Yohji Yamamoto debuts at D’NA

Almost 30 years after he took Paris by storm with his avant-garde designs, the master tailor of Japanese fashion debuts for the first time in Saudi Arabia at D’NA Riyadh.

Since the start of his career, Yamamoto’s work continues to inspire and challenge fashion conventions. Considered a genius within fashion circles, Julie Gilhart, the former fashion director for Barney's New York, described him “as probably the only designer you could name who has 60-year-olds who think he's incredible and 17-year-olds who think he's way cool.”

Never one to follow trends, his signature designs have stood the test of time and are eagerly collected by women the world over with a strong sense of individual style. Although he prefers dark and neutral tones, he is known for creating clothes infused with wit, romance and a sense of fashion history.

Stop by D’NA today to discover the creations of fashion’s most influential Japanese designer.

D’NA Featured in the March Issue of American Vogue

Before sitting down to work on a special collaboration with the Saudi Arabian members only boutique D’NA, in Riyadh, Monique Pean paid a visit to the country’s National Museum. The first vitrine she saw might have been a cabinet in her own studio, containing the fossilized remains of mastodons that roamed the region twelve million years ago. “I thought I might have stepped out my world of fossils here,” says the designer. “But art transcends borders.”

Her ethical, ecologically sound jewels are a far cry from conventional Middle Eastern opulence. D’NA houses CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund alums, including Suno and Creatures of the Wind. Pean has filtered the national color, green, into the collection and the emerald earrings shimmer with ethereal imperfection alongside mastodon and wolly mammoth ivory. With the 25 piece collection, D’NA clients will have many more unexpected ways to shine.

Verlaine Débuts a Unique Collection of Custom Abayas at D’NA

Two seasons ago, during New York fashion week, we found ourselves walking up flights of stairs in a non-descript building on 66 Allen Street. We were in search of Verlaine, an under the radar label that had been steadily gaining buzz amongst those in the know for its artfully draped and tailored garments.

Greeting us at the door of a 2nd floor suite was Javier Garcia, the Spanish-born New York-based former financier who decided to launch his own label designed by Christine Dow. Our eyes immediately drifted to a rack of beautifully draped long coats that were a modern edgy spin on the traditional abaya. By the end of our visit we decided to collaborate with Verlaine on a capsule collection of sleek abayas for our D’NA customers.

Reflecting Verlaine’s dark, minimalist take on fashion, this unique abaya collection fuses tradition with expert tailoring and luxurious details for a thoroughly modern look, fusing East and West.

Stop by D’NA today to discover this unique collection.

Just In: Lulwa Al Amin Débuts at D’NA

Always on the look out for new talent from the region, this spring we introduce a charming line by London-based Bahraini designer Lulwa Al Amin. After graduating with a degree in textile design from Central Saint Martins in 2009, the designer cut her teeth at Matthew Williamson before launching her own label in 2010. Al Amin quickly gained the attention of the fashion press for her whimsical prints, which she creates for each one of her collections.

For spring we asked the Bahraini designer to create long versions of her feminine designs exclusively for our D’NA members. Cut from luxurious silks and soft cottons, they are the perfect addition to any spring wardrobe.
