Primero debo reconocer que el articulo no es mio pero encontré bien interesante, con bastante lógica, harto sentido común y con cierta tesis científica como para no andar diciendo que los gringos son los causantes de los terremotos.

Desde el terremoto que sucedió en Haití hace unos meses y con el reciente terremoto en Chile hace unos días han saltado todo tipo de teorías conspiratorias relacionadas a los motivos por las cuales se dieron estos movimientos telúricos en estos países y con poco espacio entre uno y otro.

La gran mayoría de teorías sin base científica, investigación o tan si quiera razón se centran en el HAARP (High Frequency Active Auroral Research Program) que se trata de un un programa científico y militar de investigación sobre la ionosfera impulsado por la Fuerza Aérea, la Marina de los Estados Unidos, el DARPA (Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency) y la Universidad de Alaska. Su principal objetivo es el estudio es mejorar las radiotelecomunicaciones y sistemas de vigilancia como la detección de misiles.

¿Por qué la ionosfera?
Debido a la permanente fotoionización en esta capa de la atmósfera provocada por la radiación solar, es el principal responsable de que podemos enviar señales de radio al cielo para que estas reboten, puedan viajar a grandes distancias y puedan ser escuchadas en otras partes de la Tierra.

Estos días el internet está plagado de sitios llenos de explicaciones complicadísimas (pero sin base o sustento científico) acerca de los peligros que representa HAARP para nuestro planeta. De cómo Estados Unidos está probando su nueva arma de destrucción masiva por diferentes motivos, los más comunes:

Una forma de demostrarle al mundo su poder
Intereses económicos en la región y un desastre es la mejor excusa para ocupar la zona
Intentos de atraer la atención en países pobres como HaitÍ (la teoría más descabellada)

La casualidad favoreció a que los habituales conspiranóicos reforzaran sus teorías con el terremoto de Chile, inclusive aportándolo como una prueba de la existencia del poder destrctivo de esta supuesta arma.

El principio de la Navaja de Occam dice que cuando dos teorías tienen las mismas consecuencias, debe preferirse la teoría que postule la menor cantidad de (tipos de) entidades; es decir, la explicación más sencilla suele ser la correcta y la realidad es que el HAARP no es destructivo, no es un arma secreta, no es misterioso, no es peligroso, no manipula la mente humana, no modificará el clima, no desestabiliza los sistemas agrícolas, no causa huracanes, maremotos o terremotos. Son solo una serie de antenas posicionadas en Alaska que envían señales de radio a la atmósfera.

El proyecto HAARP tampoco es nuevo, ha funcionado desde 1990, no es ultrasecreto: tiene una web lleno de fotografías donde indican la posición exacta (latitud y longitud) de la estación, es posible verlo desde Google Maps y sobre todo: todos los años abren sus puertas para que visitantes puedan conocer las instalaciones y encontrarse con algunos de los científicos que participan en las investigaciones realizadas ahí. Esto sucede desde hace 15 años.

De hecho el proyecto HAARP no es clasificado, ninguno de los documentos producidos durante la investigación están restringidos al público en general (como otras operaciones militares). Todas las investigaciones realizadas en HAARP son de caracter público y pueden ser consultadas por cualquier persona.

HAARP por definición no puede modificar el clima: la energía transmitida hacia la ionósfera no es absorbida por la tropósfera o la estratósfera, las dos capas de nuestra atmósfera donde se producen los fenómenos climatológicos. Toda la interacción electromagnética se produce cerca del espacio, a unos 70 kilómetros de altura. A esas alturas la influencia de los rayos del Sol son inmensamente más potentes que cualquier emisión electromagnética hecha por unas antenas en la Tierra, por lo tanto, si la turbulencia ionosferica causada por el Sol no es capaz de crear estragos climatológicos en nuestro planeta, mucho menos lo puede causar HAARP.
