Redwood City is located 27 miles south of San Francisco and 24 miles north of San Jose. Redwood City’s motto – ‘Climate Best by Government Test”, describes its relatively mild Mediterranean Climate.  It is the only deep-water port on the San Francisco Bay south of San Francisco itself.

The county seat of San Mateo County, it is home to the county government center.  Downtown Redwood City is a mix of old and new and features summer concerts on the plaza in front of the restored San Mateo County Court house which is now the San Mateo History museum.

The Fox Theater in Redwood City is home to Broadway by the Bay – the only musical theater group between San Francisco and San Jose.

Redwood City is a very diverse cosmopolitan city and home to large tech companies such as Oracle, Box, Electronic Arts, Evernote and Wealthfront.

San Carlos is about halfway between San Francisco and San Jose.  It is a small affluent residential town that aims for a “small town” feel.  The “City of Good Living” is known for its quaint downtown filled with shops and restaurants.  Every May San Carlos celebrates “Hometown Days” with a parade filled with local children and a carnival in the city’s largest park – Burton Park.  In October the Chamber of Commerce hosts the “San Carlos” Art and Wine Faire”.

San Carlos was the first city in California to open and charter school and its public schools rank consistently well in statewide lists.

Belmont is an affluent city on the San Francisco Peninsula.  Home to Ralston Hall, an historic landmark built by Bank of California founder, William Chapman Ralston that can be found on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur University and one of two surviving structures from the Panama-Pacific International Exposition – the other is the Palace of Fine Arts in San Francisco.

Education is provided by public and private facilities.  Students in Belmont receive education through two school districts – Belmont Redwood Shores for kindergarten through middle school and Sequoia Union High School district for High School.  Belmont is home to Carlmont High School and Ralston Middle School – both are Distinguished California Schools.

Menlo Park is one of the most educated cities in the State of Californian and the United States with nearly 70% of its residents having earned a degree.  Menlo Park is at the eastern edge of San Mateo County.  It is bordered by San Francisco Bay to the north and east; East Palo Alto, Palo Alto and Stanford to the south; Atherton, North Fair Oaks and Redwood City to the west.

Founded by two Irish immigrants in the 1850s.  The name Menlo Park is derived from the owners former home of Menlo in County Galway, Ireland and is an Anglicized version of the original Irish name of the place, Mionloch, meaning, “middle lake”.

The town grew up around the train station established in 1867, becoming a popular home for San Francisco businessmen.
