16 years ago,

i had not lived 16 years.

i was 15 then,

now almost 32.

2 decades

4 presidents

16 years later,

i've almost lived 16 years twice.

i still can't grasp that enough to write an entire blog about it.

What was it that made me want to write? At what point in my realizing that there was no pen and paper available; that typing (here) on my black berry would be the only way for me to concisely convey thoughts--did my EGO become involved?

I lost it all.

No clue what INSPIRED me to write.

i'm not sure how many of you are still out there, but i know that if you are reading this, you are one of a few because i'm not announcing my return to blogging. first of all, i'm not 100% sure that i am returning to blogging; this could be a one-night impulse to publicly share a part of my"self" with the unknown.

2ndly, [yeah, i really can't believe i wrote "secondly" like that either and so badly do i want to delete it, but some part of me won't let the other, and this (run-on- grammatically-INcorrect) sentence was/is the compromise.] i know that in order for me to actively maintain the blog, MAJOR formatting and content changes must be made.

i can't go back to blogging the way i was before. don't get me wrong : i love [most of] my blog previous, but it was not sustainable.

i was too fixated on entertaining.

on getting readers.

on keeping readers.

all of which are [obviously] important if a blog is to be successful.

successful : (adj) [a word i used to understand]

achieving or having achieved success.

having attained wealth, position, honors, or the like.

but, the problem with my previous blogging is that it primarily stemmed from my ego. i wanted you to like me. and, i know some of you did. some of you may not like the new direction of the blog and i'm not even really sure what that direction is, which is the final reason that i'm not doing a [social-]media blitz announcing "D R A M A R C : http://marcherb.blogspot.com as my updates 10 x's a day = PSYCHO.

not even sure i made a coherent point, but this entry is done [for] now.

I'm an official Californian now. Scary. It only took six years, twenty days, and a police officer forcing me to go to court to prove the validity of my residence with a ca driver's license.

I've now lived in LA longer than I have ever lived anywhere in my entire life. It's a strange feeling I can't fully describe with words. But, somehow this plastic rectangle arriving in the mail is a symbol : I'm here.

Los Angeles is my home.
