Servant Leadership vs Transformational leadership

Have been teaching a class on integration of faith and business this semester and I am learning a lot as I am teaching.

One key lesson is we can create an excellent organization by applying Biblical leadership principles. One of them being a servant leader. Serving our team to accomplish their goals. we need to have a balance between servant leadership and transformational leadership. Transformational leadership is focussed more on the goals of the organization whereas servant leadership is more focussed on the people.

Upbeat - Book Review

The author of Upbeat Rajesh Setty is a good friend and one of the most productive people I know. He has written his second personal development book and I can tell you that we can expect to see several more books from him.

Upbeat is a very easy read but packed with practical insights to stay upbeat irrespective of the economy or circumstance. It is the key to success. Our attitude will determine our altitude.

Rajesh covers this in several sections;

The Trap: This covers the concept of keeping our conversations positive. Life and death is in the power of the tongue. Also ensure that we are not ignoring our health.

The discipline: We need to maintain discipline to succeed. Nothing happens overnight. We need to be bold, stop doing unproductive things and demand more from ourselves.

The Network: Do not Network to just get that is most of the people. Network to help others first. The key metric is “extra capacity” that you add in the life of another person on your network.

The Strategy: Have a realistic plan, focus on the core problem and partner to eliminate the impact of your weaknesses.

The Action: After reading this section one quote comes to mind.

Rod Woodson 2009 ROD WOODSON PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME INDUCTION BENEFIT DINNER & AUCTION

Rod Woodson will be officially inducted into the Pro Football Hall of fame. Only 253 men have been so honored since professional football began back in 189.
There is a very special dinner and charity event happening on July 25, 2009 which will raise funds for Valley Christian High school in Dublin. I am posting this for my friend who is the Superintendent.
