It's been a while...

So it’s been a while since our last post. For that we are sorry. However we have been busy bees working behind the scenes writing new songs and picking on Jon.

We really enjoyed our first gig of the year supporting Carmen at 2 Pigs Cheltenham, thanks to everyone who came along to listen! I would also like to take this time to publicly apologise to our bassist Harry, for telling everyone at the gig that he is gay and loves Chris Hemworth a little too much… he would like everyone to know that he has a really hot girlfriend (who is clearly in denial about her boyfriend ;P )… incase you haven’t guessed Harry has become one of us now and we’re so happy to have him onboard (why do we use this phrase we’re clearly not on a ship).

Lots of things are going on at Cynotia headquarters at the moment. Jon has started laying down the drum tracks for the second album and we’re getting excited to get it finished and released hopefully by the middle of this year.

We’re also very excited to be playing this Friday at the Old Bell, Gloucester for the Winter’s a Beach party. Also playing are the awesome Hired Guns, Last Night’s Victory and Joe Banyard. Hopefully it will be even better than the Tequila night last year. Although we feel like the tequila battle of the bands should be replaced by rum battles, we’ll see how it plays out.

We’re in the process of booking this years gigs and have some we will be announcing in the coming weeks so keep an eye on our events page for more info.

So we told you we had another announcement to make…
Please welcome our new bassist Harry Miller. We’re really excited to have him on board and cannot wait to gig with him. Our first gig with Harry will be 25th October at Sound Music Venue in Cheltenham, where we will be supporting the awesome Kill the Romantic! So come along and help us welcome Harry into Cynotia. We hope you’ll love him as much as we do… Cept don’t tell him we said that as it might go to his head and we already have to deal with Jon’s big head ;)

We are extremely saddened to have to announce that our bassist Liv will be leaving Cynotia. Everything is fine and we love her very much still, she didn’t storm out the room after telling us she hates our guts and it’s a completely mutual decision. She felt she needed to leave due to other work, life and love commitments. Although we’re sad to see her go we wish her all the luck in the world. We’ve loved playing gigs with her and it’s truly been a pleasure to share the stage with such a wonderful person.

Cynotia will continue to write music and blast you with noise from any stage we can throw our kit onto. We are really looking forward to the coming months that will be filled with finishing off the upcoming mini album and hopefully lots of gigs in between.

We also have another announcement to make so watch this space!

Heya! Thought it was long overdue that we update you with the happenings of Cynotia.

Firstly we would like to say sorry to anyone who had planned to come and see us support Welcome Back Delta in Dudley the other week. There was a small problem of a fire breaking out right after our sound check (yeah we know it’s cos we’re just to darned hot! ;P ). But everything is ok and the gig is being rebooked as I write. Details to come!

We’re currently working on the new EP. Which we are planning on releasing before the end of summer if all goes to plan. We had a little delay on it due to me [Selina] getting a sinus infection. Making recording a little tricky. But we are back on it and hopefully can throw it your way really soon. Along with a load of Merch we are ordering this week!

Me and Josh had the priveledge of appearing on the Stephen and Joe Show last week. Check out the video below to have a listen to another new song from the EP! (6 minutes in if you don’t want to listen to our wise words about Lara Croft.)

And lastly, tomorrow we head to London for a Bandwagon event at the Seabright Arms. We are really excited about it, but unfortunately Liv can’t make it! We do, however, have a good friend from Welcome Back Delta stepping in to play bass and pretend to be her. We’re hoping no one will notice the difference (I would like to point out that Joe is a Dave Grohl looking, Bearded man!).

So our guitarist thought to himself “you know what? I haven’t been around/hit on enough hot nurses this year!” and went and got kidney stones… Again!
So we have had to put a halt to writing the new stuff for the upcoming album this week. While Josh lies around being waited on (worrying about his yoghurts going off in his fridge) being felt up by young doctors (literally the hottest ones we’ve seen, it’s ridiculous! I swear they’ve started only employing the ones they’ve seen profile pictures for! Kudos to the NHS.) Anywho after Josh has finished faking it for attention we will be back on track. We’ve also got some gig announcements coming up soon!

The year is coming to an end. It’s been a very strange kind of year. It’s had ups, downs, little hilly bits with bows on, then a few spikes along the way as well as threat of an apocalypse ;) Yes I might have had a bit to drink whilst writing this but it’s Christmas so I can be forgiven…
So anyway, I thought we should let you all know what we’ve been doing and what we’re planning on doing as I realise we’ve been very quiet these last few months and not playing many gigs. That my pretties is because we’re in the process of writing our second album :) an album we’re very excited about. An album called “Courage and Teeth”. We thought as its cold and we’re all broke now would be the time to actually start putting it all together. So far we have 11 songs, 3 are complete and the others need our love and attention. We’re hoping to get it all finished by the end of March but we will keep you all posted.

I want to say thank you for an amazing year of music. Thank you to all the bands we shared the stage with, to all the people who let us inflict our noise upon them, to all the promoters and venues for booking us and to everyone who has inspired us along the way. We hope you all have a very very merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year. We’ll see your beautiful faces at future gigs and I’m sure partying it up over the holidays.

We're back and gigging...

Hey everyone! We’ll be back from our short time off from gigging as of Friday 21st September! We’re really looking forward to opening Frogfest tomorrow! This year there will be a total of 74 bands gracing the 3 stages at Frog&Fiddle in Cheltenham.

I (Selina) apologise in advance, as I seem to have caught man flu so I think there will be a new tone to our set ;) nothing is stopping us from getting back on that stage tomorrow… apart from if maybe the stage collapses, then the show will have to be on the floor.

We’re really looking forward to playing for your beautiful eyes and ears again and we also have some awesome gigs coming up after.

Friday 28th September - The Swan, Wantage

Saturday 27th October - Subtone, Cheltenham (1am)

Friday 2nd November - Stag and Hound, Bristol

Be great to see your faces there. We’re really looking forward to getting back on the gig bandwagon. See you all soon!

So everything that can go wrong has gone wrong. We finally reached practice in one piece after losing the car keys, leaving the kettle lead to the amp in the tiny fiat 500 that we squished into to get here and Jon’s bass pedal is so f****** that even an engineer can’t fix it :/ all in the name of music. Despite it all, we’re still very excited to be playing 2 pigs in Cheltenham tonight alongside Carmen! Just wonder what other gold nuggets are in store today…

Our drummer is an animal so we need to take a break ;)

So we think our last minute cover of Too Close by Alex Clare was blagged pretty well on Thursday night ;) we had a great time playing at Strange Enjoyment’s last gig. As usual the I, The Lion boys were on form! I think that was officially their sweatiest gig yet!
We’ve got 3 more gigs lined up before we have to take a short break so our drummer can save to get some new cymbals. The price we pay for choosing Animal as our drummer. Thanks for everyones support so far, we’ve loved playing for you and we’ll hopefully have some more new songs written when we get back on the road :)
Before we take a break we’ll be playing Base Studios again 3rd August in Stourbridge. Come along and we’ll probably attempt to butcher that cover again :)
