So why is it to our advantage to commit our lives to Christ? Well, it not only saves your place in heaven for all eternity, it also ensures He is fighting battles for you and moving on your behalf even when you don’t see that He’s working.

Jesus never promised life with Him would be easy or even easier, but He did promise to never leave you or forget about you. When you try to live life without Him, at some point your own power, might, and understanding will no longer be enough.

Choosing Jesus over self can give you peace that passes all human understanding and joy beyond any temporary happiness this world can give. In essence, Jesus helps to complete us. We are made in His image, He is always with us, and when we accept Him, He is in us too in the way of the Spirit.

Choose Jesus. Life won’t always be what you want it to be, but it will always be more than we can ever think or imagine. So instead of asking why things have happened to us, focus more on Him than the earthly circumstances that will one day fade away when we once again see Jesus face to face.

We are warned about this in the Bible many times.

It is said you can’t love both God and money. It’s impossible. Then we are told in the Ten Commandments not to have any other gods before Him. If our priorities are out of wack and our daily routines consistently eliminate the importance of God in our lives then we need to do some reassessing.

The Bible is also clear that it is almost impossible for those who follow after material wealth to get into heaven. It says it’s easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for the wealthy to go to heaven.

Don’t get all of this wrong. God doesn’t mean it’s wrong to live comfortably. He just means we are to trust in Him more than in our next paycheck or in the things around us we turn to for comfort.

All of these things will one day pass away and all that’ll be left is Jesus. Take a moment in prayer today and ask God to help you examine your heart. Are you holding too tightly to the things of this world instead of to Jesus?

Even Jesus who was both fully man and fully God went through times of ridicule and judgment.

One hardship we face in life is not having someone around us who can truly understand us and relate to everything that happens to us. In the same way, it can be difficult for us to understand when a friend is going through something tough.

We may have the best of intentions when it comes to helping others and those around us may have the best of intentions when trying to relate and help us through. Sympathy though isn’t the same as empathy. Having sympathy helps us to think or feel like someone else on an emotional level—to understand and help validate their feelings.

Having empathy means truly putting yourself in their shoes so that you know and feel the same things as they are. Both of these things can be hard to do. It is only through the love of Jesus living in and through you that you can make a difference in someone's life.

Jesus went before us and experienced all the earthly pain and happiness you will know in this life. Only He can relate fully to you on a close and personal level. God sent Him to go before you so He could understand you inside and out.

So when you just feel like no one is there for you or understands what you’re going through, turn to Jesus. He is our hope, faith, and best friend. He wants to be your go-to person in the joy and the pain of life.

It’s great to achieve great things, but this drive to be known can end up being so strong it turns us to people pleasing and a love for ourselves.

You may not believe it, but you are here for a greater purpose than even you could imagine. God had big plans for you even before you were born. He also knew there would be times you choose to be far from Him. Like a good, good Father though He is always waiting and pursuing you with open arms.

You can tell how closely someone is walking with Jesus and following His will by how they receive praise. We have all been taught the proper outward response when someone gives us praise or a compliment. A smile and a “thank you” goes a long way.

What happens inwardly is most important. Someone who lives to help and serve others—having a servant heart—will receive the praise and give the glory back to God. Someone who lives to build themselves up will probably respond with a better-than-you attitude.

The Bible says where your heart is your treasure will be also. So if you truly follow after God, trust Him, and live how He asks you to it will show in what you say and what you do. All the glory will go back to Him and through you others will come back to the Father

This fulfills what God has asked us all to do, which is go into all the world and tell everyone about the Good News of God. Going through life doing things His way will not always be easy or the most comfortable, but it will always be the best for you and for Him.

The news, especially entertainment news, is full of stories of grounded people with big hopes and dreams who let wealth, fame, and success direct their lives down paths that draw attention to them for the wrong reasons. We too are privy to these downfalls.

Every time you put priorities in the wrong order the wrong things will happen. What you choose to hold near and dear can help you fulfill God’s plan for your life or move you away from it. Choosing to live life apart from God is like trying to do something really hard without all the instructions.

God created you and has a plan for your life. If you let Him, He will work everything for your good (even the bad and tough stuff) for His glory. He sent Jesus to live and die to save you. When you choose to commit your life to God you’re saying you not only believe in Him you are saying you believe He sent His Son Jesus to die for everything you could ever do.

You are saying that you are willing to live and do things God’s way instead of your own. Every time you make the decision to put your agenda ahead of His or choose to dedicate your time, money, and heart to things of this world that He wouldn’t approve of, you are putting other things or “little g” gods before Him.

To live for God means He has your heart first and foremost and above all else. How you live your life is a form of worship, but it’s up to you who or what it is response to. What do you hold close in your life? Does what you say and do reflect Jesus to the world?

Sometimes there are health issues or disabilities associated with their actions, but some people have just not learned to think before they speak.

The saying, “Sticks and stones will break my bones, but words will never hurt me,” has been spoken around elementary playgrounds for many decades. It’s too bad the saying isn’t true. Few people are able to disregard harmful things said about them or to them without allowing the impact of the words to sink in.

Kids are the most vulnerable to this as they grow and mature. They are still very much in the stage of caring what other people think of them. This is what our society has inbred into us—opinions of others matter.

As adults, we often feel this too. The difference between those who are most affected isn’t necessarily that they have tougher skin. Yes, experiences can change the way you interpret things, but the difference comes with those who know whose they are.

You can have an idea of who you are what you’d like to be, but until you know that you are a child of God and commit all you are back to Him the things of this world will still have a way of controlling what you think, say, and do.

Gossip hurts people and rumors can destroy. A great rule of thumb is to not listen when people talk about others and not to engage in conversations that can be harmful to the feelings and lives of others. It’s a fine line between gossip and regular conversation, but when in doubt opt out.

It’s better to be a part of lifting others up than it is to participate in something that can bring them down. If we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus and made in the image of God, it is possible to think like He would. All you have to do is pray for God to work in your life and through you to show love to others.

God is a restoration expert. He knows just what we need to restore, rejuvenation, and renew us. He isn’t the first person we turn to in order to allow this to happen though.

I pray He becomes your go-to when you’re at your wits end and things are not at all going the way you had hoped. His plans are always better than ours.

It’s easy for us to fall away from God because the comfort we can find around us feels more like an instant fix. God’s time is not ours and I don’t know about you, but patience can be in short supply sometimes.

Turning to God for help and guidance is always the best option. Everything this world has to offer is short lived. What God has to offer you—freedom, grace, love, peace, forgiveness—can last forever when you choose to live in a personal relationship with Him.

Pray for God to restore and make new any part of your life where you’ve been holding on too tightly. It really is true that great things can happen when you let go and let God.

I believe there is a special time and place where each person has the opportunity to commit themselves to Christ. Seeds of His truths get planted in so many each and every day through Scripture, and through the encouragement and words of others.

Many of us have had this moment in time where we maybe hit rock bottom—trying to do life on our own terms and through our own power. In this moment, you realized you could not do things alone anymore. We will all fail without the grace, forgiveness, and mercy of God.

Christianity often gets a bad rap because those within the church or who say they are believers do not live like it. To repent and turn away from the sin of what you used to do and instead do what God wants you to do can be difficult.

God loved you so much He gave. What did He give? Everything! He gave His one and only Son to live a sinless life and still die on a cross for your sins and mine. It doesn’t seem fair that an innocent man had to die. But God knew this would be the plan all along.

He knew we would struggle in this life and at some point realize we needed something more than ourselves to survive. You see God didn’t create you and leave you to fend for yourself. He created you with the promise He would always be with you.

The presence of God is all around us. It’s in the sunrise every morning and the rain storms of the afternoon. He’s in the good times and the bad as well as the sunset every evening. Even when you don’t feel Him, God is there helping you through.

So if God gave up what He valued the most to save you, what is stopping you from giving up the things you hold close to follow and live for Him? For you cannot truly call yourself a follower of Christ if you have not willingly given up your own agenda for His.

Our lives started though with a foundation of values and beliefs set by loved ones. These years are so formative of who we become because we compare everything that we are told and experience to what was instilled into us.

Sometimes what we value and believe changes positively. If you didn’t grow up in a loving home, you one day have a family of your own where you make sure everyone knows they are loved. Maybe you didn’t grow up around people who believed or followed Jesus and someone showed you the importance of having a personal relationship with Him.

Sometimes the shifts in our thoughts and beliefs are detrimental to our well being. You may have grown up with people that loved and valued you and have now chosen friends who use you in some way and you allow them because you’re so desperate to be accepted. Or perhaps something happened in your walk with Jesus. You committed your life to Christ, but because of circumstances beyond your control your faith was tested and you no longer believe.

Things in life happen. Even as Christ believers things happen that get us questioning what we really think. It can be easy to allow your feeling to impact your thoughts and your thoughts to change your actions. A firm foundation in Christ is the key.

He is the rock on which we stand. If we don’t, the shifting sand all around us will change our view of Him. So build your life based on who God says you are and surround yourself with others who can build you up instead of tear you down or lead you astray.

This doesn’t mean you should only associate with other believers. It does mean you need to guard your heart. Instead of allowing others to negatively affect who you are and who you become, choose to be an impact to them. Show love and grace even when someone doesn’t deserve it.

Be Jesus’ hands and feet to the world and bring hope and light to even the darkest corners and the darkest hearts. Love wins above all else. Choose carefully who you associate with and influence the world with the power and love of Jesus.

We are drawn to opportunities that make our talents and skills worth something. Everyone likes to feel valued. But no matter what we plan for our lives, God’s plan is always the best.

He may not ask you to do things in your comfort zone, but sometimes the best things happen when we step out into the unknown and trust God knows what He’s doing.

The things you do well are no accident. God made you this way. Just as we all contribute to the success of our society, God has a heavenly purpose for you.

When you commit your life to Jesus it’s important to find a church that has a body of believers to help you and do life with you. No one is meant to live this life alone.

God designed it that way on purpose! If you pray and ask God what He has planned for your life, be open to where He leads you. It may not be comfortable or what you had planned, but it will always be so much better.

Just like David who was a great shepherd, God called Him to be a shepherd for His people. Following God is amazing because He will take what you do well and help you to use it to honor Him.

Even through this crazy time, God is still God and unlike what we may think or believe, He is and always will be in control. When we think about situations beyond our control it does sometimes bring anxiety, depression, and fear.

But because God is still God, you can have hope and you can trust in His abilities to orchestrate all things for your good and His glory. Losing a loved one feels like an injustice and we grieve deeply for them.

It’s important to always remember them and never forget the things we’ve endured in these difficult times. But don’t let sadness, fear, and anxiety weigh down your heart.

Yes, give yourself a chance to grieve the loss of someone you love and opportunities you’ve missed during these hard times, but be willing and open to move on.

Let God work in your heart and renew your mind and strength. Be open to words of encouragement from others and don’t be afraid to give it right back to them.

Allow the light and love of God into your life and you’ll find things will be a lot less scary and you can walk in His truths that you’ll never walk alone.

I believe we become so wrapped up in the day-to-day things that we neglect to see the beauty and splendor God creates around us.

A downward spiral can happen in our lives as we look to the things of this world to fulfill us. We look to people, material wealth, and social and economic status to tell us who we are and what is important.

It turns out though some of the happiest people in the world are those with little wealth. Our culture has been influenced by commercialism to the point that it affects our every thought and move.

When we stand in wonder because of the newest and best things and neglect to have reverence and wonder for our God, there is a problem. The earth and its things shall pass away, but He never will.

I’m not saying you should never have the best of the best. Just remember how you were able to have it. God put you right where you are with a purpose on purpose.

Don’t go through each day without taking the time to stop and behold the wonder and splendor of God’s hand at work all around you. If we treat these things as commonplace, they lose their wonder.

In turn, we begin to lose wonder for our Creator. If we aren’t careful this can lead to doubting and unbelief. You and I are called to be the light and love of Christ to the world and how can we do this if the light is hiding in the shadows of our own lives.

It is from others that we learn who we want to become and who we don’t. You may hear yourself saying something you never thought you would, but it just comes out because of what has been inbred into you.

The words spoken to us and over us stick with us long after they are said. God’s Word will always remain. If we let it become a part of us, we will carry the love, grace, hope, and direction needed to live our best life.

You can’t obey what you don’t know or can’t understand. Some get discouraged when they read the Bible because they can’t understand what it says let alone how it can apply to their own life. When you commit your life to Christ and wholly accept Him to walk with you, amazing things can happen.

When Jesus ascended into heaven, 120 people gathered in an upper room and it was there that the Advocate Jesus talked about came to be with them. Jesus told them that it was time for Him to go and He must go, but a helper would be sent to be with us.

The Holy Spirit would be with us and it would be in us. With His help you have the opportunity to live the life God has planned for you. His Spirit becomes your guide. He makes it so you can understand and see things differently—through God’s eyes.

God’s Word can come alive when you read it because of His understanding. When you find it relevant to you it is more natural to remember what it says and to live by it. Pray today that God will help you to see people and to think about situations the way He does.

I mean how often do you really take the time to not do any work and just rejuvenate? It has been proven this time helps us to refocus and renew our endurance for the days ahead.

Whether you work outside of your home or not, your day is filled with deadlines, appointments, and responsibilities. Getting the rest you need isn’t just about sleeping enough hours when your head hits the pillow each night.

God created the world in six days. Now His time is not ours so these six days could have been longer than our normal days. The fact still remains though that on the seventh day He rested. Even God thought it so important to take a day of rest—or Sabbath—that He modeled it for us to follow suit.

He even made it one of the Ten Commandments to keep the Sabbath holy and observe it. This past year has had its ups and downs, but one thing most of us has had more of is time. Time to reflect, more time with our immediate family, more time to spend learning to trust God with our lives.

The God of the universe didn’t just create us all and leave us here to fend for ourselves. His presence is still ever present all around us. We have the opportunity to live each day in the presence of God. To rest in Him is to come to Him when you are overwhelmed, stressed, and concerned about things.

Physical rest is good and we need it to live, but spiritual rest and renewal can only happen when we choose to live our lives for Him and in His presence—aligned with His will. If you find yourself so busy with life that you have lost focus and time for God, it’s time to reevaluate how you live out your days.

There is no work involved. No blood, sweat, and tears are required for attaining this kind of wealth, but there are risks. In the Bible God is clear that work is required for our lives.

There isn’t a way around it. You’ve heard it said that hard work pays off and it does. Little comes to those who fantasize about being rich or who invest unwisely.

There is a time for rest. Don’t mistake what I’m saying. But one cannot sit around and waste their life waiting for things to happen. It is you and me who make things happen.

It is Jesus’ power inside of us that allow us to be used to make a kingdom-sized impact in this world. If you walk with Jesus and trust Him with your life—surrendering it to Him—He will make sure you have what you need.

He will provide the right job in the right place and with the right people right when you need it. He will provide when you are short on money and don’t know how you’ll make ends meet.

Trust is a big word, but when you learn to work hard and trust God with the details He will work it all for your good and His glory. When have you seen God come through for you right when you needed it?

It can be harder for the seeker when the hiders can’t be found or won’t give up when the game goes on forever. The adrenaline that you feel when you are hiding though can give you a rush for the moment.

God is like the seeker because He will always seek to find the lost or those in hiding. He will always be in pursuit of the one who has not found their way back to Him. We are all born into this fallen world and there will always be decisions we make and paths we take that don’t align with His will for our life.

Our first tendency is to search for evil. Now, this isn’t always intentional, but we are all guilty of it from time to time. It may not be destructive or physically harmful behavior, but anything that leads us away from God’s will and plan for our lives in considered sinful.

It could be as simple as a little lie or something done in private where no one will know. Jesus promised to always be with you and never leave you so in light of this promise, nothing we do is ever in private.

Our choices and behaviors can keep us in hiding where we don’t want to come to God and say, “Here I am!” This can also be unintentional. When we feel far from God, it is harder to see how we are just hurting ourselves with what we do.

The plans we make and paths we take with our lives will never be as good as the one God has planned for you. Those who seek good and pray to live out His will and not their own will will always find favor with God. Life won’t always be easy, but His favor will be with you.

Will you choose to follow the path the leads to God and His favor and the path you pave for yourself that will always be less than what God has planned for you?

In order to be able to teach others and be an influence to their educational upbringing, there is training involved.

A person can wake up one day and know that teaching is exactly what they want to do with their life. Desire is the first part of execution.

Without having the desire and excitement to want to do something it will be harder to follow through. When you link that desire with training, you will find your purpose.

In order to succeed though you must join your desires and training with God‘s will for your life. Only He can direct you to the job where you will be of the most influence.

When we decide to live to fulfill God‘s will instead of our own, amazing things can happen. The specific jobs where we work and the people we are around is no mistake. God has placed you where you are for a purpose on purpose.

Our jobs are hard and that is why they call it work. But if you allow the light of God and His love to shine through you where you are, it will certainly change your life and the lives of those around you.

As a student we like to think we know more than the teacher sometimes. We are never higher than those who impart wisdom into our lives, but with their help and God’s we can one day attain the same level and pass on the wisdom to others.

We as students will one day become the teachers of the world. Thank you teachers for all you do and all you are. Have you thanked a teacher today or someone who has had an influence in your life?

Sometimes things go so well in our lives that we just can’t help but to share things about it with others.

You may be having a baby, getting a promotion at work, or moving somewhere new for a dream job. All of these things are exciting and life changing. It is through God at work in you that these things come to pass.

There are also some bad or unfortunate times we all go through too. Things are not always sunshine and roses. Others can often be judgmental when looking at our lives.

What others say and think can hurt us until we decide not to let them. Life has seasons and there are reasons for everything. We may not always understand it all, but that’s okay.

God never leaves you or forgets about you. He sees you. You may not even realize He is there or feel He is far from you, but when you feel far from God it isn’t Him who moved. It’s you.

When we take our eyes off God and begin to fear life we lose our fear, our reverence, for Him. It’s when we understand He is above all and is there to guide and love us that we can begin to allow Him to take control.

Then no matter what you face you know you’ll make it through because Jesus has already paved the way. Your life is a testimony to His grace and love. Share your story with everyone you meet. Let them see God’s love and light through you.

The reality for us though is that this is an impossibility.

Don’t get me wrong, there are times when being in more than one place would be a benefit. It would be helpful if you have multiple children that need to be in different places at the same time or two meetings you need to attend at the same time.

Multiplying yourself creates a whole other issue. There is even a movie that proves this point. The more the main character multiplies himself the dumber his clones get.

In all seriousness, it is hard to wrap our brains around God being able to be everywhere at once. But He isn’t like us. God became human and walked among us in the form of Jesus.

Then Jesus died and was resurrected by God to live in heaven again with Him. The story doesn’t stop there. When Jesus physically left this earth, He told of an advocate that would come on His behalf to be among us forever—His Spirit, the Holy Spirit.

God is a triune being—three in one. This is how He can be everywhere at once. He is on earth and in heaven. He sees and knows you and your every thought and move.

This isn’t in a creepy way. It’s because He cares so much for you that He will never leave you or forsake you. Like any good father, God wants to help lead you, guide you, teach you, and love on you.

There is no one like our God. What can you do to share Him with someone today?

Maybe it was at the tables in Vegas or at the slot machines or perhaps by investing in stocks? It is in all of us to want to make more of what we have and of who we are.

There is so much to gain in this world, but also much to lose. Adam and Eve had it all—including a close relationship with God and life in the most beautiful place ever.

There downfall came with a snake in the most beautiful place ever and a choice they made that impacted all of humanity. The choices you make every day have an impact on more than just you.

Your behaviors and decisions affect your family, friends, and any others in your sphere of influence. What good is it to be wealthy if you spend it all and over spend even more?

What good is it to be the head of a Fortune 500 company or even the head of your family if you only use the power to your benefit? If we trust in the Lord, He will always supply for your needs.

You may not have the best car, house, or latest phone, but if you have Jesus you have everything. We are nothing apart from Him. It’s only because of Him we have the opportunity to have life and have it abundantly.

What you value the most shows where your heart is. This world will one day pass away and all that you have here cannot be taken to heaven. The most important thing is the impact you make while you’re here that lasts even after you’re gone.

Is the impact you’re making benefitting you while you’re here on earth or are things you’re doing going to leave a legacy with the people around you?
