Asking God for Guidance

One of the questions that everyone asks is “What should I do with my life?”

God gives us instruction on how to find His will for our life throughout the Bible. In order to learn that will, we have to first place our trust in Him, read his Word, and learn to listen to His voice.

Psalms 25 is a prayer by David for defense, guidance and pardon from God.

First he reaffirms he will place his life in God’s hands.

¹ O Lord, I give my life to you.
² I trust in you, my God!
Do not let me be disgraced,
or let my enemies rejoice in my defeat.
³ No one who trusts in you will ever be disgraced,
but disgrace comes to those who try to deceive others.

Next he asks for guidance and forgiveness:

⁴ Show me the right path, O Lord;
point out the road for me to follow.
⁵ Lead me by your truth and teach me,
for you are the God who saves me.
All day long I put my hope in you.
⁶ Remember, O Lord, your compassion and unfailing love,
which you have shown from long ages past.
⁷ Do not remember the rebellious sins of my youth.
Remember me in the light of your unfailing love,
for you are merciful, O Lord.

Then he acknowledges that the only way to a prosperous and purposeful life is through God.

The Lord is good and does what is right;
he shows the proper path to those who go astray.
⁹ He leads the humble in doing right,
teaching them his way.
¹⁰ The Lord leads with unfailing love and faithfulness
all who keep his covenant and obey his demands.

¹¹ For the honor of your name, O Lord,
forgive my many, many sins.
¹² Who are those who fear the Lord?
He will show them the path they should choose.
¹³ They will live in prosperity,
and their children will inherit the land.
¹⁴ The Lord is a friend to those who fear him.
He teaches them his covenant.
¹⁵ My eyes are always on the Lord,
for he rescues me from the traps of my enemies.

Finally, he asks God to be his deliverer from his current problems.

Turn to me and have mercy,
for I am alone and in deep distress.
¹⁷ My problems go from bad to worse.
Oh, save me from them all!
¹⁸ Feel my pain and see my trouble.
Forgive all my sins.
¹⁹ See how many enemies I have
and how viciously they hate me!
²⁰ Protect me! Rescue my life from them!
Do not let me be disgraced, for in you I take refuge.
²¹ May integrity and honesty protect me,
for I put my hope in you.

²² O God, ransom Israel
from all its troubles.

Call on the Lord in Times of Trouble

Meditate on God for a Joy Filled Life

Then I certainly should be paying attention and listening closely to your words, thinking about them so much they get into my heart.

So that’s how delighting and meditating on your word, brings life and health. No wonder there is so much madness and sadness in the world. We’ve been thinking about what men say and not what you our creator says about us and to us.

THIS IS TRUE

55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, says the LORD. 55:9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
Isaiah 55:8-9 RSV

Lord teach me your ways and show me your thoughts to think that I may live the good life you want for me.

Guard Against What You Hear

I’ve had hurtful, mean things said to me and even thought negative things about myself without anyone saying them to me, so if I hear bad things and think about them enough I may start to believe them in my heart and act them out in my life as if they were true?

4:20 My son, give attention to my words; let your ear be turned to my sayings.

You’re saying then, I should be careful what I hear and listen to and what I look at with my eyes because they form thoughts that can get into my heart and affect my life?

We Manifest Our Thoughts – Guard Them Carefully

If I think negative thoughts enough I’ll believe them and do negative things.

If I think positive thoughts enough I’ll believe them and do positive things.

Why just today I learned that a flea and an elephant can be conditioned to believe they have no power; the flea, to jump out of a jar, and the huge elephant, to free himself from a small chain all because man repeated a negative condition untill the flea and the elephant believed they could not, then, they did not when the condition was removed.

They both believed a lie. Is that what we as humans do as well, take on positive or negative thoughts and become controlled by them

Delight in the Lord and Prosper

Psalms 1:2,3

But his delight is in the law of the Lord and on His law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by the streams of water which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither and what ever he does prospers.

I want to be this person who prospers in every area of my life . . .

YOU MAY LITTLE ONE.

“SEEK ,FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND HIS RIGHTOUSNESS AND ALL THESE THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU” Matt 6:33

But how do I do this?

I TELL YOU NO ONE CAN ENTER THE KINGDOM OF GOD UNLESS HE IS BORN OF WATER AND OF THE SPIRIT. FLESH GIVES BIRTH TO FLESH BUT THE SPIRIT GIVES BIRTH TO SPIRIT’ John 3:5

My Mother gave me physical birth, you mean the Spirit of God will give me Spirit birth?

YES

“EXCEPT A MAN BE BORN AGAIN (of the spirit) HE CAN NOT SEE THE KINGDOM OF GOD” John 3:5

FOR

“THE MAN WITHOUT THE SPIRIT DOES NOT ACCEPT THE THINGS THAT COME FROM THE SPIRIT OF GOD, FOR THEY ARE FOOLISHNESS TO HIM AND HE CAN’T UNDERSTAND THEM BECAUSE THEY ARE SPIRITUALLY DISCERNED” I Cor 2:14

How can this spirit birth happen to me?

YOU MUST BE DRAWN BY THE FATHER John 6:44

YEA I HAVE LOVED YOU WITH AN EVERLASTING LOVE: THEREFORE WITH LOVING KINDNESS HAVE I DRAWN YOU Je 31:

IT IS WRITTEN; THERE IS NO ONE RIGHTEOUS, NOT EVEN ONE -ALL HAVE TURNED AWAY BUT GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY BEGOTTON SON THAT WHOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING LIFE John 3:16

Is that life the spirit birth? I know I have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, Is there hope for me?

BEHOLD, I STAND AT THE DOOR AND KNOCK. IF ANY MAN HEAR MY VOICE AND WILL OPEN THE DOOR, I WILL COME IN TO HIM AND SUP WITH HIM AND HE WITH ME Rev 3;20

I do open the door of my heart. Come in to my heart LORD JESUS, come in today, come in to stay, come into my heart LORD JESUS , forgive me and cleanse me of all my sins

AS MANY AS RECEIVED HIM , TO THEM GAVE HE POWER ( Holy Spirit) TO BECOME THE SONS OF GOD John 1:12

Oh the JOY, oh the DELIGHT that fills my soul to know I am now a child of God; a child of the King of Kings and Lord of Lords

YES MY CHILD……..THERE IS jOY IN THE PRESENCE OF THE ANGELS OF GOD ,OVER ONE SINNER THAT REPENTS Luke 15:10

GO NOW AND

“LOVE THE LORD YOUR GOD WITH ALL YOUR HEART AND WITH ALL YOUR SOUL AND WITH ALL YOUR MIND AND LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF Math 23:37

FOR EYE HAS NOT SEEN,NOR EAR HEARD ,NEITHER HAVE ENTERED INTO THE HEART OF MAN THE THINGS WHICH GOD HAS PREPARED FOR THEM THAT LOVE HIM I Cor 2:9

“DELIGHT THYSELF IN THE LORD AND HE WILL GIVE YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART Psalms 37:4

I am ready to begin Lord, to delight in you and be like that fruitful tree by the streams of water.

”YOU DID NOT CHOOSE ME, BUT I CHOSE YOU AND APPOINTED YOU TO GO AND BEAR FRUIT–FRUIT THAT WILL LAST. THEN THE FATHER WILL GIVE YOU WHATEVER YOU ASK IN MY NAME. THIS IS MY COMMAND;” LOVE EACHOTHER” John15:16

That sounds like too hard a command to keep–the world is so cruel and full of mean people

IF YOU LOVE ME KEEP MY COMMANDMENTS

Lord I need your help .

THEN PRAY; FORGIVE US OUR DEBTS AS WE FORGIVE OUR DEBTORS, FOR IF YOU FORGIVE MEN WHEN THEY SIN AGAINST YOU, YOUR FATHER WILL ALSO FORGIVE YOU. BUT IF YOU DO NOT FORGIVE MEN THEIR SINS ,YOUR FATHER WILL NOT FORGIVE YOUR SINS Matthew 6:12 -15

I see why this is key to being fruitful and prosperous, for its always been my sins that disconnected my life from you Lord, the source of all wisdom and rescources that I need to live an abundant life.

So you forgive me when I forgive others. Jesus you paid my sin debt , a debt you did not owe, with your own blood.

Who am I to hold debt against another and make them pay me, when you paid my great debt. Your love did that for me.

I see its your love you want me to give for others sins. forgiving others allows the father to forgive our sin thus restores our fellowship and right relationship with the King.

Repentance(returning to the right path) allows him to bless everything we do. Our greatest asset is ”

THE BLESSING OF THE LORD IT MAKETH RICH AND ADDS NO SORROW TO IT. Prov

Without Gods blessing, satan is given oportunity to devour our strength, family, health and resources.

BELOVED , I WISH ABOVE ALL THINGS THAT YOU PROSPER AND BE IN HEALTH EVEN AS YOUR SOUL PROSPERS

Lord you are so good! If my soul is my mind, will and emotions then you are saying what I think about determines the health and wealth of my life. Let me ponder . . . God
