A Statement from Matt and Trey

In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.

South Park is equal opportunity - the show makes fun of everyone and everything - Comedy Central, shame on you!

Jews, Christians and dare I say, Scientologists, have been regular targets of the show's ingenious creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker - there is no reason Muslims should be spared!

This fanatical "Revolution Muslim" group shows just how out-of-touch jihadists are with reality. In the midst of making light of the Muslim faith, the South Park creators are also mocking Americans for the way average citizens get themselves all up in a tizzy over the mere mention of Muhammad or Allah - duh. If anything, these losers, who apparently are based out of NY, should be showering the South Park gurus with roses and chocolates.

Schumer Finally "OY'ed" the President

President Obama continues to show us that he is NOT a student of history.

Failing to realize that the fruits of FDR's massive social welfare programs were not so sweet in the long-run, as he pushed Obamacare through Congress, was hint numero uno.

Refusal to understand that pushing a two state solution with the Israeli "Peace Process" has led to numerous dead-ends for decades is the latest indication that President Obama prefers fiction over fact, or, just lives in denial.

Last month the President and his henchmen, uh hem, Cabinet et. al., BLASTED Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his Cabinet for "tarnishing" Vice President Biden's visit to Israel (to add his own two cents to the "peace talks") with the announcement of additional building of Jewish housing in Jerusalem. Aside from being disgusting, wrong, and ill-advised, the course of action the Obama Administration chose to take was just plain stupid.

Since that time a multitude of Jewish organizations (including many left-leaning ones) have criticized the President for his inexcusable actions related to this incident.

A few weeks ago, as covered in the New York Times by Mark Landler and Helene Cooper, "Mr. Obama said conflicts like the one in the Middle East ended up “costing us significantly in terms of both blood and treasure” — drawing an explicit link between the Israeli-Palestinian strife and the safety of American soldiers as they battle Islamic extremism and terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan and elsewhere."

It's just been getting worse and worse.

Finally, oh dear god FINALLY, New York Senator Chuck Schumer temporarily relinquished his lap-dog status and stood up to his master in command and told the President how he really feels, calling the President's Israel Policy "counterproductive."

As all New Yorkers and everyone who works in and with Congress know all too well - Senator Schumer has never met a bully-pulpit he doesn't like and I'm just glad he finally mustered enough courage to actually represent his LARGE Jewish constituency throughout the entire state of NY and tell President Obama what's what.

The Politico ran a great piece yesterday by Ben Smith, I've pulled out some key excerpts:

"I told the President, I told Rahm Emanuel and others in the administration that I thought the policy they took to try to bring about negotiations is counter-productive, because when you give the Palestinians hope that the United States will do its negotiating for them, they are not going to sit down and talk," Schumer told Segal. "Palestinians don’t really believe in a state of Israel. They, unlike a majority of Israelis, who have come to the conclusion that they can live with a two-state solution to be determined by the parties, the majority of Palestinians are still very reluctant, and they need to be pushed to get there."

Schumer described the recent confrontation over construction in Jerusalem as a "kerfuffle."
"Israel apologized and when Biden left, and Biden is the best friend of Israel in the administration [and] everything was fine," Schumer said. "But then what happened is the next day Hillary Clinton called up Netanyahu and talked very tough to him, and worse they made it public through this spokesperson, a guy named Crowley. And Crowley said something I have never heard before, which is, the relationship of Israel and the United States depends on the pace of the negotiations."

"You have to show Israel that it’s not going to be forced to do things it doesn’t want to do and can’t do. At the same time you have to show the Palestinians that they are not going to get their way by just sitting back and not giving in, and not recognizing that there is a state of Israel," Schumer said. "And right now there is a battle going on inside the administration, one side agrees with us, one side doesn’t, and we’re pushing hard to make sure the right side wins and if not we’ll have to take it to the next step."

I'm just waiting for Rahm Emanuel to finally throw his arms up in the air, realize he is working for someone whose foreign policy platform includes the destruction of Israel and the dethroning of the USA as a global powerhouse...quit...and expose President Obama. It's just a matter of time.

The Red Rising

Of course, all it took to unearth the Rogue was the slightest inkling of a Communist uprising in the near-east and my obsession with the evil that is Hugo Chavez, thus forcing me to scour through my hectic schedule and find a few minutes here and there to start blogging again...go figure.

There is a group calling themselves "Maoists," officially the Unified Communist Party of Nepal, currently stalking and killing Indian soldiers, gorilla-style. How is it that no one is hootin' and hollerin' about the fact that there is a Communist uprising in Nepal, which borders both India and China???? Where are you talking-heads of MSNBC, CNN, and Fox? Is Tiger Woods really that important to you that you have no time left in your day to research a red rising?

I actually had to rely on a BBC update to let me know what is happening!

According to the BBC. "Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has described the Maoist insurgency as India's "greatest internal security challenge".

From blogs of Rogue's past, you can easily infer that I believe Venezuela's dictatorial "President" Hugo Chavez to be the smoking gun that is getting ready to shoot down the west (and by the west, I mean the USA, and any Jews and Christians his new-found allies hate), albeit with a slow and drawn-out discharge.

As Chavez and his crazy train continue to unite Communists, influence fellow dictators in dilapidated third world nations, and make friends with the likes of the insane Iranian mastermind Ahmadinejad, I am sure Nepal's Maoists will soon be BFF's (aka best friends forever) with Iranian extremists too!

Russia is in Chavez's boot camp. You don't believe me? Check out this San Francisco Chronicle posting from earlier in the week regarding Vladimir Putin's Press Conference with Chavez. As Joe Weisenthal so eloquently puts it, "Putin comes right out and says: if the US won't sell weapons to Venezuela, we will!"

Chavez is in Iran's boot camp. You don't believe me? Check out this Associated Press article from a few years ago. "Here are two brother countries, united like a single fist, " Chavez said upon his arrival in Tehran, according to Venezuela's state-run Bolivarian News Agency."

Will Islamic extremists start defining themselves as "Communists" fighting for the plight of underrepresented countrymen who are being ignored by their nation's economy (such as the Maoists in Nepal), thus appealing more and more to liberals in the west? Perhaps with the USA's own current trend towards historically socialist principles, these extremists realize that they have a unique opportunity to completely hose westerners. I can only hope we have learned some kind of lesson from the Cold War.

President Obama is signing the ever so doomed nuclear treaty this week - he does not understand the Cold War and that the fear of a nuclear strike is what kept other nations from attacking the USA and its allies. Now nations like Iran, China, Russia, Venezuela - they no longer have a need to feel threatened.

To quote one of the few men in modern-day politics who is NOT afraid to say what he actually thinks (whether you agree with his positions or not, that's a fact), according to Mayor Rudy Giuliani in an interview earlier this week with National Review Online:

“A nuclear-free world has been a 60-year dream of the Left, just like socialized health-care. This new policy, like Obama’s government-run health program, is a big step in that direction.” “The president doesn’t understand the concept of leverage,” Giuliani continues. “He’s taken away our military option and it looks like he would prevent Israel from using a military option. He also hasn’t gotten Russia or China to agree. With Russia, he should have made them put their cards on the table. Instead, like with the missile shield, he gave up and got nothing for it. He negotiated against himself. That is like reducing the price of your house before you get an offer.”

I don't know about you, but this Rogue is considering investing in some kind of bomb shelter, I just hope I can find one with hardwood floors and stainless steal appliances.

DC Council...for Hire

Have you heard? DC Councilman Jim Graham (D-Ward 1) is for hire!

Graham, Chair of the Committee on Public Works and Transportation here in our nation's capital, has been caught on tape, finally.

According to Channel 9 News here in DC:
"Sources tell 9NEWS NOW that the FBI probe includes alleged bribes at the DC Vehicle Inspection station in Southwest.

Back in April 9NEWS NOW disclosed that cab drivers were leaving twenty dollar bills in the ash trays of their vehicles.

Some inspectors were taking the bribes as payment for overlooking deficiencies on the cabs that should have earned them a rejection sticker.

A second part of the FBI probe centers on City Hall. On Thursday the FBI arrested Ted Loza, chief of staff to DC Councilman Jim Graham.

Loza is charged with accepting trips, gifts and bribes of 15 hundred dollars in exchange for legislation introduced by Graham that favored certain cab companies.

...Sources close to the FBI probe tell 9NEWS NOW that Councilman Graham is also a target of the probe."

The Washington Post, DC GOP, and many other credible sources have stayed on top of this developing story as well.

Here's the kicker - the head of the DC Cab Commission is the smoking gun that informed local law enforcement of the bribes being offered ($150,000)!

You might remember Councilman Graham (and his signature bow-tie) as scene all over the news with regards to the DC Metro tragedy earlier this summer when 9 individuals lost their lives and countless others were injured in the Metro's most horrific accident to date.

Councilman Graham is also Chair of the Metro Board. Sadly, the accident turned into a catalyst for change within the Metro system (although, only a tiny one). As investigations continue we are learning about how incredibly bad Metro has been managed.

Oh, and there was that time, right after the accident, that the Councilman admitted he had not even taken a ride on the Metro in over a year...

It's time for this guy to go. I really hope the Democrats in Ward 1 strongly support a qualified opponent in the next primary and oust this criminal. It's true, he's innocent until proven guilty in a court of law with regards to the FBI probe regarding taxi cab bribes - but he has already proven carelessness during his tenure as Chair of the Metro Board.

I'm jumping out of my seat. Of course, my "favorite" South American dictator extraordinaire, President Hugo Chavez, is welcoming the babbling Gadhafi to court with a big fat hug!!!! Like I've been saying, for far too long now, Chavez wants world domination and he's going to keep hammering away at it one crazy dictator at a time, until they are ALL under his umbrella and he can then attempt to wreak havoc on all things democratic.

Stop Iran? Oh yes we can!

Yesterday I stopped by the rally organized by the DC Jewish Community Relations Council to denounce President Ahmadinejad and a nuclear Iran. The rally was coordinated to coincide with the ever delusion Iranian President's speech in front of the Useless Nations...uhem, United Nations, in New York.

Checkout this write-up from the local Fox affiliate that covered the event....

My take on the rally? It was a great idea, it received a decent turnout, but it could have been WAY better. JCRC - if you're listening - here are some "rally 101" tips for next time:

Have some young and energetic supporters (read: college students) scouring the crowd and handing out supportive literature, tons of it
Encourage participants to come with their own signs so it doesn't look like a sea of the same signs clearly provided by the sponsoring organization - this will show there is diversity in your support and that the outcry is being driven from the bottom up
Appearance is everything - this crowd was 90% Jewish (and visibly so) - you need to show diversity...and why weren't there groups of Persians (Jews and otherwise) represented? They are protesting all over the country and I personally know networks that would have supported this rally
The George Washington University campus is 10 minutes walking distance from the rally site and the school houses a HUGE Jewish population amongst its student body - why weren't they recruited to attend (all you gotta do is throw the promise of free pizza their way and they will follow)? This rally could have easily been 4 times the size - next time organize a "poster party" at the campus' Hillel so the students can make creative signs and set a meeting time for an hour before the rally, feed em, and walk over to the event site together
It's not just about the experts, it's about the energy - JCRC's Executive Director, Ron Halber, was bar far the best speaker - the experts present are impressive on paper, but they aren't motivating - a "celebrity" of sorts wouldn't hurt either...this is DC, everyone knows someone at least semi-famous

But hey, enough with the complaining - the JCRC is to be commended for actually doing something and attempting to mobilize Washingtonians to speak out against what's happening with Iran and call for our own elected leaders to act accordingly. They even partnered with a bundle of local organizations to build support, though sadly I don't think these organizations did enough to mobilize their own members, so they do get a big "shame on you" from the DC Rogue.

We all need to be a little less lazy and a lot more motivated - Iran is a serious threat, and so is socialism....make yourself heard!!!

Cash for Clunkers is the new Fannie Mae: today's new car will be tomorrow's repo

I would reallllly like to know where President Obama is hiding his garden of money trees and how I can acquire one of my own…I may not have a garden to house it in, but I’ll sure as hell find one. Then I too will be able to start dolling out “relief” money left and right to boost my personal approval ratings – who wouldn’t want to be my friend then?!

This “Cash for Clunkers” (from now on referred to as CFC in this post) program is big, fat mess.

It is also impossible to defend the process behind the legislation. The bill was clumsily attached to a military spending measure for Iraq and Afghanistan, that is how the original one squeaked through and now we are openly supporting the additional $2 bullion that Congress just approved.

I could do nothing but shake my head to and fro yet again when I read an article CNN Money posted today about how the government is essentially distorting sales figures from CFC, whether it’s because of inefficiency or lack of foresight, or the result of intentionally shifty reporting, we may never know.

The independent reporting of the actual sales numbers related to the CFC program are showing that Americans are trading in their old clunkers for new ones – they are buying more SUVs! Mr. President, how does that egg all over your face taste? Do you prefer them scrambled or sunny side up with a side of spilled milk?

There are so many issues with CFC that I’m not quite sure where to begin, and even more confounded that Congress just threw an extra $2 billion at this fiasco.

I realize there are lots of smart people working for the Administration, including the President himself, so I’m having a really hard time understanding why none of them seemed to be learning from history.

CFC is basically shoving people who can’t really afford to buy new cars into dealerships, encouraging them to trade in their “old cars” (many of which are still in perfectly good and usable condition), requiring them to pay FULL MSRP (Manufacturer’s recommended price, which buyers rarely pay), and thus taking out brand new car loans they likely can’t afford down the road………….this is sounding a LOT like all those home loans and housing foreclosures we have been dealing with, doesn’t it? Call me sillier than a billy goat, but didn’t we JUST learn about the dangers of encouraging people to spend more than they have in order to purchase larger-than-needed houses?

Now let’s turn our attention to “the little guy” – the small business owner trying to feed his family, employee members of his community, and provide quality and affordable transportation for his neighbors and their kids…..the dealership owner.

Typically, most dealers make their money on the sale of USED cars, not new ones. CFC requires that you turn your “clunker” in, the dealership must then put a special chemical in the engine to ensure it’s un-drivable after that and then it’s destroyed. This means no more deals on trade-ins for the dealership owners, greatly depleting the influx of used cars. This of course is bad for the dealer, but it’s also bad for the consumer – those who can’t afford new cars (uh hem, yours truly) won’t be able to find any and at a reasonable rate when it’s time for me to buy one.

Ooh ooh, it gets better…

It takes all day to get a deal into the government computer and dealers now have all their money tied up in these sales and their cash is dried up until the government pays them, now when the government finally gets its act together plenty of dealers are going to find they are not getting funded for these loans as the government does not have the money, and the people have to sign a release that if the government does not give the dealer the money they have to pay the $4500 back to the dealer. In the past if a loan is reversed the person gets a call from the dealership and is told to bring the car back they do and they get their old car back. But with CFC they can not get the car back as the dealer puts a chemical in the engine that seizes the engine on the spot so they can qualify for the loan.

There is even more to the domino effect – as all these cars are destroyed, there will be a huge influx of scrap metal, thus driving a huge supply into the market and lowering the cost that scrap metal yards can charge for their product. Does the President already have a plan in place to bailout the scrap metal workers??

Did anyone even bother to consult the auto industry before moving forward with this program?

Maybe if President Obama ever had any kind of experience in the real world of business, aside from jumping from community organizer to attorney to lawmaker, he’d understand.

It's been a busy week both in and out of the office and I'm mad at myself for missing out on an incredibly busy news week within the DC Beltway, errr.

States' Rights are Dead, But At Least You Can Speak Spanish

Woahhh Nelly, the "P.C." police are totally going to come after me for this one...

The wild west has historically separated the men from the mice and apparently that reputation still holds today. Oklahoma lawmakers have been working collectively to build support for legislation that calls for all official state actions to be conducted in English.

As reported by The Oklahoman:
"The state Legislature approved a resolution in May that will allow state voters to declare that English is Oklahoma’s common and unifying language and that all official state actions must be conducted in English. It would bar lawsuits to have state services provided in languages other than English."

Lawmakers plan to place this on the ballot for a statewide vote on Election Day in 2010, allowing Oklahomans to decide for themselves if they believe this is a reasonable measure.

Well of course this legislation does not sit well with President Obama and his open door policies and handshake diplomacy methods. His henchmen...uh loyal servants...uh officials are all over it though, don't you worry your pretty little head.

Attorney General Eric Holder had his "Civil Rights division sent a letter to Oklahoma Attorney General Drew Edmondson in the midst of the English-only debate reminding him that state entities receiving federal funds have to observe certain laws regarding people with limited proficiency in English."

This in turn angered the state's Congressional Delegation who joined forces and sent a letter, signed by every member of Congress who represents Oklahoma, asking why the U.S. Attorney General is meddling in state legislation....mwhahahaha.

I can't wait to see the AG's official response (I wonder if it will be translated into Spanish).

There are SO many issues to point out here that I'm going to have to break out a list:

The President has fought off claims that his centralization within the White House hierarchy and all of his Cabinet Agencies is dictatorial in fashion with all the "Czarist" positions he has created to preside over different issue areas - now he is slowly creeping into the states and this is just getting downright scary.
Whatever happened to states' rights people??? Did the President and friends lose their copies of the U.S. Constitution? I'd be happy to lend him mine...
More countries than I can even point out on a map have their own official languages. Why is it such a crime for Americans to want to have English documented as the official language? Why is it bad to dictate that government documents and proceedings and tests should be in English? Why is it unacceptable to expect that when immigrants MOVE here (not vacation, move) they should assimilate and make an effort to learn English?

And one more thing....NO, I DO NOT WANT TO PRESS 1 FOR ENGLISH!

This story has inspired me to revisit West Side Story's "America"...I can already feel the voodoo doll pins poking me.

More of the GOP Foot-in-Mouth Disease

Okay, so who's ready to learn about the GOP faux pas of the day (let's hope there's just one today)?

Senator George Voinovich (R-OH) responded to an Ohio reporter's question regarding his thoughts on the GOP by saying, “We got too many Jim DeMints (R-S.C.) and Tom Coburns (R-OK.). It’s the southerners. They get on TV and go 'errrr, errrrr.' People hear them and say, ‘These people, they’re southerners. The party’s being taken over by southerners. What they hell they got to do with Ohio?’ ”

Do I agree that the Republican party, sadly referred to as the "Grand Ole Party" for many reasons, has been typecast as the model that is the "Southern Republican" whereas no matter where you are from or what your personal beliefs are, if you say you are a Republican others start throwing proverbial darts at you and gawking at you and saying that you are racist, close-minded, homophobic, a religious zealot, that you hate poor people, have no tolerance for other cultures, and are greedy?

Yes.

Do I believe the typecasting is harmful to the party in the whole, that one faction of the party has successfully taken over, and that this faction is ruling by minority rather than majority given that many younger Republicans have been moving in a completely different direction as they are growing, whereas the party has actually stalled and is not keeping up with the times or those it's supposed to serve?

Yes.

Do I believe that Republican elected leaders should be publicly finger-pointing?

NO!

How much more of a joke can the GOP make of itself these days? Over the last decade the Republican secret weapon has been discretion - internal politics were actually kept internal. Of course there has always been disagreement and in-fighting, just as will be the case with any political party or organization that serves hundreds of thousands of members will have. However, GOPers would at least find ways to respectfully disagree in public when necessary and wait until they were behind closed doors to put the boxing gloves on.

Not only has the party officially imploded as a result of poor vision, lack-luster leadership, and an unexplainable inability to grow, but now Republican leaders are essentially showcasing as clowns for Democrats everywhere as the leftists sit back in their recliners and chuckle as they watch the evening news or read the latest headline off the news ticker on their laptops.

I get that most of this has been happening because the party severely lacks leadership. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader John Boehner have been ineffective (and unlikeable) leaders in Congress for quite awhile. Governor Mark Sanford had to resign his post as Chair of the Republican Governors Association for obvious reasons. And while my hopes for RNC Chairman Michael Steele were huge, I've yet to see what I need as his staff (specifically his Coalitions Director) is not where they need to be.

It would be really great if we all, especially our elected leaders, could all start acting like adults instead of pouting and whiny children and we could avoid further humiliation and stop digging our own graves. So today I say "thank you" to Senator Voinovich for the latest and greatest in GOP's series of "put my foot in my mouth" statements.

Professor Gates - When You Start Crying "Wolf" People Stop Listening!

Oh President Obama, your statements and remarks are generally well-manicured and your ability to answer questions thoughtfully and cautiously is quite remarkable - but you messed-up this week.

Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr. is one angry man right now, and I'm sure he has many reasons to be, but this nonsense with the Cambridge police and his finger-pointing should not be positioned as one of those reasons.

As the Associated Press reports:
The white police sergeant criticized by President Barack Obama for arresting black scholar Henry Louis Gates, Jr. in his Massachusetts home is a police academy expert on racial profiling.

Cambridge Sgt. James Crowley has taught a class on racial profiling for five years at the Lowell Police Academy after being hand-picked for the job by former police Commissioner Ronny Watson, who is black, said Academy Director Thomas Fleming.

"I have nothing but the highest respect for him as a police officer. He is very professional and he is a good role model for the young recruits in the police academy,"Fleming told the Associated Press on Thursday.

The course, called "Racial Profiling," teaches about different cultures that officers could encounter in their community "and how you don't want to single people out because of their ethnic background or the culture they come from," Fleming said.

Obama has said the Cambridge officers "acted stupidly" in arresting Gates last week when they responded to his house after a woman reported a suspected break-in.

Crowley, 42, has maintained he did nothing wrong and has refused to apologize, as Gates has demanded.

Read the rest of that article and the numerous others that have been produced to read the rest of the police report and reason for arrest, etc.

After reviewing the details (which President Obama clearly admits he did not do before making a statement), I believe that it probably was fruitless and unnecessary to arrest the Professor because I'd rather the court costs and fees associated with arrests go to snatching rapists and drug dealers. HOWEVER, I also believe that according to code and conduct and law, Sgt. Crowley was well within his rights and obligations to arrest and he should NOT under any circumstances be bullied into apologizing for his actions in this case.

The bottom line is, Professor Gates admits to trying to push his door in because it was jammed as a result of a prior break in. Given that this is the case, shouldn't he, as a resident, be thankful that the Cambridge police were investigating reports that a man was trying to push his way into what appeared to be a locked door???? If his own home was burglarized or even just an attempt was made, shouldn't he be pleased that a concerned neighbor made the call and that police responded quickly and appropriately???

Some idiot attempted to break into my DC apartment last year one winter evening and messed up my front door to the point that it was jammed and I also could not enter. I waited over 4 hours for the DC metro police department to show up - I GLADLY welcome questioning from police officers if reports of suspicious activity are happening in my neighborhood and I don't care what race, sex, or any recognizable freakishness I may wear on my sleeve (i.e. if I were a goth fiend, etc) - as long as you are responding accurately and accordingly and let me be after I prove I am where I am supposed to be and not doing anything shady, I am not going to start complaining about harassment.

There are situations of racism in this country and it angers me that Professor Gates escalated this to a race issue when I do not believe it was one, in this specific instance. The more you cry "wolf" the less anyone listens.

The fact that race was the only thing the intelligent and well-educated Professor could focus on throughout this whole ordeal when he became irate with officers is astounding to me. I may not have had the SAT scores to get into Harvard, but I'm quite alright with that, because there is no need to pay for an education provided by educators who lack common sense!

Naked Cowboy Runs for Mayor of NY!!

Ahh, this is just one of those news stories that puts a smile on your face....

The Naked Cowboy is one of those timeless fixtures in NY's Times Square. He's been standing on the corner right in the middle of it all in his tighty-whities, cowboy hat, boots, with guitar in hand just strumming away since before I can remember. When I was a teen and used to head into the city for one adventure or another I always kept an eye open for the crazy man who was wearing practically nothing even when it was 30 degrees out - totally amusing.

This week the Naked Cowboy held a press conference to announce his bid for Mayor. You can find more details in this NY Post article.

Hey, the dude's got a decent platform - he wants to focus on a stimulus plan for small businesses. And if you think about it, he actually has probably shook more hands with "everyday joe's" and has a better pulse on what the people want more so than any haughty-taughty politician!

The DC City Council is out of control. Yes, the behavior of the Council that governs our nation's capital is often a little loopy and certainly completely left-leaning, however recent events have proven that the members have lost their minds.

I have resolved to get involved in local politics, mostly with the DC GOP, but I will back any good democrats we can find and catapult forward during the primary to ensure that some of these council members (I've mostly got my eye on the ridiculously green Tommy Wells) are thrown out. It's no secret that "Republican" is the dirtiest word in local politics within the borders of a city that only supports Democrats that routinely take advantage of constituents (Marion Barry, enough said).

As reported in an article in yesterday's Washington Post, the most recent acts of ridiculousness come from Council member Jim Graham, who is currently trying to have a park in the District named after President Barack Obama, when District code clearly states that parks can't be named after living persons.

Fortunately the DC GOP is fighting back and called on Council member Graham and his colleagues to focus on dealing with the city's financial problems rather than worrying about changing statutes to rename a park after a President who hasn't even yet had a chance to prove himself worthy!

The DC GOP is in a really unique position right now as there are no Republican members on the Council at the current moment. This allows the party to vocalize justified opposition frequently, something it can't do when needing to worry about tipping the scales for a Republican member serving in the minority on a Council full of Democrats.

The District already has trouble with fiscal issues as it falls under federal jurisdiction and can't function the way a state does, and now the Council wants to rename a park after the current President before even trying to ensure that he directs the federal government to assist the District when and where needed? Shouldn't the honorary naming be a reward rather than a given? Shouldn't you need to earn those things?

DC GOP Chairman Robert Kabel suggested that if the Council wants to waste time renaming parks during an economic recession, they should at least look to individuals who were born and raised in the District, such as former U.S. Senator Edward Brooke who moved on to Massachusetts and served as the state's Governor.

This park-naming nonsense may slightly exemplify the wacko priorities of the currently seated Council, but it's only the tip of the iceberg.

Council member Tommy Wells has been leading efforts to add a "bag tax" on all plastic bags used in grocery stores, because DC residents aren't already taxed enough and prices aren't already inflated enough. Great idea Council member Wells, let's encourage the large percentage of car-owning residents to trek to VA and MD even more frequently to buy their groceries, since it's easier to park and the stores are already cleaner and larger than those in the District. Let's encourage small and large businesses alike to lose business and impose unnecessary regulations on them. And for those District residents who live off of food stamps and government subsidies who will be much less likely to purchase the go-green bags at the store, let's pretend we're giving them x amount of dollars for food when really the city is taking an increased percentage of the money back via bag tax.

I also just heard that Wells wants to increase the gas tax too! This idea may be even dumber, because many District residents already wait to fill up when they are doing errands in Virginia because it's cheaper, at least I know that's what I do!

Sadly the recent and horrific tragedy on the Red Line of DC's metro finally brought to light, and finally caused the media to focus on, DC's poorly run, poorly managed, and poorly maintained public transit system. We just learned that the Metro Board Chairman who is also a Council member hasn't even ridden the metro in a year!

Ohhhh and my personal favorite, Council member Marion Barry, who has recently been arrested for stalking a woman in a park late at night as well as his task evasion fiascoes.

DC WAKE UP. Stop electing and reelecting loons who care more about their personal social agendas than they do about properly serving their constituents and delivering services and goods that you actually need and want.

A double "wake up" to any business owners or middle class residents in Ward 6 who have been supporting Tommy Wells both financially and at the polls - you are freaking insane because this man is not actually representing anyone he serves in Ward 6. I'd be happy to raise funds to buy him a one-way ticket to San Francisco though if he promised to never come back.

So, who wants to run??? We need some good candidates, let me know if you have any ideas, I'm looking for worthy candidates to support, and I'm not afraid of a little elbow grease during campaign season!

It's official - Obamacare is on hold - at least until October. Make no mistake, this is in fact a big deal. For the first time we are witnessing a crack in the latest and greatest Obamarama machine. Democrats control Congress and the President's big socialist stick apparently is too frightening for him to garner full support from enough Democrats.

Yee-ha.

We should all praise the "blue-dog" Democrats who have essentially held up this way too quickly moving piece of scary legislation. They are working hard to represent their constituents even in the face of adversity and potential political suicide within the fundraising spheres of the DNC, and I'm proud of em.

Even better, we've got popular Democratic governors blasting the President's healthcare initiative. Karl Rove's "ObamaCare in Trouble" in the Wall Street Journal is a good and quick recap.

Majority Leader Reid is trying to chalk it up to respecting requests from Republican colleagues in response to the Washington Post/ABC News poll and Speaker Pelosi keeps claiming the House will in fact vote before the August recess even if the Senate is folding - however this is all just a bunch of blah blah blah blah blah - they simply don't have the votes! Let's call a spade a spade, please.

Today "Roll Call" reported that House Democrats are keeping their Republican colleagues from sending out mailings to their constituents that detail the Obama Administration's health plan in a not-so-friendly light.

Seriously? This is where we are going now? House leadership claims that the chart and facts Republicans are using are misleading....that's a two-way street baby.

Members of Congress are elected by their constituents and as such they have a responsibility, a duty, to report back to their Districts as frequently as possible and inform them of legislation as it's introduced and passed and the decisions they plan to make as they see best for the constituents they serve in their Districts.

If a Member of Congress is against the health care plan, they have an obligation to explain their objections to their constituents!! Especially when the President has cut into prime time television viewing 4 times since he was inaugurated in January with hour-long press conferences detailing his positions, mostly discussing his socialist answer to health care.

Speaker Pelosi might as well just order the purchase of muzzles for all Republican MOC's - it would be easier than having all her hatchet-men out there in Committees holding up ethics rulings and amendments and legislation out of spite - it would also be more cost-effective for taxpayers, since we are ALL paying the high costs of slow government with the thousands of miles worth of red tape she throws at every Republican action.

Apparently it doesn't matter that there are 435 individuals elected to the US House of Representatives, all responsible for answering to their constituents....it seems that the desires of only the citizens of the San Francisco Bay area deserve to be met...the rest of us are just voiceless serfs toiling away for little reward.

Thankfully, at least one US news outlet is still paying attention to the increasingly dangerous situation that has been progressing in Honduras.

According to the Washington Times (Sara Carter):
"Honduran officials are investigating allegations that President Manuel Zelaya and his chief of staff stole millions of dollars from the central bank before the military ousted Mr. Zelaya last month, according to a senior Honduran official, government documents and other evidence."

"A security video from the Central Bank of Honduras made available to The Washington Times shows officials entering the bank June 24 and withdrawing large amounts of Honduran currency. The money was driven to the office of Mr. Zelaya's chief of staff, Enrique Flores Lanza, according to depositions by three witnesses to Honduran prosecutors."

And yet, the Obama Administration still believes we should help this man maintain power in a country that has ousted him! This coup was justified. Yes, Zelaya was elected President, but he has grossly abused his office, with encouragement, support, and advice from Crazy Hugo Chavez.

He has lost the support of the Honduran military, supreme court, and Congress. He has attempted to circumvent Constitutional law for personal gain, and now there is evidence that he has stolen millions in cash from his own starving nation.

How long are we going to pretend that this isn't happening? How long we will we waste actively supporting this kind of totalitarian behavior? When are we going to take out the kaboose that is leading this crazy train throughout South America and finally get rid of Chavez?

Answer: when the GOP actually finds a candidate worth running, someone who can actually out-style President Obama.

President Obama Sings "Let My People (terrorists) Gooooo (from Gitmo)"

I sometimes wonder if President Obama were actually from New York, and had family members effected by the untimely demolition of the World Trade Towers, if he were from one of the hundreds of towns and municipalities within the tri-state area that had mothers, fathers, daughters, sisters, brothers, children, and neighbors who were killed or injured on 9/11, would he still be so adamantly in favor of closing Gitmo??

But then I turn to the millions of Americans who were not directly connected to New Yorkers, or those effected at the Pentagon or the flight that went down in western Pennsylvania, and I see how well they remember the real-time images from that day and how they get a sinking feeling within their guts when they talk about what they were seeing on the news. I also see how these very same Americans have realized how critical it is to never let go of that sinking feeling, and to NOT allow history to repeat itself.

Closing Gitmo will simply position the US one step closer to another major attack.

Members of Congress from both sides of the aisle do NOT want detainees placed at any facilities within their Districts - so where are we supposed to put them once we remove them from the island confines of Cuba?

Our allies in the global war on terrorism won't take them either, so where are we supposed to send them?

Our current legal system isn't equipped to "properly" try the prisoners in a civilian court of law, so what are we supposed to do with them?

Apparently we aren't able to even deport many of them to the countries that spawned them because there is a fear they will be "tortured" upon their return, so what are we supposed to do with them?

ANSWER: KEEP GITMO OPEN!

Newsflash - these are terrorists we are dealing with, not American citizens. Given the acts we know they participated in, they are barely even human. As far as the small number of detained terrorists that will face torture upon return to their own USA-hating nations, I say throw them to the wolves! Let them be tortured and let their own vicious leaders deal with them - that's 3 square meals less a day that US tax payers will need to fund.

For the rest, let's STOP forgetting that these people are not US citizens, they are not afforded rights under our Constitution. They aren't even prisoners of war as they aren't fighting under a recognized flag, so they aren't afforded rights under the Geneva Convention either! They do not need to be shipped to our own soil, where they will be placed in prisons with the opportunity to stir up support for terrorists cells within the US, for a "fair trial."

I absolutely refuse to believe that the individuals being held at Gitmo are not guilty in some capacity, of participating in atrocities against the US. The CIA, the FBI, the US Armed Forces are not the KGB - we are strategic in who we "pick up" and when and I have no doubt we are holding the scum of Islamo-facist regimes at Gitmo.

President Obama needs to stop sympathizing with these terrorists in favor of "humanitarian rights" - he is not Joseph, this is not his technicolor dreamcoat, and we ain't letting his people go!

VICTORY IS OURS! Well, temporarily at least.

My post from this past Monday focused on a study related to smoking in the military and its recommendation that smoking be completely banned for all those who are bravely serving their nation.

I am very pleased to report, in case you haven't heard yet, that yesterday the Pentagon released a statement saying that they will NOT ban smoking in the near future. Though, it's important to note that the statement indicates that the Pentagon won't ban smoking by troops in "war zones" so there is the possibility that there will be an attempt to reduce smoking on bases here in the US.

It's a small victory, but a win is a win nonetheless and every inch counts when we are talking about the men and women putting themselves on the line to protect and maintain our freedoms.

Ahmadinejad and Chavez - A Match Made In The Devil's Heaven

I am frequently laughed at and ridiculed alike for consistently tying "President" Mahmoud Ahmadinejad to "President" Hugo Chavez. They are continents and oceans apart; one is an Islamo-facist, the other is a contradictory Socialist-dictator. However, their similarities far outweigh their outward differences - a glowing love affair is on the rise and we will turn into another France pre-WWII (well, pre-every war really) if we don't wake up from this peacenick dream America has taken a liking to.

Checklist:

They both hate the west, with a special hatred for the USA
Chavez changed Venezuela's Constitution so that he can be President for life, Ahmadinejad is attempting to do the very same now
Both leaders rose to power by promising reform, only to lead their respective nations by dictatorship, reducing freedoms and stripping their citizens of a voice
Both leaders have supported efforts to insight protest and disdain in neighboring countries (who lack resources and means) and encourage revolt against leaders who support western ideals
Both leaders salivate at the idea of possessing nuclear weaponry (hmm, wonder where those nucs will be pointed to)

The New Republic produced a decent peace on Ahmadinejad and the hole he is trying to dig himself out of. I was particularly pleased to see this often left-leaning journal focus on what I've been saying for months with reference to the Ahmadinejad-Chavez romance........

"In addition, as many reformists have warned, the republican elements of the 1979 constitution are in serious jeopardy. Ahmadinejad has more than once hinted at his wish to follow in the footsteps of Hugo Chavez by changing the constitution and becoming a life-time president. There are reports of close cooperation between the two countries' intelligence agencies--particularly on methods of crowd and opposition control, as well as co-opting the lower classes through patronage. Mayor Bloomberg spurs with Secretary Clinton....fight fight fight!

Oh, some days, I just have to sit back and thank the news for providing me with some comic relief, especially near the end of stressful day at the office. Today is one of those days...thank you New York Post, you made me chuckle out loud, and now my interns think I'm crazy.

In 2004 President Bush road the wave to (a very tight) victory when strategists very smartly started to label Senator Kerry a "flip-flopper." Thus, new political hate speech was born and it's now the dirtiest word one can utter on the streets of DC.

Now NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg - the sometimes Democrat, sometimes Republican, but alllll NY, Mayor who dominates the capital of the world - has slapped Secretary Hillary Rodham Clinton with the dirty flip-flopping label.

(pause for laughter)

Mayor Bloomberg is mad as hell and he doesn't have to take it anymore! He is angry, and rightfully so, that Secretary Clinton's latest action in her new post will cost NYC $260 million in lost taxes. Wait, here's the kicker - foreign diplomats are the ones benefitting from the tax break!

According to the NY Post:
"The Post reported in today's editions that Hillary Rodham Clinton has quietly reversed a longstanding policy requiring foreign governments to pay those property taxes."

"It is a shocking about-face by Secretary of State Clinton -- who repeatedly spoke in favor of the city's right to collect the taxes when she was New York's junior senator. "

WCBSTV reports:
"Since 1873 they've been saying this is taxable," Bloomberg said. "

"What's more, the mayor predicted that -- freed of paying property taxes -- some governments would see it as a business opportunity to buy up properties and make money renting them out."

"The mayor also complained that the State Department owes the city $66 million for providing police security for United Nations missions"

What a mess. I'm really glad that Mayor Bloomberg is publically calling-out NY's former carpet-bagging junior Senator from DC, I mean Arkansas, I mean Illinois...oh wait, silly me, she did buy property in NY 9 months before she ran for the Senate so I guess she was in fact qualified to represent NY....or NOT. NY dems and everyone in between, you're finally getting what you paid for, unfortunately. Clearly, I did not vote for Senator Clinton back in the day...hard to tell, I know.

Yeah yeah yeah, I know, she's just carrying out marching orders on behalf of President Obama. This basically triples the irony factor given that the President and his comrades want to hike up every tax possible on Americans to pay for social programs. Apparently, it's okay and completely acceptable to treat foreign dignitaries (many of whom are rollin in the dough) better than American citizens.

Perhaps President Obama should just run for leader of the globe...oops, he already did, and he won. Come on in everyone, America's doors are open to all, and if you don't speak English even better, we'll throw cash at you AND give you tax breaks up the wazoo.

Perhaps this will be a lesson to Secretary Clinton, and any other celeb-du-jours who plan to claim NY as their own in the future and do a "move and run" - don't mess with real New Yorkers, you'll get eaten for breakfast!

Say it ain't so Joe...Cool

You eat a big fat scoop of rocky road ice cream, you know it's bad for you, but you eat it anyway, cause it's delicious! Thankfully, the government still believes that whether or not you want to consume those unneeded calories and clog your arteries a little bit more is your choice, at least for the time being. I can't wait until the calorie police come knocking on our doors grabbing ice cream cones out of our hands.

The latest move in the we-think-you're-too-dumb-to-decide-how-you-want-to-live-your-life Administration is to position the DoD to BAN...not reduce, not to encourage smoking cessation, but to completely eliminate smoking in the military.

As reported in USA Today:
"the report said, troops worn out by repeated deployments often rely on cigarettes as a "stress reliever." The study found that tobacco use in the military increased after the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan began."

Right okay...here's a question - if it becomes illegal for these war veterans, excuse me, war HEROES, to smoke, something they do to relieve stress after spending months dodging suicide bombers, do we really want them turning to alcohol or prescription drugs for solace because they can't light a cig without getting court marshaled?

"Along with a phased-in ban, the report recommends requiring new officers and enlisted personnel to be tobacco-free, eliminating tobacco use on military installations, ships and aircraft, expanding treatment programs and eliminating the sale of tobacco on military property. "Any tobacco use while in uniform should be prohibited," the study says."

Hmm, so, the government is going to forbid that the men and women who voluntarily sign up to serve and protect our entire nation, not to mention half the globe, from smoking during their tenure in the Armed Forces. Boys, better dust off those draft cards and start making "WELCOME BACK DRAFT" signs because we're only a hop, skip, and jump away from having to find ways to increase enlistment after this bad boy of a policy is implemented and when the number of active-duty military starts to plummet, well you best hope your birthday doesn't get called up next.

Does it bug anyone else that it seems that no matter what, Congressman Charlie Rangel seems to always get his way in the end????

Look, I get it, smoking is bad for you. I've never smoked anything in my entire life because I know this. But the bottom line is, this is my choice. I choose not to do harm my body with tobacco.

I also understand the health care costs associated with smokers. But what will the costs to our country be if and when we don't have a ready force large enough to facilitate our safety and security? The majority of those serving in Iraq are National Guard - so this ban will be extended to them as well, right? What about the costs to the families of Guardsmen and Reservists suffering from PTSD and TBI who aren't receiving adequate services from the government after returning from their deployments in the Middle East...they develop substance abuse addictions when trying to self-medicate to deal with their battle scars, and yet HHS, SAMHSA, the DoD, and the VA combined can't seem to work together to implement adequate solutions.

Smoking should be at the bottom of the list of concerns for this cigarette-toting President.

Honduras and it's OWN brand of Democracy

Guess who's still hung up on Honduras...?! Hey, you should be too, it's a "situation" we should all be watching.

First, I'd like to point out that I've been catching a lot of flack for mocking that Chavez's actions are an attempt at world domination (by many). This is strange to me since mocking is mocking, irony is irony, and sarcasm is at the root of most political discussions. Do ya really think I believe that Chavez is capable of ruling the world? Rhetorical question, and the answer is an emphatic, no. However, I do believe we should all pay attention to his ATTEMPT to get to that point, because he is absolutely capable of doing a lot of damage along the way (a la another chap who used socialist ideals to slaughter millions of innocents...heil Adolph Hitler).

Moving beyond, I came across this interesting piece in the New Republic penned by a GWU law professor, discussing the legal implications of Zelaya's actions and comparing his dealings and Honduran Constitutional proceedings with our own in the US.

Key Excerpts from David Fontana's Piece:

"The crisis started when Zelaya called for a vote to determine whether or not a convention should be held to amend the constitution--and allow him to serve another term. The problem was that Article 239 of the Honduras constitution clearly prohibits a president from serving more than one term and indicates that anyone who tries to amend Article 239 should be removed from office and disqualified from performing any public responsibilities for ten years."

"But this approach isn't shared by all democratic countries--or even by many state constitutions in the United States."

"So where you come down on Honduras really depends on which view of constitutions you favor. If you favor the dominant American view, you would tend to side with Zelaya. True, the Honduras constitution prohibits amendments related to presidential terms, but this rule flies in the face of the American notion that a constitution should be amendable in just about any direction--and Zelaya was simply exercising his right to try and correct that. If you favor the German view, you would tend to side with the supreme court and the military. After all, the changes Zelaya was seeking to the constitution were foundational and revolutionary. And a constitution should be able to protect against certain kinds of constitutional changes."

This is so funny to me, because the overall conclusion is just so backwards.

Consistently, Democrats criticize Republicans for wanting to go into sovereign nations and spread American-style Democracy around the world, without really respecting local traditions. Now, because it's convenient, they are basically saying it's okay to ignore Honduran Constitutional procedures because according to US Constitutional philosophy and procedures, Zelaya was doing the right thing. To recap - Republicans are saying we need to respect the current Constitutional procedures Honduras has set, and the Obama Administration is saying that we need to impose American-style democratic norms on Honduras. Whew, I'm a little winded...this is making my brain hurt.

According to the Honduran Constitution no leader can amend and change the Contstitution while they are IN office. If President Zelaya wants to serve his country and respect the Democracy and work to grow it into something that is more representative, than why not work to do so after his term is up, build support for change (a la President Obama), and then run again? Well, that wouldn't really work too well within the Chavez timeline.

BOTTOM LINE - when are we going to stop ignoring the fact that Chavez does in fact dip his hand in the honey pot whenever possible, and right now....all of Latin America is the honey pot and Chavez will keep working to harvest leaders in his neighboring countries whenever the opportunities present themselves?

The polls are out this week and President Obama's approval rating has dropped - it's still at a decently healthy 56%, however as the economy continues on its current course and the average consumer still finds his/her pockets empty, we can expect the rating to continue on this course.

Pollsters are pointing at roaming support from "Independent" voters as the reason for the declining approval rating. Apparently they care about things like the economy, cap and trade, card check, and other important things that determine the daily bottom line for us "average" Americans. And since they care, they are running away from President Obama and Congressional Democrats like chickens being chased by egg-snatchers.

Do not start hooting and hollering over the plethera of social issues yet again. IT'S ALL ABOUT THE ECONOMY. You lost these voters in the last two elections because you allowed the DNC to paint the party to be homophoebic religious zealouts who don't understand the importance of science or innovation. But you can win this PR game, with a little elbow grease and ingenuity!

If the GOP is consistent and focuses on economic issues, you will regain the Independent vote.

Honduras….next stop on Chavez's Crazy Train

What is up in Honduras?? Maybe you haven’t heard about the latest crisis on our neighboring continent since the news networks have been featuring 24/7 coverage of the Michael Jackson circus for almost a week.

UN-shockingly, I’m completely appalled with the Obama Administration’s attempt to handle the situation with high-priced therapy sessions, uhh…oops, I mean mediation.

On June 28^th Honduras’s President, Manuel Zelaya, was ousted via good old-fashioned Latin American military coup. His own government threw him out after accusations of incredible abuse of power and violations of the country’s own constitution.

So what was President Zelaya doing that finally drove his selected government leaders to kick him out? He was in bed with our bestest of friends, Hugo Chavez, the insane socialist dictator from Venezuela who intends to join Iranian President Ahmadinejad in world domination.

Zelaya had been attempting to rewrite Honduras’ constitution and wanted to seek support from citizens through a poll, which the nation’s Supreme Court ruled to be illegal. He then attempted to fire the head of his military for refusing to administer the illegal poll.

Zelaya has been taking steps to completely centralize power in his hands, the way Chavez did in Venezuela (yeah, we know who was the architect of this master plan). With Zelaya and Honduras in his pocket, Chavez gets to add another step on his ladder to dominance.

So now President Obama has charged Secretary Clinton with directing negotiations between the new government takeover and Zelaya via the Organization of American States (OAS). We are not to dirty our hands or take a side but rather facilitate discussion……seriously???? Agh. We are talking about world domination here people, I refuse to believe it is in the US’s best interest to take a back seat considering no other country is capable of stopping this.

President Zelaya had discharged the head of the military and defense. Military personnel in all countries follow orders, more so in a country like Honduras than in the USA where the soldiers do have their own opinions however they still follow orders as they are trained to do.

The reason the military and courts etc. could not let the President finish his term is very simple. Since he fired the head of the military he would have appointed puppets to run it and they in turn would put in their own staff and replace the current heads who wanted democracy. Once he had his own puppets heading the military he would do as Chavez did and declare that he could run for a third term, use the military in anyway he wants as the soldiers would follow the orders given to them by the new leaders and that would be the end of democracy in Honduras. The military was able to forecast this as were the judges and they did what they had to do while they still could do it.

There is that fun little concept that President Obama’s “handshake diplomacy” REFUSES to recognize – there are times when the ends justify the means! Hmmm, suddenly I’m remembering the French “Storming the Bastille” in 1789 when the French Guard told the King to forgetaboutit and joined concerned citizens in a coup. Similarly in 1917 a provisional government led the “Russian Revolution” to end Czarist dictatorship. Oooh, and in our very own country there was this little event that happened in 1773, the “Boston Tea Party,” when citizens felt that they needed to address injustices by breaking the law to prevent further tyranny…..and thank God they did! Red really isn’t my color.
