swirl of colored sugar on top.

The last, but certainly not least, is our holiday charity pie. As most of y'all know we choose one charity that we, as a Cutie Pie family, believe in to support though our work. This year I'm proud to present the MERI Mint Pie in support of MERI or Marriage Equality Rhode Island. 25% of all proceeds from the MERI Mint will benefit the organization, so feel free to give this as a gift in someone's name or present it to your family with pride.

Our New Years Pies (which can also be ordered for other holidays, if you so choose) are as follows:

Mocha Cherry Jubilee Pie $24.00 Cherries under a layer of chocolate and coffee cream.
Espresso Chocolate Chip Pie $22.00 Sure to wake up anyone for their drive home!

Ordering
Due to expected volume we're accepting prepay only (cash, check and credit card via PayPal).
The last Day to order is December 22nd! There will be a $4 fee for any special dietary needs. You may call or email to order and talk to one of our happy Cutie reps, or place your order with MERI. You're welcome to place your entire order, not just the MERI Mint, with MERI, so feel free. We would suggest all credit card orders go that way.
For cutie Pies call 401 331-2414 or email cutiepiepies @ cox . net

Pick up is at Tina's Jamaican Caribbean Restaurant - 223 Atwells Ave. Providence from the 21st to the 24th.

Thanks so much, y'all and if there's any questions, don't hesitate to give a shout. We'll be at the Hope Artist Village in Pawtucket from 11-2 at the Wintertime Farmers' Market. Aside from Pecan Rolls and Quiche, we'll have some Buckeye Pie (sold out too quick last time, so we're reruning!) and Sweet Potato Pie. If there's any time I'll come up with something a little lush as an extra.

Thanksgiving!! I've been trying to post this, but haven't been able to, for some reason. Silly blogger! Bad blogger!

First off, get your order in by the 23rd! We're having pick-up from the 23rd until the 25th at Tina's Jamaican on Atwells Ave. That's at 223 Atwells, right across from the Blue Grotto. While it's open from 10-10, please indicate a time.

Payment. Give a call, we'll work it out with you. You can also email and get more info. We'll also work with your scedual and arrange your pickup time.

The menu! A little expanded this year. You'll see some old favorites and some new delights:

Double Dutch Apple ($22) - a fine, double crusted apple pie with a bit of vanilla crumble inside.

Traditional Pumpkin Pie ($20) - We all know it, we all love it. The Cutie Pie Pumpkin comes from pumpkins, not cans, so you'll have a much more round and full taste. Heavily spiced to knock you off your feet.

Naughty Pumpkin Pie ($24) - Our Traditional Pumpkin, fused with brandy and covered in candied pecans. This is a pumpkin so good it wants to be spanked! Our best seller from last year.

Chocolate Irish Cream Pie ($21) - Creamy chocolate cranked up a notch. Growing up this was the only thing my favorite uncle wanted, and with good reason.

Sweet Potato Pie ($20) - This southern classic (sweet, not savory!) is like mother's milk. If you like pumpkin pie but want something with a little more bite, here you go.

Roasted Pecan Pie ($25) - The house favorite. If you haven't had a pecan pie made by someone from south of the Mason/Dixon, you're missing out, y'all.

The He-Can Pecan ($25) - This is the richest chocolate pecan pie out there. The recipe was given to RI Monthly so y'all could make your own pies this season, but the demand has been staggering. This might knock the Naughty Pumpkin off the best seller list. Make your own or give a shout, we'll make it for you.

PARL Apple Peanut Butter Pie ($20) - The kids won't eat pecans? Hate Sweet Potatoes? Give them this. Each holiday we choose one charity to design a pie for, this Thanksgiving it is PARL, the Providence Animal Rescue League. 25% of all proceeds from this pie go to PARL. As many of y'all know I have a little rescue pug named Snorkels, and rescue is near and dear to my heart. As my pug loves apples and peanut butter, I figured the only pie more appropriate might have bacon in it. If this doesn't appeal to you, you can always donate to PARL directly.

So that's it, folks. Order early and often!! Give a shout and a Cutie rep will walk you through painlessly. Thanks so much, and stay thankful.
~Iris

Cutie Pies - Our Only Competition is Mom
401 331/2414
cutiepiepies@cox.net

Winter Market and Pumpkin Pie

Hey all!!

Just catching up over here... we've got the Pawtucket Winter Market opening tomorrow, and couldn't be more excited. We're doing things a little different this year, instead of being in the hallway we're inside a shop. Yes! A shop! We're right in the middle, left hand side, together with Tina from Tina's Jamaican. So awesome, right? We've stepped up from no shop to half a shop.

The pies this week... we're looking at an Apple Vanilla, bright happy apple with a touch of vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. Crisp, tart, sweet.

We've also got Classic Pumpkin Pie. I got a heap of pumpkins right after Halloween and have been boiling and straining ever since. Have you ever had a real pumpkin pie from a pumpkin? Why not start!

Last, I'm bring back a favorite, just for the open of the market, our now famous Buckeye Pie. Peanut Butter, chocolate, cream cheese whipped into a frenzy. This is a classic everyone loves.

We'll also have some Cutie Quiche, which has been a big hit, and our perfect Cinnamon Pecan Rolls. C'mon by and see us, and while you're at it, how about asking about our holiday pies? I'll get posting about that on Monday. Hope everyone's having a great fall and will see you soon!
~Iris

--
Cutiepies - Our only competition is Mom.
400 flavors, 9 crusts, and 3 sizes
at your local market or for home delivery.

BEST PIE IN RHODE ISLAND
- Providence Phoenix & RI Monthly 2009

(401) 331-2414 cutiepiepies@cox.net
http://www.cutiepiepies.blogspot.com/

Flavors this week

Announcing our tasty flavors this week. Deliveries will go out tomorrow night as planned, and we'll be back in full swing for next week's markets.
Thanks.
~Iris

Bad weather and broken ovens, Oh My!!

Hey all!

Sorry for no update last week. With all the bad weather we couldn't really get on out. Pie and rain do not mix.

Unfortunatly, we're having to call off our Weds. Brown Market this week as well. Why? It's called three hours to bake four trays. Unheard of!! Our oven, which was recently replaced, has decided to simply die. We'll have this little technical difficulty taken care of by Friday, we hope.

Which means we'll be at the Friday Downtown market!! With what, you ask? Well, a bit of a hodge podge. Look for some more Thai Green Tea Pie, it's been such a hit I've made it until my fingers are raw. We'll also have some pumpkin, cause 'tis the season, and a little Harvest Apple Pear.... also, because we did it for Perishable Theater this past Monday to much Cheer, Passion Pear. You'll have to come and take to see what exactly could make a pear passionate.

Alright, so that's it for now. If anyone needs delivery give a shout, and wish us luck on the ovens!

~Iris

Thai Green Tea Pie and, wait for it, Pumpkin!

Hey all! A little late, this week. Just figuring out the week.

Our Wednesday market was canceled (by me) because of foul weather. Many apologies, y'all, had no idea it would clear up like it did, though it was nasty all day.

Friday, tomorrow, we'll be downtown at the Burnside Park/Kennedy Plaza market from 11-2.

This Saturday is the next to last at Lippit Park, so if you haven't gotten down there, do so now! We'll be there from 9-4, and boy howdy, there's some awesome vendors there, other than yours truly.

Now to the pies.... ok, so I've been experimenting. Playing and having a wonderful time at it. My thought was that, seeing just how popular the Sweet Chai Pie has been, maybe a toe should be dipped into the other teas. In comes Thai Green Tea Pie. This is a soft, sweet green tea whip melded with a little coconut and just a hint of lime. I have, honestly, out freakin' done myself. I don't often say that, but this is a little bit of pie genius that I just can't wait to unleash on y'all.

Next we're going a little more classic. I know the wonky flavors aren't for everyone, so just to keep things cool there will be a nice, classic Pumpkin Pie. Y'all know what it is, no need to explain, but I will say the pumpkins I've gotten have been just divine.

Last, we'll have a little Apple Pie for the Saturday market. Yes, I know I don't always split flavors like that, but it's been requested and the Friday market's bake time is all set aside. So if you'd like a little classic Apple, give a shout or just head to the Saturday market at Lippit Park.

Hope everyone's having a great week, look forward to seeing y'all with a little extra Cutie Quiche, some cornbread and those killer Cinnamon rolls at the markets. If you don't come because of the holiday weekend, make sure you do something wonderful!
~Iris

Rain cancellation 10/2

Hey y'all!! A little pie update comin' at you.

This week we're featuring two wonderful little pies, both of which I truly love.

First off we've got Apple Oatmeal, a spicy, homey kind of pie that's all kinds of comfort food. Perfect combination of Apple Pie and Oatmeal cookie. Yupper, it's that good. And just in time for fall!

Next we've got a nice, rich, sweet favorite, Mocha Pie. A layer of coffee custard on the bottom with a layer of dark chocolate on top. This is perfect with a cup of coffee or an ice cold milk. Yes, I've done this before but it's been requested. As always I try to keep up with requests, so away we go.

Markets this week! We're at the Brown University Market tomorrow, Wednesday, from 10-2. This is in the quad right off George St., in front of the Ratty. You can find a map and directions at this link.

Friday we'll be at the Downtown Market at Burnside Park from 10-2. Once again you'll find directions at this link.

On Saturday we'll be back at Lippit Park, which is one of my favorites. From 10-4 you can look at wonderful handmade artwork and craft, get a pie (or quiche or cinnamon roll or cornbread or...) and even see the Saturday Farmer's market next door. Directions can be found here.

And last!! On Sunday, the Fourth, we've got a great little festival, it's the Family Fun Day at the URI Feinstein Providence Campus. That's right at 80 Washington St. This event is from 9-3, and aside from Cutie Pies there's going to be a whole lot of fun for the family. Along with a farmer's market there'll be face painting, pumpkin hunt, music, a magic show and lots more. Also Stella Marie Soap Company, my very favorite excuse to splurge, will be there. Once you've experienced her chocolate mint soap you'll be spoiled forever.

Alright, y'all, that's it! If anyone needs delivery let me know, otherwise we'll see you at the markets!
~Iris

Honeyed Pears in Dark Chocolate and Sweet Chai Pie

Alright y'all, you did it again!

Everyone has been requesting the Sweet Chai Pie all over again, so there you have it. Light, creamy, wonderful Chai Tea in a pie. Decident, but still leaving room for ice cream, this is now the most repeated Cutie Pie. Three whole times. Wow. At least to me, I tend to change it up.

As for our other pies, we've got a Honeyed Pear in Dark Chocolate. This sounds better in French, but it's way better in your belly. The pears are at their peak and I've been itching to use them, so here we are. This is also a very dark chocolate we've been getting from our friends over at Mast Bros. Chocolate. Don't let the beards fool you, these guys are serious!

For the rest of the week we'll be at the Downtown Market at Burnside Park, right across from Kennedy Plaza. You can go right to Farm Fresh for exact directions. This market runs from 11-2 on Friday.

On Saturday we'll be back at Lippit Park from 10-4, the Open Market is in full swing and there's tons of new vendors as well as some old favorites. C'mon out, it's going to be a beautiful day.

Also look for our Cutie Quiche, Pecan Cinnamon Rolls (with and without frosting!) and a little Cornbread. Next week we're going to start cracking out some Pralines.

Hope everyone is doing beautifully and enjoying this wonderful weather!
~Iris

Chocolate Raspberry and a Stinger!

Hey all!! Just a quick shout of this week's flavors.

Our pies of the week start with the very last good raspberries of the season, a Chocolate Raspberry Divine. Sweet, sensual, a classic that always pleases and sends mouths watering. Perfect to share with someonme special or gobble up all on your own!

Next we have something unusual, a Lemon Stinger Pie. As some of y'all might recall, Lemon Stingers were a popular cocktail in the 60's and then in the 80's. Since a lot of 60's fashion has come back, I've decided the Stinger should too, and designed a pie after it. Tart, sweet and a nice kick at the end, this will please everyone. At least those that drink a little alcohol, although it has burned off in the bake.

As a side note, I promised someone I'd have Chicago Blues for them last week, but with all the bad weather didn't see them. We'll have a little bit of that on hand as well.

We've also got two flavors of Cutie Quiche, Brocklie Cheddar and a Feta, Spinach, Garlic and Green Onion. I really need to start naming these quiche as well! We'll also have Cornbread and Pecan Cinnamon Rolls. Y'all now have the option of frosting, or plain!

The rest of this week's markets go something like this, there's Downtown at Kennedy Plaza tomorrow from 11-2, I know we've unexpectedly had some cancellations with this market, but I'll be there come hell or high water. We'll also be at the Open Market at Lippit Park on Saturday from 10-4. The big Hope St farmer's market will be on one side, the Open Market is on the other, right on Hope St., across from Chez Pascal.

Hope everyone's great, this should be a perfect weather weekend so get on out and see us while it's still beautiful!
~Iris

Rain cancel for Saturday Open Air Providence Market

With thunderstorms predicted for Saturday, I'm afraid that Cutie Pies will need to cancel on the Open Air Providence Market at Lippitt park. Thank all y'all that've sent best wishes for my mama, we're not out of the woods, but she is kinda better. Again, thanks, and I'll keep everyone updated.

So... this week.... this week is a very, very big week for us. We're opening the Brown University Market on Wednesdays from 11-2, this is a nice market, lots of folks and always a great energy. We'll still be at the Downtown Market on Fridays from 10-2, always a good time. But also this week is the Open Market at Lippit Park on Saturdays from 10-4. We typically get there way early for set-up, so any time after 8 is really alright for that market. This is our biggest market by far.

And the pie? What oh what do I have for y'all this week?

I've had a request for quite some time and have finally decided to fill it before the season is completely over. Our first pie of the week is Chicago Blues. This is a lovely little thing, chocolate crust, dark chocolate filling smashed with blackberries and blueberries. Very classic, believe it or not. This was a great favorite last year and I can't help but give in and bring it back.

Also this week we've got Caramel Apple Pie. Kind of a sidestep into normal for me, but it is getting to be fall, and what says fall better than apples in caramel? Simple and to the point.

We do have a wedding to cook for on Friday, after the market, so for this reason there will be no deliveries this week. If you'd like pick-up, that's available at Tina's Jamaican Restaurant. Just let us know you're coming and we'll have it there for you.
As always, thanks for supporting Cutie Pies and we'll see you at the markets!
~Iris

401 331-2414
cutie pie pies @ cox . net

Friday Market Sept 4th

This is Iris' partner Sean Shea with a letter to you about the markets for Cutie Pies in the upcoming week. Currently iris is sleeping after just having come back from dealing with her mother's ailment down in Florida.
As a result we are not going to be able to schedule kitchen time to bake for this Friday's downtown market (Sept 4th). We still expect to be doing the Brown U market on the 9th and downtown market next week on the 11th and the Open Market on the 12th.
Iris said to make sure I let you guys know she's doing Chicago Blues next week.
Hope everyone out there is well and in heath.
