Alicia from More Than Words hosts a fun blog carnival called Friday Photo Flashback where fellow bloggers are encouraged to share some of their flashback photos. I will be sharing photos from before we made the switch to digital and/or pre-blogging days to preserve even more of our family memories.

Today we took a trip to the Kaiserslautern Zoo. We have been trying to get to the zoo in Frankfurt but it just hasn’t happened yet. We were derailed on our excursion there today when Will suddenly got sick exactly half-way there.

We turned around to go back home, but Will appeared to be feeling much better, so we stopped by a nearby PX to buy him a change of clothes and opted for the closer Zoo in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Before we moved overseas to Germany, we took a few days to spend together in Columbia, SC. We weren’t sure how long we’d be separated from each other while waiting on Will’s passport to arrive. While in Columbia, we took the girls, who were just two at the time to Riverbanks Zoo.

It was an extremely hot day and I was wearing Will, who was just two months old, in the Moby Wrap. I loved my Moby but it was SO HOT on that day at the zoo. Unfortunately, I don’t have any pictures of the two of us, but I do have some of the girls and one animal that we didn’t get to see today, much to EA’s disappointment.

The girls were so hot that we bought them water bottles from the zoo to keep them hydrated. Poor girls!!

All morning all EA could talk about was wanting to see elephants at the zoo. We kept telling her that she would see them until we realized that there were none. I’m sure that whenever we make it to the zoo in Frankfurt they won’t disappoint.

EA was still way addicted to her paci at this point! I think she is so cute when I look back at pictures like this. I’ll have to share she story of how she traded it in for her favorite doll, Marco, one day.

I think these shots were taken inside the aquarium. MC was facinated with all the fish and sea creatures there.

If you’re new to blogging or just to blog reading, let me tell you that comments mean the world to bloggers….they mean the world to me! I put a lot of thought and time and sometimes heart and soul into the things I write about here. And to receive a comment of encouragement, agreement, support, etc. on something that I have written is something that I am truly thankful for.

DailyDwelling is such a tiny little blog, but I have several readers who are always so encouraging and suportive to me in their comments. I feel like I have gotten to know them through this blogging experience. They are all beautiful people…some have blogs of their own that I frequent often (daily) and some don’t. Some I know in “real life”, some I don’t. But I am thankful for every one of them.

This week, I would like to recognize Homegrown Strawberries for her wonderful comments.

She is a stay at home mom of two, who feels blessed to share her life with her husband who she honors by striving to create a “good and godly” home.

Homegrown Strawberries uses the analogy of life being like a box of strawberries by saying,

Moments slip by most are enjoyable and good, some not so much, and then every now and then you find one that is just right, almost perfect, that got the just right amount of rain and sun. You know you could bite into it and it will have that intense perfect flavor and you want to save it forever but you know if you hold on too long it will get mushy and will need a good spoonful of sugar and some angel food cake to save it.

Will’s favorite, or most used phrase lately is “out the window“.

Out the window refers to anything that is outside the confines of our home.

When Daddy goes to work, he is out the window.

When there is a thunderstorm, it’s raining out the window.

Packages come in from the mail room which is out the window.

Our car lives out the window.

And so do all of our friends.

The weather has been pretty rotten lately. It has been overcast and rainy. We haven’t been able to get outside to play like we need to to maintain a sane home.

Yesterday, though, was a beautiful day. The kids begged their all morning to go to the park, but Keith and I had a Change of Command ceremony and reception to attend. They had to stay inside with the babysitter, who they love.

But after nap time, when Will woke up, I asked him if he wanted to go to the playground.

He replied with a very enthusiastic, “YES” and “out the window“.

So…we headed out the window and spent the afternoon playing on the playground close to our home.
