Milani Mineral Blushes! (75% off at CVS)

Hey dolls and gents! Long time no blog post huh? I know. Anyways, I got a ton of goodies from CVS this weekend; mostly from the 75% off Milani Cosmetics sale. I have been a fan of Milani ever since I ordered some products on Cyber Monday. I will be doing reviews and swatches on all the products I got as I use them. I find a ton of great buys including nail polishes, mineral blushes, 3D lipglosses, lipsticks, and a liquid eyeliner. If you haven't already heard about this sale, head on over to your local CVS before it's all sold out!! Seriously!! Here's a picture of all the goodies I purchased from Milani...

I spent less than $12 dollars on all of those combined (including my $7 off in extrabucks)!

I first want to start by reviewing and swatching the mineral blushes for y'all. Milani's mineral blushes are amazing! I already owned Mai-Tai from my previous December Haul of Randomness video. It's such a gorgeous and pigmented matte blush that I wanted to try more. Since these blushes were only $1.75 at CVS, I knew this would be the perfect time to snag the rest!

I now own all 4 of the Milani mineral blushes. You can see the close-ups and swatches of each blush below.

All of the blushes show up well on my skintone except for Luminous. I use Luminous as a highlight rather than a blush on myself. If you are lighter than me, it can be used as a blush. I've heard that Luminous is a dupe for NARS Orgasm blush.

Where can I find this product: Any drugstore that carries Milani Cosmetics (I got mine from CVS) or online.

Retails: $6.99 at most drugstores, but I got mine on sale for $1.75 each

Claims: This product claims to provide a lightweight feel, natural healthy glow, true-color application and smooth finish.

Is that true: ABSOLUTELY! These blushes are amazing and live up to all the previous claims. I'm not much of a blush gal, but these blushes are making me crave more!

The Good: Great pigmentation (a little goes a long way), blends seamlessly, affordable price, colors are universal for most skintones

The Bad: I think these blushes have been discontinued! I no longer see them available on the Milani Cosmetics website. =(

Overall Thoughts: I love these blushes and would definitely recommend them to you especially if you can find them at CVS for 75% off!

Soapy Luv Goodies!

Hey dolls and gents!! This is a long overdue blog post on some soaps I was sent from Soapy Luv months ago. The owner of Soapy Luv, Zakiya, is a long time subscriber of mine and twitter friend. If you love Lush, you will definitely love her uber moisturizing and deliciously scented soaps. Zakiya hand makes each soap and ensures that it has the best ingredients.

I was sent 4 soaps and 1 solid lotion bar to test out and give my overall thoughts on. Honestly, I have no complaints with her soaps nor the solid lotion bar. Each one smelled great and left my skin clean yet moisturized. However, my absolute favorites of the 5 products sent was the Lemon Bar and Buttercreme solid lotion bar.

Price: $5 for each bar of soap (and she gives you a generous amount!) and $4.50 for each solid lotion bar

Soapy Luv is currently having a free shipping promotion with any order over $10 until October 31, 2011! Definitely a great time to try out any soaps that you had your eye on.

Let's start off with my favorite soap, the Lemon Bar, which is made of shea butter and sea salt. It has a very pleasant lemon scent. This soap was the best of both worlds. One portion of the bar was moisturizing, while the other side was a great exfoliator. This soap left my skin feeling clean and smooth. It's definitely a must-try if you buy anything from her website!

Next lets talk about the Blueberry Swirl soap, which is made of sweet almond oil and goat's milk. This soap was the most moisturizing of all the soaps that were sent to me. I'm not a fan of blueberries, but I really enjoyed the smell of this soap. If you have dry skin, this would be a great soap for you!

Now lets move on to the Chocolate Vanilla Sundae soap, which is made of sweet almond oil and goat's milk. Again, this is a very moisturizing soap and is perfect for dry skin! If you are a fan of chocolate, you will definitely love it's sweet smell. But beware, you might crave chocolate after using this. hehe.

The last soap that I was sent was the Rose Mimosa soap, which is made of rose buds and mango butter. This was my least favorite of the 4 soaps, but mainly because I do not like floral scents. The soap is again very moisturizing and is great for very dry skin!

I also received her Buttercreme Lotion Bar, which is made of shea butter, cocoa butter and mango butter. This lotion bar leaves the skin feeling soft, conditioned and glowy. I love the feeling of the lotion bar on my dry skin!

As you can see, none of her soaps left my skin feeling dry and every time my skin was left clean and moisturized! Thanks again to Zakiya for sending these soaps for review. Picking out your Perfect Foundation.

Hey dolls and gents! This post corresponds directly with my latest YouTube video on picking out your perfect foundation. This has got to be the most asked question I get through emails, comments, and private messages. Foundation is one of the most important parts of a makeup routine; it comes second to skin care (because if your skin isn't good, makeup won't look good on it). Foundation is uber important because it sets the canvas for the rest of your makeup. How can someone look at your gorgeous eye makeup, or lips when your foundation is blotchy, ill matched, super oily or uneven. There are several factors that need to be addressed for you to pick out your perfect foundation. Please watch my video below along with the notes on this post for more details.

"Finding your Perfect Foundation"

I knew it would be just as important to write out in full detail everything I explained in the video for my visual learners. The video is more geared toward my auditory learners. I had to write notes before recording to ensure that I stayed on subject and covered every topic; gosh, I can be such a nerd... Anyways, lets get into the main factors that one needs to address when picking out the right foundation.

As I stated in the video, I won't be focusing on any particular foundation or brand because that's not what this post is about. Once you discover the answers to all these questions, you will easily be able to determine with brand and foundation is perfect for you.

My 6 factors of picking out your perfect foundation shade:

1. What is your skin type? (Dry, Combination, Oily, or Normal)

First, you need to determine your skin type. The 4 different skin types are dry, combination, oily and normal. Oily skin produces more sebum(oil) than normal skin; you tend to look shiny by the end of the day. You definitely want a mattifying or powder foundation. Dry skin tends to have patches, flaking, and blotchiness. Moisturizing foundations like creams, liquids, and balms are best for this skin type. Combination skin means that the T-zone is oily, while the outer face is dry. This skin type can wear any foundation as long as the T-zone is set with a powder to reduce oiliness in that area. I actually forgot to mention the last and most obvious skin type in my video, which is normal. This mean that your skin is neither oily or dry. You can pretty much use whatever foundation you would like. Lucky you! =)

2. What is your skin's undertone? (Warm, Cool, or Neutral)

Secondly, you need to know what your skin's undertone is. As I explained in the video, I like to look on the underside of my arm to determine whether it's more yellow (cool) or warm (red). Warm shades tend to be more peachy, orange and red, while cool shades tend to be more grey, olive and yellow. Some people fall in between the two undertones of cool and warm, they aren't really red nor yellow, and these people have a more neutral undertone. This is one of the hardest things to match in a foundation, so once you figure out your undertone, everything is should fall into place.

3. What kind of finish/consistency do you want? (Powder, Liquid, Cream, or Tinted Moisturizer)

Thirdly, you need to decide what type of foundation finish works best with your skin type. I briefly discussed this when I talked about skin type previously. A powder is a matte foundation that can be pressed, loose, or in mineral form. You can use a powder if you have oily, combination or normal skin. A liquid foundation can be runny or thick in consistency; it can be water (dry skin) or silicone (oily skin) based. You can use a liquid if you have oily (matte), combination (satin), dry (dewey), or normal skin. A cream foundation is thick or mousse-like in consistency and tends to be found in a jar or compact. You can use a cream if you have normal or dry skin. You can use a tinted moisturizer on dry (balm), oily, normal, or combination skin.

4. What kind of coverage do you need? (Light, Medium, or Full)

Depending on the condition of your skin and preference, you will want to choose the coverage of your foundation. If you have pretty good skin, you'll want a light coverage foundation like a tinted moisturizer or mineral powder foundation. If you have a couple of blemishes, pimples, or dark spots, you will want a medium coverage foundation like a liquid foundation or 2-in-1 powder foundation. If you need a lot of coverage (ance scarring, birthmark, pimples, etc.), you should go for a more full coverage foundation like buildable liquid or a thicker cream foundation. I know there a some people with great skin that want a full coverage foundation or some with not-so-great skin that want a light coverage foundation to allow their face to breathe. So, please choose which coverage works best for your preferences and skin's condition.

5. Do you need a long-wearing foundation?

This question is really up to your lifestyle. Do you work long hours? Do you not feel like touching up your makeup all day? Then go for a long-wearing foundation! Now if you have dry skin, you might want to stay away from these because they tend to be matte foundations, which makes the skin appear drier.

6. Do you need a foundation with SPF (sun protectant) in it?

Again this depends on your lifestyle...if you are wearing this foundation for everyday, then you definitely want a foundation with SPF to protect your skin from the sun; if you don't, you could make your scars/dark spots darker, and create premature wrinkles! You don't want that! Now if your moisturizer has SPF in it, you don't have to worry about having a foundation with one. If you are wearing a foundation to a photoshoot or plan to take any pictures with it on, you want to make sure it doesn't have SPF in it because it will cause a white cast on your face in all the photos! No bueno!

Once you can answer all those questions, you can go to Sephora, Bobbi Brown, MAC, Benefit, Chanel, etc. and ask the MUA there for help on choosing the perfect foundation for you. Or you can even read up on different foundations and find the one that will best fit you based on the answers to these questions!

Hey dolls and gents!! I know...I know, I've been neglecting my website again. I think I've finally figured out my schedule, so this shouldn't be an issue anymore. I haven't been on my website in so long that I didn't even know I reached over 1000 followers on here! YAY! How have all of you been? Hopefully well! I want to welcome all old and new readers to my website. I have a lot of upcoming things for you all; I hope you will enjoy it!

I just filmed a haul video for my YouTube channel on some beauty related goodies that I picked up within the last week. I went shopping with my friend, Linda, on Friday night and we had a lot of fun! I also did some shopping damage on my own. I shopped at ULTA, Clinique, Sephora, Forever 21, Wal-mart, Walgreens, Perfumania, and more. I just realized I forgot to show you the clothing I picked up at Forever 21, but I'll save that for another time. If you would like to see what I hauled, feel free to watch the video below:

Hey dolls and gents!! I just uploaded a makeup tutorial on my youtube channel for this look. I hope that y'all enjoy it! This is a fall-inspired tutorial with a bit of fun added...GLITTER eyeliner. Glitter is such a pain to clean up and get off at the end of the day, but it adds so much attention to a look! Don't you agree?

Affordable Makeup Brushes for Beginners.

Hey dolls and gents!! I am sorry for not posting any blogs this weekend! I got so busy...that's definitely not a good start to my daily blogging, right? Anyways, I will make it up to y'all.

I thought I would do a blog post on my top five most affordable, yet good quality makeup brush brands.

(1) Sigma Beauty
I have 2 makeup brush kits from Sigma Beauty: complete brush roll kit w/ roll ($99) & premium brush roll kit w/ roll (currently on sale for $139). Each kit contains completely DIFFERENT brushes, so having both would definitely be a plus. However, if I had to recommend one over the other, I would say go with the premium brush roll kit because it has more brushes and I find myself reaching for it more often then the other. I have done a review on the original complete brush roll kit on my youtube channel. I'll include the video down below. Sigma's brushes are often compared to MAC brushes, but for a fraction of the price. I've never had a Sigma brush tear/break on me and I use them on an everyday basis. I would definitely recommend these brushes to those of you looking for a full kit of great-quality brushes at an affordable price.

(2) Sonia Kashuk @ Target
The first makeup brush I ever purchased was from Sonia Kashuk and I still love the line to this day. You can buy her brushes online or in-store at Target. Some of my favorite brushes from this line are: medium eyeshadow brush ($5.99), crease eyeshadow brush ($5.99), & bent eyeliner brush ($5.99). I really like her eye brushes; I haven't tried any of her face brushes.

(3) Studio Tools @ Target
These brushes, like the Sonia Kashuk line, are also available at Target, but are much cheaper than the Sonia Kashuk brushes. These brushes are very beginner-friendly at a cheap price. I have several of the pointed crease brushes (they are my favorite!). I have every single brush from this line and would recommend each one! These brushes range in price from $1.99 to $6.99 each! The downside to these brushes is that you can only purchase them in-store and NOT online.

(4) ULTA Professional
I love makeup brushes from ULTA professional, which can be purchased in-store or online at ULTA. However, not many people talk about this line and I feel like it needs more acknowledgement. Now ULTA professional brushes aren't the cheapest, but they are the cheapest high-end brand of brushes that I own. They are more comparable to MAC brushes than Sigma, but they are also more expensive than Sigma brushes. I really like the face brushes in this line: fan brush, foundation brush, and highlighting powder brush. Their brushes range in price from

(5) ECO Tools
These brushes are great-quality, affordable and eco-friendly! You can't beat that! These brushes can be purchased online or in-stores at drugstores/grocery stores/etc. The brush handles are made from bamboo and the bristles are synthetic fibers. I love their foundation and concealer brushes! Liquid products, like foundation and concealer, are great to use with synthetic brushes. I personally have the brush roll set, which can be purchased for around $9.99, and it comes with 5 brushes!

A Fresh Start!

Hey dolls and gents!! I'm so happy to be back writing a post on my website. I reformatted my website a bit and you might have noticed that I deleted all of my previous posts. I just felt like I wasn't giving my all on my website and I wanted a fresh, clean start. I plan to post daily (in the morning everyday) on different beauty/hair/fashion related things. I hope that you will enjoy my daily posts and that y'all will become more involved on my website. Thanks for following my blog even though I've been doing a crappy job at updating it.
