One-window facility to ease investment procedure: President Alvi

MAKKAH: President Dr Arif Alvi on Friday said that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government is providing one-window facility for investors to ease the lengthy investment procedure and to attract foreign businessmen.

Addressing the Pakistani community in Makkah, President Alvi said that the procedural delays which frustrate the investors from investing in Pakistan are being streamlined into a one window operation to facilitate the investors.
According to a statement released from the ministry, Arif Alvi said that the government is providing an efficient investment structure in the country to attract the foreign investors including the Pakistani expatriates.
The president appreciated the role of overseas Pakistanis in country’s economy and earning the valuable foreign exchange for their country. He also underlined the need for using the banking channels for sending their hard earned money to Pakistan.
He said that Saudi Arabia has always been supportive to Pakistan and helped Pakistan in difficult times and added that the basis of Pak- Saudi long-term relations is the respect between the two people and love for the most sacred places of Muslims in Makkah and Madina.
The president said that both the economies have a similarity that more than 50% of their population comprises of youth which is a huge potential and the youth need to be given opportunities to play their positive role in respective country’s development.
There is a change in the Saudi market from demand of unskilled labour to skilled working class and we need to tap that opportunity, he added.
Replying to a question on database of overseas Pakistanis, Dr Arif Alvi said that overseas Pakistanis are ambassadors of goodwill and an asset for their country and added that the government will definitely involve them in the development process and take advantage of their experience.

After receiving a severe backlash from Pakistani Twitterati, the BBC on Thursday gave a clarification, which it termed as a “simple technical explanation” for removing Indian spy Kulbhushan Jadav’s mention from the interview of Finance Minister Asad Umar.

During a TV interview for BBC’s renowned show HARDtalk, the host, Stephen Sackur, posed a range of questions of national importance to the Pakistani finance minister. Nevertheless, the TV version of the interview did not contain the part related to the Indian spy, who was sentenced to death in 2017 by a Pakistani military court for his involvement in espionage.

“The reason Kulbhushan Jadhav’s name was deleted from the TV version of the HARDtalk interview with Asad Umar has a simple technical explanation,” said a tweet from the program’s Twitter handle. “The recorded interview was too long for our broadcast slot and so had to be edited,” it added.

Shaukat Basra apologises to PTI voters and supporters

Hours after joining Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), former Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Shaukat Basra on Thursday night apologised to all PTI supporters and voters if his past statements hurt them in any manner.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, the former PPP leader said that he joined PTI for he found Imran Khan’s three-month performance better than most of Pakistan’s former premiers and is genuinely impressed by his resolve against corruption.

“Can you name a single premier who questioned his ministers about their performance in first three months, is there a single example in the past.” said Shaukat Basra while explaining his decision to join the ruling party.

Answering a question about his criticism of PTI in the past, Basra said that he apologises to all the voters and supporters of the party if his past statements hurt them.

About reasons to leave PPP after years of loyal attachment, Basra said that party is now only limited to Sindh province and has no presence whatsoever in Punjab.

When asked about his criticism of Firdous Ashiq Awan and other leaders who left PPP, he maintained that he is still against this culture of leaving parties for personal gains but he himself cannot be termed a ‘turncoat’.

“I haven’t joined PTI to gain a ministry or a party post, my conscience wasn’t allowing me not to side with a man who is fighting against corruption,” said Basra.

A PPP loyalist for years, Shaukat Basra joined PTI on Thursday after a meeting with Prime Minister Imran Khan and senior party leader Jahangir Khan Tareen.

PESHAWAR: Prime Minister Imran Khan has said construction of Mohmand dam to address water scarcity issues of Peshawar once it for all, ARY News reported on Friday.

This he said while addressing a ceremony held in the province’s Nishtar Hall to mark 100 days of the PTI government.

“Government is collecting funds for construction of Mohmand dam like Bhasha, plan is to provide potable drinking water to every Pakistani” PM contented.

He said people of Khyber Pakhtunkhuwa re-elected PTI to rule over the province for the second consecutive time over its performance of last five years in the province.

The premier said that the PTI not adopted political and traditional tactics to form government in KP again, adding the residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa don’t give second chances but they gave it to PTI in General Elections 2018.

“The second chance given by people of KP shows trust of people of KP in PTI,” the PM maintained.

Appreciating Chief Minister KP, the prime minister said, “Mahmood Khan is an honest and simple man.” He lauded CM KP’s efforts for constructing shelter home for the poor in the province.

Mr Khan said he sees no precedent in past that steps were taken for transforming Pakistan into a welfare state, “Policies were only formed to benefit small section of the society,” he lamented.

Unveiling government’s steps for uplifting of the education sector in the country, Prime Minister Imran Khan a uniform education system will be introduced in the country soon.

Terming the serving of masses, a top priority, PM urged ministers to ensure their presence at their respective offices on daily basis to come up with the expectations of the people of the province, according to the mandate that was given to PTI in 2018 General Polls.

Prime Minister Imran Khan revealed that two secretaries were working against elected government, “Ministers should take action against bureaucrats who are creating hindrances in rendering public services,” he added.

Imran Khan said he was ridiculed over selling PM’s house buffaloes, unfortunately no steps were taken after independence to narrow gap between people of the country and governments.

Madressa teacher who tortured student turns out to be police officer

HYDERABAD: Sindh police on Friday registered a case against a madressa teacher for brutally torturing students, hours after a video of him beating children during a class went viral on social media.

olice had earlier arrested the madressa (religious seminary) teacher on the orders of Inspector General Sindh Syed Kaleem Imam after a video of him torturing students with a pipe went viral on different social media sites.

As police took the teacher named Shabbir Ahmed into custody, it emerged that he himself is a police officer and worked part time as a madressa teacher.

ACLC returns recovered vehicles to owners in special ceremony

KARACHI: In a ceremony attended by Karachi police chief, Anti Car Lifting Cell (ACLC) on Wednesday returned vehicles worth millions to their owners in Karachi, ARY News reported.

According to details, the ACLC returned vehicles including motorcycles, cars and dumper-trucks recovered during last month to their respective owners.

Speaking exclusively to ARY News, SSP ACLC Munir Ahmed Sheikh said that these vehicles were recovered last month and the department has organised this ceremony as a “confidence building measure”.

“This was a confidence building measure, the vehicles are worth millions as you can see there are around 20 cars and 50 motorcycles,” said Munir Sheikh.

Karachi police chief Ameer Ahmed Sheikh, while addressing the ceremony, said that police force’s performance is improving by the day but not only in Sindh, but across the country, lack of security infrastructure is hindering the process.

We need security infrastructure (across the country) to improve our performance,” said Ameer Shaikh, adding that Karachi, particularly needs safe city project on the same footing as Lahore.

About car lifting incidents and misuse of vehicles, the police chief said that the unregistered vehicles and vehicles running on open letter are a major nuisance.

“The vehicle used in Chinese Consulate attack was registered in the name of a dead person, the owner had died six years ago,” revealed the police chief.

Ameer Sheikh returned keys of recovered vehicles to their owners and expressed satisfaction over ACLC’s performance.

FO lodges protest with US over religious freedom blacklist

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has lodged strong protest with United States of America (USA) for blacklisting Pakistan over alleged violation of religious freedom in country, ARY News reported on Wednesday.

As per details, senior officials of the American consulate were summoned at the ministry of foreign affairs, and were handed over a dossier as a protest over including Pakistan into the list of countries involved in alleged violation of religious freedom.

“Minorities are enjoying equal rights and freedom according to the country’s constitution,” reads the dossier handed over to US officials by the ministry of foreign affairs.

How can America neglect rights violation in Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK), questioned FO, adding Pakistan does not need counsel by any individual country how to protect the rights of its minorities.

Meanwhile, Minister for Human Rights Dr Shireen Mazari had said, earlier today, that the United States should take notice of violations of religious freedom and human rights in India and some of its allies that are moving to curtail the religious freedoms of its Muslim citizens.

According to a statement released from the ministry, Dr Mazari said that in our neighborhood we have India where Muslims are being targeted and where the BJP is supporting violence against Muslims ostensibly over “beef”.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Trump administration had exempted Pakistan from sanctions that affect the countries added to the US annual list of nations that violate religious freedom.

Gandapur urges international community to take notice of rights violation in IoK

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit Baltistan Ali Amin Gandapur on Wednesday said that the Pakistan is pursuing a proactive diplomacy for resolution of Kashmir issue.

Addressing a seminar in Islamabad today, the minister said recent barbarism of India in occupied Kashmir, has exposed its heinous face globally.

“India is targeting Kashmiris, who are fighting for their right to self-determination in the held valley,” the minister continued.

Condemning grave human rights violations in Indian Occupied Kashmir, Ali Amin Gandapur urged the international community to take notice of the deteriorating situation of people’s rights and play its role to end Indian oppression in the valley.

“Pakistan will continue to raise voice for Kashmiris at every forum,” the minister contented.

The Minister said Prime Minister Imran Khan soon after coming to power invited India for dialogue to resolve all outstanding issues through talks and peaceful means, adding opening of Kartarpur border was Pakistan’s initiative for peace in the region.

Mr Gandapur made it clear that Pakistan’s desire for peace, should not be taken as it weakness.

Indian troops martyr 95,238 since Jan 1989

In occupied Kashmir, Indian troops, in their unabated acts of state terrorism, martyred 95,238 innocent Kashmiris, including 7,120 in custody, since January 1989 till date.

A report released by the research section of Kashmir Media Service on the occasion of the World Human Rights Day revealed that these killings rendered 22,894 women widowed and 107,551 children orphaned. The troops molested or disgraced 11,107 women and damaged 109,191 residential houses and other structures. At least, 8,000 people were subjected to custodial disappearance.

The report pointed out that during this year alone, Indian forces martyred 350 Kashmiris including PhD scholars, an engineering student, teenagers and Hurriyet leaders and activists. The forces arrested 2,348 people including minor boys and women. The report maintained that the puppet authorities kept Syed Ali Gilani, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, Muhammad Yasin Malik, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai and other Hurriyat leaders under detention time and again and did not allow them to even carry out their religious activities.

The report said that since the extrajudicial killing of popular youth leader, Burhan Wani, on July 8, 2016, over 846 have been killed and more than 25,909 injured in the firing of bullets, pellets and teargas shells by troops on protesters. The eyesight of more than 3,000 youth has been either completely or partially damaged.

Aleem Khan directs to start screening, training for commercial drivers

LAHORE: Punjab’s senior minister Abdul Aleem Khan on Wednesday directed to start screening and special training courses for commercial drivers from January 01, 2018 in the province.

According to a statement released from his office, Aleem Khan said that every driver will have to go through the process so as to ensure the safety of the passengers and added that no one can be allowed to play with the lives of innocent citizens.

The senior minister said that traffic schools in collaboration with private sector will be established in different citifies to provide profession skills to the drivers on the pattern of modern countries.

He said that public awareness campaign should remain continue and permanent camps be set up at difference places for this purpose.

The minister maintained that in educational institutions there should be special class once week in which young generation should also be apprised about the traffic rules and regulations.

Senior Minister directed that there should be coordinated efforts by traffic police, TEPA and other concerned agencies. He expressed satisfaction over the performance of traffic police and indicated that legislation in the assembly would also be undertaken if required.
