Am I getting old? Modern Warfare 2 Campaign disappoints...

Well, let me start by making a few things clear: I completed the first game and liked it. Not "over the top" liked it but considered it a good experience. Second, I have not completed Modern Warfare 2 yet. I'm about 25% in. Third, [b]SPOILER ALERT[/b], do not read more if you do not want to know anything about the stages in the game. Now, why do I not like the second game so far? Well, it seems the game have become a victim of Hollywood sequel logic. If the first one had an average of 50 enemies per sage the sequel should have at least 500. If the first cost $100 million the sequel should cost at least 500. If the first had decent music the second should at least have Hans Zimmer and so on. So, instead of adding more style, more subtle changes and more atmosphere it seems they have gone for more mayhem, more violence (without a real cause and purpose) and in general a much more unrealistic game. Now, there are highlights and these often come when there are less enemies, more tactics and in general a more "sneak" approach to finishing the level. However, these stages often ends in mayhem and 500 rounds per second as well. Not because you messed up but because the game dictates that this is how it should play. Oh, and the level where you watch the bad guy shooting 100s of civilians while you help him escape (because you are under cover) just seems downright silly. All that said, it still is a great multiplayer game but in the campaign so far... Not so much. I'm getting much more out of HALO 3: ODST and can't wait to try out OPERATION FLASHPOINT. What do you think? Have you tried it yet? Am I getting old and simply can't stomach the genre?

I originally posted this about 5 or so years ago here at DVD Town, and thought I'd see what these guys were up to. They do all of their own animation and are a small group. The artwork and production is great for such a small company. They have a couple of other animations and now a live action project they're working on. Not a bad job Netflix and Sony

So Thurusday I got my Netflix/PS3 streaming disc in the mail. Popped it in my PS3 entered the code and started watching movies from my instant queue. I watch THX1138, People Under the Stairs, and Braveheart (none in HD). I must admitt the PQ is SDDVD quality audio isn't 5.1 but it does the job, and my PS3 bluetooth remote operates the software with no problems. Now only if Netflix would increase their instant library for new releases I would be very happy. Along with a Netflix/SONY update to eliminate the hassel of everytime you want to use Netflix you have to pop in the disc. Next stop, HD movie viewing.

Lionsgate's Angel Heart and Way of the Gun. I thought these 2 titles were being released on 11/24, but when I went to pick up Fight Club at my local Best Buy, I saw 'em layin' around right where they should be! Also, now that The Wizard of Oz's Emerald Edition (original Target exclusive) is going to be a wide release, any chance we can get this added to the database as well? Thanks guys! -Dave

Best Buy HD displays

Maybe someone can answer this for me. How does best buy get their HD displays to look almost like they are in 3d? I stopped by my local best buy and was amazed. I have a sharp 46'' 1080p LCD and nothing I have done to it make it even close to looking as good. Is it the new led-lcd's that make it look so good? Is it the settings they use in store? Anyone have any ideas?

I signed up a long time ago for the beta but obviously they don't need me because I havn't had any notice since. They said it is supposed to be ready for the public in Winter. Well, hopefully they mean next month. Very curious to see what it will cost(monthly fees or per game prices). Anyone else excited about trying it out? Playing games on the go with my laptop at hotspot sounds really cool(doesn't need to be a powerful laptop).

OK, you guys may have already known about this but R2D2 makes a cameo in Star Trek. It was posted on Yahoo and I guess in one of the battel scenes he goes floating by the screen from left to right. They say that it is not photoshopped in and in fact JJ himslef backs up the cameo. You will have to slow motion the scene because he goes flying by rather fast.

This is just more of an information thing for you guys to ponder. Here in western Pennsylvania we have a chain of supermarkets called Giant Eagle. And yes a supermarket that offers a pretty good selection of Blu Ray and SD DVD titles. So I get the weekly add yesterday and they are offering $10.00 off all Blu Ray titles through January 10, 2010. You have to have their advantage card but they are free at the store. (ex. Terminator 4 $19.99) I don't know if any of you are from my area and if you are then you may have seen this add. If not, well it is just a post to show that even supermarkets are getting in on the price wars.

For those that are fans of the show you can get The Complete Series for $74 from deepdiscount.com and that includes shipping and no tax. Best buy is selling it for $69.95 and their set includes the peacekeeper wars finale. Unfortunately amazon is behind the times with this one. Its still $104 on their web site but they may decide to match best buy's price since they often do.
