Yeah, see, I kinda accidentally deleted my track for Ep 90 when I was recording the opener and the song we wrote for it (yes, I sing. Not as beautifully as the Nathan Lane of Mid-Central Illinois DInner Theater, mind you, but I can carry a tune). Normally I copy my track to my desktop as soon as it's recorded, but this time I didn't and I was deleting test files from Audio Hijack Pro's recording bin, and I got a little carried away, there...

So, um, we need to re-record it.

Which we will, just as soon as I can gather together the Usual Suspects. So stay tuned, and, uh, sorry!

Back from LA!

I thought we were going to save this for the show, but since Stacy can't hold her water until then, Saturday night went splendidly. The show was absolutely great, and they even added an encore of "The Conqueror Worm" -- yay! Afterwards, I grabbed the room box from where it had been stored behind the ticket counter and headed backstage, stopping every so often to show it to theater staff who had heard about it and wanted to see it. The general reaction seemed to be, "Holy crap, that's amazing!" which warmed the black and shriveled cockles of my heart.

Stuart Gordon (the director of the play) saw the box and made equally complementary comments, then took me backstage to the dressing room, where Jeffrey was getting his wig and nose taken off. I showed the box to the makeup people while that was being finished, then gave the box to Jeffrey, who was very, very appreciative and said things that are still making me grin like the Joker. And everyone was so incredibly NICE -- Amit the artistic director, Stuart, Jeffrey, the makeup folks, everyone who saw the box, they were all just wonderful and welcoming. I adore them all, and they're in the will.

Conklin’s Barn II Dinner Theatre is very excited to announce the opening of their first-ever holiday revue of music and comedy, “We Need a Little Christmas” opening Thursday, November 12 and playing on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings and Sunday brunches through January 3, 2010 with extra performances on Wednesdays December 2, 9 and 16 and two special performances on New Year’s Eve December 31.

“We Need a Little Christmas” is a fantastic, sparkling evening of song, dance and comedy that will be perfect for holiday parties and family gatherings alike. New Doctor Who Logo!

Not sure how I feel about it yet. But it's fun watching the Doctor Who forum implode.

Okay...here's an alternate version. It's really starting to grow on me.

According to the accompanying article from SFX:
"A quick update. This alternative arrangement of the logo has gone up gone the BBC publicity site, so maybe that answers our earlier question about how the logo might appear in the opening titles. Or maybe not. And we've also been contacted by the BBC to tell us that the the "Doctor Who" lettering should be referred to as "the logo" while the police box graphic is "the insignia". So no you know."

I had mentioned on the show (or was it on Terminally Single when we talked about Torchwood) that I didn't think John Barrowman was right for the role of Albin/Zaza in 'La Cage aux Folle' - too young and good looking. I heard him talk on a recent podcast - here, if you're interested - about doing the role and how people might think we was too young but that he got Jerry Herman's blessing (in fact Jerry said it was written with 40ish characters in mind, it's just usually been cast older, but that could be spin). I gotta say, he looks pretty good, if a little "Anne Margaret on steroids" - look at those arms! The blonde shot looks like it's been photoshopped to give him thinner arms and legs - and airbrushed to death.

And yes, that's a deliberate typo and a nod to Sir Terry Pratchett. You know, the insanely successful British fantasy writer? Creator of the Discworld? All-around funny guy? Oh, never mind.

Anyway, Stacy and her Mini-Me came down to the clavicle of Texas last weekend, where much fun was had, much alcohol was consumed, and many movies starring Johnny Depp were viewed (despite Stacy's comments about what Mr. Depp passes in his stool and her continual harassment of my cat, but I digress).

We even planned on recording a podcast Monday night, but prior engagements prevented that from happening (she said, looking at Patrick and Jerry meaningfully), so we decided to record Tuesday night instead, and I would finish editing Ep 85 and put that up.

At which point we ran into a wee problem, namely Time Warner's decision to push a software upgrade to their cable modems at 1:00 AM Tuesday morning (apparently in order to prepare the way for faster service). Unfortunately, our cable modem is about 5 years old, and took to the software update like Thermite to oxygen -- AKA it kinda 'sploded.

After I stopped shrieking at the modem, I called Time Warner bright and early Tuesday morning and informed them of this contretemps. The nice lady on the other end of the line said the earliest they could get a repair guy out to the Fletcher manse was Thursday -- would I like the 8-11 slot?

Well, YEAH, if that was the soonest we could get the internet back. And then I had to explain the situation to Lyndon, who was not a happy camper as he often works from home and kinda needs a broadband connection to do that. We made do with trading off his AT&T wireless connection for the next 36 hours (shades of Holland), and this morning a TW repair person showed up, checked the modem under Lyndon's expert supervision and explained what happened. He replaced it with a new one, and voila -- we had access to the intertubes again.

So Ep 85 will go up tonight, and hopefully we can record the next ep Sunday or Monday night, depending on everyone's schedule. Hang in there, people -- we WILL be back!

Unfortunately, Myra and the servants are missing and Charlie is upstairs alone, apparently suffering from an unsuccessful suicide attempt. Ken Gorman, Charlie’s lawyer, and his high-strung wife Chris are on the scene trying to sort out what happened before the other guests arrive. HELP- I'M LOCKED IN THE BASEMENT!

This Labor Day, we will be doing the 2nd annual Single Sad Bastard Bake Sale and Telethon!

Unfortunately I haven't written a single thing....*and* I haven't baked anything.

Melanie, knowing my strong work ethic and dedication to the show, handed me a nice Starbucks caramel frappuccino, and next thing I knew I woke up in the sub-basement with a chain around my neck next to a stake in the ground.

I have just enough chain to get to the computer and a small toaster oven. There is cupcake mix here, too. Apparently I'm supposed to write and bake for the next few days.

This is how Melanie treats her family members.

Once in awhile Jerry, the universally beloved member of the podcast, sneaks down to check on me, feed me a few strawberry Twizzlers and give me vitamin water.

There has been no sightings of Patrick, and I fear for what she might have done to him as well.

Therefore, dear listeners, I will begin writing, baking and playing Scrabble on Facebook until the script is complete...and we have enough cupcakes to rent Pat a gigolo.
