EU OBSERVER: EU warns Israel over anti-NGO bill

The European Commission has made known its concern over a draft Israeli bill that forces domestic NGOs to regularly disclose funding received from foreign governments.

EU enlargement commissioner Stefan Fuele told the European Parliament on Tuesday that Brussels did not support the draft bill.

THE KOREA TIMES: S. Korea, US develop N. Korea stabilization operations

South Korea and the United States have executed “realistic” training exercises to respond to various types of internal instability in North Korea, the top U.S. military general said Thursday.

Such drills were held during the latest Ulchi Freedom Guardian computerized simulation exercise from Aug. 16 to 26, said Gen. Walter Sharp, commander of U.S. Forces Korea (USFK).

PRESS TV: Iran warns about spread of terrorism

Iran has warned certain countries against continuation of warmongering polices, saying their dual position on terrorist groups has led to an expansion of terrorism.

“It is necessary to establish and promote the culture of peace and reject violence in combating terrorism. This will be brought about through governments’ commitment to the use of peaceful ways in order to resolve differences and refrain from resorting to violence in international relations,” Iran’s ambassador to the UN, Mohammad Khazaei, said Wednesday.

Not many weeks ago Daily Babel was guessing that sometime soon China might move her capital to the west, Beijing being too eccentric, too far away from the mass of this giant country. The hypothesis was, and is, that Chungking, a former national capital, could be the choice. The western prospect is furthered by the new phenomenon of the western regions developing faster than the dynamic coastal regions of the East. A year ago the Gross Domestic Product of the West was growing 9%, against 6% in the East.

RUSSIA TODAY: Bomb rocks Russia’s south

Sixteen people have been killed and up to 80 injured as a powerful car bomb attack hit the central market in the southern Russian city of Vladikavkaz.

Eight children were among those taken to a local hospital.

MOZAMBIQUE NEWS AGENCY: Police deny use of army to restore order

Police spokesperson Pedro Cossa on Thursday denied rumours that the army has been called on to restore public order. According to Cossa, “the army was called on to carry out the clean-up in the cities and not to restore order. Since last night it has helped Maputo City Municipal Council to clean the city”.

RUSSIA TODAY: Self-proclaimed Transdniester state celebrates 20th anniversary

The self-proclaimed Republic of Transdniester, a breakaway territory in the Republic of Moldova, is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its de facto independence.

The city of Tiraspol, its capital, is holding a military parade to symbolize the might of the republic. The day will end up with colorful fireworks to celebrate the occasion.
