Fortune Cookie Recipe

The most important thing about making these cookies is to spread the batter out enough so that it is very thin. Thin cookies will be very crisp and dry when cool.
If the cookies are too thick, they won't crisp up when cool and the fortunes inside may stick to the cookie.

This is where I found the recipe:

2 large egg whites
1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 teaspoon pure almond extract
3 tablespoons vegetable oil
8 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoons cornstarch
1/4 teaspoon salt
8 tablespoons granulated sugar
3 teaspoons water
Preparation:

1. Write fortunes on pieces of paper that are 3 1/2 inches long and 1/2 inch wide. Preheat oven to 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Grease 2 9-X-13 inch baking sheets.

2. In a medium bowl, lightly beat the egg white, vanilla extract, almond extract and vegetable oil until frothy, but not stiff.

3. Sift the flour, cornstarch, salt and sugar into a separate bowl. Stir the water into the flour mixture.

4. Add the flour into the egg white mixture and stir until you have a smooth batter. The batter should not be runny, but should drop easily off a wooden spoon.
Note: if you want to dye the fortune cookies, add the food coloring at this point, stirring it into the batter. For example, I used 1/2 teaspoon green food coloring to make green fortune cookies.

5. Place level tablespoons of batter onto the cookie sheet, spacing them at least 3 inches apart. Gently tilt the baking sheet back and forth and from side to side so that each tablespoon of batter forms into a circle 4 inches in diameter.

6. Bake until the outer 1/2-inch of each cookie turns golden brown and they are easy to remove from the baking sheet with a spatula (14 - 15 minutes).

7. Working quickly, remove the cookie with a spatula and flip it over in your hand. Place a fortune in the middle of a cookie. To form the fortune cookie shape, fold the cookie in half, then gently pull the edges downward over the rim of a glass, wooden spoon or the edge of a muffin tin. Place the finished cookie in the cup of the muffin tin so that it keeps its shape. Continue with the rest of the cookies.

Long Lost Fortunes

Even though every combination of numbers has an equal chance of winning, you might just hit the jackpot!

Step 1
Visit the website of the Mega Millions Lottery and look at the winning numbers for the past 50 drawings. In every drawing, the first 5 numbers are drawn from 1 to 56. The last number, the Mega Ball, is drawn from 1 to 46. The first 5 numbers of every winning ticket are listed in order from smallest to largest.

Step 2
Now, look at the first column of numbers; these are the lowest numbers in each winning lottery ticket over the past 50 drawings. Pick a number that has that appears frequently in the first column.

Do you live in a state that offers the Mega Millions Lottery? Do you want to with the mega million jackpot prize money? If so, follow these steps to pick winning lottery numbers and you can be set for life.

Step 1
The first five numbers on the ticket are between 1 and 56. To pick the first lottery number, add number of the month and date of your birthday. For example, if you were born on 7/4, your number would be 7 + 4 = 11.

Step 2
For your second Mega Millions lottery ticket number, pick your age. If you are older than 56, subract your age from 110.

Step 3

Abundance checks are a tool we can use to create more abundance in our lives. They are written within 24 hours after a New Moon.

Surprisingly, you really don’t even need to believe that the check will work when you write it. You will however be amazed at the results, as you will see increased abundance in your life, in some life area. It is not always financial, but certainly in an area that you need.

There is a traditional manner, which has been handed down, that must be followed. If you do not have a checking account you can draw a check on a piece of paper and fill it out the same way - the results will be the same, more abundance for you.

Here’s how to do them:

1.) Within 24 hours after a New Moon, take a check from your check book. Where it says “Pay to,” write your name.

2.) In the little box on the same line where you would fill in a dollar amount write “Paid in full.”

3.) On the line underneath your name, where you would write out a dollar amount, write “Paid in full.” [I find it works better if you don't add the squiggly line.]

4.) Sign the check: “The Law of Abundance”

Do not put a date on the check. Do not write a specific dollar amount in the check. Put it in a safe place and forget about it. The Universe will take it from there.

Many people are skeptical about trying this until they do it. After the first time they realize the power of these checks and do them routinely every month! Try it yourself and see!

Today is Veterans Day. President Bush thanked veterans Tuesday for serving their country, noting wistfully that he'll "miss being commander in chief of such a fabulous group."

Bush marked his last Veterans Day as president with a visit to a New York pier that is home to the World War II aircraft carrier Intrepid, appearing before a crowd of thousands bundled on a pier against the windy November chill for the rededication ceremony of the USS Intrepid Sea, Air and Space Museum.
