Maria Mena with a new album

Starting this week off with a new album with Maria Mena the Norwegian pop singer who has had much success with her single Just Hold Me. She has released three albums in Scandinavia, Europe and one in the US with songs from the first two albums. In 2008, she released the song All This Time. Mena has performed for both The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and The Late Show With David Letterman.

Now she’s back in the studios ready to release her sixth album. Released by Sony Music Norway and mastering done by Björn Engelmann here at Cutting Room.

La Oreja De Van Gogh with new album

Sony Music Spain brings us an exceptionally well-regarded Spanish pop/rock band, La Oreja De Van Gogh to master their new album. It’s always a lot of fun to hear music outside of Sweden and this is no exception. They are one of the most commercially successful acts in the genre, with each of the band’s albums selling approximately a million copies worldwide. Mastering today with Björn Engelmann, here’s a video from a previous single “Dulce Locura”.

Ulf Lundell Roskilde Orange Stage double LP & CD

The historic concert Ulf Lundell fans continue to talk about is finally made into an album. It was at Roskilde in 1999 where he played the kind of concert people still talk about today. This double album is now on sale and can be purchased in most record stores, but the vinyl is a limited edition of only 800 copies. So, if you are a huge fan and want the vinyl, you better go get your copy right away before they are sold out. This double album was mastered right here at Cutting Room by our amazing Mats ‘Limpan’ Lindfors.

Björn’s Summer Memory

Even if we have been on vacations this summer, there’s many of us who were busy little bees in the studios. We catch up with the engineers and those who have been working during the summer to give you our “Sommarminne”!

Just before Midsummer, we had the MEGA Platinum Swedish pop artist since she released her remix of Swedish rapper Petter’s track “Mikrofonkåt” – yes, September was here with 7 new club mixes for Family Tree.

She performed at Allsång på Skansen, a national summer favorite, in June with “Party in my head” and of course “Mikrofonkåt”. To find out more about September go to her website.

Björn Engelmann, our cheif mastering engineer has been busy while the rest of Sweden enjoyed some much deserved time off. Some of the projects he worked on during Swedish Midsummer include a 3 track single for Teddybears.

An album for Ulrik Munther for Universal Music came in as well, while a single for The Moniker came in from Warner Music Sweden called “Drag you up”.

Stiko Per Larsson finished up his tour after the release of the album “Varken stjärna eller frälst” in April with mastering a new single just before Midsummer.

Coming to Björn from Cosmos Music Group was also Joddski with a new album of Norwegian Rap.

He finished up that week with another album for the Swedish rock group the Deportees.

September with New 7 Remixes

This multi-platinum Swedish artist is back in the studios and she’s got 7 new remixes under her pretty little arm for Björn Engelmann to master together with Family Tree. Petra Marklund, aka. September is bound for international superstardom.

Björn Engelmann mastered September’s latest album “Love CPR”, which sold GOLD after just one day only to go PLATINUM after just eight weeks after being released in Sweden. “Love CPR” has been on top of the Swedish charts since release day and is still going strong. Björn also mastered “Mikrofonkåt” which was #1 on the Swedish charts for 11 weeks and has sold 4 x Platinum. “Kärlekens Tunga” has also sold platinum.

The Bianca Story with a new album

The Swiss Electro-pop group, The Bianca Story is preparing for the release of an all new album. Working together with Björn Engelmann in the mastering studio, The Bianca Story is coming out of hiding after not updating their blog since February 2010.

“For months, specifically since February 2010, was her last blog entry “The bianca Story are under construction”. For once, this was not a succinct network cliché: the Basel art-pop quintet was actually in transition, and so much creativity, so much change and so much emotion as it has experienced over the last nine months, would survive almost any other band. Now breaks her silence The bianca Story: On 3 December 2010 the band released their new single “Coming Home” as a download and limited CD edition, the song is the first taste of the yet-untitled second album, due out in spring 2011. Recorded it was going to the famous Abbey Road studios, and the decision to London, demonstrates a new concept at The bianca Story. Until now it was much more than a regular band, it was a creative collective, whose members are also in performance, installation and multimedia groups were at home. The bianca Story 2010 is committed to playing honest music and pop songs that stir emotions and tell stories.”

Erika Jayne with a new Single “Ignite the World”

Erika Jayne is an American dance & electronica singer and performance artist. She’s had the rare success of having five of her singles land at number one on the Billboard Dance charts. Now she’s back with a new single titled “Ignite the World” mastered by Björn Engelmann which will be released with Pretty Mess Records in the US.

There’s a new independant record company here in the land of great music and producers called Clavicord and there you will find the producer Fredrik Sonefors.
Fredrik was in the studios mastering with Björn Engelmann for a track titled “Break Me Down” with Ely, which is released today. The exciting part is it’s already sitting at #2 on iTunes “Electronic top 10″.

Roxette Way Out Single Mastered with Limpan

The brand new video for the new single “Way Out” has premiered all over the world where parts of the video are recorded on the gigantic world tour Roxette are on right now. Our awesome Mats ‘Limpan’ Lindfors was the one who mastered this track for the Roxette duo. “Way Out” is going to be released in Germany on June 10. The B-side will be a live version of “Crash! Boom! Bang! / Anyone” recorded at Forest National, Brussels, October 22, 2001.

Chthonic Reveal Details Of New Album ‘Takasago Army’

Chthonic, the Taiwanese metal band led into action by bassist Doris Yeh, recently entered the studio to complete work on their new album, ‘Takasago Army’, scheduled for release via Spinefarm Records in June 2011. This album was mastered by Mats ‘Limpan’ Lindfors here at Cutting Room Studios.

Produced by Rickard Bengtsson (Arch Enemy, Nemesis, etc.) at Sweet Spot Studios in Halmstad, Sweden, this 10-track outing completes a trilogy of Chthonic releases, telling a story that binds together the band’s ‘Seediq Bale’ and ‘Mirror of Retribution’ albums, released in 2007 & 2009 respectively.

Doris says, “The Takasago Army was a Taiwanese troop of Japanese force/Axis powers that fought in the Pacific War/World War II between 1940-1944. The Takasago soldiers were descendants of a brave and powerful people from the mountains of Taiwan, people with a strong warrior tradition. They impressed their rivals with their cunning, tenacity and skill on the battlefield, and they became the most revered and most feared combat unit in the Japanese Imperial Army.”

At their recent UK shows (a Hammerfest appearance plus a headline date at the Underworld in London), Chthonic announced that ‘Takasago Army’ would not only see the band producing their most ‘brutal’ compositions to date, but would also see them further exploring the concept of ‘Orient Metal’. Explains Doris, “We have been categorized as Black Metal, Death Metal, Melodic Death, Symphonic Black Metal & Folk Metal by different critics, and we appreciate that it’s very hard to put us into a precise genre; on the one hand, we are inspired by some western metal music, but on the other, we are influenced by traditional Asian music forms, such as pentatonic scales, ‘enka’ music, and Taiwanese opera.

“When we were writing this new album, we tried to find the perfect balance between these two traditions, so that is why we’ve decided to use the ‘Orient Metal’ banner to define what we do. Plus, it provides a reference point for other Asian bands who want to head in the same direction…

“Take it from me, ‘Takasago Army’ is going to be epic!”

Chthonic are currently lining up festival shows for the Summer, after which ‘Seediq Bale’ will be re-issued via Spinefarm in expanded form. Reposted from Stereoboard.com
