Sit tight as Avicii guides us through the brand new 350 series, comprising of the CDJ-350 and DJM-350.

In this five part series, he highlights all the major features and functions of this compact set-up which sits perfectly in your studio at home, in a small bar or at your friend’s house party.

In this first part, Avicii runs us over the DJM-350 mixer showing us the sweet FX including Filter, Jet, Crush and the brand new Gate (which has only just been introduced on the DJM-2000 monster!). He also shows us the unique USB recording functionality! Record up to three hours of your mix in full resolution WAV format direct onto a USB key and also include track marks. Fab for podcasts!

We first came across Avicii last summer when we interviewed him in Stockholm. Already bubbling under at the time, he has since blown the roof off electro with a slew of his own releases and killer remixes and a summer residency supporting Tiesto at Privilege in Ibiza. All while only 20 years old. With support from the Swedish House Mafia, David Guetta and Pete Tong, you know Avicii is going to go far.

Remember to check out the other four parts in the series.

In this five part series, he highlights all the major features and functions of this compact set-up which sits perfectly in your studio at home, in a small bar or at your friend’s house party.

In this second part, Avicii introduces us to the CDJ-350 and its looping possibilities. He shows us how you can set a simple loop, use it as a hot loop, divide the loop using either straight 4/4 or triplet timing, or just hit an automatic four beat loop with one button press.

We first came across Avicii last summer when we interviewed him in Stockholm.
In this five part series, he highlights all the major features and functions of this compact set-up which sits perfectly in your studio at home, in a small bar or at your friend’s house party.

In this third part, Avicii continues his exploration of the CDJ-350 and how it works perfectly with rekordbox, Pioneer’s bespoke music management software, the same software that DJs use to organise their music for the pro players, the CDJ-2000 and CDJ-900. He shows us how to create playlists within rekordbox and export them onto a key for playback on the CDJ-350. Organise all your music using rekordbox, play at home on your CDJ-350s or play Space on the CDJ-2000s with the same USB key.

In this fifth and final part, Avicii shows us the playlist functionality on the CDJ-350. Like the tagging on the CDJ-2000 and 900 you can quickly, while browsing your tracks, add a track to any playlist on the fly. Perfect for selecting tracks to play later on that night. He also shows us how to reorder a playlist directly in the player.

DJsounds hung out at the Amnesia Opening Party which also celebrated their 20th year.

We were joined by resident DJs, Les Schmitz, Caal Smile and Mar T, who were all equally excited about what the season has in store for them and the club.

Les has been playing there for eight years and talks about the changes in the style of music and also about the balearic crowds at La Troya nights. He also chats about the sound in the main room and why he likes the screen on the CDJ-2000s. Caal started playing in 2006 for La Troya and has been a resident since 2007 - he thinks this is going to be the best season so far!

Finally we meet the Artistic Manager and resident of 12 years, Mar T. He chats about what’s changed at the club since then and the People From Ibiza party which has been going since 2004.

The club is located near the Sao Paulo Trade Centre and is the sister to New York’s club of the same name. It’s an Asian-influenced super-club and lounge, lavishly decorated to attract jet setters from all over. It even has its own aeronautical positioning for guests arriving by helicopter!!

This is the place to be for spotting playboys and their super-model girlfriends!

In this clip we see a dazzling home set-up comprising of no less than two CDJ-2000s, two limited edition green CDJ-400s with a DJM-800 in a mix by DJ Piotronic. We especially like his use of the FX.

DJ Piotronic is 21 years old from Vienna in Austria. He started DJ-ing at the age of 12 and like many of our big name DJs, he played his first gig at 13 for his school. In his words: “I like to have many possibilites in a set, to make live bootlegs, mash-up, with vocals and electronic rhythms. Just to give the crowd something they have never heard before…”.

DJsounds caught up with the colourful Steve Aoki at his wild Dim Mak showcase held at Texas’ South by South West music conference.

DJ and producer, Aoki, is famed for discovering acts such as Bloc Party, the Gossip, Klaxons and The Bloody Beatroots and is responsible for pushing that glitchy, broken electronic dirty sound, when he’s not being a fashion designer or magazine editor.

In the clip he shouts about his new album and about the artists he’s signed to his label and we hear from one of his acts, The Crystal Method who don’t hesitate to tell us how much they love the CDJ-2000s and using just a USB key to play. He also tells us about the importance and diversity of South by South West.

This week we have two amazing guests on the show, Rik Parkinson and Fergie; as well as a live recording of Roger Sanchez.

A Grammy award winning producer of a slew of hits, owner of killer label Stealth, and a sell out residency on the Terrace at Amnesia every summer, we caught Roger Sanchez for his first set back on the island last night at Café Mambo.

Presented by Dan Tait, the DJsounds Show is split into three 40 minute parts. Here we have Part 3, Roger Sanchez recorded live at Cafe Mambo, on the CDJ-2000’s and brand new DJM-1000 filmed live with four cameras.

Every Wednesday we invite different guests from 7-9pm CET into the Sonica Studio where we record the show and broadcast across the island of Ibiza on 95.2 FM.

You can then watch the drama unfold in the studio on demand, here on DJsounds. With guests this summer in the studio or at a party including Armin van Buuren, Radio Slave, Jonathan Cowan and Audiofly, amongst many others, it’s going to be a hot summer!

In this clip we talk to Japan’s Satoshi Tomiie at his last party of the season in Ibiza last year - Carl Cox’s Revolution at Space.

He talks about his constant traveling and the first time he came to Ibiza - the teeny weeny island, which he’d never heard of. Now he knows and loves the island, does he have a particular place he loves to play and what does he think of Space? Satoshi also tells us about his booth set-up and the input he’s had on developing the CDJ-2000s…

Satoshi has a strong musical background, having trained as a pianist for ten years from an early age. This led to a love for jazz and progressed onto hip hop and house later on. A chance meeting with Frankie Knuckles whilst producing music for a Japanese cosmetic company, led to a collaboration, “Tears”, in 1989, and the rest as they say is history. Since then he’s worked with household names such as Simply Red, David Bowie, U2 and Mariah Carey and has his own label, SAW.RECORDINGS, clocking up over 70 releases and 5 albums since its birth in 2000.

Welcome to our third show, presented by Dan Tait. In this clip we have Sander Kleinenberg live on the DVJs and SVM at Pure Pacha opening.

He has been a DVJ pioneer for the last six years, relentlessly touring the world with his own unique sound and visuals. He has just opened a new club in Amsterdam called AIR and has a much anticipated album dropping at the end of the summer. We recorded his explosive set at the opening of his residency at Pure Pacha. Recorded at 5am this set captures Sander Kleinenberg at his finest.

Check out Part 1 with Dan Tait in the mix.

Every Wednesday we invite different guests from 7-9pm CET into the Sonica Studio where we record the show and broadcast across the island of Ibiza on 95.2 FM.

You can then watch the drama unfold in the studio on demand, here on DJsounds. With guests this summer in the studio or at a party including Roger Sanchez, Armin van Buuren, Radio Slave, amongst many others, it’s going to be a hot summer!

We’re back for Part 2 of our interview with Fergie in the comfort of his own home in Glasgow. You can see our last post here.

In this clip he talks about his mentor, Tony De Vit. He helped Fergie accomplish his superstar status and his guidance led Fergie to his Radio 1 slot where he was able to play underground house on mainstream radio. At the age of 21, he could be found presenting shows in Brazil, Berlin, Ibiza and at the WMC, not to forget his homeland of Northern Ireland.

The show ran for five years and featured heavyweights such as Jeff Mills, Carl Cox and Sven Vaith. It also provided a mainstream platform for aspiring producers and DJs to showcase their offerings. Fergie has his own agency, ‘Excentric Artists’. Its three main jobs are putting on events, pushing new talent and releasing cutting edge music.

We have a special treat lined up for next week, as Fergie will be live in the studio in Ibiza on the DJsounds Show on Sonica 95.2 FM from 7.00pm (CET). He will also be talking about his new album on the show.
