The fifth edition of Indian Premier League (IPL 2012) is turning on to its playoffs.The playoffs will begin tomorrow 22nd May,with the table toppers Delhi Daredevils and Kolkata Knight Riders.We will give the schedule and players list of teams qualified for the playoffs.The crash of Royal Challengers Bangalore against Deccan Chargers,qualified Chennai Super Kings to the playoffs.The Chennai Super Kings is the only team in the history of Indian Premier League which has qualified in all the play offs.The teams playing the qualifier-1,the table toppers the Delhi Daredevils and the 2nd table toppers Kolkata Knight Riders have an opportunity to enter the finals by winning the only match.Whereas the teams in the 3rd and 4th positions will have to win two matches the eliminator match and qualifier-2 to enter in to the grand final.This is the important difference between playoffs and semi finals.In semi finals all the four teams have equal chances,whereas in playoffs the teams in the 1st and 2nd positions in the league table will have two opportunities and the teams in the third and 4th position will have to face elimination.The schedule for IPL 2012 playoffs is as given below :

14 May 2012 : A super match of cricket and finally at the last ball Dwayne Bravo smashed a sixer to make CSK's play off hopes alive.The Kolkata Knight Riders batted first and made 158 runs in 20 overs and it was chased by Chennai Super Kings.Once again a last ball finish in this season of the Indian Premier League.Both the teams batted and bowled really well but at the end CSK made to their side.The Kolkata Knight Riders winning streak has got an end and now they are on their second consecutive loss.The openers of KKR gave them a flying start,Gautam Gambhir and Brendom McCullum once again played consistently.The KKR lost some wickets in quick time and CSK managed

opener Mandeep Singh,provided a total of 170 for Kings XI Punjab.The Deccan Chargers couldn't get near to it at any part of the match and they fell at 145 in thye limited 20 overs.This win will take the Kings XI to the fifth position in the points table.The Deccan Chargers hold the bottom most position in the points tabele.They are out of the tournament,they have no chances of getting in to the play offs.As the first four teams in the points table

05 May 2012 : Rajasthan Royals won the match by 43 runs.Rajasthan Royals won the toss and choose to bat first.They lost an early wicket,the top scorer Ajinkya Rahane got out for just 5 runs.Then the skipper Rahul Dravid and Shane Watson played some big shots and kept their run rate just above 9.Shane Watson scored 36 off just 17 deliveries and Rahul Dravid scored 46 runs.Even though they got a great start, they couldn't keep their run rate in the middle overs.And at the end of their innings Brad Hodge played some big hits,two sixes and boundaries to get them to 177.Brad Hodge scored 36 off 23 and Menaria made 34 off 27.In eply to this the Kings XI Punjab could only make 134 in 20 overs.Only Shaun Marsh got a score above 30 and all other batsmen failed to keep their team in the winning track.The scores of both teams along with important batting and bowling performances are given below:

05 May 2012 : The match was a great thriller and ended up in favour of the home team.The Eden Gardens was filled with more than 60000 people as it was one of the most awaited match.The immense support for Pune Warriors showed Sourav Ganguly the DADA's strength in Kolkata.The Knight Riders got a flying start and they scored 98 runs in the first 10 overs without loss of wicket.The man in form the captain of KKR,Gautam Gambhir was leading them from the front by playing some great hits.Gambhir scored 56 from 36 balls.After the first 10 overs the Pune bowlers bowled extremely well.They conceded just 52 runs in the
last 10 overs.Once again Yusuf Pathan was a great failure,did not scored even a boundary.The Knight Riders made 150/5 in the 20 overs.The Pune Warriors had great chance of winning the game as they restricted Knight Riders in 150.But they lost some quick wickets and failed to make stable partnerships in the beginning.Then Ganguly and Mathews made a strong partnership in the 6th wicket which gave the Warriors some hopes of getting back to the match.Angelo Mathews hit three consecutive sixes in Yusuf Pathan's over.Their hopes went in vain when Ganguly got out in a crucial stage.Sunil Narine bowled extremely well to restrict Pune Warriors to a low score.The Pune Warriors could only make it to 143 and lost the match for 7 runs.In my opinion the Pune Warriors failed to make a good batting order.If Steve Smith was given an opportunity to bat in the 6th wicket the result would have been different. As Steve Smith is an aggressive player with a strike rate above 150 he must have given a chance to strike at the end overs.The scores of both the teams along with important batting and bowling performances are given below :

04 May 2012 : Chennai Super Kings won by 10 runs.It was Chennai Super Kings who won the toss and choose to bat first.They made a competitive total of 160/6 in the limited 20 overs.The Deccan Chargers could only make up to 150/5 in 20 overs.The Chennai Super Kings got a good start with the man in form DuPlessis and Vijay.Duplessis scored 42 off 32 and Murali Vijay made 14 off 11 balls.Then Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni contributed 32 and 34 runs respectively to the total.Chennai Super Kings failed to make use of the good start by their openers,in the middle overs their runrate was not much consistent.Albie Morkel and Ravindra Jadeja failed to play big shots and got out for low scores.In the last over of CSK's innings,Dwayne Bravo played some great shots and made 12 in just 4 balls and that runs were crucial in their victory.In the other side the Deccan Chargers started off by loosing Parthiv Patel's wicket.And then Cameroon White and Shikhar Dhawan made a good partnership,at that stage the Chargers were in winning position.Dhawan got out unluckily when Cameroon White's shot hit the stumps near the bowler after passing Bravo's hands.The Chargers still had hope as their skipper Sangakkara and White were in crease.Suresh Raina took a marvellous catch in his own bowling to send Sangakkara to the dressing room.Cameroon White played extremely well, he scored 77 off 53 balls but it was not enough to take the Chargers to victory.The scores of both the teams along with important batting and bowling performances are given below :
