THE END OF THE QUEST: AN INSTANT STOP MOTION CLASSIC

Hey folks! One thing y'all might not know about me is that I am a patron of a small handful of online "creatives" whom I believe somehow bring extra value of some sort to my life. One of those people is the Lone Animator, also known as Bluworm, a very talented Scandinavian stop motion animator and Lovecraft fan who enjoys bringing Lovecraft's creations (among others) to life with his fingers, wires and clay. The video below is his latest, and the first to feature my nom-de-guerre in the "Special Thanks To" credit sequence at the end.

In the above film, Bluworm manages to convey so much in such a short amount of time, and with such economy of elements, that one can't help but be impressed. With nothing but a hopper full of raw materials, brought to life by his own hands, powered by nothing but his breath and prodigious imagination... he has created a world entire, a world of beauty, of danger, of fearsome beasts and hidden wisdom waiting to be discovered and applied, in the hopes of changing that world for the better. It really is nothing less than a classic in miniature! And I suspect y'all might enjoy it as much as I did, so I'm sharing it here... ENJOY!

FREE ONLINE DOCUMENTARY: DAY OF RAGE

Everyone should watch this excellent New York Times documentary, which was culled from thousands of hours of videos from protestors and police body cams, as well as archived audio, telling the story of the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. Suffice it to say, America as a nation still has yet to begin the process of reckoning with exactly what happened on that fateful day.

Now, after the Mud Flood Theory failed to gain much traction in the cultural zeitgeist and the Mandela Effect is pretty much done running its course, it seems as though the long-simmering Secret Space Program conspiracy theory is poised to be the Next Big Thing in the world of spectrum-dwelling sci-fi conspiranerds who make up, then back up, each other's increasingly ludicrous claims about what they've experienced, witnessed and done, here on Earth, on the Moon, on Mars and yes, even in far flung galaxies clear on the other side of the Universe!

The nature of how these beliefs come to pass has always been one of the major issues of interest harbored by yer old pal Jerky in his ramblings for the Daily Dirt (circa 1999-2006 and beyond), so when I came across this mini-documentary on Youtube, I thought I might as well share it with y'all... because I liked it, and because it says a lot about the methodologies and mindsets in question. Trump is a ridiculous, combed-over cartoon villain, a deranged clown with a face sprayed the colour of hang-over piss and toilet paper stuck to his shoe whose wits are defeated by an open umbrella. Rake the forests, nuke the hurricanes, inject the bleach, waterbomb Notre Dame cathedral, trade Greenland for Puerto Rico. Trump’s pompous idiocies are exceeded only by his appalling ignorance.

Crediting the British with the foresight to build airstrips in the war of independence 110 years before the Wright Brothers first took flight, revealing the hitherto unknown Himalayan countries of Nipple and Button, accusing Baltic leaders of starting Balkans wars! This clueless buffoon brags that he was able to keep the crayon inside the lines on his dementia test. Accusing Trump of a lack of self-awareness is like accusing Myra Hindley of poor child care standards.

Guilty-as-Hell traitor Michael Flynn, who just got a pardon from the Trump, is now calling for a SUSPENSION OF THE CONSTITUTION and MARTIAL LAW because of (nonexistent) election fraud. And this is just the tiniest portion of the absolute insanity that the Far Right have unleashed since their best efforts to steal yet another election out from under the Democrats failed less than a month ago.

Of course, nobody in the GOP seems to have an issue with any of this. What in the name of highfalutin' HELL is going on with these Republicans?! PLANET OF THE HUMANS ~ A REBUTTAL

Turns out the Michael Moore-produced documentary Planet of the Humans is deeply, seriously flawed... almost to the point where one wonders if the filmmakers involved were behaving in good or bad faith.

Seeing as, looking a couple blog posts down, you can see that I was originally pretty gung-ho about the flick--and there's no denying its effectiveness as polemic, particularly with people who, like me, aren't well versed in all the latest matters ecological--I figured I owed it anyone who might have watched it on my suggestion to post a level-headed, fact-based, good faith rebuttal.

So here's one:

By the way, while researching a number of rebuttal articles and videos, I also went back and re-watched Planet of the Humans, and I have to say, the second time around, I caught what felt to me like a number of anti-human, even eliminationist rhetorical tropes sneaking into the text, almost as if the filmmakers were angry at anyone working towards making less damaging forms of energy available to the masses because it pushes their preferred (but of course only implied) solution to the problem--an enforced end to global consumer culture, perhaps followed by some kind of mass, rapid depopulation effort--farther down the field. After all, the film begins with the following question:

"Have you ever wondered what would happen if a single species took over an entire planet? Maybe they're cute. Maybe they're clever, but lack a certain, shall we say, self restraint? What if they go to far? What if they go way, way, way, way, way too far? How would they know when it's their time to go?"

No direct answer is ever given. After viewing the film in toto, however, the implications are obvious.

THE TRUMP REGIME'S ONGOING CRIME SPREE

Make no mistake about what happened with William Barr's Justice Department dropping charges against the self-confessed criminal conspirator Michael Flynn this week... this was two things. First, it was a de facto Presidential pardon, only without the potential damage to Trump's re-election bid that having him directly pardon Flynn would have likely sparked. Second, it was the most recent development in the New Fascist International(e)'s ongoing Russiagate conspiracy (acting as both cover for past related criminal activity and laying the groundwork for future criminal acts and cover-ups). Also, it's just plain fucking disgusting.

Here's some pretty good analysis of why this latest move by Barr's now hopelessly tainted DOJ is an example of its breathtaking dishonesty, its institutional hypocrisy (if everyone was given the same consideration as the DOJ intends on giving Flynn re: the "relevance" of his FBI questioning, America's jails and prisons would be empty), its flagrant abuse of power, and its abject mockery of the rule of law:

These are dark days for more reasons than a mere virus, folks. Shit is happening under cover of sickness that is absolutely disgusting, and far more damaging to the body politic than Covid-19 could ever hope to be.
